We live a couple blocks from The Grubb and wanted to like it so badly. I'd ordered sandwiches once before a few weeks ago with no snags, so figured we'd try it again as a group. Unfortunately, after tonight we will never be going back, and I can't recommend it to anyone in good faith. The service we received was so so so disappointing. I would love for this place to improve and for this corner to find a home. At this rate, I just can't see it lasting until summer 2026. Summary below: - We ordered a few items for dinner, and received an estimate of 35-40 minutes. All good so far. - We show up after 40 minutes and nobody comes up to us at the counter for at least 5-6 minutes. Ok, fine. We tell them we're picking up and they go check on things. Keep in mind there are probably 4 people eating in this restaurant and no takeout line to speak of. - After a full hour they finally bring us a brown bag, and tell us it's all ready except for the chicken salad wrap we ordered, which they don't have on hand unfortunately. - "So when did you uncover this???" 10 minutes ago they say. Remember we've been here for 20. Would have been nice to know maybe when we ordered, or at least when we showed up 20 minutes ago?? - We say fine just grab us a Caesar salad, that should allow us to get out of here quickly. - After another 15 minutes (!) they finally bring us our Caesar salad. It has now been a total of 1:15 since our order. - After this ordeal they have the audacity to try to charge us an extra $15 on the bill!! When they tell me to swipe my card luckily I have the presence of mind to review things -- "um, this looks higher than I heard on the phone?" Sure enough, the total was incorrect and they tried to over-charge me. I really don't want to dump on The Grubb but it was just a sad sad experience and we were really so disappointed in the quality of service. It wasn't exactly overflowing with business on this night, and yet everyone seemed really overwhelmed and backed up (maybe understaffed or under-trained?). To make things worse, nobody was very apologetic or made much of an effort to make things right. Delicious egg, ham and cheese sandwich on a Kaiser Roll! Had as a takeout. Well worth the $

My Boys and I had the short stack (2) pieces of French toast with the chunks of breakfast potatoes with fried onions! Delicious and a nice big portion! The decor was really cool, and we loved the chalkboard ice cream board. The owner was very friendly and put Rio on for us to watch while we ate. If we ever travel back down we will stop in to eat! read more

was there 6/26, only a block from my house. Only 12 people in the restaurant, i sat at the counter and it took 47 minutes and 2 attempts to leave to get a chicken cheesesteak. I hate that this location turns over every 2 years and hope they will survive, but a couple of observations: 1) Empower the help to run the register, every customer has to wait for the owner to stop cooking and come out to ring them up 2) You need a signature dish that no one else has, I don't see it 3) A chicken steak is supposed to be shaved chicken, not chunks that are made from previously cooked breast that falls out of the sandwich 4) The taste was really good, the sauce and cheese excellent, just get with the program, no chunks, it's why i hate Randazzos chicken cheesesteak too 5) The owners need to go to Patronis or Jims in Philly or other top 10 steak shop and see how it's done read more

Wow! After seeing places come and go, even before the new building, I have to say that I hope this place stays. It was obvious to us that everything we ordered was made in house. Monster chicken tenders- all breast meat and coated in a home made batter. Not the usual frozen pre made sh-- like most other places on the island. Onion rings, same, potato skins had real bacon and again obvious this guy makes them in house. Burger was a good quality beef and again you could tell it wasn't previously frozen. Pizza Cheesesteak was large and served on Atlantic City bread. Side orders were all homemade and only $3. You really have to try this spot. It's a breath of fresh air on an island that generally serves cheap food at high prices. Been here since '92 so I think I have a good handle on the restaurants here Only thing I'll say is that there should be a radio or music playing (surf music?) as it was silent in there. read more

Awesome breakfasts. We both had scrams that were delicious and ample portions. Very reasonably priced. I new go-to for breakfast in OCNJ. They are open until 11PM so lunch and dinner available too. Recommend highly. read more

I should've noticed something was off when there was only one other group of people in there. I was glad about this because I was starving and thought the service would be quicker. However, it was not. It took at least an hour to get our food. How is that even possible when the restaurant is basically EMPTY?? To top it off, the food was disgusting and was literally inedible. Not one of my friends finished their food. We paid way too much money for the horrible service we experienced. Never going back ever again and I do not recommend. read more

We came in, there is 1 other family in there and we order and the food takes 2 hours and we are the only people in there so it made no sense why the food was taking so long. The service was just bad and one of my friends baked ziti tasted not normal. The buffalo chicken dip left all of our stomachs uneasy and the food was extremely expensive for the quality of it. We spent almost $100 for the 3 of us and not one of us finished our meals. My friend was in the bathroom 4 times after eating so clearly there was something wrong with the food.
