Came here first coffee and left amused. This place is full of whimsy! I loved that no space was left filled. Everywhere you looked, there was something to smile or laugh at. Such a vibe! I can only imagine how cozy this shop feels when there's snow outside. My partner and I found this shop as we were leaving Girdwood one afternoon. It was a pleasant stop to get caffeinated and head back on the road to Anchorage. Definitely would come back and hope we get to on our next visit to Anchorage. read more

So we were in a glacier tour and our driver Chad told us the best coffee in all Alaska was "The Grind" so my friends and I had to give it a try. We stopped by on our way to Kenai Fjord and it was good but not the best coffee in Alaska. I had better by Denali National Park ‍ I had an iced doppio with a splash of almond milk. Decent. If you're into vintage; the coffee establishment sells a bunch of items. Also this is for the owner. The Grind - It's COLOMBIAN not COLUMBIAN - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Girdwood, Alaska

Google Maps and fate led us to the Grind. My husband and I were headed up to Wasilla from Seward and decided to make a pit stop in Girdwood. I typed "coffee" into Google Maps and The Grind was the first place listed. We pulled up and didn't expect much to be honest. Once inside, we ordered two coffees and proceeded to have one of the most genuine and refreshing interactions with the owner Gator and barista Jeff. The coffee was delicious and the good company was even better. We could have hung out there all day. Now that I've read other Yelp reviews, I'm glad to see that we are not alone in our positive experience. I hope this business thrives indefinitely. read more

Great coffee, good muffin, comfy couch and hilarious things for sale. They have oat milk!

Great little spot!! Lots of coffee and ambience was homey and comfortable! Check it out Jeff can brew some coffee!!

Don't be fooled by the outside, this is a great little place. Good food and drinks, amazing service, and fun gifts.

This was a really chill place to grab a coffee and a waffle. The flavor of the waffle was appropriately sweet and the texture far exceeds that of your standard Belgian waffle. There were also fun gifts available for purchase. I also appreciated the 8AM opening time and how that was honored by the proprietor. read more

This is a coffee shop, through and through. Good coffee with limited snacks, some seating, and quirky gifts. If I need to have breakfast in Girdwood, I'll get coffee from the grind and then go across the street to pick up breakfast at the Hightower. Delicious coffee, I got an iced vanilla latte with added English toffee syrup and I drank it so fast that I couldn't get a picture! Hit the spot for sure. There is also some fun books, games, trinkets, etc on the wall while you wait in line if there is one. We didn't get any food but there were some waffles that looked really good that other people were eating. Service was slower but that was mainly because it was bussssyyyyy during Girdwood days. Ambiance was a laid back hangout read more

Closes at 5pm. I had matcha with almond milk and it was really tasty. We did see it was open until 7pm but the signs say they changed their hours. So this is a heads up. read more

After working out early in the Alyeska gym and pool we were looking for a local restaurant for breakfast. Finding one on a Wednesday proved a challenge his mid winter day. Fortunately, The Grind was open The Grind proved to be a warm, laidback, friendly local roaster/coffee shop that, fortunately, open at 7am every morning. They sever a varied of tasty waffles and have bagels & muffins you can toast up. Their coffee is excellent. read more

I forget what they call it (shot in the dark? Sludge cup?), but I got a shot of espresso in drip coffee. I asked for them to add oat milk and did not add sugar. Best coffee of my life, hands down! If I'm ever back in the area, i will be back. read more

Funky little coffee shop that takes me back to my college days. Their lattes are PERFECT. A 16 oz latte and a 16 oz sludge set us back 7.50. Not bad for great coffee and a town notorious for high prices. Extra cool? Table top arcade games from the 80's and a dashboard Jesus. read more

I strolled down here for a leisurely late morning, midsummer coffee. Upon entering, you know you're in for a treat. The walls are decorated with pop culture art on canvases with abstract landscapes thrown in. There's a Periodic Table of Elements throw on the nearby couch, jar candles to pop culture icons, Narwhal-horn shaped mints, and a whole collection of memes sandwiched under the glass on the counter. My favorite part of this cafe is simply that its not a vessel just for tourism as much of Girdwood has become. Having stayed there a little over an hour, it seems more of a mixture between locals and travelers alike. The barista was absolutely the best. I typically don't have coffee drinks with whipped cream, but I have to say their mocha is really fantastic with some. Considering they have an in-house coffee grinder you can see from the front window, I trust this location knows its beans. The location is a welcome reprieve from more touristy areas, and even those who enter seem to adopt a different countenance upon walking in. Kind, no-nonsense, efficient service with delicious coffee. Waffles seem a particular specialty, but I'll have to save that bite for next time. read more

Totally worth the 5-minute detour off the road to AWCC. I had a delicious mocha and my wife had an excellent Irish cream cappuccino. They roast their coffee beans daily, and also have a lot of quirky knickknacks to browse and buy. 10/10. read more

This place was recommended while we were on vacation. The shop is very cool/weird and definitely worth the trip. Went in off season so town was pretty much empty but views of the area are awesome. This is a treasure in such a small town. We visited while Covid precautions are still in place, and it was perfect. We ordered outside and had a lovely covered table to sit at. The coffee was amazing- they had all different options as well as milk alternatives (soy, coconut, almond, oat, etc) which was a huge win. They also had great waffles (even gluten free options). Lastly, the service from the staff was amazing. So nice. Highly recommend making this a stop! read more

Place is dirty, in a trailer park... I was surprised when the trailer park seemed more delightful than the inside of this business. The bagel was not cooked you have to cook it yourself I guess ? The guy taking my order said that he missed working at Starbucks and he wishes his place could be more like them. The coffee was good though, as I would expect from a barista. Probably will buy a keurig and travel with it from now on. Save myself the 17 bucks and the misery of being man-splaned what my drink is actually made of. read more

Stopped in for an unplanned visit as we were passing time while waiting for a table to open up for dinner at a nearby restaurant. Tristan gave us the best service and accommodations for our waiting period.
