I have been shooting for several years but never had a proper safety and training class. I signed up for a class for myself and my girlfriend who has never shot before. I was put in touch with Steven who was an excellent instructor and very patient. We had an hour long classroom instruction followed by an hour on the range. It was a great experience. After the class we spoke with Lisa, Glenn and Joe who were all very helpful. We took the class on a Thursday afternoon so there plenty of open lanes while we were there. read more

For a place called Freedom Ammo, it's ironic that you don't have the freedom to shoot your own ammo (unless you are a member). Their ammo prices don't reflect market value, which makes shooting here a cost deterrent. In all fairness, the staff is friendly and the shop seems like a nice place to frequent, silly ammo rules aside. read more

Nice upgrade from the previous owners of the location. Glenn, Joe and Lisa up front are really nice and Glenn is a retired police chief, fun to pick his brain. They are not shy about pulling any gun from the case to show you if you're interested. The RSOs, Kevin and Heather, are awesome. I am a first time shooter and was having difficulty finding a shooting range that would let me shoot without spending money on classes. For a first time gun I bought a single action revolver which was simple for me to understand. After being turned away and highly disappointed I emailed Freedom Ammo in West Deptford and explained my dilemma. Lisa immediately responded and told me to come on over, I was welcome there. The owner Glenn emailed me the paperwork to fill out and sent a link to a video to watch before coming to the range (which I watched several times). I went yesterday and everyone who worked there was nice, respectful and very patient with me. The place was very clean. They assigned me a lane and I was nervous but excited. The Range Officer was so attentive and helpful! She showed me what I was doing wrong as well as praised me when I made a good shot. She spent a lot of time one on one with me and even put some fluorescent nail polish on my gun so I could better see where I was aiming. I started off bad but all in all I had a good time and made some great shots...not bad for a first timer! I am going back to purchase a membership. I highly recommend Freedom Ammo. Went in to pick up a transfer and employees were very helpful. Got my NICS check info and they gave me a call 3 days later when the "all clear" came back. It was backed up due to NJ not freedom ammo. Stopped in today to check the place out as I was looking for a nice range to practice. Very nice place and the owner was extremely helpful. Took her time to give me some pointers on proper technique, which she certainly didn't need to do but I was grateful she did. It was my second range session (tried another place a couple of weeks ago) and her tips allowed me to immediately improve my results. Highly recommend the place. Yes, they do have some knowledgeable staff but should if they are a shooting range, I must say I've been to a lot of ranges in my time. I've done a lot of shooting. it's a clean environment and they have nice lanes but the people there are pushy they charge way too much for their ammunition and I don't like the fact that their range safety officer gets in your face and doesn't give you a chance to breathe. The absolute worst place to bring someone to learn to shoot. I brought my daughter there to learn was having a very positive time teaching her step-by-step in the lane I paid for which I did with a few people that I brought there before about 2 years ago- until the range dude came in and told us everything we need to do pushed me aside, told my daughter how to shoot and load and unload , really!!! I didn't go there for that reason, and he wasted my time and wasted my money was pushy rude and I should have left immediately. But I didn't because I wanted to be professional and I wanted to follow the rules however he didn't. He didn't tap me on my shoulder and say excuse me can I talk to you while we're shooting but he should have. How about asking if it's OK for me to give your daughter some instruction. How about asking some questions first instead of just barging in on my lane. how do you know who I am and what I do and what I know / you don't. Never will I go there again! There are so many different places to shoot and this is one place you shouldn't go to. And if you have to shoot in New Jersey, take a little trip over the bridge to Philly and even pick some other places it'll be much more worthwhile even Delaware is better thank you. read more

Went in with gift cards. Owner was a complete dick. Basically acted as if my gift cards were worth nothing. Jacked up prices then had the nerve to say certain things couldn't be covered by gift cards. What's the difference if my brother gave you $50 for a gift card or I give you $50 cash today. This is a very nice gun shop. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. Glenn and Mike were very cool, no BS just good info. They were very willing to talk about and show me the guns I wanted to see. For a smaller shop they've got some decent gear and thank god they are priced right, too many overpriced shops in Jersey trying to quote me outrageous prices on guns that I know the value of before I walk through the door. Go see Glenn if you're need anything gun related and if they don't have it he can order it for you, some shops won't even try to get you the gun or other equipment you want but These guys are willing to try.
