Stopped by on a recent road trip after checking the area for a place to stop for lunch. Saw two places with good reviews and decided on Lotties. Very disappointing. Ordered ribs with corn on the cob and sweet potato fries. The only thing that wasn't refrigerator cold was the fries. The ribs and corn had warm spots but near the bone and cob were both cold, refrigerator cold. I don't send things back or complain as I believe food should come out right. The restaurant was not busy at all so maybe that had something to do with it? My friend riding with me had the same experience. Food may have been good had it been warm.

Look no further! Southern/Soul Food perfection! Good Prices. We are here visiting our son who is here for school. A self proclaimed foodie I was very excited to try the food in Alabama for the first time. We stayed first in Birmingham and tried some places that were highly recommended and featured on some shows. They were good but for me did not live up to the hype. We checked into our hotel and headed towards the court house square in town. We checked out the sites, learned about the history of Marion, and shopped a bit so we worked up an appetite. We stopped into Lottie's and immediately received a warm welcome. We came for lunch. They had a lot of people ordering take out. As guests we were treated as if we were more like friends or family. As for the food.....again perfection. I ordered the Chicken plate. It came with two sides of your choice and toast. The Chicken was crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. Seriously the best fried Chicken I've ever had. For sides I ordered the Mac and Cheese, fried okra, and added the green beans. The Mac and Cheese was rich & flavorful. The fried okra was crispy, flavorful and moist but not slimy. The greens beans were also the best green beans I've ever had. I could eat a whole bowl of it .....it was so tasty. My husband rarely orders seafood at restaurants. He opted for the catfish and shrimp platter and was not disappointed. I tried some of his food as well. The seafood was cooked perfectly and was flavorful. Fried onion rings were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. He enjoyed it very much. We aren't use to meals this large. It was so good we ate everything. I wish I lived closer because I would come in at least once a week even if it meant an hour drive each way. Since we are just passing through I'm planning to come back tomorrow before heading out and for sure will head there every time we are out this way.

    My beautiful lunch date!

The fried catfish plate with fried okra and a baked potatoe is what I had most recently and it was out of this world.

If you're looking for the go-to BBQ spot in Selma, this is it. No question. This place delivers…read morethat authentic, Southern, mom-and-pop barbecue experience that you hope for when you're in Alabama. They cover most of the BBQ classics -- pork, chicken, ribs, burgers, and all the traditional Southern sides -- though no brisket here. Honestly? You won't even miss it. We ordered the 1/2 lb of BBQ pork plate with fried okra and corn nuggets (the plate comes with two sides, which is perfect). The pork was everything great barbecue should be: moist, smoky, tender, and packed with flavor. You could taste the care in every bite. It's the kind of meal that makes you slow down and savor it. The fried okra was crispy and seasoned just right, and the corn nuggets were golden little bites of happiness -- slightly sweet, crunchy outside, soft inside. A perfect pairing with the pork. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They gladly offered suggestions for sides and made us feel like regulars even though it was our first visit. That kind of hospitality makes a big difference. Parking is right out front -- probably around eight spots -- and they do fill up quickly, especially at lunch. The restaurant was busy with mostly locals, which is always a great sign. The location is tucked away in a residential area, so definitely look up directions beforehand. There's a small street sign, but it's easy to miss if you're not paying attention. All in all, this spot has that genuine small-town BBQ charm with big-time flavor. If you're in Selma and craving real Southern barbecue, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!

We also added in some fried hot wings, which were crunchy and pleasantly spiced. On the side, we enjoyed the crispy slaw and sweet corn nuggets. Of course we washed it all down with some sweet tea. Man, I wish I could have those ribs for breakfast every day! Also, the folks at Lannie's were really nice.

Fortunately, the Pastor had just given a sermon on "wait for it" which is exactly what I had to do. Now, let's get to the food.... The greens, pinto beans and Mac n' cheese were all seasoned to perfection. The servings were more than enough. Even standing at the door at 11:05 the door was locked. Staff saw me but failed to acknowledge me. 6 mins later someone leaving explained they were running behind and would be opening soon. They left but I appreciate their information. I sat at one of the dining tables outside and then went to my car and turned the AC on. An older lady using a walker showed up next and then another customer. They wondered why the doors were still locked too? Before they walked off I shared the information I received. There was a gentleman doing paperwork in the lower dining room that ignored his customers at locked doors over 15 minutes passed opening time. Finally at 11:22 someone nonchalantly unlocked the doors to customers that waited for them to open. There wasn't an apology, an explanation nor any appreciation for people waiting to give them our money. Their menu listed baked chicken and dressing on that day's menu. I saw leg quarters in a cream gravy! I asked if there was any white parts of the chicken? Nope only thigh and legs was the curt answer. That's something that should be listed on their menu. I came for the chic/dress and I hate dark pieces! I got the chopped steak over dressing instead of the rice he offered. Mac/cheese and Pinto Beans. No rolls only corn bread. I dislike corn bread too but will eat it smothered in butter and honey. They don't offer butter. I didn't even ask about honey at the point. The muffins are supposed to be Mexican corn bread. I didn't see nor taste any jalapeño but nonetheless it was delicious just the same. My dog was happy they give such large servings of beef steaks. I had two 1.25 lbs of their hand formed chopped patties. More than I could eat. The brown gravy was decent. Even over the dressing. It had too much sage! I picked out on my tongue sage pieces twice. Otherwise it was good. I asked for cranberry sauce and she pulled an uncovered pan of discolored, halved served cranberry sauce out the fridge. There were remnants of various other food crumbs in it. I don't know if there was a film from being uncovered that changed the color or it had been in the fridge too long? I wasn't taking any chances with it. Hopefully when I told her "No thanks, I'm passing on that"! She caught my issues and dumped it. They need to improve their standards to prevent having to dump half a gallon of grimly looking ingredients. Another customer asked if Bread Pudding is only available on certain days? The cashier's bleak answer was "Yes". Instead of upselling and informing customers the days the bread pudding is sold!?! She just said yes. She's the same one that opened the door without thanking customers for waiting on them to do business? I paid almost $15 to only eat 1/4 of the beef, corn muffin and pinto beans. I was there opening day and left because the line was so long. Hence I was expecting better Customer Service, truth in the daily menus posted on their website and decent miscellaneous food. Butter for instance. Proper handling of refrigerated goods needs to be improved. Had someone, anyone had apologized for the delay I would not even mention it here. Attention to Customer Service Skills are paramount to the success of a new business. It hurts me to give a two to a BOB, but this is my honest assessment of my visit. Having to wait over 20 minutes for them to unlock the doors is ridiculous. Especially when there's an elderly lady depending on a walker. They should have welcomed customers inside to sit at a table, while they finished stocking the steam table. Offered her something to drink. Unfortunately, they won't get but one time to see me at their locked door, not acknowledging me while pointing me out to coworkers. On opening day I prayed for their continued success. Even the gentleman doing paperwork failed to find the need to apologize for their shortcomings. He needs to know if things continue like this, he won't have paperwork to complete on a business that's closed. Why don't they offer mash potatoes? Or rolls for those cat don't eat corn bread. Their online menu should be clearer about the days desserts are available. If the staff isn't warm and fuzzy, then the food better be on fire! The
