My first course a Caesar salad had some brown romaine, so I returned it though it had great flavors, but wasn't wanting to wait for a new fresh one to be made, so they took it off the bill and insisted on an immediate complimentary beet salad replacement which I took them up on. The beets and cheese part was awesome. I didn't mention it to them, but I used to be an executive chef of high end white table cloth restaurants years ago all over the SE including New Orleans, Atlanta, Tampa, so I was very impressed with their wanting to make us all extremely happy and make up for the salad mistake. The flavors in the Tuna Tare Tare, Shrimp Ceviche was incredible, and my Lamb Shank had some of the best spices I have ever tasted in a shank. Then the owner insisted on a comp baklava dessert for our mother's birthday and it was a very unique original flambe' presentation. Most of the places I was a chef at, the servers had to do old school tableside caesar with the egg yolk, dinner like Steak Diane, dessert and flambe' drinks and I realized how rare that this is these days. Many restaurants could learn from Amber Cove, as they turned a somewhat little disappointing salad start to a great evening with class.

The entire place was buzzing with energy from the well heeled crowd. There's a large formal dining area but the separate bar area also has ample seating, TVs, and a nightly jazz band. The bartenders were very attentive and friendly, helped explain the menu items, and checked in regularly to see if we needed anything. We ordered the crispy rice with tuna, which came with whole slices of ahi tuna vs the usual tuna tartar. It was tasty, came with 4 pieces, and was just big enough for 2 people to share. For the main course we had the Parmesan crusted sole and the crab fried rice. The sole was quite heavily breaded with the Parmesan mixture but not overly oily. The sole was mild so even a non fish lover could enjoy it. The fried rice had a decent portion of lump crab on top, but the fried rice itself was ordinary. We're looking forward to returning and trying more of the menu items. Eddie V's is definitely going to be a big hit in Naples, so best to reserve well in advance, even in the off season.

We ordered 2 orders of the lobster roll, 2 orders of the mini filet sandwiches, lollipop lamb chops, and wagyu dumplings for a table of 4. The lobster roll special was prepared nicely but just didn't have enough lobster. Both of the mini fillet sliders were overcooked (we asked for medium and medium rare) and were served medium well. The Lollipop lamb was very good and the portion size was good. The Wagyu dumplings were just ok. Since we loved the Eddie Vs in Chicago, we are probably going to give this restaurant another chance. Maybe it was just growing pains since they just opened last month. The atmosphere at the bar, especially with music, provides for a wonderful date place.

I've never had Oscar before but wanted to try it so I have no idea if it typically smells the way it did but I can't even describe how nasty it smelled. I literally wanted to gag. Unfortunately, it was on my steak and all in the sauce, so my steak now tasted like it. The steak itself also lacked flavor and had no seasoning whatsoever. It was thick and chewy which I've never experienced with a filet mignon. I attempted to eat what I could of it but thankfully, I had the extra asparagus to eat to fill me up. I didn't try the fish and chips that my daughter had but it looked ok. I was expecting it to be cod or haddock, but pretty sure it was grouper so be mindful of that when ordering fish and chips. I will say, I did not mention or complain about any of this to our waiter because I didn't want to make a scene but I should have. Our $170 dinner was probably worth about $30 (mostly from the asparagus). I really hate that because it was such a pretty restaurant but I will not ever be back or recommend to anyone I know. It instantly became "our spot" and we've been coming back together, and introducing our other loved ones to this spot ever since! I was hesitant about the groups because of the risotto, but it made the dish come together in truly the best way possible. I will be ordering it from here on out!
