We came to Ready's for breakfast and ended up with one of the most authentic American diner experiences on the Jersey Shore. Everything is made-to-order, and you can feel the pride in every bite. The cinnamon buns? Our daughter said they tasted just like the homemade ones from her grandmother, high praise in our family. We're originally from Pennsylvania, so of course we had to try the scrapple. It hit the mark: classic, crispy, and comforting. The pancakes tasted like the real thing, no shortcuts. The western omelette was superb, made with fresh ingredients, and the broccoli and cheese omelette didn't disappoint either. What truly made the morning was Donna. Her service elevated the entire experience. She's the kind of server you remember. Warm, attentive, and the perfect complement to a family-owned establishment that still believes in hospitality. Everyone on staff moved with purpose and kindness, from the hostess to the kitchen crew. The crowd was a lively blend of locals and tourists, with the kind of noise that tells you people are enjoying themselves, laughing, catching up, sipping coffee. The atmosphere felt like stepping into a Norman Rockwell painting but with better eggs. We were with our oldest child visiting from college, and this breakfast became a memory. For Manhattan natives like us, Ready's delivered everything we hope for when visiting the Shore: honest food, community feel, and a standout staff that made us feel like regulars. Verdict: LOVE. Readys Coffe shops is super good! Starting off strong their service is so fast and they always make sure they have everything you need. The whole place itself is really cute and kind of like a little tiny place. They also have outdoor seating which is perfect in the summer.Their food is so fresh and tasty. This is based on one visit for breakfast at 10am on weekday September 2025, not busy. Technically the rating should be like a 3.25 stars, which indicates an average mediocre meal, which it was. 4 stars for service & 2.5 stars for food. My over medium eggs were on the small side and undercooked, my bacon was a overcooked (and I like it crispy) my home fries were lifeless & bland, my toast was barely toasted. I may have caught them on a bad day. It seems like most of the glowing reviews are for the vibe & staff, not the taste of the food. I definitely will give them another chance since the place is so beloved, and will update review accordingly. read more

Ready's tops all of Ocean City, New Jersey, for great cooked-to-order food, delivered to your table by a super friendly and well-oiled team of speedy serving staff. My family loves the old fashioned look and feel, whether sitting at the counter or at a table, the prices are incredibly reasonable for this town, the Reuben sandwich served on locally baked Ginsberg rye ( see pic) is TO DIE FOR, and there is something for everyone on their breakfast menu (see pic). No, those prices aren't from the 1970s- that was from February 2023 LOL! I HIGHLY recommend this lovely little breakfast cafe in OCNJ! We stopped here on a Saturday around noon and managed to get the last table outside. The food was reasonably priced and delicious, but what really made our experience great was our server Jill. She was so kind and helpful. We got the eggs benedict, egg plate, veggie burger, veggie omelette, and fries to share. Everything was delicious and a reasonable portion size. I highly recommend the fries in particular - so crispy and delicious! We also got the grilled cinnamon bun to share and it was insanely good. Ooey gooey buttery deliciousness. Wow!! I thought I was stepping back in time between the decor, friendly service and overall vibe. The food was excellent.

While visiting Ocean City, My husband and I came across this local coffee shop. What a delightful place to dine. The food and the people who work there are amazing! Take a step back in time at this adorable coffee shop down the shore. This retro cafe still has all the markings of its mid-century vibe with a coffee shop counter, wooden walls, mid-century clock and so much more. The food is absolutely delicious and homemade. The prices cannot be beat. We had three breakfast bc dishes, two coffees and a side of sunny side up eggs for $33! The staff couldn't be friendlier and more welcoming. The food is excellent. Standard short order fare. Fries are so good. The service is great - attentive and caring. When you walk in, it looks like 1962 still with knotty paneling and dark green booths. Don't be put off by appearances. Totally worthwhile breakfast or lunch stop. read more

Stumbled upon this place this morning and I'm so glad I did! It's a small diner and coffee shop. It's not fancy/no frills but it was a great experience. We waited 20 minutes for a table on a Sunday morning. Once seated we were warmly greeted by our server Donna. The coffee was good and my mug was never empty. My meal was on point: delicious, fluffy blueberry pancakes, crispy bacon. My friends enjoyed their meal too. Everything came out hot and prepared exactly the way we ordered it. I had a great meal and really appreciated the friendliness of the staff. I would definitely come back next time I'm in OC. read more

Open during corona virus! They are offering takeout during this time. We called ahead so we didn't have to wait once we got there. We got bacon egg and cheese on everything bagels and they were delicious. They also have to go coffee which was nice. The food was hot and fresh. food was decent, service was terrible, and I'm a waitress and rarely complain about service. it was cash only but this was the disclosed to me until after I got my food, so I had to send someone back to the hotel to get cash. order was slightly wrong but I didn't say anything. older waitress with grey headband gave me a huge attitude for politely asking a simple question about the check, then proceeded to call me "weird" within earshot of me to someone else. rest of the staff was nice, but this lady was exceptionally rude. I've been coming to OCNJ for 47 years and JUST found out about Ready's. Wow, we've really stayed in our bubble too long! It took biking from 57th street with my 13 year old son to stumble upon this gem the week of September 20, 2021! I say 'the week of' because we found it on day one and ate there every morning thereafter!! We were both hungry and most places were closed. A local noticed our annoyance...and hunger...and pointed out Ready's. We made a beeline for the place, right behind the local! She was headed there too! We could not have been more pleased with our food, the atmosphere, the waitresses...everything about this place feels like good!! We sat inside on day one and outside every other day. Their menu is pretty diverse with great options! Over several days we had omelets, potatoes, bacon, scrapple, ham, chocolate chip pancakes and peanut butter pancakes, stuffed french toast (recommended by the waitress and it was awesome!), the coffee is wonderful and their sweet raspberry tea is my son's favorite now! The waitress even sent us home with a travel cup of coffee and TWO raspberry teas! If she's reading this...we DID make it to Johnsons for the overflow bucket before we headed out of town. Can't be sure but this could have been the very first breakfast place I had ever been to.. 32 years ago. It's authentic. You really don't see any places like this anymore. And I know that sounds cliche but you really don't. It's a little small to be a diner. Its a little too robust to be a cafe. I know they call it a coffee shop but that name is a little decieving. I'd call it an old school Breakfast & Luncheonette. You'll see when you get there. Completely worth going. The fare is heavy traditional (your grandfather's) breakfast and lunch. It's the kind of place you roll into when you're half asleep. You'll leave full and caffeinated and ready for your day! read more

Came here for breakfast and lunch on Sunday 1/27/19 and I do say this has to be one of the best luncheonettes iv'e been in New jersey.....The service is great and friendly....the food is excellent along with the portions. The place is real cozy and not loud..The toilets are very clean but I think it's the smallest iv'e been in... I have been here many times before and it's always been good but just never had time to put in a review.....If your'e in O.C. then I suggest to check this one out !! read more

Stepping back into the golden age of diners the four of us enjoy great breakfast fare. Home fried potatoes, eggs Benedict and coffee among the best we've had this past week of travel. The corned beef hash IS THE BEST I've ever had: 49% phenomenal home fries, 49% chopped deli corned beef (superb in its own right) & 2% peppers, spices, etc. Loved walking to the boardwalk and along the ocean afterwards. read more

Ready's was one our OCNJ favorites for years! During business closings due to COVID-19, we decided to get Ready's take out one Sunday morning. While we already knew that the food was delicious and the staff were great, we were really blown away about how sweet the staff continues to be during this difficult time. From my initial phone call to picking up the food, the staff treated me like an old friend- kind, warm, and genuinely excited that I was in their restaurant (which feels like a good friends home). Once home, we ate the food and enjoyed every bite! It was as great as ever. And the kindness and warmth of the staff made my day! Definitely order take out now and gift cards for later. The food was good if a little bland and the service was fast. I have trust issues with any place that butters my toast for me. Hey, I love butter, okay? It would have been nice if the waitress stopped back to ask if everything was okay or even to offer a refill on our coffees. I understand turn over but the place wasn't that busy. Been hearing good things for a while about this place and finally had the opportunity to try it. This place takes you back a bit when you walk in. The old time cash registers and signs give you an old time feel. Sat at the counter cause there are no tables and the booths are too tight for larger individuals. Service was friendly and efficient. I ordered scrambled eggs with bacon and potatoes and toast. Wife got eggs and sausage patties. We split French toast and in the interest of due diligence ordered a side of hot sausage as well. Egg dishes were good as was rye toast. Menu states that eggs are cooked in butter and all I have to say to that is Thank you. They were good! Sausage patties were good. Bacon was good but a little thin and just a little too crispy for my taste. Wasn't really a fan of the taste of the hot sausage. Not a deal breaker. French toast was excellent and syrup was good. I love the "Twin Peaks" reference in an earlier post, and its pretty accurate. The food is good, the service/servers are very nice and very slow(especially when busy), sit at the counter for quicker service. Definitely better than the Chatterbox, that place is just for drunks after midnight...trust me I was one for years. You need to be hammered to like the food at the Chatterbox. Readys is open all year because its good and the locals like it when it's not busy. Definitely not the best option in my eyes for breakfast on the island though. read more
