They have one dollar cookies on weekdays and they were very yummy. There are usually several options and then I just order one of each to try. Their peanut butter cookie option is usually delicious! The cookies can be quite small though. They don't have decaf iced coffee but have a delicious fruit tea option. It is one of the only coffee shops on that block so a good place to stop in for a quick breakfast or snack. They don't have too much seating so it seems more like a place to pick up coffee or food and take it to go. There is never usually a wait which is great. I was alittle bit nervous about the recent so-so reviews about GB but it was snowing in the morning and many places didn't appear to be open. I had my heart set on Gordon Savory but it didn't look like it was open either, even though it was passed 8:00am. GB was open for business on this mini-blizzard day as it brightened the block with its bright lights peering through the glass and baristas working ferociously behind the counter. I doubled-parked my hooptie and went inside. The bakery selection looked pretty hypnotizing. Everything looks freshly baked. I experimented with a cranberry corn muffin which was perfectly delectable; cranberry bits was evenly distributed in the muffin with a hint of corn sweetness to tease your taste buds. My second visit here resulted in me getting a chocolate chip cookie for my kid and a cherry almond muffin to start my day. Excitement came over me as I left work and got on the bus to go to The Good Batch and try one of their ice cream sandwiches. The food is good but I rarely received satisfactory customer service from this place. However today was the last straw. I was the last person in line. The customer ahead of me had her dog with her. After serving that customer, the server proceeded to pet and play with the customer's dog. I mean all-in, bent down to the dog's level both hands all up in the dog's fur. Without washing their hands, the server proceeded to take and make my order (a latte). After I noticed the server had no intention of washing their hands, I stopped them midway and cancelled. LOVE! I've only been to The Good Batch twice, yet both times I've noticed that I've contemplated moving my bed and all my home items in and never leaving. A small but spacious little shop, with clean and bright decor. They have 4 marble tables (who doesn't love a clean marbled table for those perfect flat-lays am I right?? ) & a lot of bench space, plus two benches for outdoor seating. Their menu changes every so often, with the season, however some of their classic items stay. If you're looking for that perfect treat to satisfy your sweet tooth, please, look no further. I find that nothing here is overly sweet, which is just the way I like it, everything has some type of ingredient that counterbalances the sweetness whether it be salt or tart berries or olive oil, etc. They also have Vegan and Gluten Free options, which is always helpful. I'm not either but no reason you can't have it anyhow. I've eaten a strawberry olive oil cake a few months back along with their ice cream sammies, which were THE BEST I've ever had. Yes, thats right, you are missing out if you don't get em. I ordered the crispy ice cream sandwich and the goodwich, both unique and incredible. I also tried some type of magic bar last time but I forgot the name, also scrumptious. Today I picked up their pumpkin bread which was vegan, and it was so darn good. Found this coffee shop just walking in the neighborhood. It was super cute and cozy. I ordered a Hot Chocolate and asked for whip cream but the barista (Daniel) informed me they didn't have any. I was in the store on the day renaming of St. James Pl to Christopher Wallace way in ode to Biggie smalls that grew up in the area and caught wind of some Lowkey racist commentary from the male owner to one of the staff working that day. I really enjoy this local spot and their new creamery is awesome! They have ice cream sandwiches that can be found in the grocery stores around the area and they have both the creamery and the cafe across the street from each other. My first visit here I came around opening when they offered free ice cream and it was to die for. Perfect blend of creamy chocolate brownie and caramel. I am drooling just thinking about it later. My second visit I snagged a ice cream sandwich that was good but I didn't love it as much. I had hoped the caramel would be a gooey kind but it was hard and more bitter almost tasting like coffee. I am not a coffee drinker so it wasn't the type of dessert I was hoping for. The ice cream was good however I just think I picked the wrong flavor for my taste. Crunch was good with pieces of peanuts, but kinda disappointed there wasn't much PB flavor. - Spicy chocolate: vegan. Ha a hint of heat, but nothing that burns your tongue. I think it's more of a cocoa flavor bc not much sugar or sweetness comes through. - Brown butter cookie: bf loved this the most. Definitely had an added depth of flavor from the browned butter than your average shortbread cookie. - Ginger molasses: only a hint of spiciness. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS PLACE! I came here after work around 6pm specifically to try out their ice cream sandwiches. I don't remember all the options that were available then, but there were probably 5-6 flavors to choose from. I ended up going with the mini vanilla nutella ice cream sandwich. Everything about this was PERFECT. The cookie is soft enough to break off easily, the ice cream has the perfect texture where you can get a clean bite without it melting out the sides. I came in from Kansas City to celebrate my daughter Molly's birthday with her, and I needed a birthday cake same day. I went in to The Good Batch and was immediately greeted with a huge smile and "What can I get for you?" The gentleman behind the counter listened to my "need it now" issue, and he showed me a chocolate cake they had amidst the amazing looking cookies in their showcase. Unfortunately Molly is not a big chocolate fan, so I had to turn that one's down. He then offered to run back to the bakery area to just see if they had anything else. He returned with the most incredible looking sea salt/caramel cake!! He even said they could write on it for Molly, which only took about 5 minutes! I was waiting on my mom at the nail place across the street and decided to get a treat. This place has a cute little set up. I saw there was an afternoon special on cookies for $1. So I decided to go take a look. I chose a vegan oatmeal coconut cookie. The cookie was a decent size (diameter) and pretty thick in width. The cookie was firm but soft. It didnt crumble. I do think it was a bit sweet but after all it is a cookie. They also provide you with water. There were many other dessert options. I do agree with another reader. The person at the counter didnt make this place feel homely or inviting. She seemed almost annoyed that I just bought a cookie, which is a lot considering i dont like dessert foods. Yaaaaas! I used to work at Umami Burger, and we would get our ice cream sandwiches from the Good Batch. They're all pretty solid, but my favorite was the Crispy (caramelly rice Krispy treats with vanilla ice cream). I stopped working there and they stopped selling them after a while, so I was afraid I wouldn't be able to have them again. I WAS WRONG. We had dinner nearby, and decided to come here for dessert. I automatically went for the Crispy - didn't even look at any other baked good here. I can't speak to their cookies or other things, but definitely go for their ice cream sandwiches! I made The Good Batch my satellite office while spending 10 days in New York. I was on vacation but needed to get some work done and TGB had coffee, wifi, and snacks so it was the obvious choice for a space to set up shop. The service was really good and the staff very friendly and helpful with my indecisiveness when it came to bakery options. I ended up getting a piece of passion fruit cake they had on display and wasn't disappointed. The cake was very moist and fresh with just the right amount of passion fruit filling to add a sweet, but not overwhelming, kick. They make really good coffee (my go to is an iced americano) I just wish they had slightly larger sizes available. I would go through two-three drinks if I stayed there for a couple hours. They don't have a restroom available up front but I did see them allow someone to go use the one in the back when they requested (which was nice to see considering the amount of coffee folks were consuming). Although there is limited seating inside, they do have free wifi available so if you can find a spot its a nice place to get some work done. They also have a large selection of mini ice cream sandwiches which were awesome. Great place to check out if you're in the area. read more

In this neighborhood, I feel as though if you're going to open up a business, especially something as whimsical as this little bakery/cafe, you've really got to hit your marks. The Good Batch hit like......zero marks. The customer service wasn't bad, but wasn't anything special. The spot itself was adorable..... so that leaves one thing to have an issue with.... the baked goods themselves. The cupcake was so dry it was like the consistency of cornbread, and the frosting was hard. I also got a pistachio profiterole... the whole thing tasted like when you get a bad pistachio... kinda bitter and rotten. I'm not sure if they use pistachio paste or whole pistachios... either way it was pretty much inedible. Lastly I got a macaroon sandwich thing. It wasn't that good but was definitely the best out of the three. The coconut part was good, the chocolate center tasted like those artificial candy melts. I think it's important to share this review, as this place is pretty pricey. I've walked by them many times, but they always seem to run out of the very thing I want to eat that particular day (which means they run out of ice cream sandwiches by a certain time so try to get there early). Ordered myself a Goodwich for $6 and it was very delicious. The cookies themselves are quite good (very sugary) and the ice cream sandwiched in-between is okay. Technically, the oat in the Goodwich makes it healthy. That's my belief and I'm sticking with it. Don't try to change my mind.The thing is HUGE.
