Our first incident here was when our dog slipped out of her collar when a staff member was handling her outside of the building. Our dog ran into the busy road and narrowly survived. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was an honest mistake. Last week when we picked our dog up at the end of the day we were informed that she had a gash on her leg and had been limping in the morning. We took our dog to a veterinary urgent care facility and, five hours and 1500 dollars later, we were informed by the vet that she had most likely been bitten due to the nature of the wound and the level of pocketing. Our dog now has stitches, a drain, has to take medication, and has to be monitored in a cone for 10-14 days. The following day I spoke with the owners. I asked why they hadn't called us when our dog was limping in the morning, and why they again failed to inform us that they found a bleeding wound on my dog in the afternoon. The male owner spent the conversation downplaying the event and arguing with me, claiming they had only seen a "little red dot" and that "these things happen when dogs play". He also came up with excuses like, "it's hard to see wounds sometimes because of fur," yet our dog has short white fur. No matter what, the owners/staff should have called us when they noticed that our dog was injured. They refused to help with the vet bill, but did refund our daycare package.

The dogs were sent to Tolland Tails as they needed the best! I adopted my dog and took him home a week after he was saved. After one month my dog would not let anyone in my home, constantly barking I realized I should not have insisted on taking him home so quickly as we were unable to correct these behaviors. Alyssa did advise us to leave the dogs with her as she did not have time to assess them fully. I should have listened! I had a trainer come into my home once a week and after 5 weeks I was told my dog was a liability and I should get rid of him! I immediately called Alyssa at Tolland Tails who got into her car and within hours was at my home to assess the situation. She took my dog with her and within three hours called to tell me that my dog could definitely be trained! I decided to leave my dog at Tolland Tails for 4 to 6 weeks of training. One day each week I made the drive and II was also trained! Fast foward to today...I have the best dog ever! Does he still require work, yes, but I was sent home with a manual as to what to do. I call Alyssa with any questions and she gets back to me each and every time! Even if its as simple as to what training treats are safe! Did It cost me a little money yes, but it was worth every penny and in comparison to other trainers she is so reasonable. I would highly recommend Tolland Tails!

The staff is super friendly and responsive - you can also tell they truly care about the dogs. We've only boarded there once, but so far so good! You can drop your dog off in the am and pick them up the next day in the pm for no additional day care charge like other places - they do this because there are shortened play hours on the weekend - but it's still better than my pup sitting home alone when I can't be there! They always remember us & our dogs name & always double check on feeding schedule & amounts which I appreciate. We had a couple of bad experiences at other larger daycare places around & this place immediately had our trust. Many other places are just shuffling large amount of dogs in & you worry yours could get missed (or even hurt because of the dog to person ratio) - I don't get that feel here either! They also put our dog (25lbs when she started) in with the big dogs because of her big personality - they seemed really in tune with the dogs - other daycares placed dogs solely on size - which isn't always appropriate!! All and all - were very happy to have found a place we can trust!

I love dogs, but Planet Bark is truly run by "dog people" who take it to the next level. They really have gotten to know my dog "as a person" and give him tons of personalized attention, starting with greeting him warmly when he hits the door. When we have a boarding visit they take the time to ask about his routine and do extra things to cheer him up like adding cheese or other treats to his food to make sure he eats when we're away. They've been instrumental in helping to socialize my dog and make him comfortable around other dogs. I can't imagine bringing my dogs anywhere else for daycare or boarding.
