Readys Coffe shops is super good! Starting off strong their service is so fast and they always make sure they have everything you need. The whole place itself is really cute and kind of like a little tiny place. They also have outdoor seating which is perfect in the summer.Their food is so fresh and tasty. Technically the rating should be like a 3.25 stars, which indicates an average mediocre meal, which it was. 4 stars for service & 2.5 stars for food. My over medium eggs were on the small side and undercooked, my bacon was a overcooked (and I like it crispy) my home fries were lifeless & bland, my toast was barely toasted. I may have caught them on a bad day. It seems like most of the glowing reviews are for the vibe & staff, not the taste of the food. I HIGHLY recommend this lovely little breakfast cafe in OCNJ! We stopped here on a Saturday around noon and managed to get the last table outside. The food was reasonably priced and delicious, but what really made our experience great was our server Jill. She was so kind and helpful. We got the eggs benedict, egg plate, veggie burger, veggie omelette, and fries to share. Everything was delicious and a reasonable portion size. I highly recommend the fries in particular - so crispy and delicious! We also got the grilled cinnamon bun to share and it was insanely good. Ooey gooey buttery deliciousness. Stumbled upon this place this morning and I'm so glad I did! It's a small diner and coffee shop. It's not fancy/no frills but it was a great experience. We waited 20 minutes for a table on a Sunday morning. Once seated we were warmly greeted by our server Donna. The coffee was good and my mug was never empty. My meal was on point: delicious, fluffy blueberry pancakes, crispy bacon. My friends enjoyed their meal too. Everything came out hot and prepared exactly the way we ordered it. Open during corona virus! They are offering takeout during this time. We called ahead so we didn't have to wait once we got there. We got bacon egg and cheese on everything bagels and they were delicious. They also have to go coffee which was nice. The food was hot and fresh. food was decent, service was terrible, and I'm a waitress and rarely complain about service. it was cash only but this was the disclosed to me until after I got my food, so I had to send someone back to the hotel to get cash. order was slightly wrong but I didn't say anything. older waitress with grey headband gave me a huge attitude for politely asking a simple question about the check, then proceeded to call me "weird" within earshot of me to someone else. rest of the staff was nice, but this lady was exceptionally rude. I've been coming to OCNJ for 47 years and JUST found out about Ready's. Wow, we've really stayed in our bubble too long! It took biking from 57th street with my 13 year old son to stumble upon this gem the week of September 20, 2021! I say 'the week of' because we found it on day one and ate there every morning thereafter!! We were both hungry and most places were closed. A local noticed our annoyance...and hunger...and pointed out Ready's. We made a beeline for the place, right behind the local! She was headed there too! We could not have been more pleased with our food, the atmosphere, the waitresses...everything about this place feels like good!! We sat inside on day one and outside every other day. Their menu is pretty diverse with great options! Over several days we had omelets, potatoes, bacon, scrapple, ham, chocolate chip pancakes and peanut butter pancakes, stuffed french toast (recommended by the waitress and it was awesome!), the coffee is wonderful and their sweet raspberry tea is my son's favorite now! The waitress even sent us home with a travel cup of coffee and TWO raspberry teas! If she's reading this...we DID make it to Johnsons for the overflow bucket before we headed out of town. Can't be sure but this could have been the very first breakfast place I had ever been to.. 32 years ago. It's authentic. You really don't see any places like this anymore. And I know that sounds cliche but you really don't. It's a little small to be a diner. Its a little too robust to be a cafe. I know they call it a coffee shop but that name is a little decieving. I'd call it an old school Breakfast & Luncheonette. You'll see when you get there. Completely worth going. The fare is heavy traditional (your grandfather's) breakfast and lunch. The place is real cozy and not loud..The toilets are very clean but I think it's the smallest iv'e been in... Ready's was one our OCNJ favorites for years! During business closings due to COVID-19, we decided to get Ready's take out one Sunday morning. While we already knew that the food was delicious and the staff were great, we were really blown away about how sweet the staff continues to be during this difficult time. From my initial phone call to picking up the food, the staff treated me like an old friend- kind, warm, and genuinely excited that I was in their restaurant (which feels like a good friends home). Been hearing good things for a while about this place and finally had the opportunity to try it. This place takes you back a bit when you walk in. The old time cash registers and signs give you an old time feel. Sat at the counter cause there are no tables and the booths are too tight for larger individuals. Service was friendly and efficient. I ordered scrambled eggs with bacon and potatoes and toast. Wife got eggs and sausage patties. We split French toast and in the interest of due diligence ordered a side of hot sausage as well. Egg dishes were good as was rye toast. Menu states that eggs are cooked in butter and all I have to say to that is Thank you. They were good! Sausage patties were good. Bacon was good but a little thin and just a little too crispy for my taste. Wasn't really a fan of the taste of the hot sausage. Not a deal breaker. French toast was excellent and syrup was good. I had no clue how far from Ready I was when I entered this establishment. Four friends and I innocently took a seat and prepared to dine. The service was decent and everything was cool until our food came out and Tyler didn't get exactly what he ordered. Instead of the mushroom omelette he received a pube salad. This, folks, is by no means a stretch of reality. THREE pubes. Despite our disgust we kept chillin cuz you know hopefully the person had showered. The real defining moment, however, was when we politely let our waitress know about the array of hairs. Her astute response was, "that normally doesn't happen. Would you like some more coffee?" Guess what? It did happen and I will do my best to deter any soul from going here again UNLESS ... they like to floss after they eat. read more
