I was in town visiting and was trying to determine where to go to eat for dinner. Every local that…read moreI spoke with recommended this place. This place feels like your traditional mom and pop restaurant where you can get a home cooked meal. When I got there, I was greeted by kind host who took me to my seat. There is plenty of seating to dine in as well as an area to wait with seating for carry out orders. The waitress was waiting on me was also very kind. My food came out quickly, and I also ordered carryout which also came out quickly. I ordered the catfish platter with a baked potato and macaroni and cheese. The fish was crispy and well seasoned. The macaroni and cheese was really good and the baked potato, was your standard baked potato. All of my food came out hot and fresh. The price point here is also something that you cannot beat. I also ordered a half-and-half to wash it all down. The next time I am in Marion, I will definitely be back to this restaurant to try some of their other offerings as well as their desserts.

Ordered ribs with corn on the cob and sweet potato fries. The only thing that wasn't refrigerator cold was the fries. The ribs and corn had warm spots but near the bone and cob were both cold, refrigerator cold. I don't send things back or complain as I believe food should come out right. The restaurant was not busy at all so maybe that had something to do with it? My friend riding with me had the same experience. Food may have been good had it been warm.

This was our very first visit to Chubbfathers in Alabaster, Alabama. The food, the service, and the…read moreambience were all just right.. The menu is quite extensive, and it was hard for us to make a decision. Nevertheless, we persevered and made our choices. I've posted photos so you can see the two burgers that we enjoyed We highly recommend trying out this place. While we would be tempted to order exactly the same thing again, we think we will start our journey through the menu.

Let me say first - lots of people like this place. I like to preface this before writing my…read morereview. We didn't care for it. The burgers were ok. My son got the sloppy Joe and he didn't like it and just didn't eat it. I tasted it and I didn't like it either. It was very sweet. I got the Cajun burger (i think that was the name). It has horseradish and fried onions on it. I should have got the onions on the side because it's a lot of onions. They are good - just better on the side and then add as much on the burger as you want. I would have got some extra horseradish also. It was ok. The restaurant is very clean and tidy. The service is fine. You order at the counter and if you want a refill on your drink you go back to the counter. Plenty of parking. Nicely lit. Lots and lots of locals. Definitely use Google Maps or something to get there because the restaurant building looks like an office building and you can't really see the sign. They have a meat and three menu so I was excited about that but on a Saturday afternoon they were out of a lot of sides. I didn't choose the meat and 3 because they were out of many things.

On our way down to the gulf to attend a conference, Montgomery seemed like a good place to stop. A…read morequick search revealed Vicki's was frequently voted one of the best, if not the best, burger in Montgomery. It seemed like it would be quick to visit and hop back on the road, so we agreed it would be the stop to try some local flavor. I'm glad it was! This place is clearly well-known and well-loved by locals. There was a line when we got there that persisted pretty much the entire time we sat and ate. That said, the line moved quickly and we got our food in less than ten minutes. Impressive and efficient operation for sure! They have a very simple menu with only a few choices done well. I do really appreciate that you can have your choice of a 4, 6, or 8 oz burger. I ordered a 4 oz burger and my parents ordered an 8 oz to split. You can get burgers alone or in a combo basket with fries and a drink, which is what we opted for. There is a self-service drink and condiment bar that has sauces like ketchup, honey mustard, and ranch or, as it is humorously labeled here, "fat girl ketchup." Lol. The service was friendly and patiently answered our couple of questions. Like I said earlier, food came out very swiftly and was fresh and hot. Everything was good! The burgers have an old timey diner burger feel and are seasoned quite well. I wouldn't say they're the best burgers I've ever had, but certainly they are very solid and worth a stop to try. The fries were very hot and crispy. The fat girl ketchup (aka ranch) was a bit of a disappointment - not super creamy, kind of salad dressing vibe - but that was the only real complaint I had. I saw memorial plaques indicating an upcoming celebration of life for I assume Vicki herself, who evidently passed earlier this year. It seems that she was very well loved. It's nice that her business is clearly so successful. I hope the success continues for the community and her family for years to come!
