Great range and training location. Steve is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommend

The few reviews accusing this place of racism or discrimination are completely unfounded. I will concede that Steve, the owner, is an acquired taste. He is brash, unforgiving, and filterless. He says what he means and means what he says. Bluntly put... he isn't for everyone, especially those with dainty feelings. All that said, Steve is a good man that runs a tight ship. He matches energy and will give what he gets. I have frequented his establishment many times, and he has always treated me and my guests with respect, but make no mistake....he doesn't give a #$%@ what you think. The range is small and welcoming, and Steve is willing to share expert advice. This place is no frills. That works for some people and not for others. Steve can be accused of being a lot of things... racist is definitely not one of them. Anyone who has spent any time at Pistol People will agree. read more

I liked Pistol People so much that I bought a membership! I try to go once a week or more. The owner is a good guy and former police officer with a great sense of humor. read more

DISAPPOINTED. DISCRIMINATED. heard so many good reviews and I am just very shocked and sad that we experienced this. Me and my husband came here and we were judged and discriminated. Very racist and rude owner. will not recommend ! unprofessional and extremely mad at the world clearly! read more

If you're looking for a touchy-feely range master; look elsewhere! If you're interested in an expert, experienced, solid police professional background, then Steve is your man. He's a veteran Philadelphia Stakeout (SWAT) member and knows his craft well. read more

Pistol People - 22 years PHILLY PD - Firearm Training Near Me - Bensalem, Pennsylvania

Been going to Pistol People for nine years now and have enjoyed every visit, great service at a good price. Steve is a old school no nonsense person and believes in down to earth advice without any sugar coating and sometimes some of the more sensitive customers may not understand this approach. But if your looking to learn about firearms and are able to listen then Pistol People and Steve is the place to be. I have ZERO affiliation or loyalty to the range or Steve so I have no dog in this race other then telling you what I have experienced. read more

It amazes me how many bad reviews from somebody who walked in.Once and decided to judge the whole place or the owner in twelve minutes... This is a shooting range.. With an owner that cares about people and has experience in-law. Enforcement and military... I'm sorry if he doesn't welcome you like. It's a five star restaurant and he wants you to order the best thing off the menu... He wants you to respect guns and safety, it took me about two times to realize he's like a father who cares, but it's not gonna sugar coat everything for everybody... So yeah, it can be a home, but if you want the commercial places with all the fancy stuff.Yeah, go somewhere else. We're happy here.. me 24 years.. I come to shoot and visit a friend.. It's that simple..MC read more

Pistol People doesn't look like much from the outside. Frankly, it isn't all that from the inside either. But then you talk to Steve. What can I tell you: these reviews have been HILARIOUS! If you ever want to know whether or not you want to go to a place, look at the NEGATIVE reviews! Steve is abrasive, Incorrect, unyielding, and Old-School...But he is also a remarkably sensitive, empathic, respectful soul (PLEASE don't tell him I said so!!). He will teach you the fine details of how a semi-automatic handgun works (I call it his Glock-En-Spiel), alert you to the fine points of your stance, breath, and attitude re: Deadly Force, AND speak frankly to both your inhibitions and perhaps-overzealous drives to deploy it. This is a place (and Steve is a person) which has contributed MATERIALLY to my attitude/respect/JOY in these exquisitely-engineered, TRAGICALLY-misused machines! read more

Great little range and firearms dealer run by a retired Philadelphia policeman who did everything from walking the beat, to bomb squad, to SWAT. Steve has a very unique personality to him, but he's one of if not the best firearms instructors in the area. If you're new to firearms, and you're willing to listen and learn, he WILL teach you how to effectively use a firearm to defend your life. Steve will position you to make sure you have a proper stance and proper aim with your weapon to ensure that you are accurate (yes, this can mean he's "hands on" however he tells you beforehand and does so respectfully. Steve can take someone who is deathly afraid of holding a firearm and train them to be as accurate and effective as anyone else. He did this with my mother. By the way- his training is free. All you have to pay for is ammo and the range time. Make sure you set up your appointment ahead of time read more

This is a real shooting range. No smoke and mirrors. No fancy equipment. Bring your own ammo, all ranges charge $$$ for ammo. No Sunday hours. read more

Knowledgeable staff. Great value. If you want to learn to shoot, this is the place to go!!

There is no better place for someone who wants to learn the proper use of a pistol. Steve cares about your safety both while you are in the range and when you leave. I trust his advice. It is not a beauty parlor where you get pampered, it is a range where you can ask any questions you have and get straight answers. read more

I've been a member for years. I go in and go through a box to keep up my skills. My kids appreciate being treated like everyone else and not as kids which makes them understand that this is serious and guns are not toys. read more

Don't pay attention to the good reviews; they're all written by the owner. Why didn't I say "owner and friends"? Read on to discover why that's impossible... Entered to discover a frowning old man staring at me. When my wife asked if we could rent a lane he said, "As long as you don't have a pink p**sy gun." Realizing I was dealing with a master of etiquette I inquired, "Do you speak to all your customers like that?" He said, "That's how I am and if you don't like it, get out." When I laughed at this ancient cretin capering before me he added, "And I can take care of myself too." I asked if he got out of the wrong side of the sarcophagus before leaving. read more

I will be giving this place no stars! The owner was very rude when I called to ask some simple questions, he didn't even allow me finish asking one question before he hung up on me in the most rude way...... he said he doesn't let people in his building who doesn't know what they're doing, yet on his website it's advertised that he does training & have children on there. I called back to ask him did he mean to hang up he admitted that he did and continued to be rude ! That was the rudest encounter I ever had with a business owner, especially for someone who supposedly does training I do not recommend going here for anything for anything! He didn't have any type of good customer service & again that's through a phone read more

I've read all the reviews and all I can say you have to get to know Steve. When it comes to handguns he knows his shit. If you wanna learn how to shoot straight and safely he will take the time to walk you through it. He doesn't take any shit so when you're there you feel everyone shooting is on the same page. Love going there for practice which I might add everyone that owns a handgun should do on a regular basis. Don't just buy one and forget about it. Practice makes perfect and will keep you fresh not rusty. Something you have to remember when owning a gun. read more

I've known Steve for many years and I really enjoy visiting the range ,and being able to chat with a stand up guy. If you want to attend a range with limited experience don't worry ,your in great hands at pistol people. read more

Pistol people is great! Steve is very knowledgeable and patient. He goes above and beyond to TEACH THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE KNOWLEDGE. he is pationate about what he does. He is one person you will want to listen to. He will teach you everything and will not treat you like you are stupid if you do not know he will explain everything meticulously and will make sure you understand and will explain in multiple different ways to make sure you get it. Steve taught me everything I know about pistols. He took a lot of time to make me onto the shooter I am today. Pistol people was there for me at major point in my life that I needed them.. weather they realize it or not. Pistol people will always have a place in my heart and I will visit them everything I am back I town. I moved away 8 yrs ago and they still hold a special place in my heart and i could thank the pistol people community ecspecially steve enough for all rhier patience, knowledge, and how much they care. They truely treat you like family and will truely become a life long friend. I miss going here every morning. But anytime im in town to visit i will be going. I will see them soon! I know this is a ling review but i cannot explain enough how dear i hold pistol people close to my heart forever. They are definately a range you want to belong to. They arent judgemental and they are great! Love them! Love steve! Love the community! Love you pistol people! read more

I was a member at a range close by and will not go there anymore. The gun safety was non- existent. At pistol people they don't put up with the nonsense. This is most likely why lot of law enforcement shoot there. read more

No other complaints except the older male owner. My girlfriend and him were "friends" and she was naive and didn't realize what he was doing but he'd constantly hit on her and ask to see her bare chest and she'd say no and giggle it off but it never stopped him from asking over and over. Even when I went in with her once he made a comment and I had to get involved. For this reason alone I'll never go back in that place. read more

I searched for ranges that were close to me and found a true gem in Pistol People. Steve gave me the confidence that I needed to believe in myself as a shooter and pass my shooting exams. He cuts out all of the fluff when providing instruction on what to do, so if you enjoy the "straight shooter" type of personality, you will love him. read more

The owner Steve is really great and is very competent and knowledgeable. Also most regulars shooting there are awesome people. First started shooting there couple of weeks ago and everybody is really friendly and want to explain and help you. Great atmosphere! Prices are very low... read more

Owners a total douche bag. Went in to ask a question and received a cold shoulder and an attitude.

I was referred by a freind of mine so I visited the pistol people range today first time I was truly impressed with the place. I was treated very well and was shown respect Steve was the gentlemen and I believe the owner. Who was assisted by other staff. Great place great prices. And felt at home there seperate thank you to a fellow marine and great guy. I plan to go back with my son and join the range friends will also hear about this place read more

I've been to several ranges in the Philadelphia area, and have grown to expect mostly the same from them all. What I like about Pistol People is that it's relatively close to my house and the guy that mans the desk most of the time, Steve. is a good dude. He's doesn't take anyone's shit and calls it as he sees it, which is what you would want in a guy who runs a gun shop and range. I crack jokes with him when I come in and have good convos when I'm not in a hurry. The prices are reasonable and the rental selection seemed expansive enough for me. I was able to get my hands on a Glock 17 and 19, Baretta 92, and a Colt 1911 from the stone ages that was so accurate, you'd think it just rolled right off the assembly line. The ammo costs are in line with what you'd get elsewhere, but you're allowed to bring in your own ammo [some restrictions apply]. The range itself is in ok shape, the ventilation works, the lines run smoothly, and I never had to wait for a lane to fire in [I think there are 8 lanes in total]. I've yet to find any issues with the people that shoot there. No one brandishes about weapons in a careless manner, I've yet to see anyone point a loaded gun at me, I see a good amount of military and LEO stop in, so in my mind, it's people who are trained. Steve will also give shooting instruction to those who've never shot a gun before, and it looks pretty thorough watching him work with the customers. Nothing looks rushed; he gives them good instruction in how to stand, line up the sights, how to hold the gun, even to some self defense with a pistol. I remember the first time I shot at another range, the guy just told me to point down range and pull the trigger, which is pretty terrifying if you've never done this sort of thing before. It's a good range, the people who go are friendly and professional, Steve is a good guy who adds character, and I get to shoot shit without feeling endangered. read more

I've gone to almost every shooting range in the area, and by far Pistol People is the best. When you walk into the shop, you'll meet Steve, the owner. He's retired US Army, and a retired Philadelphia police officer (from the days of Frank Rizzo when there were more killings in that city in 1 year than the past 5). Bottom line, he's got a good amount of knowledge on firing, maintaining, and training for firearms. He's got a great personality, he'll crack jokes and say outrageous things while you're there simply to see if you break concentration while he's teaching you (before firing of course). If you faulted he corrects the issue. He does this to give you a "real world" atmosphere for personal defense training- face it, out on the streets there will be many distractions. Steve will take the time to teach a beginner to fire like a pro, or critique someone to hone their skills, and best of all- he trains women who have been abused to defend themselves against attackers. The range is small and is less flashy than other places, but that's good because you won't get distracted. Everything is kept near and orderly . If you want a good range that offers FREE training and will prepare you to stay alive, visit Steve. Tell him Chuck and his son, Mike sent you in. read more

I visited Pistol People range for the first time and when I was greeted by the guy at the desk, my first impression was he was a little rude... But as I got to talking to him he was a really good dude. He really cares about teaching people about firearm safety and how to defend yourself. The facility have all the supplies I needed to make it a great day at the range. The amo are priced well the ventilation is good and there's no waiting for lanes. I will definitely visit Pistol People again and Steve is just the guy to run the place... He truly cares and it shows. read more

If you were looking 4 an outstanding shooting experience, look no further than Pistol People in Langhorne, PA. As a self-proclaimed newbie, I was looking 4 guidance instruction and assistance with my gun purchase. I found them all with Steve. An absolutely Top Notch Instruction Center... Owner/Instructor Steve is truly an incredibly patient, kind, knowledgeable & firmly committed to assisting each individual student with their pistol instruction. My recent class consisted of three pupils & never ever felt rushed nor uncomfortable . I found his guidance incredibly helpful and he certainly can narrow any interested student in selecting an appropriate handgun regardless of manufacturer. Steve is a true gentleman and I have nothing but kudos to him and ultimate respect for his facility, ability and guidance. read more

Being new to the area, I'm looking for a range to use. I've visited several and each have their pluses and minuses, but as soon as I walked into Pistol People I immediately knew that I wouldn't be shooting there. But, I thought I'd ask a few basic questions to the owner about services and such. He gave me the impression that I was wasting his time. He was very curt, and borderline rude with just two questions from me. Now, I don't know what kind of air I give off, but as a business, if you run off people willing to lay down hundreds of dollars for your product, in this case handguns and range usage, that's a recipe for not staying in business too long. I won't be going back. And I'll advise my friends not to either. read more

I have to agree with Courtney's assessment. The first and only time I walked into the place, I took about 3 steps inside the door and was greeted by a woman in her mid-20's pointing a Glock at me. As you can imagine, I immediately jumped back in absolute fear. (Hell, I thought I walked in to the wrong door and was down range or something.) It turns out the owner was giving her "shooting lessons" in the middle of the lobby. They laughed it off like it was a big joke, but I just turned around and walked right out. read more

No frills type of establishment, but they have what you need. I'm not sure if they rent guns and/ or sell ammo since I brought my own. The staff is great and very down to earth. I'm a new shooter and one of the guys came out and gave me some much appreciated tips. One of the days that I went it was busy, but the other customers were respectful and cordial. This is my go to place. read more

When our oldest son moved out he left a ton of ammo and we didn't want to put it in the trash ( for fear of someone getting hurt ) so we decided to take the rounds down here to Steve and he could use them as rounds for people who want to test fire a gun before buying it, which saved Steve money on broken boxes of ammo. As I have said before Steve is hands down the most honest gun dealer in lower bucks county and whatever you decide to purchase there you will not be disappointed. read more

Ok, I been to this place a few times now and I seriously do not even understand where these negatives reviews are coming from. This place is great!. It's local which is a big plus, the staff actually cares about you and your safety and all around some of the most good natured people I have met at a range and that also includes the other patrons. Again, I just don't get the negative reviews, I'm speculating they either have an axe to grind with the owner for whatever reason, have horrible attitudes to begin with or must be some competitor trying to sway people not to patronize the place. Mine and my wife's experience here has been nothing but positive, overall they have been great. read more
