Every time I have come here it, each visit would get slightly more aggravating. Their public hours are lacking, however at least they open at 9AM on the weekends. The check in process is usually fairly quick. They provide eye and ear pro, and a selection of 5-6 different type of target with no extra charge. Going to the range is where it gets bad. You will get some kind of comment from the RO every single time. While I am not opposed to tight safety, each time it gets a little more ridiculously arbitrary. It's always based on something that happened with a customer in the past. The amount of restrictions has reached a critical mass at this point. I would consider myself a reasonably safe and mindful shooter, and I just want to shoot in peace. It gets annoying having someone stare over your shoulder constantly. It kills any semblance of fun. Overall, this place seems to be targeting new shooters. Anyone that shoots more than 2-3 times will have outgrown this place by that point. This is most evident with their pricing. The classes, ammo, and their gun store are extremely overpriced. I would even opine the pricing is predatory, targeting people who just don't know any better. As someone who keeps up to date on ammo prices in general, I can say that the ammo there is sold at 2-3x times the price you could get it online. The ammo is also usually the absolute cheapest you can buy of that caliber. Usually, it's limited to that one batch/brand they have at the time. The gun store prices charge anywhere between a 25-40% markup on firearms. The selection is decently sized at least, but I would still recommend shopping elsewhere. Judging based on my experience over the last year or so, I will be looking for a different range to go to. The two stars is for the fact they keep it clean and relatively fresh looking.

Awesome experience…read more I used Eastern as an FFL to pick up a handgun I bought online. Easy-peasy and reasonable transfer fee. Very unprofessional and untrustworthy experience. TK Defense transferred firearms to Eastern Armory…read moreso I could legally take possession of them. Eastern Armory then offered $500 total for three high-value firearms and repeatedly tried to buy the .300 Blackout AR pistol after I declined. Less than an hour later, they claimed they were "not comfortable" completing the transfer and turned all firearms over to Montgomery County Police and State Police without providing clear reasoning or documentation. I received conflicting information, poor follow-up, and no real assistance in resolving what happened. Be very cautious dealing with this business. I do not trust this place and would advise others to be very cautious. Don't Recommend! REPLY TO NICK-BUSINESS OWNER-12/14/2025 Thank you, Nick, for responding. I appreciate the responsibility you have as an FFL to ensure lawful and safe transfers, and I understand the need for caution. However, several important clarifications should have been communicated to me clearly and directly at the time, rather than after the fact. The "prohibited person" you reference is my brother, which should have been obvious, as we share the same last name. TK Defense was fully aware of this as well. When I made statements such as "let me check with my brother," "my brother will come with me," or "my brother will drive me to the store," I was not referring to that brother. I have more than one brother. The brother I was referring to also holds a valid Maryland HQL (Nick, call me if you need to verify this), is knowledgeable about those firearms, and was simply someone I was consulting with and who would have accompanied me. Because the transaction was halted before I ever arrived, any assumption that I intended to bring a prohibited person into the transfer process is speculative and unverified. I understand precaution; however, precaution should be grounded in facts, not assumptions. Additionally, I want to note that a woman consulting with a male about firearms does not equate to a straw purchase or transfer. Given the increasing number of African American women lawfully engaging in firearm ownership, it is important that lawful behavior not be mischaracterized simply because guidance or assistance is sought. I also want to add that I figured out your speculation, as someone from the store called me more than 10 times within a single hour. During the first call, based on saying the word "items", he stated, "I figure you are around people and can not talk". That same individual acknowledged this, yet called nine additional times in a row. He was acting like I sat around doing straw purchase/transfer for others as a full-time job, as if I didn't have a full-time job.

Here is the longer review if the TLDR didn't suffice: Let me start off by saying that i've been a target shooter for close to 17 years and a maryland resident all my life. In college, I have also worked at a local gun shop in maryland before, though those days are behind me. I possess a c&r license and while I primarily collect older firearms I've got plenty of modern rifles and handguns and am getting into competitive shooting. I am writing this review as someone who has 1. Consigned a firearm at this store and had it sold for me there 2. Purchased a firearm at this store 3. Hung out and window shopped several times. My experience at this store has been so overwhelmingly positive that it has likely supplanted several of the other local shops in rockville that are closer to me. The atmosphere of the store is relaxed with seating and a free mini fridge stocked with sodas, water, and a coffee maker all completely free. The store is also clean, organized, and aesthetically pleasing with a social and relaxed atmosphere. The two gentleman that run this store are unbelievably friendly and outgoing which is often not the case in many gun stores. They are both knowledgeable with one specializing in antique / c&r firearms and the other in modern firearms and equipment. I find the two gentleman to be a great balance to each other and enjoy the time that I spend in the store perusing inventory and speaking with them every time i've gone. If I had to offer one critique, it would perhaps be the small size of the store. This is nitpicky though as they have a decent inventory and are seemingly able to order most anything you need if you talk with them AND one very cool thing they offer is a look for list where they will take your information down and contact you if that special piece shows up at the store (I'm currently looking for a world war one era German Luger). I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to both Rick and Alex for raising the bar of local gun shops. -Simmons
