I've been wanting to check this place out and finally got a chance to. The woman working there was so friendly and beautiful and welcoming, my 6 year old daughter Luna didn't want to leave her alone ‍. I loved the store layout and how all the merch was displayed. I found a cute top and Luna found a treasure chest near the fitting rooms--everything in there was only $5-inside I found a cute belt, another top and a teal beanie that Luna loved so 4 pcs for $40! I wanted to look around more, but my child was in dire need of a nap lol. I highly recommend checking this place out, they have very unique high-end pieces for very reasonable prices. This store contains mostly dingy junky worn out clothing. Very poor treatment of customers and even worse treatment of consigners. Kim, the owner owed me $90 for items sold in her store. After a couple of months, I went to pick up my check and she told me to wait longer as she had more of my items to sell. I waited a few more months. When I called her to make arrangements to pick up my check, she said I "waited too long" and she refused to give me my money. Instead of mailing my check to me, she kept my money and would only give me a credit for the $90 to be used exclusively in her store. That is outrageous! Not only did she make $90 on her share of my items, she made another $45 on the items I was forced to purchase in her store. read more

The owner of this thrift store requires you to sign a contract that stipulates, "Funds and consignments that are not picked up within 2 weeks after the term of your consignment period become the property of The Golden Hangar." Now, it is industry standard that if a client's clothing does not sell that they pick it up, right quick too, or they get to donate it or dispose of it. I mean, of course. Otherwise she would be selling rabbit fur coats in June. It is NOT industry standard to keep your client's pay out if you do not return within two weeks, even if you have the receipt. Think of any pawn shop. Lose your ticket and you are up the creek but if you have your ticket and they sold your item- you get your money. I honestly think most shops selling stolen hub caps, guns, and vape have a fairer system going on than this proprietress. Think about the little scam she has going in there. Clients drop off clothing. She sets up some unreasonable hurdles. They don't get paid. She sells free product. Pretty good gig, don't you think? How's it work? By stipulating: 1. A two week window. And then.... 2. When you come in during this two week window you can only deal with the owner. I came in with my receipt. I was sent away because the owner was not in and "only the owner cashes out". So then, if you exceed your window, she offers you store credit ONLY. So now you not only gave her free product to sell, you actually pay her for someone else's free product before you leave. I mean if I wasn't pissed. I might be impressed. Honestly, I often have a kind of slant eyed respect for a good con, but this woman speaks to people with a haughty high handedness that makes me want to scurry away to fetch her frozen grapes and a rice paper fan. What truly irks me is there is some kind of rehab facility nearby. Across the corner from her store is a little plaza that quite a feel people that are down on their luck with obvious addiction issues pass their time. The idea of her sitting in that store like a spider really irks me. I reported her to the better business bureau. I stipulated that I don't even want my money. I want her to eliminate her two week time constraint OR allow any employee to pay out her clients. The combination of the two is fraud. If you live on the North Shore of Massachusetts do yourself a favor and stay out of her lair. read more

AWESOME PRODUCT, AWESOME SERVICE I went in to the Golden Hanger looking for jewelry for my wife for Christmas. The owner Kim greeted me right away and after I explained what I was looking for immediately started helping me look over what she had. As if by fate, she showed me a pair of blue vintage cloisonné butterfly earrings that were perfect for my wife (her favorite color is blue and she has a butterfly tattoo on her back)... they looked very special. What a great find! Then she showed me a necklace that had a gorgeous pendant that I knew my wife would love, but I could tell the silver wire band wouldn't fit my wife's neck. So Kim pulled out a measuring tape and ribbon and started looking through her chains and measuring them to see if we could find one that would hold the pendant. When she couldn't find one, she got on the phone with a jewelry store down the street for me and determined that they could provide the missing piece. Amazing service! I love when a store helps you look outside to other places, just to make sure you get what you need. I left with the most wonderful haul of really beautiful, truly unique earrings and a necklace for my wife. She's going to LOVE it all! read more

I've been in here several times and I come here often, since several times I found some really cute items... they have tons of really nice women's shoes, lot's of beautiful dresses from casual to very formal, even wedding and prom dresses The Prices are great on most items, not too often some seem a little bit too high for my budget, but these are the high end designers that cost a little more, as they should , but the prices drop the longer an item remains on the racks, so, the deals are always fantastic no matter what. The staff is wonderful. They're always pleasant and very friendly, and since this shop is down the road from me, it's always nice to drop in whenever I have a few extra bucks, because they always have new and different items on the racks. The clothing is gently used, often like new, and sometimes is new with tags. This is not your bottom of the barrel thrift store, they're a quality consignment shop and offer alot more than clothing, like jewelry, accessories, scarfs and lots of designer label handbags. read more

Five stars for the Golden Hanger! Amazing pieces at incredibly fair prices, great service, and an overall wonderful experience. I've picked up a full-length rabbit and suede coat for $40, and today I snagged mint condition -- dust bags, box, everything -- Louboutins for $250! The owner worked at Neiman Marcus for years, so her clientele includes some people who's trash is most definitely my treasure. Her experience also means she knows what she's dealing with, prices accordingly, and the high-end pieces in her shop are all in fantastic condition. I could not have had a better experience. Sometimes someone dropped off some nice things but mostly very dated stuff or cheap modern stuff that is overpriced. I used to like this store and the owner very much..that is until I did consignment with her. First off, I had purchased thousands of dollars at her store, but I could always tell she was encouraging me to buy more than I could afford. Kim seemed altruistic, but I found that I was wrong. I consigned some gold Jewelry with her and I kept asking when she was going to put it out in her display case. There was always an excuse as to why she had not done it yet. I found myself in desperate need of money and went into her store asking for my Jewelry back because I found someone who wanted to purchase from me....which after 3 months was still not displayed in her case. She became very dismissive and unkind. She tried to convince me that she has had no time to put it out, then she tried to tell me I already picked the items up. I have the paperwork provingI brought them into her, but she is not admitting that she actually still has my items. It is extremely rare that I write a bad review, but this situation was very upsetting to me. I am a disabled woman who has run into some serious hardship. I honestly just needed money to buy myself some food. It's very sad that she would rather see me not be able to purchase groceries ...instead of admitting she is in the wrong. I live within walking distance of the Golden Hanger and in my opinion it is the best out of the local consignment shops (of which there are quite a few). It is one of the few consignment shops that sells formal wear at a reasonable price and I am often impressed by the items they have consigned. It is difficult for me to leave without buying something, because they feature both name brands and more obscure brands, all at reasonable prices. I am a very particular shopper and I have purchased items from this store, and always been glad for it! I have gotten numerous compliments on a vintage Bebe tracksuit that I purchased, in excellent condition and at a great price! The staff is excellent as far as consignment stores go. They are friendly, prompt and professional and let me browse the store at ease. I am currently searching for wedding attire and I let them know that there would be times that I would be coming in and not purchasing but looking for the right item because of the significance of the event. Unlike some boutiques, I have never been pressured to close a sale, been ignored, or laughed at. The staff always provides friendly service and is knowledgeable regarding the value of the items that they sell (not always the case in consignment stores!). The store is consistently clean, cataloged carefully and organized. This is an important observation to note, and it tells me that the business and its employees value the items that they sell and have a solid understanding of the industry and the customer's time. It can sometimes be difficult to go to a consignment store where the clothes, which often have value to the people who cosign the to the store are not cared for properly or organized thoughtfully. On this note, it is nice that often times the history of the garment and its previous ownership comes up, which is important because a fair share of the clothing garments they sell where undoubtedly of great value to the original owners. They have a great selection of designer wedding dresses and fur coats for example. The displays in the windows are switched in and out regularly and arranged artfully, a pleasant aesthetic that matches the old-style graphics of the Golden Hanger's signage. It is an enjoyable experience just passing the store and gazing at the items that they are displaying in their window. At one point there was a unique cashmere dress with beautiful hand beading that was on display, it must of sold but it is the type of unique, top notch item that one finds at a location such as this. I have been to a lot of consignment stores in my years, because have an interest in vintage/retro styles and frugality (former art student over here!! ) and I would rate rate this one the best in terms of overall experience and quality of merchandise. It was one of the first stores I went into after moving from the metro west area a few years ago and is one of many of the stores in Beverly Center that I regard highly. OMG. I have a few designer pieces that I don't wear and would like to sell. Was told they only take designer no fakes( " We only sell real stuff never a fake I was told") and it has to be current in style. I am in search for a very specific designer bag and stopped by at the store yesterday, what did I find a FAKE LOUIS VUITTON duffle bag. They selling it for $125. 1. It's illegal to sell fake purses. 2. I can't believe store that takes pride in selling" high end designer only" will take a fake and put it on their shelf. read more

I have been wanting to go into this store for quite some time... I stopped into the store today. I am uncertain of whether or not the woman who was working at the store owned the shop but she was beyond rude. I felt like I was on totally hidden video, seriously! She barely acknowledged me when I walked into the store. She was sitting behind a desk and acted as if I came into her office and wasn't invited in!!!! No kidding.. I asked if I could smell some perfume, I did NOT want to spray it.. I made that clear but she went on the attack immediately and stated that I could not spray it because that wasn't fair for me to ask that.. It was behind the counter, I was being courteous by asking her in a respectful way if she could simply show it to me...I never asked her to spray it!!!! As I was standing there another woman walked in to ask about consigning. She was so rude to her as well. I can't understand people who are in retail that really don't like customers. I hope the owner gets to read this and perhaps find someone that is going to help grow your business not make people want to RUN far away!!!!!! read more

i was recently in beverly and stopped by the golden hanger. glad i did!! you could purchase a pair of prada shoes or grab something from their $2 bin. i like the fact that everything was arranged by size - not color. the pricing was great. some of the items - as they sit on the shelf longer - go down on price. this is clearly listed on the price tags. the owner was friendly and offered me a deeper discount on a scarf i was going to buy. gotta love that! i will shop at the golden hanger again! read more

There are not enough positive things I could say about The Golden Hanger. Each time I visit I feel like their favorite customer. This shopper feels like a "special guest" every time. The staff are kind and instinctively seem to know customer service. That said, kindly park nicely on the street, please don't run over anyone while doing so, and bring your best manners with you (in addition to your wallet; it's worth it). The $2 treasure chest is real. It contains "fashion gold" or maybe "silver". Their inventory isn't all teeny, tiny sizes, either. Have you ever been drawn to a shop by way of a wrong turn or just fate? Well that's how I found myself in The Golden Hanger. After being in the store a few minutes and making my way towards the back I was accosted by compliments. A lovely Marilyn behind the counter ( the owners mom) was loving my purple jacket. She had purple toes n nails and I fell under her spell. I told them what I as looking for .. A vintage fur to fit a more curvaceous frame. Kim was happy to oblige. And then I found the perfect red peep toe Me Too shoes. All while Kim said "hey I have aTiffany bean ring that matches your necklace". I knew I was in trouble when I saw the Louis Vuitton. I mean seriously I felt like a Hollywood housewife but at a much more bourgeoisie price point. Kim made my dream come true of owning a Louis Vuitton. To some that may sound materialistic but if you follow fashion and quality well here's to all you lucky shoppers. Kim's place is full of wishes come true to a fashionista on a budget. I find the owner to be pleasant and helpful but often times she is not there and her mother runs the store and she is abraisive and rude and just not pleasant which keeps me from going back here and keeps me from wanting to consign my items here. read more

I usually enjoy second hand stores since I'm a penny pincher. But if your looking for a good price for USED clothing, do not come here! They were charging high prices for blouses and dresses and pretty much anything on a rack. Some of the shoes looked like they've seen their last days. Way over priced for something with someone else's foot stains. The selection looked like it was geared towards someone in their 60's. Everything had a stale smell to it. Oh and the sales people were terribly rude to me and my mother. I got an attitude because I walked in with my stroller. My baby is just an infant and was sleeping. So I brought it in with me. And there was plenty of space for it in the store. The woman had the nerve to tell me I should've left it outside. Plus they gave us terrible snotty attitudes because we had coffees. Both drinks in the cup holder of the stroller. She insisted on taking them and putting them on the counter with paper towels under them. One woman pretty much stood behind me breathing down my neck every 2 seconds to make sure I wasn't stealing. I guess I don't look like their typical clientele. Sorry if I don't look 80 and I don't wear designer labels. We bought nothing that day since we were pretty much shoved out the door 5 minutes after we walked in. I don't understand what the snotty stuck up attitudes were about but they should loose it if they want to make more money selling old ladies used crap. We won't be back. read more

The women are exceptionally nice when you are purchasing items from their store. However are short and condescending on the phone. I recently consigned there and after placing my items on the counter the women who I thought was helping me pushed my items and myself out of the way with no explanation or apology to help another customer. I had to wait almost 20 minutes after my appointment time to be helped. Not good business, not sure I'd consign with them again. read more

The owner Kim is very friendly, has a great sense of style and what works for your type. She carries everything from thre most basic to some knock out designer pieces.
