I loved my stay at the guild! I really like the automated system. I already talk to people so much, if I can do it online and skip waiting in line, I am allll for it! The apartment was clean, spacious and very comfortable. They were very prompt in responses when I texted with my questions. They had large containers of shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the showers. I had two labeled conditioner, and couldn't tell if the body wash and shampoo were the same thing - guess it doesn't matter, basically the same stuff. It smelled great. There's tea and coffee in the lobby 24/7 in addition to a coffee maker and French press and kettle in the room. read more

This weekend stay at the Guild was completely amazing. I had originally planned to stay at an AirBnB and the reservation had been made, but with software glitch on that booking, the fare was completely inaccurate and the real fare was about 5 times what I had booked for. So the homeowner cancelled the reservation at the rate that I had paid and I was going to be stuck without a place to stay. Well...in came Guild Red River to the rescue. When I looked on Expedia and found the place it had great reviews, looked nice and was centrally located. The facility is a luxury apartment building that has rooms that are available to rent. When I say "rooms", it is actually the whole apartment unit, including kitchen, living room, bedroom, balcony, bathroom - all of which are much larger than a typical hotel room. Most of the communication with the Guild staff/booking department is via text messaging which is very convenient. They are available 24/7 and return the messages very quickly. When my friends and I were getting close to Austin, the staff had already sent us text messages about how to access the rooms, codes, key locations, garage access, etc. We realized we were going to arrive early and texted the staff and they were able to confirm that the rooms were clean and ready and we were given access without any problems. The rooms were gigantic, plenty of space, nice furnishings, neat decorations (mine even had an old record player and vintage 1970's Joan Baez, Roseanne Cash and other albums that were cool to listen to). Plenty of clean dishes, silverware, coffee pot, french press, and all the kitchen accessories we could have needed if we wanted to prep food and eat in the room. The kitchen was also stocked with all the coffee fixings (creamer, sugar, sweeteners, stirrers, etc.). There was cold water bottles in the fridge as well. Even a few nice extra little things like earplugs in case there is any noise or if your husband/wife snores (LOL). And a nice welcome greeting card personally signed by someone on the staff. The bedding was comfortable and I slept very well. Every interaction we had with the staff either on the phone or thru text message was promptly handled, expertly addressed. The staff was friendly, patient and accommodating in every possible way. The place was great, clean, inviting, interesting, relaxing and I give it 5+ stars.... but the staff takes the cake on the exact way to treat your guests. I felt that they went above and beyond on every facet and I would give them 10 stars if I could. I was totally impressed. Even though it isn't a "hotel" with a doorman, valet parking or any of those typical "hotel" perks, this place was more than I would have expected and I may never stay at a hotel in Austin again if I can book a room at the Guild. This is an apartment/shared hotel complex-no frills here. You will have "virtual concierge" to assist you via text and emails only, especially after 6pm and on the weekends. Yes, it is in a great location right next door to Stubb's BBQ on Red River so there will be live music until after 12am. Bring your luggage/cooler on wheels because you will be walking & hauling it all yourself. Check in was supposed to be after 3 pm but we were not granted access until after 5:30 pm. (They did comp us 2 drinks @ Pelon's Tex-Mex across the street for the inconvenience but we there was an hour wait to get in there so no drinks.) Our entry codes to access the room did not work - had to have it sent 4x until we finally were granted access. (Thank you Cruz for your assistance while there-very helpful.) NOTE: If you can't get into the room you cannot get your key fob to gain access to the underground parking garage so you will have to find parking. Strongly suggest having someone drop one person off to the main entrance to run in and grab garage fob from room - do not try to park illegally or you will be towed. Thumbs up: The room was a great set up and with a super comfy bed and fold out futon in the living room area. Full kitchen, washer, dryer and bathroom with big closet. Everything was clean and looked good. Thumbs down: No extra linens for futon upon arrival - requested when set up reservation - they were dropped later while we were gone. There was no TP to be found anywhere. :/ Not for the business traveler for sure but if you're cool with doing it all yourself pretty much, it's a decent place to stay. read more

Obsessed. Literally. We came into Austin, initially having an Airbnb. I wasn't comfortable there at all, woke up at 3 am to weird noises. I immediately began looking for hotels. Finding the Guild was an interesting look. It's cheaper than a hotel - but it's a full scale apartment? Modern apartment? Too good to be true, right? Well it's real. The service isn't at a front desk, but they are outstanding. The guy helping me let me check in in the middle of the wee morning hours because he knew I was uncomfortable. They charge $20 a night to park in their garage, but still it's not bad. Adding it together with the cost of stay is still cheaper than a hotel. I'd definitively stay with the Guild again. read more

We came to get away from Hurricane Harvey's effects in Houston for a couple days. From the start we were met with a very very easy check-in process. You fill out a Short form that they send you via text, including taking a picture of yourself with your drivers license. They send you a confirmation with very easy instructions on how to get to the room The room was gorgeous! Loved the unique Austin art and how spacious the apartment was. Very very clean, loved that they the space stocked with towels, dishes, and lots of good books. The record player was a fun touch (we liked listening to Bing Crosby and a few of the other records included). The patio area leading directly to the pool (separated by a gate) was wonderful. We wish we were staying longer, and will definitely be back the next time we're in Austin! read more

Awesome stay at the Guild in Austin. Really easy process from booking to receiving emails on how to check in. There was no human interaction so it felt like you were staying at your own apartment. The room itself was roomy, AC was a plus, nice coffee maker, laundry machines were useful, and had everything we needed during our stay. Staff was easy to communicate with either through text or email. It was right across the street from Stubbs bbq and a great food truck called Arlo's. The area itself isn't as nice as the Congress Ave area and you would come across homeless people asking for change. Overall, the Guild is well priced, roomy, and a perfect place to stay while in Austin. read more

I needed a last minute hotel 1 week before Euphoria in Austin and the Guild Red River was an absolute perfect, wonderful experience! I would definitely stay there again and recommend to anyone. It was so much better, very personal, easy and more accommodating than a traditional hotel. Great design feel, lobby, shared spaces (pool, gym) and decorations inside the room were very fitting for the young party scene that is Red River Austin. Everything you could ever need for a short or long stay. May be TMI, but I appreciate the tampons, very considerate and unexpected. Great price compared to the other hotels near by. I had a very pleasant experience staying here. For what ended up being actually less expensive than a hotel, we stayed in a HUGE one bedroom apartment that comfortably slept two of us but could have fit more easily. I cannot express how nice it was to have a full kitchen and two bathrooms instead of a hotel. Not to mention, the Guild team made arrival, check in and communication a breeze. Each time I asked a question they responded over text within minutes. They also accommodated a late check out free of charge. The Beverly (the apartment complex) is a little tricky to get into the first time but after you learn the key fob/door procedure it's great. The apartment was clean, spacious, well located and nicely furnished. The on-site amenities of pool and seating by the creek were great as well. Highly recommended, thanks Guild team! read more

While the concierge when we arrived before our reservation was able to get our luggage held for us and put in the room for once we arrived, we then walked in (no concierge at this point and main beautiful entrance locked up) to the side entrance FULL OF VOMIT. All over the floor, no joke. After getting past this issue we proceeded up to our room where our room code would not work. Damien, the over-the-phone assistant was very helpful in resetting the code, but that on its own was too much. Great location and beautiful room, hence the 3 stars, but pretty disappointed. read more

The Guild reminds me of Jeff Goldblum's classic Jurassic Park quote: "they spent too much time wondering if they could do it, and not enough time wondering whether they should." Here are the things that an average business traveler wants after a 16 hour day on the road in an unfamiliar city: 1. A clean bed 1a. That is easy to get to (this is important) 2. A reasonable expectation that you can park your car without it getting towed 3. A hassle free way to get from said car to the aforementioned bed. 4. Quiet. Thus far, the Guild has failed to deliver on 4 out of 5 of these requirements. I'll have to report back on whether I get a skin rash from the bed. I should've known after the third time they asked for a picture of my ID and my face via text message that this would be unpleasant. Nevertheless, I persisted. Upon arrival, it took a full 30 minutes to actually get (either a bot or an exceptionally challenged) "virtual concierge" to give me the information I needed to get into the building. All while I was parked illegally, betting on which drunk scooter rider was going to raise my insurance rates. Once I finally got into the building, any sense of ambiance was lost as I sprinted through the hallways in a suit trying to get back to the rental car before it was either towed or covered in "keep Austin weird" stickers. The initial reservation says you will have a specific parking spot and passive aggressively threatens that they'd "hate for you to get towed" if you don't pay attention to where you need to park. Yet, there's just a vaguely general parking area that I'd characterize my faith in as a slight shrug - so we'll see if I get towed in the morning. There is also a two factor identification that the elevator needs to even function. That's great for security (maybe) - not so much for someone carrying two suitcases who can positively identify the puddle of dip spit they're about to put their bag down into so they can Indiana-Jones an elevator call button. The keypad on the room door has such poor sensitivity that it took me a full ten tries to open it. Once inside, the staff think it's cute to play a game of "hide the ironing board" - a strong contender for the #5 spot on "things most important to a business traveler." Once I finally do get to sit down, what do I hear? The ambient sounds of live music and drunk college kids screaming in the bar below my balcony window. Fun. This hotel has spent too much time trying to provide a "unique experience" and not enough time mastering the basics. Protip: the only unique hotel experience left for humanity is to sleep in outer space. For all of the business travelers out there: bite the bullet and stay at one of the regular hotels. It'll cost more money, but whatever extra you spend will be worth the lack of stress you'll have at your high powered business meeting the next day. Guild Red River is amazing. Forget finding a hotel, just stay at the Guild Red River. It's basically an apartment for the price of a hotel. Inside you'll find a modern vibe, everything is clean and comfortable. You get everything, full kitchen, multiple kitchen appliances, cozy living room, super comfortable bed and even a full bathroom with double sinks. SUPER CLEAN. When you book this place, you are guided all the way with fully detailed instructions on everything you need to know on how to check in, communication with Guild Red River was top notch! They answered any questions that we had and made sure we have everything that we need. They also have their own parking garage so you don't have to worry about street parking. The apartment is very quiet, spacious and super relaxing. The Guild Red River is found right in the middle of Austin, TX. and provides an excellent place to stay for anyone visiting with excellent customer service to back it up. We will be staying here again the next time we are in town, for sure. read more

I was in town for a longer stay & it was so much more convenient to have a hotel that was really an apt - balcony to enjoy a glass of wine at end of day / laundry in unit / kitchen so I didn't have to go out for every single meal. Also the little touches - french press - made it even better. Customer service was super A++ ** Note ** There is no front desk. You'll need to have a code / directions that are sent to you via text. If you've not received that after booking, follow up so you have everything you need. Excellent one week stay at the Red River Guild. We really enjoyed the apartment. Liked the concept and we would definitely look into staying at other Guild properties. Fully functioning kitchen with utensils and an in-apartment washer and dryer was great to have. Bed and linens very comfortable. Nice decor. Having a collection of used records, phonograph and used books to use and browse was a nice touch as was the beer mugs in the freezer. Communications through text messaging was very convenient, responses very timely. Our stay coincided with hallway repainting. Not ideal but it was fine because we were kept up to date with texts. Tip: if you decide to take a dip in the pool get the pass code AND bring the provided key fob (garage) , it is needed for reentry. We almost got trapped outside since we didn't bring bring it to the pool. We didn't have our cellphones either to text for help. Fortunately a resident was outside and helped get us back in. Guild folks should probably have that info posted in the apartment somewhere. read more

I came to Austin to do a little gallery hopping and buy some art. I'm a big fan of the of the full amenities room. This place is that, an much more. This was a small apartment with 1.5 bathroom with full shower and two person tub. Perfect for at least a two day stay. Since eating out every meal can get pricey for a couple of people, there is a fully equipped kitchen with condiments like garlic, olive oil packets, salt and pepper, etc. Buy a few groceries through the Guild or bring your own. I knew there was a washer and dryer, but detergent too? It was comfortable and clean. I couldn't ask for a better setup. Now for every good, there's a few things that might put a damper on your visit. First, I'll point out that I'm in my 50's, tech savvy and open to trying new things. Everything is done by text and information is all online, but there is always someone available by phone and response is fast. Pay attention to the instructions and the way to a great experience is yours. I probably should have paid attention more. The vetting process to get the room is a little bit much, but I get it. The area has a few people that I might call a little less fortunate or down on their luck but you wouldn't know it once inside. Besides, there are concerts and people of all types everywhere. I felt good about the whole experience. I did stay on a night that The venue below us had a concert going on. I didn't need a ticket for that one. Now I know why the earplugs were supplied. If you know and embrace the slogan, "keep Austin weird", you'll have a great time. This will be my place whenever I visit Austin. read more

I decided to attend a conference at the downtown Hilton Austin at the last minute. The hotel options were not great - either $400 a night for mid-quality property to stay out by the airport. Then came Guild Red River. It was a great price and great location. I was a little thrown off at first by the registration process (easy, but a bit different). I missed my flight the day of arrival. My luggage was on one plane and I was no another. I immediately texted the Guild folks and they were super responsive. Even called back to check in on me. I finally arrived at Guild much later than anticipated - around midnight. I had a brief challenge getting in (probably due to fatigue). Guild was there via text and phone to immediately help me resolve. This is more than a room. It is a spacious, well-decorated one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen. The furniture was modern, fun and funky. But most of all comfortable. The bathroom was well stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash and other helpful items. The Guild folks were always available - so easy to text for advice on restaurants and sites. What a great concept!!! I can't wait until they open in more cities. The apartment was fabulous and service was fantastic. Super recommend this for anyone looking for a hotel in downtown Austin. read more

My husband and I stayed at The Guild Red River in Austin for our anniversary. The Guild gave us vague and unclear parking instructions for hotel guests. As a result, my husband's car was towed even though The Guild was at fault. When we expressed our concerns to The Guild, the management was unsympathetic and would not reimburse the towing fee. We will never rent through this hotel company again. read more

We loved our stay at The Guild! The apartment was spotless when we arrived. We were asked if we'd like to stock the kitchen with anything and we requested a few groceries. Everything was there when we got in that evening. Waters in fridge, snacks on counter!!!! The decor was so unique. Their designer has a funky edge and it was so refreshing to see so many artistic details executed effortlessly. I can go on and on about all of the details but I'm just going to put it simply: The Guild Staff thought of EVERYTHING to make their guests comfortable!!!!! My favorite part was being able to text them. They were so easy to reach and communicate with; we even joked around a bit. We will definitely be staying Guild next time we're in Austin. After 3 months they sent me a letter telling me of data breach. No offer to pay for credit monitoring like all other companies do,just instructions on freezing credit and info on costs to unfreeze. Don't stay with any of these hotels if you don't want credit id theft issues and fees. read more

NEVER STAY AT THE GUILD RED RIVER!!! My wife and I stayed at The Guild Red River in Austin, Texas for our anniversary. Instructions were sent to register my vehicle for hotel guest parking. Later that night, my vehicle was towed by the management of The Guild, even though their website was unclear and vague about parking in specific spots in the parking structure. The Guild was at fault and would not reimburse the towing fee. The management was unprofessional and unsympathetic to an unfortunate situation that could have been prevented by The Guild. We will never stay at this hotel again. read more

I was very impressed with the accommodations; the check in instructions were concise and the apartment was clean and very nice with free coffee in the apartment and in the building. Plenty of linens and towels and all the shower necessity in a dispenser in the bathroom. They had little placards all over the apartment explaining different things. The pull out couch was large and very comfortable. The location was convenient to UT and sixth street. The homeless people were annoying but this is part of the city life and and they congregated close to 6th street. The only potential negative for some people is Stubbs BBQ is next door and from like 2 on Friday til late Sunday nite there was music going on which was quite loud. I actually enjoyed it but would be difficult if you were older or had children. I would definitely stay there again. read more

Everything about this experience was fabulous. The price was amazing which got my attention compared to the other nearby hotels, but the look and feel of everything was so modern and unique... I was intrigued. I was up for an adventure so why not give it a try. Adventure is a good word, because nothing is like a traditional hotel, but in the very best way. It started from the text messaging for handling the rest of our reservation details. That was pretty cool and super easy. I wasn't sure if it was an automated message on the other end, until we got to town and tried to figure the parking. Sure enough, one little text to them, and they were walking us through every step. Personal touch is everything! They are lovely people and the room was beyond my expectation. It really is a renovated apartment building. The style is fun and whimsical. The proximity to everything you need in downtown is perfect. Never going back to the traditional again. Do these exist in every town? If not, they should. Well done. read more
