Great working with you guys today needed a gun smith to help with my sig build help and got me on my way. Their gun smith is very knowledgeable and nice. If I didn't have to get back to work probably still be there talking to him lol. Great shop wish I lived closer. read more

The Gun Center - Had a stripped screw and needed information on my build process gun smith help me out even with him being a Glock guy still helped out. - Guns & Ammo Near Me - Frederick, Maryland

Really nice selection of hunting firearms and scopes at affordable prices. The shop has limited hours for shopping after work.

Everyone who works at the store is incredibly nice and exceptionally helpful. Employees are knowledgeable and happy to answer any and all questions. Store layout is simple and effective! I will definitely be returning. read more

My wife and I wanted to explore some options on a new handgun. The clerk greeted my by telling me that the store was not open although the shop closes at 6:00pm. I then asked to see one of the handguns which he sharply replied "you can't touch the guns." We left and advise all people of color to avoid this business. read more

The Gun Center - Racist establishment!! - Guns & Ammo Near Me - Frederick, Maryland

I was bequeathed a WWII luger from my father. I brought it to the gun center to learn about it: can it fire 2023 9mm rounds; what is it worth; how do I keep it in sound shape? The fellow who helped me was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, patient and offered good advice. read more

The owner was rude and abrasive. I thanked him for his time and walked out....for the next hour I was speechless. I can't comprehend how someone can interact with his customers in such rude manner. I asked basic questions and was treated as though I were trash that wasn't worth his time. I'd rather donate my cash to a gun control activist group than buy a gun from this establishment. If this is what your looking for in customer service.....this is the gunshop for you! read more

My absolute FAVORITE gun shop. Have always been nice and very knowledgeable. Sometimes I even go to just talk! My mom recently came to visit and we went to the shop to help her figure out the right pistol for her. (They found it) If military surplus rifles are your thing make sure to check the used gun rack!!! I bought my Mosin-Nagamt M91/30 from there. Also check their ammo rack they have M2 Ball 30-06 for your M1 Garand, 7.62 x 54R, .303 British and more!!! Overall I would highly recommend this place to anyone. read more

I hesitated doing business with this store because of all the negative comments. I visited after calling several gun shops because this one could get the S&W Equalizer sooner than the others. I made the nearly one hour drive ready to deal with any negativity, but there was none. The shop was professional, knowledgeable, and courteous...during the paperwork and answering questions I had. The weapon came in when promised and I was notified. I took my daughter there weeks later to get her weapon and got the same treatment. In fact we had very enlightening conversations. I am Black, and from experience, can pick up on when establishments don't want to work with you. I dealt with the owner mostly, but a couple of times when the owner was out, I got the same treatment. This is my first time writing a review, but based on what I expected after reading earlier reviews, I think this shop earned a better review from me. read more

Their staff is terrible, if you want to be treated like an open wallet that should never have a question, this is the place to go. Want one word email responses? These are your guys. Want to pay new gun prices for used equipment? They got your back. Why would you ever go here when there are so many other options both in state and in PA? Well there's none read more

Kevin helped me through the whole process. Being a new gun owner I had many questions and he answered them all. I appreciate his patience and guidance, it made it much easier with his assistance. read more

I went in this place to ask about gun safes. The owner was an arrogant ass. The other reviewers really are not exaggerating. I do not know how they stay in business. I have never been treated the way this jerk treated me in any business ever. I bought a very nice gun safe somewhere else. I would never buy anything from this place ever unless the owner fires himself. Go to Hendershots sporting goods in Hagerstown they are attentive, knowledgable and not to good to help their customers. read more

Went there to see if they had any ammo. They had none so I asked why do you think there is a shortage. The guy said...its the peoples fault. When I said, with whats going on now, it might get even harder to get ammo. The guy in the back spoke up and said in a pissed off manner, please dont bring that up in this store. I didnt know if he was getting political and wondering if I was on the other side. No idea. He was insulting and rude. Was not in the mood to listen to his bull..... He didnt know if I was there to spend $10,000 dollars or a dollar and thanks to his attitude I wont ever go back. I am a big 2nd Amendment supporter and its people like me that have kept his store open. 0 Stars read more

Nice store, lots of knowledge and experience. Yea, they can be a little cranky but most specialty stores are like that. If you want service or advice for something unusual that, Dicks Sporting can't provide, this is the place. If you are a First time gun buyer and have lots of questions and little knowledge, this might not be the best place for you. If you are very experienced and looking for a place to buy, trade, service and supply, this is your place. read more

I attempted to purchase a rifle from this business. After waiting 5 months (payjng for the rifle in full) I went to the store only to be insulted and degraded by one of the clerks the owner himself. The clerk actually gave me the middle finger when I requested a full refund and the owner threatened to call the police if I didn't wait outside while he processed my CC refund. After the refund was processes he indicated he would still receive the weapon and would give me a call to see if i was still interested. I told him to shove the rifle up his A** and left. DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE! read more

I am glad so many others experienced this rude, horrid place. I was beginning to wonder if it's me, but I guess it's just that JERKS run gun shops! I was in there once a few weeks ago with my husband, and I was surprised how rude and unaccommodating they were, but I figured they were just busy. Today it was far less crowded, and I went to buy a $1500 gun. One guy ignored me - then the other said someone would be right with me - then they BOTH proceeded to help people who came in the store AFTER me. Uncool. I'll find someone else who wants my $1500. EDIT: Please note that there are 9 other reviews for this place that are not listed (click below to see them) and they are ALL one-star. This place is horrendous. The guy who gave 4 stars up there ^^ and who seems to think that the rest of us are ignorant about guns just lucked out! Or maybe the owner is taking his meds now! read more

The customer service is very poor, largely because of the attitudes of the employees, but most especially the owner. You are treated as if you're an inconvenience even when you're purchasing their good/merchandise. I readily admit that they know more than me, much more than me, they're probably experts. So, why do they feel the need to treat you with such contempt and condescension? read more

I went there looking for a gun to buy. The owner of the store was extremely rude and abrasive. For no apparent reason, this guy had a chip on his shoulder; this guy appeared to have a serious temper problem. I turned and just thanked them for their time and left. I was completely dumbfounded as to what just happened and why this owner was so rude. No of this made any sense. The next day I meet a friend and we talked about how my gun search went, I told him where I went and before I could finish he started to tell me how rude the owner was and he will never step foot in that store again. This was 4-5 years ago. read more

Went in to ask questions about a $3000 gun. The staff is extremely rude and abrasive. My father and I left the store dumbfounded. Who spends money at a store where they are insulted??? The salesperson even argued with my father over the exact name of the gun, in what world is that necessary? Do not go here- the machine gun nest is down the street and their service is a million times better. read more

I came here to purchase a present for my boyfriend. I had an idea of what he wanted but knew little about that options available. Not only did the guy show me all my options, he wrote them all down for me. When I came back he let me make payments on my selection. I had a good experience here but I can understand why others might be peeved. The older gentleman only helps one person at a time. I had to wait my turn but I saw some people just leave when they weren't acknowledged. He's very knowledgable in his products but lacks customer services skills. But hey, he's a man of a certain age. read more

Most rude staff and poor customer service I have ever experienced in the gun industry. Would not allow any customers in the showroom and was not respectful of Federal ADA guidelines for handicap accessibility and accommodation. Poor inventory from what I was able to view from the door, as that was the closest you could get to the stock. With so many choices in the area, please spend your time and money anywhere but at The Gun Center! read more

Nice enough physical on site selection of guns and ammunition, but definitely overpriced. After comparing the Gun Center's pricing to 3 other local Gun Shops I found the Gun Center to be the highest. Also the owner Bill (usually) on site sitting at his perch by the door, is the most customer un-friendly owner that I have ever come across. He rules his little kingdom with an iron fist and heaven forbid you should ask a naive question or suggest a too low offer on a trade in. Be prepared to be talked down to in his highly rude and condesending manner. Save your time and trouble and take your business elsewhere. read more

If I was allowed to give 0 stars I would. brought my 870 in to have the dimple removed so it could accept a magazine tube extension. When I walked in I asked the man behind the counter if I could drop the gun off for the gunsmith. instead of leaving it to the gunsmith, he decided to run a large punch through the magazine tube to remove the dimples and at the same time stretching the threads. the follower would no longer stop but instead fly into the receiver. his fix was cranking down on the new extension and sending me on my way with a live round in the tube magazine. upon return to speak with the manager I was told I would be responsible for the cost of all repairs and that I should not be allowed to own a firearm. read more

I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. I broke my sight on the rifle I just purchased from them. The put it on for me without me even asking. Great service! Thank you. read more

I stopped by the store because I was interested in purchasing a handgun, what arrogant a-hole, after a short conversation I just left. It's amazing this store is still in business. read more

I called to see if they recieved my paperwork after sending an email AND leaving a message with no response and they said they would cancel my sale because they were too busy to check on the status of the $775. purchase I made. WOW! Go somewhere else! They are OVERPRICED anyway. read more

I went in to ask a few questions and see what the place was like. I was met with offensive arrogance and testosterone by the man who appeared to be a shot caller (owner maybe?). There was another unassuming young fellow there who seemed to be more helpful but by that time I was turned off. The prices were a little higher too which I might pay in trade for good service. Unfortunately I did not find any. I will not be going back. read more

Just don't. The review below is accurate. Arrogant, aggressive, rude, overpriced, and do a poor job at explaining state regulations or paperwork. Essentially, you will wait ridiculous amounts of time so that you can write a check for an overpriced gun and a large side of verbal assault. read more

Wow! I don't know why my experience was so different than (seemingly) everyone else's but, I think Kevin is about as knowledgeable and forthright as anyone I've dealt with lately. The fact that I kinda already knew what I was looking for, combined with an extensive previous firearms background, probably had something to do with it but, I got GREAT service. If you're in the market for a firearm, you'll find few places with a better in-stock inventory. Yes, the prices are a little on the high side of full retail, which is the only reason I won't give The Gun Center five stars. I definitely appreciated the guidance thru the MD HQL process, though - http://mdsp.org isn't the most user-friendly site - and the satisfaction of knowing that I'm buying from people who know what the heck they're selling. That's worth a couple extra bucks to me. My advice to potential buyers is do your homework before walking into ANY gun shop without a clue - because I kinda get the impression that's what may have happened with one or more of the previous reviewers who rated The Gun Center only one star. I was treated with the utmost professional courtesy and respect. That's all I know! read more

Great guys in here, and a good selection. Friendly, knowledgeable and fairly priced. What more can you ask for?

Wow, overpriced is a gross understatement. Rude....most definitely. Its partly my fault because I didn't do enough research on pricing, but I was up against the oct. 1 deadline. I purchased an Ar15 that was "on sale" for $1200 down from $1600. Well after purchasing it I realized the gun can be had for $6-700 all day online. They were certainly not nice enough to lube my up first . That on hurt. DO NOT GIVE THESE A-HOLES ANY MONEY! read more

I bought a glock 27 here a month ago. I was told by the person who sold it to me, it would be 3 weeks or so before the paper work would be back. I called last week and got no answer so I left a message. Never got a return call. I called back today and was met with the most rude interaction with a company I have ever had. The tone of the person was arrogant and obnoxious. He basically laughed at me and talked down to me saying the paperwork wouldn't be in for some time. Then I was told not to call back and check anymore, they would call me. I am a Deputy Sheriff and have never been talked to this way before... Not even by criminals. Once I claim my glock I will never go back. read more

All the reviews are correct. They are not service oriented at all. They will talk down to you. They will treat you like an idiot. They are price gougers. They wont talk to you if you want to order a firearm. After the gun panic of 2013 is over, I don't suspect that they will be in business much longer. There are much friendlier Armorers around. Heck. Bass Pro is much better than The Gun Center. read more

If possible I would give less than 1 star. My advice, DO NOT BUY HERE. Go to Skeeters in Smithsburg or Gun Shack in Mt Airy. Gun Center is overpriced and the employees are rude. If they weren't the only place in the area that had the gun I wanted, I would never have bought from there. read more

My husband went in and purchased a gun...no assistance in filling out the state application....paid for it in full and waited almost 2 months because they do not send the applications as they recieve...only when they feel they have enough to do so. My husband called to check on the status and was told they sold the gun he had paid for already and he needed to reapply AS HE HAD LIED on his application. His application came back on hold due to a question from the state. The Gun Center never contacted him at all to speak with him, they just sold the gun and held onto our money. It took almost 3 weeks with numerous phone calls as all staff said ONLY the owner can issue a credit back on the credit card...yet they had sold the gun a month earlier. Ended up, that we had to have the Frederick City Police make an appearance for us to get the money back accusing them of theft of money for no goods recieved...and the "hold" placed on my husbands application was completely administrative (our last name is Smith) and resolved with no problems AND NO LIES as they accused my husband of. RUN from this place...horrible, arrogant and borderline criminal dealings...taking money and selling the goods prior to refunding. STAY CLEAR. read more
