Now it only takes a few minutes for egg rolls to cook and they knew before bringing this out that they were burnt
Heather L.

So tonight was girls night and I haven't been here for awhile. Ordered what I though would taste the same but it wasn't. I ordered the southwest egg rolls and they were burnt.

Private event.

The staff was wonderful, the food was terrific, a totally different experience than I had at Azteca's.

Ask the Community - Squeaky Pete's

Is it open? What are the hours?

I believe they are in the process of a soft opening right now, which has them open from 11am-2pm, but no heavy promotion or live music acts and/or DJs. The official opening shouldn't be long

Perfect for a date night or weekend because you can enjoy the delicious craft cocktails and then just walk to your room without having to call Uber. The lemondrop martinis with flavors of strawberry & blueberry were amazing! Perfect taste! Beer was cold! The place is dimly lit which sets a mysterious, sexy vibe! Yes, I recommend this place. Cheers!

Yes, oh yes, Dark 30, yes! A dark bar after my dark little heart. How could I resist stopping in…read morewhen doing a search for cocktails in the area? Impossible. Let's start with ambiance. It's what will lure you in, with a small sidewalk patio that's perfectly inviting (perhaps less so on a 90 degree night) and then you walk in and hit dark nirvana with black walls, stunning patterned accent walls and amber fixtures and lighting. An enormous, really cool chandelier hangs from the very high ceiling. I could probably stay here forever (and I haven't even gotten to the drinks yet). The bartender was really nice, offered us wifi right away so we could use the QR code. I knew I wanted a sparkling rose and she recommended one for me. Then, because my husband asked about mezcal, she made him a cocktail that she's testing out for the menu. On the sweeter side, but delicious and beautifully concocted (I felt fancy as I drank it). Wall art! Oh yes, it's beautiful, too. I particularly admired two huge framed portraits of black cats dressed in finery. Seating is at the large bar or at a number of small cocktail tables lining the wall. What a surprise lurking in sleepy Downtown Baton Rouge. While it's been a while since I've been here, it's in a league of its own in an area that you'll be more likely to find sports bars.

Just one of the reasons I plan to return for lunch. They make a mean martini over here and Danny is crushing it in the kitchen. Everything I've tried has been delicious. The grilled cheese is perfection on sourdough and the tomato soup is a perfectly spicy counterpart to its buttery richness. The daily specials during the week are all hits from the wings, to the burger, to the meatloaf.... While we're talking about that it's served with the best Real life mashed potatoes that I've had in a while. I've also tried their fried chicken caesar salad, a generous portion of salad tossed in good caesar dressing and topped with crispy fried chicken. Pretty darn good. Service is always friendly and attentive and the drinks are just as good as the food. Really solid martinis and the Ashley signature cocktail has become one of my faves. I'll for sure be making this a staple spot for my visits to Baton Rouge

I did have some food as well. The waffle fries were amazing. Light and fluffy with a great flavor. The Boudin egg rolls were delicious. Great flavor not overly fried. I would say this late night dinner was a hit for me. It's a spacious place too. Big enough for any size party and very clean no dingy or anything.

Discover Baton Rouge's Best-Kept Secret: A Hidden Gem Underneath the City…read more Tucked beneath Azteca's Mexican Restaurant and nestled right on the edge of the Mississippi River, this isn't your average dive bar. Since the 1930s, this historic spot has been serving up cheap, strong drinks in a cozy, basement hideaway. It's off the beaten path, and its entrance is a little tricky to find - just the way you want your dive bars to be. Once you do find it, prepare for a throwback to a time when things were simpler: dark hallways lit by a few twinkling Christmas lights, leading you into a dimly lit, welcoming space. The bar is stocked with an impressive selection of scotch, and the staff is as friendly as they come. It's a place where everyone knows your name, and the drinks come strong and cheap. The vibe is laid-back, with darts, a jukebox, and a pool room that's a little too fancy to be considered "divey" -- but hey, that's part of its charm. This is the local hangout, a true haven for Baton Rouge's service industry crowd and anyone who just wants to enjoy a drink in peace, away from the downtown hustle. Oh, and did we mention the drink specials? This place knows how to throw a party: SIN Night on Sundays (yes, it's as fun as it sounds) Ladies Night on Mondays, with FREE drinks for women from 9-11 PM Reverse Happy Hour on Tuesdays, where the drinks get cheaper every hour Bingo Night on Thursdays And, if you're out late, they're the only bar open after 2 AM on Fridays and Saturdays! Now, technically, it's a speakeasy post-Covid, but getting in is easy: just scan the QR code on the door, and they'll email you a code to enter. Once you're in, it's like you've entered your own secret spot, away from the crowds. Whether you're a dive bar connoisseur, a fan of strong drinks, or simply looking for an off-the-beaten-path experience, this hidden gem has something for everyone. So, grab your guest pass or--better yet--become a member and make this your new favorite spot in Baton Rouge. You won't regret it.
