Hat tavern downstairs has a nice little menu. This is the burger, with cheese and chili added, side Caesar salad.

Ok, I don't pick this hotel, my company does. I need to send them a box of chocolates, because I love this hotel. It oozes everything a Holiday Inn is not- class, history, elegance, dignity. The staff is friendly. The rooms are small-ish, but still big enough, really. One advantage? a 10 minute walk to the train station, for a ride into the City, if that's your game. Check out the breakfast in the Tavern. Great.

I stayed in the Grand Summit Hotel last night for a special event. Check-in process was efficient and easy. Service was friendly. The hotel is a beautiful, historical building. The room had two double beds. I liked the book case in the room. It made the are feel homey. Shower was small. Overall, very clean and comfortable. Rate for room was reasonable. Room includes a buffet breakfast at the Hat Tavern downstairs. We were greeted upon arriving and there was a great spread of breakfast goodies. OJ was yum and the cheese blintzes were a great surprise. The event room is spectacular. Recently renovated and teched up to the max. Jimmy the catering director knows his food and all passed hors d'oeuvres were top quality. Loved the mashed potato bar. Room decor is stunning but was really impressed with the TV screens which connect wirelessly to any device and turn to mirrors when not in use.

I came here to stay because of a training for work. After looking at the hotel online and seeing the rooms and reviews, I was a little nervous about staying here. The staff at the desk was very friendly. The girl was very informative and friendly. 1. Coming to the room, the doors were very old and took some time to figure out how to use the key to open the door. 2. Scoping the room out, noticed there was not a microwave nor a fridge in the room. 3. After sitting on the bed, a bottle cap from probably a previous guest is STILL under the dresser in the room. This just makes me feel as if housekeeping does not properly clean the room. 4. While we are on housekeeping, they came to the room at 8 AM to tend to it. I, getting ready to head out for my training, was not ready and still getting dressed. Not understanding why housekeeping would come so early. Came back to the room around 5:30, bottle cap still under the dresser and a hair was found on top of the comforter that they just made the bed. (Hair was not mine) 5. Speaking of hair, after getting out the shower, went to the sink to brush my teeth and the wall had hair all over again. Again, not my hair. 6. Light over the table was broken. If this were not paid for by my company, I would ask for a refund. This hotel is not somewhere I would ever stay again. The only reason I am giving it a 2 is because the food at the restaurant downstairs was amazing.

Have to put a towel down due to the light coming in

I do love the ambiance in the lobby, & halls. It does give the hotel great character. However the rooms I feel are outdated!! You can still have old architectural character, without having old dusty books on a shelf, and a stained tub. Doors, Tubs, Crown Molding, Elevator, Bedding, Air Conditioning Units need to be updated. The bed was EXTREMELY, & I mean EXTREMELY uncomfortable!!!!!!!!!!!! The pillows were even worse!! I'm actually staying at the hotel now, & it's 6:05AM...I've been up since 2AM due to a swore back from sleeping on this bed for 3 nights. If I'm going to spend $200 a night, I expect to sleep on a cloud! Just saying!! Pros: Great Breakfast Selection!!!! (Taste wise, it was ok) I travel for business, & this is hands down the best selection of a continental breakfast ever!!! The staff is very polite, attentive, & friendly!! Cons: BED..PILLOWS...some of the bed dressing hadn't been cleaned (bed skirt, comforter). Had stains when I checked in. For a hotel regardless of all the other things going on, should NOT have lumpy pillows! It feels like I'm laying on a bag of moth balls... And the room service menu was lack there of..not only that..everything on the ROOM SERVICE menu is a $1 more than the RESTAURANT menu downstairs. Which they also already add a $1.00 to your order PLUS 19% service charge. I still tipped..but that's a bit much for food that doesn't taste any better than a local IHOP. Do I recommend staying here for a good night sleep, room service food, and/or relaxation..NO. I'd go somewhere else!

Staff was friendly. 1 star off: Even though the hotel is located in a residential area, there was still quite a bit of street noise. The walls were thin and either construction noise or a neighbor's alarm woke me up every morning. Breakfast was included. There was a Starbucks conveniently located right in the lobby, i.e. you can roll out of bed and get a coffee without putting on the whole gear to go outside in the cold. Happy hour occurs every afternoon, and upon check-in, I was given a few drink tickets. I didn't end up using them, but it was a nice add-on.

I love the proximity of this hotel to the Newark airport (around 25 minutes away). I also love that there is a Starbucks and restaurant (grain and cane) downstairs for convenience. I took advantage of both for an evening beverage (they Starbucks closes at 6pm) and dinner. This hotel is located in a quiet business area and I love that there is ample free lot parking which I've found to be quite rare with Jersey hotels! The front desk staff are very nice and even took the time to ask how my dinner was! This also seemed to be a very popular wedding guest hotel based on large groups I saw checking in and wedding guest gifts behind the desk. I'll be sure to consider this hotel as an option next time I'm in the area, especially before a flight out of EWR.

REVIEW AS EVENT SPACE ONLY (SECRET TEA ROOM):…read more I attended a baby shower held at the DeBary Inn in Summit last weekend. This was my first time inside the building, which was built circa 1880, and also at a Cream Tea. It was a lovely experience! Secret Tea Room is a pop-up company that creates classic English tea party experiences. They host events at four locations - DeBary Inn and Reeves-Reed Arboretum (Summit), Morven Museum and Gardens (Princeton), and Van Vleck Gardens (Montclair). Great attention to details! Everyone loved the table settings and chinaware. The loose leaf teas were wonderful; that day, we had an apple cider, Ceylon, and green tea. Then came out the tiers. Oh, the scones! The scones are baked on premise, so they were fresh and delicious. At one point, the hosts also walked around table to table with fresh scones from the oven. It was so nice. I overheard a guest from another table joke, "Oh, you can leave the tray of 17 right here for us please. Thank you!" lol Because it's December, the DeBary Inn was decorated for the holidays with a lighted tree. Many guests took selfies in the living room/greeting area. It was a cute venue and party concept for a baby shower!

The door stuck as another Yelper noted, but I could easily shut it completely with minimal effort, so not an issue for me at all. Shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel provided in the shower stall, and facial soap bar, lotion, and mouthwash, which was more bonus points, as I've never seen this provided and I don't like to bottle my own and seal it to bring when I travel! There is an on-site restaurabt and bar called Moe's, where colleagues and I had a beer and dinner the night before. I didn't take photos, but I enjoyed grilled shrimp with polenta cakes with a mushroom sauce. Service was good.
