Little bites by the fireplace

Wish I had taken more photos! Couple things: 1. The rooms were shockingly much better than the photos i saw on the website before we went. So keep that in mind when considering this place. We stayed in Cecilia's suite and it was extremely clean, beautifully decorated, and romantic /cozy. Felt very at home. 2. The service. I'm not sure I've ever been to a place that does hospitality better than this place. Holger and Rosie are kind, extremely accommodating, and dish out DELICIOUS breakfasts. The attention to detail of their service and of the place in general is amazing. 3. Location was great, walking distance to a number of great restaurants, 5min drive from Okemo. All in all, this place should be charging more. It's awesome, if you're on the fence, give it a try - you won't be disappointed

This is a charm filled Inn in the center of the lovely town of Ludlow VT. The innkeepers Holger and Rosie are charming and helpful. They pointed us to a great dinner restaurant , as we had not made a reservation ahead. The room was large, with all of the amenities you would expect including bathrobe, toiletries, sewing kit, etc. I especially appreciated the makeup washcloth ! Breakfast had several courses and was very filling, we had to ask for half portions both mornings ! We will definitely come back

The absolute best! Rosemarie and Holger were the perfect hostess and host for many reasons besides the unbelievable homemade breakfast each morning including Strawberry Pistachio Tower, Cinnamon Sugar Bourbon Pumpkin Muffin, Lime-Coconut Smoothie Bowl, Poached Egg "Caprese", and Herbs Egg Souffle (Egg, Creme Fraiche, and Cream Cheese mixed with fresh Herbs) with Breakfast Sausage and Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. We had booked for three nights but because of the change in ski weather...too warm, they graciously allowed us to change to only two nights. Plus, I had left something valuable in the room and not only did I receive a VM but as we drove by the Inn on the way home from the mountain, Holger ran out to our car and gave it back to me! Where does one find such graciousness and hospitality today. Bravo and highly recommend!

Rosie makes the best breakfast, always made us feel special! Thank you Holger for always being there with the coffee!

My husband and I came to Vermont to enjoy the change of color. When we arrived at The governor's Inn we were greeted by Holger and made to feel very welcome. The bed and breakfast is decorated so lovely and our room was cozy and comfortable. Rosie made the most wonderful breakfast and the dining room was very charming. Holger was there to answer all our questions give us ideas for where to visit and was always so pleasant and congenial. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for our Vermont excursion. Hope to come back and stay with these lovely people again.

Hosts were the nicest ever and the food was amazing. definitely stay here! also great views of the mountain from the room

We had the top accommodation ( nicknamed the penthouse ) all to ourselves and at first glance, we found it to be really nice. The building itself is quite old, but the space is overall well maintained and the rooms were large as well as nice. The space had more than enough room for all of us as well as a decently sized kitchen and a living room. The amount of room we were given was more than sufficient for 8, but we were without water for the entire stay. It was revealed after we checked out that a plumber had uncovered a leak in the pipes which was why the water was failing to get to our unit at the top, but overall, it left us feeling very discouraged as we couldn't shower, wash dishes, or even flush our toilets. We were compensated $100 at the end and were allowed to use another room's shower for the second night ( not the first though since they were fully booked ), but the first night definitely felt rough as we had skiied and snowboarded all day without the ability to shower. The food for breakfast was pretty decent - I enjoyed the complementary meal both days, the first day being a buffet style and the second day being more of an order whatever you'd like due to the smaller crowd. It was pretty standard with eggs, bacon / sausage, pancakes / French toast, and a variety of juices as well as coffee. I would only not recommend the French toast as it was just like bread dipped in egg rather than having the actual flavor of French toast. Overall, I wouldn't mind booking the space again as the staff were kind enough and doing their best, but probably not with the penthouse out of fear of not having water again.

I came across this B&B because my daughter had just moved to Vermont and I was looking for a B&B to stay at. I wanted something nice because it was my first time going to Vermont. I was so happy I had found this place, it was a wonderful experience. The B&B and farm was so beautiful. The owners were amazing and the nicest people. I'm sorry I can't remember their names. I had a room on the first floor. I remember mentioning to her that I was visiting my daughter and that I wish I could cook my daughter her favorite meals. The owner mentioned that they had an apartment like room on the 2nd floor with a kitchen that was already reserved, however if the people who reserved it don't show up, I could have the room. They did not show up so I got that beautiful room with a outside porch and beautiful view. My daughter even slept over for a couple of nights and I was able to cook some of her favorite meals. The stay included breakfast which was the best. The house was so charming. It was the best experience I ever had. The following year I drove and called to book a room and found out no pets were allowed. I was devastated. I would have been a life long customer. I highly recommend this B&B. Also, best maple syrup ever!

The innkeeper was very friendly and personable and I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting the area. The main building has four guest quarters on the second floor. We had a HUGE room complete with sitting area, large windows and a spacious adjoining bathroom. The rest of the main building consisted of a large entry room, receiving room with lots of Vermont products for sale, kitchen, dining, game room, and a larger family type room. The whole house was surrounded by deep wrap around porches. There is also a cottage with two additional guest quarters, barns, a screened gazebo, a swimming pond full of frogs, horses, and some additional outbuildings. The property backs up to Quechee Gorge. Breakfast was different and very tasty each day. The first day was a spinach and egg dish, served with granola, fruit, coffee and yogurt. The second day was stuffed baked french toast with the same accompaniments. The innkeeper made reservations for us for dinner the second night we were there, just another great touch. The decor of the rooms was a little more modern than most B&Bs and I rather enjoyed it. Our room was outfitted with two nice leather chairs with ottomans, a substantial king sized bed with white, red and black linens, and some interesting artwork (little pewter and copper figurines on a shelf, etc). Such a nice time, I think we will splurge next summer at full price to get a weekend away here.
