The Greeks is a warm and friendly hole in the wall kind of place. The beer selection is great and the staff very friendly. The food is on par since well it is a bar so don't expect steakhouse food but expect your normal but good pub comfort food. For the people that complain about the kids menu...your at a bar with your kid!! Seriously think that out in your head then write the review of being not the best parents! You parents use to complain about smoking in bars and having kids...same thing! Look where you are and common sense should kick in. I've been here a couple of times to stop in for a drink - I am not even a beer person and I have had some ridiculously good beers in here. They had a watermelon style ale (forgive my lack of beer knowledge - I know watermelon was involved) that I refused to order, but my friend forced me to try it and it was off the hook. It is unclear to me how the Greeks stays open with McShea's across the way, but I guess when it comes to local watering holes, people develop their own loyalties. I can't really speak to the issue of which place is more fun to drink at. So this review is just for how it rates as a place to eat. The food that we ordered ranged from mediocre to bad. Rubberband-like calamari in a thick, tasteless, heavy batter. Dry hamburgers. Oily, tasteless fries. The greek salad was not too bad, although could have stood a another ounce or two of feta. Grilled chicken sandwich with a slab of chicken that was over an inch thick, tough and cooked barely past the pink point, with wilted lettuce and a slice of mealy tomato. The service was friendly but quite incompetent. Wrong beer was brought. Wrong food was brought. Beverages were ordered and forgotten. No salad dressing brought. Etc. Waitresses were nice enough about making good, and very understanding when one of my kids spilled a drink, however. I tried it out because someone told me the food is actually good. Since I had once greatly underestimated McShea's, I thought maybe I would discover another little Narberth treasure. Alas not. We will not be back to eat there. If you go, when you go to the bathroom, do yourself a favor and do not look at the kitchen beyond that hallway, because you might throw up when you realize that your food is being prepared in there. Of the beer selection, I was surprised to find that the excellent choices of beers at the Greeks Next Door appears not to be available in the restaurant or at least is not included on the beer list. The Greeks is the quintessential local hangout. On any afternoon or evening, the Greeks is sure to have its regulars seated around the bar enjoying a cold brew. It's a no frills drinker's bar. It doesn't have the best pub food in Narberth or the best beer selection out of the local watering holes, but this place has authentic local atmosphere. They also serve a mean roasted pig during the Narberth fall and spring music festivals, during which they sell beer out of their front window to the fest-goers. My favorite bar on the Main Line hands down. A neighborhood bar and craft beer bar, all rolled into one. Seriously, they have about 20 solid craft beers on tap at any given time, and the list changes frequently. Bartenders are great too. This place is awful. Bottom line the food is not good and we were physically rushed out of the place to make room for people waiting. Tater tots are straight out of the box, my college caf had better tots. The "spicy" ketchup is straight Heinz. The "cheese" is nasty cheese wiz that hardened after 3 minutes. The roast pork is about as bland as it gets, if it weren't for the broccoli rabe I wouldn't have tasted anything at all. I had to add salt, I don't like salt. I cut up the 2 pickles to shove in there and then I put hot sauce on it because it was just that bland. The Greek salad had no taste either. The server was great, but overshadowed by the woman bussing tables and seating people. She took my plate while I was still chewing my last few bites and then took the other plate that had a good deal of food left. 5 mins later she asked us to move to the bar to make way for other people. We hadn't even been there 45 mins. Not my bad if your place isn't big enough to support the crowd at 6pm on a Saturday. I'm glad I went. Now I know to never go back.. As far as your beer store, I'll go to Ardmore, or Giant. read more

What a shame. The food here is excellent, but the ambient noise level is so high even with the place only two-thirds full that it's nearly impossible to converse. It's so unbearably noisy because one wall is comprised of very hard materials like mirrors, glass-front framed artwork, plaster, etc. The problem is exacerbated by music played through speakers throughout the place. If you go, go in good weather when you can sit outside, which is very pleasant. It's a further shame because they have a dozen excellent craft beers on tap and next-door their beer store has 200-300 more available to simply bring into the bar. Known to locals for years, the Greeks has recently undergone a change for the better with the added beer shop next door. The result is that this neighborhood tavern has been transformed from local bar to craft beer destination. The food is solid, we had the grilled kielbasa with pierogies, it came with a small side salad, was reasonably priced and tasted delicious. But what is going to bring me back again is the wide selection of craft beers on draft (there were 18 when we visited). The servers are friendly and don't mind bringing you a taste if you want to try one before ordering. Will be back more often! read more

I've never gone drinking here, so this review is just about eating. I've eaten at the Greeks a handful of times. It's always been really terrible. (I've gone back out of convenience a few times.) The service is unbelievably slow -- and this is when there is literally no one else sitting down to eat. The food ranges from mediocre to genuinely awful, and every time I've asked for something in particular (for example, I have an allergy and can't eat milk products) they've not gotten it right. This last visit is what inspired me to write. We waited an incredibly long time for really, truly bad food -- the burger was dry, the salad tasteless, etc. Also, we waited for a screwed-up order and the inability to offer my kid anything but french fries and a side salad with his sandwich. (No fruit, no veggies other than Brussels sprouts -- and this is a place with a kids' menu.) My kid wasn't offered anything to drink at all, so we just shared our waters with him. McShea's, across the street, has better food and is much more accommodating and friendly. So is the Great American Pub, which is a half-block away. No more of the Greeks for me. read more

This is a true institutional gem of Narberth. It's been their for years but I only truly discovered it last year. It has a stable of devoted regulars and you really get the neighborhood feel. I love the old wooden booth benches and the hand painted mural on the wall (which is actually the only Greek thing about the place). It's an incredibly friendly cozy spot with really decent pub comfort food. You are served with a smile and often a joke or two! At night it can get pretty lively. read more

I used to live in Narberth & only visited the Greeks a handful of times & found it to be just fine...a neighborhood bar with decent food & a very limited wine & beer selection....not really even worth commenting on. But this last experience was. We Sat outside with our dog after a run, looking forward to an early happy hour they had advertised on a chalk board from 430-630. The bartender came out, tossed some menus in front of me & asked me what I wanted. "What are your happy hour specials?" I ask. His answer came as my husband emerged from inside, "ooh, we don't have any." My confused retort, "Isn't there a sign behind you that says 'happy hour'?" Bartender: "Oh yeah, we just throw some food on the bar & that's our HH...." Not even sure what that's supposed to mean. He then asks us again what we want. Still confused as to why there's a sign for happy hour, but no I happy hour, I say, "I don't know what you have" (as there is no beer or wine list in front of me)...."We have everything." (is this guy drunk?) My response, "I seriously doubt that sir. What wines do you have?" Blah, blah, blah, "...fine, chardonnay." My husband, "What beers do you have?" Bartender's response, "What do you like?" (are you as exhausted reading this as I am typing it? Multiply that times 5 & that's how the actual experience felt.) Husband, annoyed, "uh, Belgians." Bartender: "We have Leff", (a blonde, not a Belgian...) After reluctantly reciting the draught list, my hubby settled on a beer that he doesn't really like, just to pick something & get this guy back inside. My guess is, he was drinking with the boys inside & thought he was begin amusing, but it was one of the most painful interactions at a bar I've had in my adulthood. We decided we weren't gonna eat there after that & couldn't wait to find out what our drinks cost. $11.50. That's what we left on the table, & that'll be the last time we go back. The Pub a half block away has better food & beer selection, outdoor seating, & (get this) service that doesn't make you feel like an intruder as a paying customer. There are too many places that do it right to return someplace that before. read more

Love patronizing our local pubs and restaurants and the Greeks fits the bill as a pub. We like burger Mondays and the burgers are consistantly great. But tonight, table service was sub par. Menus were literally dropped on the table, one face down. The waitress forgot my beer (and it's a pub), and we were left waiting 15 minutes with no waitress in sight until the bar tender noticed and brought our check. All basic service failures. It's me again! Only this time I have positive things to say! Was there this past Friday and had a WONDERFUL experience. We somehow got lucky and had the manager wait on us this time which brought my anixty about coming back down ALOT! Nickie what a jem she was. Super sweet, patient with our boys and very knowledgeable of the menu. She interacted with us like she knew us. I noticed she did it with every table she had! Love it! My husband got the Chicken Tinga which was great, I had the Grilled Hanger Steak and it came out perfect! Boys had chicken fingers and pasta. The kitchen was very accommodating to my sons allergies and I think it's great they don't use Peanut oil like some small restaurants do. The hostess was a "little off" she was hanging outside chatting with a gentleman smoking and Nickie ended up seating us. Molly I believe her name was gave some water and waited patiently for Chris our son to change his mind about his juice choice. Ha ha! Now the bathroom, I didn't want to go in there because I didn't want it to mess up the great experience I was having but well I had too. There was someone in there so I just stood waiting. Molly was at the register so I chatted with her a minute and to my surprise it was quite in the kitchen! AMEN!!!! Anixty gone! I'm not sure what happened there but whatever it is it made our experience even more wonderful! The staff is super friendly and work together as a team. They check on all the tables and clear plates as soon as your done. Our drinks always were full and the bartender made a mean Manhattan! I feel horrible for giving such a poor score last time and getting wrapped up in the negitivity with the man in the kitchen and not truly noticing how super nice the staff is out front and how wonderful the food was! I did ask Nickie if the kitchen changed and she said they did have a new gentleman back there to help out but overall it's the same. Who's knows but what I do know for a fact is we will be back! A great casual neighborhood bar, where we always have friendly service, and our young kids seem to magically behave better so that my husband and I can actually enjoy a good beer and quick meal together. In terms of food, I found it better to stick to their basics - their burgers, the nachos, fish and chips sandwich--you know, typical tavern fare. Family-friendly- they have crayons and a coloring sheet for the kids, and basic children's menu. They have a really great beer list. They also have the awesome craft beer store that is connected next door, of which my husband is a frequent customer. There's always a nice casual, friendly neighborhood vibe here between the staff and the customers. read more

Great spot me and the family stop by after a movie, the place was packed first time there figured with all the people food had to be good. The owner is the rudest most condescending person ive delt with in quite a while. The rest of the staff is lovely but the owner was very rude to me . They have a bad fruit fly problem and their kitchen is quite possibly the most grotesque thing I have ever seen they have obviously not put any money back in to the kitchen, The bar and restaurant are nice and comfortable atmospheres beside the fruit flies. The cook is great and talented so the food is decent but im hesitant to ever go back since I have seen the kitchen. read more
