Their food is great - one of my favorite lunch spots in the area. Usually get either the Alpha meal or bulgogi bento and both are fantastic. B7t HOLY JESUS they are SLOW. Even when they're dead, expect to wait 20-30 minutes minimum for your food to come out. I want to give them a higher eating but you can't be a lunch place and take over 30 min for food to come out. read more

I just left the grillery. Waited over 30 minutes for seared ahi tuna and Grilled Chicken to come out. 5 minutes after we placed our order a group of six people came in each one ordering something and all of them got their food before us, and no they did not order salad. When I asked about how long it would be, I was told that maybe another 10 minutes and that they never tell the girl at the front how long it's going to be. They said that the tacos take the longest to cook, you seriously expect me to believe that seared tuna takes 40 minutes to cook?! I was then told that there were several tickets ahead of us, there was absolutely nobody ahead of us, it was all people who came in after us. So explain that to me, I'll wait.... And just so you all know, the girl behind the counter agreed with me that it's messed up and it took that long for our food that didn't come out and the people who came in after us got their food before us. read more

They can't keep a cashier long. Register goes down frequently, so I guess they can't afford better software. There is some seating, but not a ton. Long wait times for decent food, but they run out of a lot of things pretty frequently. There are better places open for lunch. read more

Been here a few times. Food has been on point each time. I've had the Banh Mi sandwich and the chimichurri sandwich. I like that you can get items that are a little different. It's not an extensive menu but they do their items well. Took away 1 star because the banh mi isn't always available if they are busy, it is warm inside the restaurant- not sure they have a/c and the bathroom was out of TP. Otherwise I liked it and think it's a winner for the Scripps Poway area. read more

I love The Grillery. I've eaten here a handful of times, and it's always on point in flavor and quality. My go-to is the Alpha Meal Salad or Steve's Steak Sandwich because my god that chimichurri sauce is next level. I've also enjoyed the chicken bowl and bento which tastes delicious fresh off the grill. The items are a little pricier than my normal lunches which is why I don't go too often. General fare is going to cost around $10-$12, but that beats every other health conscious eatery like Tender Greens or Urban Plates. The best part about The Grillery is that it's a small local shop with a great set of hands on deck. That means I'm eating healthy while supporting a friendly small business. I don't write a lot of reviews, but these guys deserve one. I just stopped by for lunch on a work day. Honestly I didn't expect anything amazing, but the food was very well done. I got a grilled chicken teriyaki bowl. The teriyaki comes on the side, which is nice - I don't always like food soaked in it. The grilled chicken was fantastic, with a thin crunchy layer, tender middle, and just some salt to carry the grilled flavor. The rice in the bowl was sticky just the way I like it, and the grilled veggies were simple with just some salt and charcoal flavor (how they should be). The squash was nice too. Plus, the price was totally reasonable. I'll be returning here and will update the review if I have a different experience, but my co-workers all loved what they ordered too. read more

Came here for lunch today as I am always looking for new family owned restaurants to try out especially in this area. I ordered the BBQ pork Banh Mi, Mekishiko Tapas,hot wings and fries. Don't judge me! My first time at new places I always order too much but I want to try as much as I can. Anyhow the pork in the bahn mi is absolutely delish. Crispy pork fat and tender meat mixed in with the sour carrots and herbs made it hard not to eat the entire thing. The bread is perfectly crispy on the outside and very tender on the inside. You do have the option for a fried egg on top and I will probably do that next time. The tapa was a few slices of seared Ahi, with cabbage, onions, radish sprouts, jalapeno aioli, and a hint of wasabi just to let you know its there. It was good but I probably wouldn't order it again. The fries are skinny fries and good in their own right. The was a little problem with my wings and when I brought it up to the owner he wanted to replace the order and refund ALL of my money! I would not allow that and he offered to purchase me a bento box next time I come in. Its nice to see an owner so passionate about his food. They have some other interesting options that I will definitely be back to try. read more

Visited this place for the first time. I ordered the grilled salmon bento and the Vietnamese iced coffee. The food pretty much blew my expectations out of the water. Everything about the meal was extremely delicious: the salmon, the veggies, the rice, the potstickers, the salad, the sauce, and the dressing. The iced coffee was pretty good, although it could be too strong for many people I'd imagine. The food definitely left me wanting to go back again, and I will soon enough. Service was exceptional, granted I walked in within the first 10 minutes of the place opening so the place was empty and service was quick. I was happy to have a chance to try The Grillery. They've only been open a week or so, and the food was delicious. I got the Steve's Steak sandwich. What flavor! The meat was very tender and the flavor was definitely Vietnamese inspired. You gotta love a place that has Sriracha packets for table out orders. HINT: add Sriracha to your Steve Steak. Another coworker always ops for the salmon, that also looks amazing. They do take a little long to bring out the food, but we confirm its worth it! So close to perfect!!! Ok, so this place seems like they are still getting settled in, noticeably when you see the always empty display case at the counter, but certainly not too shabby, nor too far from perfect! Hopefully any of our -5 star reviews are seen as instructions to improve, because I'd like to make this place my favorite, and give them the 5 stars all restaurants should strive for! The downs: 1. Either fill the to-go containers up, or use smaller ones! When it comes to reviews, nothing looks as disappointing as a partially filled to-go order box. Now this comes with exceptions when talking about certain meals, but honestly, how much does it cost you to throw a box-topping amount of greens into my salad? I mean, a partial pinch more of romaine leaves equals pennies, and we're good! (This complaint includes far too small portions of fries with meals) 2. Get Call-Waiting! This one is much less concerning, but it would be nice if they got a better phone system, I think they are going old skool with not having call-waiting. It sucks to have to call a place 5-10 times to get thru to someone! The ups: 1. Great food! So far, every meal here has tasted great, honestly can't complain there! Healthy options, eco-friendly cardboard to-go boxes, keep it up! 2. Great staff! Always polite and patient, which is essential when needing to get a meal with a 30min time-limit for a lunch break. 3. Reasonable prices! Normally prices are obviously too high, but adding to the "Great Food" comment, it's well worth it as far as quality goes! Not too much, and they should still be making money! Neither good nor bad: 1. Add some beverages! So just a simple suggestion, holding no negative or positive judgment, considering all the healthy food options, maybe it wouldn't hurt to try experimenting with selling some healthy-style drinks to the menu! Many people seem to be moving away from the basic crappy pepsi and cokes, and they don't really compliment a meal of quality flavors too well. Wow! We just discovered this place in the Poway Business Park. The food tastes VERY good and is fresh and healthy. We asked the clerk if the salmon is fresh and she told us she sees it coming in looking like a fish every morning and goes out looking like fillets at lunch. Can't get much fresher than that. The steak salad is tender, cooked to order and comes with a killer sauce with a good spicy kick. We plan to make this place a regular stop. read more

I work nearby and my co-workers were raving about this place so I thought I'd take a few friends and try this place out. We thought we would be smart and go early to beat the lunch crowd (around 11:30 am). Hardly anyone was there when we arrived so we figured we could dine-in and still make it back to work on time. The cashier was friendly and helpful when selecting our meals. Seemed promising. So far so good, right? However, while we waited for our food I went to use their restroom only to find that the lights wouldn't turn on. I poked at and flipped the switch but with no luck. How could anyone use the restroom in pitch black? I decided nature had to wait and walked back to try and tell the cashier but she was busy taking orders, so I shrugged it off and went to our table. The minutes went by. People who called ahead and pre-ordered their food walked in and still had to wait for their orders as well. I know they pride themselves with the "made to order" idea, which is terrific, but they really need to find away of getting these orders out much quicker, especially since they are situated around businesses. Their customers are people like us who have a short window for lunch. A good 35-40 minutes rolled by until we finally got our food and by then, we couldn't even eat it there and had to take it back to work with us. One of my 2 friends and I had the grilled Salmon which accompanied a side of teriyaki sauce served on a bed of white rice, veggies, salad w/ a ginger dressing & 2 fried pot stickers. It was cooked perfectly and quite delicious. 2 thumbs up for the grilled salmon bento. My other friend had the tuna salad which was a seared ahi tuna with mixed greens and served with your choice of a ginger or house miso dressing. She said the salad was tasty and the tuna was also cooked well. Another thumb up for that. All in all, the food is great, we would buy from there again. They just get minus 2 stars for the long wait and lightless restroom unfortunately. My suggestion, call ahead and tack on an extra few minutes before you actually pick it up. Also, use the restroom before you get there, unless you have a flashlight, a candle or a match/lighter you can use! read more

Good food. good price. Takes a while to get your order (but its fresh!!) GREAT SERVICE! I've had the Steve Sandwich, mekishiko tapas, esteban tapas and the bulgogi beef bowl. The service and food here are always very good. If you're in a rush I recommend ordering ahead. My only complaint is that EVERYTHING I've had there so far , whether its dine-in or take-out comes in the same brown box (even the "bowl"). It makes eating a bit tricky and annoying, the flaps are always in your way. The bowl was really hard to eat out of the box luckily I had some scissors to cut off two flaps making access easier. Also when you get take out the boxes fit into the paper bag sideways so that's how you have to carry it and set it down. I naturally set the bag right side up (how it should go) which sent my tacos for a tumble. My fault I guess? this could just be my bad luck as I don't see the box in all the yelp photos. Man where do I even start? The customer service was impeccable when I walked in as well as the cleanliness and the cool environment. As I was sitting there waiting for my food I see people keep coming and as the employees there greet customers by their first name that's when you know the spot is legit. I decided to get the tai tea that they have there, as I also ordered the steak sandwich. Since I'm at work I had to get it to go as I was driving back I couldn't wait to try the sandwich, as I open the box up I could just smell the delicious steak in my sandwich and I took the first bite I must say this is one of the best steak sandwiches I've ever had. I will definitely be going back to try other stuff on the menu but I can for sure say that I will be in for this sandwich again. read more
