A restaurant with a chef - a rare find in Phoenixville. The food and service are very good.read more

Excited to try this Greek restaurant. We dined at Avlos in Phoenixville,PA right before attending a…read moreshow at the Colonial Theater at the next block over. We were pleasantly surprised with our food. Started off with grape leaves (dolmas) served on a tzatziki sauce and an order of grilled octopus. The quality and portion did not disappoint. There must have been at least 8 dolmas on the plate which was more than enough for the two of us. The grilled octopus was also a nice size. Long solid tentacles that were served with a slightly tart dressing which complemented the basic seafood flavor you'd expect with either octopus or squid. No squid/calamari mixed in. I honestly wish we ordered 2 plates of the octopus instead of the dolmas. We were both craving gyros so that's what we got. It's huge! One order of gyro could have fed both of us. We each had to box half of our gyros to take home. Flavors were on point but the meat was a bit dry. Like chewy dry. There was a lot of tzatziki on it. It sort of balanced it out but I think it could've been better for a basic greek entree. Service was very friendly and informative. Waiter explained the menu, appetizers, entrees, specials, etc. Checked on us and brought our food in a timely manner. Excellent service. Not giving up on this place. We want to try 1 more time before giving final thoughts on this restaurant.

We arrived around 5:45pm to a fairly empty restaurant, which often gives me pause; but as the night went on, it quickly filled up. We were seated and tended to promptly. The interior is cool and inviting, with Greek artwork and upbeat music to enhance the ambiance. Our server was attentive and blunt in a fun, friendly way -- make sure you bring your sense of humor so you don't take anything personally! I had a bowl of the Chicken Avgolemono soup, though the smaller cup would've been more than enough. It was nice and hot. My husband and daughter both got Souvlaki platters but didn't want their Dolmades so I happily ate those. I also shared their fries and part of my daughter's Pork Souvlaki. The Dolmades were some of the best I've ever had and the fries were amazing. But the pork. Listen, I rarely choose pork as my protein and I was very unenthusiastic about it, but it was possibly the best pork I have eaten in my life. It was super tender and juicy and absolutely full of flavor. Together with the fresh pita, tzatziki, and cucumbers... I didn't have words. My husband enjoyed his Lamb Souvlaki, but he tried a bite of the pork and shared my sentiments. We shared a piece of Baklava for dessert, which was also delicious. It was a wonderfully satisfying meal! Restrooms were bright and clean, albeit you have to walk through their office-like area to get to them and kind of feel like you're intruding. If you are in the area and like Greek food or want to try something different, I highly recommend giving this spot a try. I would welcome the opportunity to go back!

The kind person working there let me have it for free as I had no other way to pay. It was really hot, I had over-exerted, and I clearly needed it. Kind people, solid food. I'll be back!

if i am being honest 3.5 stars would be better…read more now let's start with the good part. the gyro is delicious! I went out of my way to come here for lunch after i saw a facebook post from the cheese steak adventures's guy pop up! it was from a while ago but i figured if he liked it... why not? the pita is really good. chewy. warm and moist. i got the classic (more to come) which is basically a gyro with the fixin's. lamb and fries tzsatiki. perfect. now let's move on to the staff and the restaurant overall. there are so many things wrong. the website will not let you honor several of the lunch specials. if you click on certain links they're no good. dont try to use them, since you will get to the restaurant and they will charge you for whatever the order would have been. i mean i want to save two bucks like everyone else. next, i'm going to agree with the many other reviews... why in the world can you NOT get sauce on the side if you pay for it? do they not have any lil cups?! i looked around this place is pretty cut and dry. i know it sounds like BS but i think they dont have those lil tiny cups. ...then there is the staff. i want so badly for them to hire the 'local lady who answers the phone'. they need it in the worst way. the guy who picks up is as fun as paint drying. it's a huge turn off for folks who know the food is good but the staff is not. will i be back... ?you damn right. but i am going to avoid a bunch of things from the jump: i'm only ordering online, if there is an upsell for sides and they do not have them i will just ask for my money back. they use toast for their ordering system and they will honor refunds if need be, and park around back. they have 2 spaces, the staff is using them too! i really hope things turn around in this location. they are not in philly anymore. it's the 'burbs baby!
