With rotating cuisines, this particular week catered to Italian fare. My choices were the shrimp bruschetta, poached sole & panna cotta. Shrimp bruschetta- A large shrimp on top of bruschetta, placed squarely in a plate of fennel broth. The broth was an interesting take, as the bruschetta soaked it up & became slightly mushy/slightly crusty. Poached sole- A large fillet of sole, paired with carrots, asparagus and fennel. I could taste the sole was previously frozen, as I've caught & cooked sole, which is a fatty & flavorful fish. The fillet could've used more sauce. Panna cotta- A winner! The pulled sugar was fun to eat, providing a contrast in texture to the creamy panna cotta. Service was excellent. Located at Building V, parking is $2/all day at the adjacent structure on Clark & Carson. For a fair amount of a jaunt, free parking can be had at LBX. Wanna feel like a judge on Hell's Kitchen? It's fun, engaging, and perfectly age-appropriate. I felt incredibly safe leaving my daughter under Miss Brittney's instruction. She was very communicative about my daughter's performance in class, and sent lots of pictures from the class so I could take a peek into their activities. Best of all, my daughter has gained so much confidence. She's proud of her new skills and now wants to help cook at home. Highly recommend for any parent looking for a fun, skill-building activity for their child!

I am not one that leaves negative reviews but we had such an interesting experience that I felt…read morelike I had to share. My two kids were enrolled in the School of Caroline for the Spring semester 2026. They attended one class and at the end of class at pick up all the parents and kids were on her lawn (she dismisses from her front door) and as we were getting ready to leave she notified me that my 5 year old son "nicked his finger" (in her exact words) during class and that she put a bandaid on it. Based on what she said and how she communicated it, I expected it to be a small cut on his finger. I didn't think anything of it. When we got home, I eventually removed the bandaid and came to find out he had nearly sliced the whole top of his finger off. He ended up having to wear a splint and keep if completely bandaged with antibiotic ointment for weeks for it to heal. Was my issue that my son hurt himself? No. Kids get injured all the time. My issue was with her lack of communication and failure to recognize or admit that it should have been handled or communicated any differently. A few days later, I received an email from her stating the only way we (and everyone else in the class) could continue with her class is if we signed a release of liability and waiver. If we didn't sign it, kids could not attend. After asking some follow up questions about the waiver and how she plans to handle situations like this in the future and her being completely defensive I told her "if you can't recognize that my sons injury was not "minor" and that it it probably should have been handled in a better way then I don't know if this class is for us." She mentioned that anyone that did not want to sign the waiver would be refunded "for the remaining of the semester." That is what we decided to do. Once the refund was processed, I realized she charged us for another class we did not attend. When I questioned her about this she said it was because we pulled out 24 hours before the class. Though she had never once mentioned to us that this was a thing. I debated whether or not to share anything online. Especially because my kids actually really did enjoy the class (beyond my sons incident). The class itself would get a 5 star review like many others have said. I really wanted to make it work and asked her if we could please resolve this in a good way because I would really love my kids to be able to attend. The issue became more about how she handled a difficult situation, her lack of transparent communication with us, her defensiveness and dismissal through the process, and her failure to follow through with what she said.

It probably should have its own listing but as other reviews for it seem to be here already (and because I'm too lazy to create a new listing) I'm leaving my review here. The restaurant is small, perhaps a dozen tables, and is difficult to find. It is hidden down a hall and around the corner from the student cafe. It's behind what looks like just another classroom door. They have designated parking right near the restaurant and provide a parking pass to put on your dashboard so you don't have to pay for student parking. Chefs and servers are students supervised by instructors. The menu changes periodically and they also have special theme meals from time to time which you can be informed of by providing your email. Although I'm not certain, I think it was my server's first time ever attending to someone. She was a little unsure of herself but very sweet and went back to the kitchen to get answers to questions when she didn't know. I gave her my order and sat back to see what would come out to the table. I was first given a complimentary bruschetta with eggplant which was an excellent little appetizer. I then had some potato leek soup which was thick and delicious; a perfect starter on a cold day. Next came my main meal - a bento box with pork katsu. As one would expect, as this meal was prepared by students, there were hits and misses. The pork was cooked well but the coating wasn't quite what I've come to expect (too oily, no crunch - I don't think they used Panko - and over salted). The tempura vegetables were superb. The salad had a bit much dressing on it but I personally like it that way. Dessert was an incredible rich chocolate cake with raspberry filling. The cake itself was worth the price I paid for the entire meal. Prices are insanely cheap and portions are plentiful. The perfection of the food on your plate will vary depending on what students are cooking that day. If you are a risk taker and want to have some fun, this is a great little student restaurant to enjoy some tasty food and give future chefs some experience.
