Stopped in once I got into town after about 4:30 pm Friday. Friendly staff that carried conversation and also answered questions we had about the menu. Our large order included two rib plates, yet after waiting for almost a hour, with numerous other customers coming in and out, someone from the back finally came out and announced that they had ran out of ribs and the wait for ribs would be a hour long... we had already been waiting for a hour tho ?? The miscommunication / lack of communication from the kitchen had some customers ready to get their money back, but my order of ribs finally came out after another 30 mins ... I ordered a rib and pork plate with Mac and cheese and potato salad as sides (7.5/10) I enjoyed the potato salad the most. The ribs looked big, but there really wasn't much meat on them compared to the size of the bone. Both the pork and ribs were dry and def needed the sauce that was included. The meats with the sauce did have good seasoning / flavor tho. I also tried their banana pudding (8/10). My grandmother has been a regular at A Slab and More, visiting at least three times a week for barbecue sandwiches and banana pudding. She often sends me to pick up her order with her PNC bank card. During a recent visit, she gave me two rolls of coins totaling about $15. The servers--who know both of us well--were prepared to accept the payment, but the owner, Stephanie, refused, saying, "We don't take change." Her tone and expression were hostile and condescending. I was surprised and upset. I explained calmly that the coins were neatly rolled, not loose and messy, but she remained curt and dismissive. Several customers were present. When I told Stephanie I intended to post a review online, she offered a refund. I declined the refund; my goal was not money back but to warn others about the way customers are treated. My grandmother wanted the barbecue, so we kept the food and left. This place is in an impoverished neighborhood, the projects or low income housing. However you want to put it. Just don't get caught there after dark. As a frequent reviewer on Yelp and Google, I value honest feedback. I feel compelled to share this experience because Stephanie's behavior was unprofessional and rude. A business owner should show respect to everyone who patronizes her establishment, regardless of their background or where the restaurant is located. Refusing to accept rolled coins without a reasonable explanation and doing so in a way that made me feel belittled was unacceptable. In my opinion, Stephanie would benefit from customer service training--especially in communication and sensitivity. If her business policy is to refuse cash or certain forms of payment, that policy should be clearly posted so customers are not embarrassed or turned away. Until she improves how she treats customers, I cannot recommend this restaurant to friends or family. My grandmother, a loyal patron, will be taking her business elsewhere. read more

Absolutely some of the worst service I've ever had! I asked for a couple tartar sauces for my catfish plate so the man brought 1 back that was 1/4 full. I asked him for one more please and he told me it would be $.50 even though I have never been charged for tartar sauce. I walk to the car and scrape up change so I didn't have to use my debit card. When I handed him the change he threw it on the counter and it went all over the floor! He was mad because I had to pay with some pennies, dimes, and nickels. Everyone in there looked shocked! So I tried some barbecue today.... And I was so disappointed the ribs were tough. The potato salad tasted like it was bought from Walmart the baked beans I thought it came from I can and was doctored up, I also got a brisket plate that was on special today. It was so much fat there was no point in calling in brisket!!! the only saving grace was the macaroni and cheese, and that needed more cheese. The fried okra tasted like little fried pieces of rocks. The staff was friendly and wonderful! They made us out of towners feel right at home. All the locals were in and out with their Memorial Day orders and these folks were all over it. Everything we tried was delicious. From the pork to the ribs and sides to the desserts! German chocolate cake to write home about Sliders were like nothing I've tried before but they were delicious and I'm stupid picky. Would HIGHLY recommend. This review is about the Loaded Spuds. As I drove down the street today, I prayed and crossed my fingers that this place was closed due to the bad weather. If they would have been closed, could have driven by without a guilty conscience. But. Today. They were open and since they were open. I was going to stop and get these Loaded Spud's. I can't describe how good these Spuds are. Mouth watering comes to mind. Amazing is a word that might work. If I was allowed to curse on Yelp, I would while describing how good these Loaded Spud's are. First time I tried them, was a wash. I got them and offered my dad a taste while I got our other foods together. While I offered him a taste, by the time I came back outside. He has eaten all of them. I almost kicked my dad in the foot. I had a tasted two fries and he had eaten all the rest. And he was like those were some good Spud's. I couldn't believe he did that. So the next day I came back and ordered some for myself, with no intention of sharing. They were GREAT. I've come back several times and all I want are these Loaded Spud's. If you are ever in Gallion Alabama, stop by and get some. They have two flavors. Buffalo and BBQ. I've not tried the BBQ ones yet, cause I go into autopilot when I walk in the door and just order the Buffalo Spud's. This really is great BBQ. I had the rib and pulled pork plate. With potato salad and Cole slaw. Everything was traditional southern cooking and it was some of the best I've had. The ribs had great smokey flavor and were well cooked. The pulled pork paired with the sauce was a great combination. I also had a piece of chicken and it was perfectly slow smoked. I ordered the rib and pork plate, the cashier was rude and acted inconvenienced to take my order, told me they were out of Mac and cheese and when asked what other sides were available she slammed a menu in my face and just pointed at the sides, was charged a service fee on my card and wasn't told why, the ribs were so hard I couldn't chew them, (serious like dehydrated jerky)the pulled pork was still cold in the center I'm assuming it wasn't heated all the way. My father just got a hamburger and he said it taste like it was soaked in dales and was a prefrozen patty, fries and okra taste like old grease and left a foul taste in your mouth. My dads hamburger bun had a plastic piece of a cracker wrapper stuck to it(neither of us had crackers or ate any crackers) needless to say we didn't finish our meal. $23 down the drain... not to mention the table was sticky so we wiped it down and the napkin was black. The waitress was eating her food standing at the server window. We were traveling in town for work and gave this place a shot bc it had good reviews. Idk maybe we just came at a bad time but this place was gross. Sometimes looks can be deceiving but this is not the case here...save your $ and stomach!!!
