This was my first time at The Gregory. Some coworkers and I decided to try some place new for brunch. Great atmosphere. Our server Olivia was amazing. Very attentive and so sweet. The food was good. I had the omelette with seasoned potatoes. The chicken and waffles with pepper jelly was different but tasty. My coworkers said the burgers were the best. We will definitely come back. read more

The Gregory is quite literally one of the finest dining experiences I've had in a while. I was in Baton Rouge on business, so while I've only been to The Gregory once, I'll certainly be back! Cheletta (maître d') is about as awesome as a human being can be - a trove of warmth, insight and candid appreciation for everything served - and the food is nothing short of mind-blowing. We started with Brussels sprouts and a wedge salad, had duck as the main course, and finished with bread pudding and vanilla ice cream. The overall experience was so good that I felt compelled to personally thank the sous chef after the rush cooled down, and even hugged Cheletta. Yes. THAT good. read more

We chose this restaurant because it was our team dinner night. I absolutely loved the ambiance, and my server was very accommodating. I first ordered the sensation salad, which was FANTASTIC I literally cleaned the plate. I also tried one of my coworkers oysters and it was cooked to perfection. My issue with the restaurant was that my duck breast was burnt, and three of my coworkers burgers were burnt as well. I told the manager about the situation, and he gave us free desert. I appreciated the offer; I told the one of the host about my food they informed me that another table had the same problem. It seems as if the problem did not get rectified. You can't promote yourself as a premier restaurant if you can't execute to superior results. I will be back and hopefully the food will be up to par. read more

Great place and great service. Flawless. Special thanks to David Johnson the GM of the hotel for recommending.

Spent the night at the Watermark and had dinner at the bar. Safe was lovely and the gumbo was great! Definitely recommend.

Perfect dinner spot! All of the staff were professional, welcoming, and courteous from the hostess to our waiter. Food was phenomenal, the interactive menus on iPads made it easy to see what your dish looked like before ordering and even had recommended wine pairings with your entree! Would definitely come back here either for dinner or drinks at the stylish bar. read more

We went for brunch and tasted pretty much everything on the menu I had the Forever Green (pictured), it was great! My son had the Fire Deck pizza (pictured), it was great! My daughter had the Hangover, it's veryyy thick bread but she liked it. My dad got the frittata but he thought it was over cooked. My mom got the BAT Flat and enjoyed it. We started with the fritas, which are basically beignets and they were great! The atmosphere is nice, the service was ok. Overall I'd say it's a good place to eat read more

Took my girlfriend here on a date, beautiful ambiance. The Gregory is located right downtown Baton Rouge, close to everything. We parked in a parking garage close by because there was an event going on at the same time. The restaurant is on the first floor of a hotel and I would definitely describe it as a "fine dining experience". I would highly recommend the frog legs and the crawfish flatbread. Most of the crowd that was their was either young professionals and couples--no kids. Everyone was very social and I attribute that to the act that to the well stocked bar and professional bartenders. My girlfriend and I were in and out quickly. I would not recommend for families or if your on a tight budget. Otherwise, this is definitely an experience you have to enjoy to get the real taste of downtown Baton Rouge! read more

First time at the Gregory! The Forever Green was absolutely fabulous. My girlfriend ordered gumbo for us to share. Neither of us really cared for it but it wasn't the absolute worst thing we've ever eaten. She had the BAT which we both liked a lot. We also shared the chopped salad. I don't think I've ever had a salad so fresh in a restaurant. The dressing was just the right amount. My only complaint would have to be the gumbo. The decor is absolutely gorgeous. Never thought I could be amazed by a bathroom but it was stunning. I would definitely like to go back one day. read more

After a long day of travel we landed at our hotel tired and hungry. It was dark so we didn't want to have to find a place so we walked downstairs of the hotel. So glad we did! Ryan was our waiter and he was perfect. He was friendly and knowledgeable and stepped up to our WI Old Fashion challenge. The food was plentiful and the desserts were not too big but rich and satisfying. We tried the chopped salad, crab cake, and the pasta with chicken. Along with the bread pudding, cake, and cheesecake. Everyone was happy with their choices. read more

This was the best dinner I had that didn't include an entree. Their gumbo is very good. The sausage was like a meatball, so you could crush it up and have a little with every bite. Awesome! We had a half dozen oysters too. Served with three sauces, they were all tasty. I couldn't believe I was full then. The rest of the menu looked good, but we decided to not punish ourselves. Until the waiter mentioned a praline cheesecake. Our faces melted. read more

Beautiful Decor, fast service and lovely meal. I highly recommend the express lunch. Great value, quickly served, and delicious. Best $14 lunch I have had in months! A great addition to downtown Baton Rouge. read more

I was so happy at this restaurant! We had been displaced by Hurricane Zeta, so we had no plans or reservations! I had the best soup I've ever eaten! It was a tomato andouille bisque! So good! I came here for my birthday dinner and our server was the best! He was super sweet and funny. I'm definitely coming back !!

Nice upscale place with tasteful design and polite employees. Flat bread app was tasty and well prepared. The chargrilled oyster were also tasty, but minuscule. I'm taking smaller than tinned smoked ones. I don't necessarily need monster-sized, but I would not serve the dish if the oysters were this underdeveloped. That being said I will return for the nice staff and good cocktails. read more

We made reservations through open table for 7pm. Nobody let us know the restaurant was closed for the night, very disappointing since we're staying at the hotel. We went down to Stroubes instead and had a wonderful meal. read more

I like to come here to feel fancy. The lobby of the Watermark Hotel serves as the dining room for The Gregory as well. Located in an historic Louisiana building, the décor and accoutrements are opulent and comfortable. All the menus are presented on interactive touchscreen tablets that allow you to scroll through pages and touch on individual items to see a picture and read a description of the item. This may be old hat in major metropolitan cities, but a first (that I know of) in Baton Rouge. As you're escorted to the table you can watch 2 or 3 chefs quietly but busily working in the open kitchen. While perusing the aforementioned tablet, the server provides ice cold water from a large jug. Sipping your water, you will notice that the tables, silver, cloth napkins and chairs are all quite elegant. I've come on lunch for several occasions. First timer, Date with a radiant woman and a going away lunch for a co-worker. On two occasions I had what they call the Express Lunch and the other I partook in the burger. I must preface this by saying: there is nothing express about this restaurant. Be prepared to relax and take your time. The service, while helpful and polite, is dreadfully slow. The food delivery time is quite a bit longer than expected, but this can be attributed to the small number of kitchen staff, and even waiting for your check (which is delivered in an old book that encourages your comments to be submitted on the inside cover) seems to be coming from out of state. That being said, the food is worth it (if you have time). The Express Lunch is a wonderful concept that has been presented excellently on both occasions that I've tried it. It consists of a main course, salad, soup and dessert, all for $15. It also comes with house made chips and a dressing to dip. My first experience was blackened redfish, quinoa salad, crab and corn bisque, bread pudding and corn fritters. Everything was prepared expertly and was delicious. My second Express Lunch consisted of pork tenderloin over hash browned potato, spinach salad, sausage gumbo and tiramisu. Once again, I was very pleased with this dish, however the tenderloin wasn't extremely tender but I could overlook this seeing as they were putting out hundreds of plates this day and it can't be perfect every time. The burger was overcooked and charred on the outside. This was surprising considering how long we waited for it to be prepared. My ravishing date had a crawfish flatbread pizza that was tasty but a bit...crawfishy. I will try the burger again someday, just in case they were having a bad day. Overall, I recommend The Gregory for lunch any day that you are not in a hurry. The lunch prices are very reasonable and the building and dining room are stunning. Don't forget to check out the restrooms. They're (in the words of our server) magical. read more

Great atmosphere and luxurious feel. The food was all around disappointing. I got the gumbo and a sensation salad. The gumbo tasted burnt and the rice in it was crispy like it was dried out. The salad was good. My husband got the shrimp carbonara. It didn't resemble any carbonara I've had. The sauce was very runny. read more

We have been in Baton Rouge just over a year and have tried to eat at locally owned restaurants. We ate at The Gregory tonight, and not only was the food amazing, but the hostess, Cheletta, was the most hospital and friendly person I've ever encountered in a restaurant. The food was excellent! Pork and oysters were incredible, and the smoky tomato Basil soup was divine! My husband had the shrimp tortellini, and he said it was delicious. We will be back! Food was excellent and the hostess was superb! We need more Chelettas in our lives! read more

I visited The Gregory for lunch today. I chose the Express Lunch Special and it included; gumbo, ceasar salad, red fish, lemon icebox pie and a sampling of their house potato chips. Everything came all at once on one tray. The best way to describe it is an "upscale school lunch" It was delicious. If I had one critique, it would be the service. I received my food fairly quickly but a guest next to me was there over an hour and never got his order. Also, on the website it stated that a non-alcoholic beverage was included with the Express Lunch but I was charged for my tea separately. I would definitely visit this restaurant again for lunch, a girls night or date night with my husband. read more

OMG!!! This place is amazing! The oysters are HUGE! My father always wants to come here when he is in town because his is just obsessed with oysters. The soups are so stinkin' yummy that I just want to lick the bowl. The alcoholic beverage options are very nice, and the bartender can make practically anything your heart desires. The dessert though... that's where The Gregory makes itself one of the best restaurants in Baton Rouge. The cheesecake and bread pudding is taken to a whole other level. My mouth is watering just thinking of it. Now go try it and you can thank me later. read more

Yum! Clean, new, nice staff and delicious food. Never had frog legs before so ordered that right up. They came out and we're devoured within 5 minutes. I wasn't too stoked with the sauce they provided for dipping, luckily they were well seasoned and didn't need to much extra. Can't comment on whether this would be a nice sit down place, but the apps and salads are well worth the visit. read more

Mother's Day brunch buffet Obvious not their normal day Buffett was not advertised on web when I made reservation as I generally avoid buffets.. so should they Wobbly table might as well have been at Waffle House Took a while to resolve after I had to make several notifications to get addressed finally got what appeared to be the manager to assist and ended up at another table It happens so on with brunch For a while not sure who was our server Luckily the first one, that flat out ignored my bringing up the wobble did not end up continuing as she was cold as ice slow as Christmas lazy as a mule and personality of a cypress stump Suggest cosmetology or McDonald's because you r not cut out to be in a top grade restaurant Kind of sad watching her avoid and ignore other patrons Young lady and one of the gentlemen gave some effort to provide service thanks the young lady really tried but had a large group at the same time At least she smiled and tried Young man did step in and help A recommendation if I order coffee bring me another spoon so I don't have to stir coffee with the one I am eating gumbo A couple of items on Buffett were cold ..not warm but cold Gumbo and French toast are meant to be hot To their credit they did bring me some fresh and the gumbo was excellent The jazz trio were excellent Hostess did not say happy Mother's Day or good morning or any other friendly greeting Neither did waitress number one Some of the food was excellent.. salads beef omelette yogurt station fruit all top notch Some not shrimp and grits salty cold gumbo cold French toast cold dry sausage cold crawfish Mac and cheese werevhorrible This is a wonderful space the music was excellent And likely great potential for food Servers need some training Will try once more with regular menu read more

Good dinner. Raw oysters, salad, and bone in filet, all prepared well. Relatively new place and it shows at times. Waitstaff has good intentions but lacks some training. Very little anticipation and a lack of timing throughout dinner. Give it time. Above was first visit. Second back was tonight, they are still trying to figure it out. Let me walk out because they couldn't seat me. Stoubes, half block down is a good alternative if the hostess tells you "no" at 6:30pm and the tables are maybe 5% occupied. read more

The moment you walk into the Watermark Hotel, you see the elegance of The Gregory restaurant and bar. This place is exquisite! Everything from the wine room to the open kitchen, you just can't help but fall in love with it over and over again. I am kind of obsessed with ambiance and that element here is just breathtaking. I could sit in their bar lounge, drink a banana Manhattan and snack on their savory bites probably all day. That feeling of "come, stay and relax" just fills the air, whenever I am there. I have had many of their small bites, some are better than others, but I am just so fixated on relaxing that I don't care to judge how much I love a dish over another. The service has always been attentive, fast and just plain nice. I don't think I have ever encountered a server, bartender or hostess that I was not pleased with. If you have not been here yet, you're going to love it. So, please don't miss out on this epic downtown restaurant masterpiece. Make sure to walk around the hotel a bit to explore. There are just so many aesthetic elements that will make you swoon and keep coming back. read more

Harvest veggies and bread pudding was great. Duck was okay. The shrimp carbonara not so great. Shrimp way rubbery, peas did not seem fresh and lacked sauce. We ordered room service so maybe it would have been better if we would have dined downstairs. read more

The Gregory offers some of the best below-the-radar vegan fine dining in Baton Rouge. There are almost no vegan options on the menu -- but the key is to CALL AHEAD about a week before you visit, and explain your dietary restriction to the manager, when making the reservation. Ask that the chef prepare something special to accommodate your dietary restriction. When I dined there with a group of meat-eaters, since they were expecting me, they had prepared the best plant-based pasta dish I've ever had in BR *and* a custom vegan dessert board with a gelato and a tartlette. (Maybe also visit on a weeknight when they aren't super busy, if you ask for this -- it takes time and planning on their part, which might not be possible on a super-busy night.) They pulled out all the stops to offer me a superb meal with an interesting, delicious entree and special dessert. If you have a vegan in your party, don't be afraid of the limited menu--just give them a heads-up so that they can plan to make dinner special for everyone in the party, even those with dietary restrictions. I think it's a hallmark of a great chef du cuisine when he or she is willing to go the extra mile to dream up a special meal to accommodate dietary restrictions. Bravo!!! read more

Although we had reservations, we had to wait 30 minutes for a table. Had drinks at the bar; superb bartender. The space is pretty, comfortable, clean, and not loud. The food varied from very good to mediocre to bad. The flatbread was very good. Gumbo came out without the advertised poached again. Sent it back and was given a fresh bowl with a boiled egg and no explanation why. When I commented to the (overworked) waiter that the egg was boiled and not poached, she said "oh, really?" -- and I've no clue if she was merely uninformed or being cute. In any event, the gumbo was not good (the roux flavor had not been cooked out) and went uneaten. The shrimp and grits combo was horrible; the sauce tasted like poor quality balsamic vinegar and the shrimp were meager and undercooked. One companion described the chicken and waffles as "nothing special." Another said the vault burger was wonderful. Overall, an uneven experience. Having dined here before, I know the restaurant can be much better, and I encourage it to try harder. read more

Gregory's have the best fillet fish meal. I love their food.

Breakfast this morning was good - but there was only one waitress, no one to seat you so you stood around and tried to catch someone's eye to get seated at a table.
