After years of hearing about BB, I finally made it this summer. If you don't live nearby, the hours are *inconvenient*, to say the least, but it's worth planning a trip up to Beverly just to come here and hang out downtown while you're at it. (No car? No excuse...BB is steps from the Beverly Depot stop on the Newburyport/Rockport line.) As far as clothes go, you'll find something for everyone, and with the 50% of tags of a certain color off at any given time, you'll find some bargains, too. I found an awesome fall-weight Esprit jacket for $2. Big ups to the Beverly Farms ladies who keep this placed stocked with donated posh fashions. The furniture and housewares section is also surprisingly well-stocked and clean. If you live nearby and are looking to fill out a new house or apartment, I'd stop by BB before committing to purchasing something (shudders) new. read more

Very disappointing. Used to love this store. Vast majority of the clothing in the regular section was in meager shape and very outdated. All clothes and shoes that were in decent condition, regardless of brand name were in the boutique section for $20 or more- the section formerly reserved for high end clothes only. I feel this does a great disservice to the community Bootstraps claims to serve- those in need. The community they serve also need clothes in decent condition for work- the new set up makes this unfeasible. The jewelry and housewares are also overpriced for the quality. Though I understand fully the need for revenue to keep the store alive, I think the current approach is off base for the mission of the company. read more

Love coming here, donating and helping support Bootstraps- they do a lot for the families in our community and the thrifting is pretty good! Staff is wonderful, especially the kid with the big hair. Don't really understand the recent store makeover- it makes it harder to see things in quite a few of the areas and isn't as inviting as it once was- love that they're incorporating local artisans though! read more

This place used to be good but it's now a confused mess. It's a thrift store not a high end boutique. Somewhere along the line, somebody forgot. Was there a recent change in management? 2 Stars but would have been 0 if not for the food pantry. read more

Been here a couple of times now and their stock is quality, curated but not to the point of anything being over priced. More reasonable than the chain thrift store. The sales staff are SUPER very patient and nice. love this! read more

I am giving 5 stars for the managers handling of a difficult customer today. She was causing a disturbance and calling the employees names. I would have called the police but he managed to encourage her out the door. Working in retail can be very difficult and a customer like that can rattle your whole day. As for bootstraps I like to stop in occasionally. It is always neat and friendly. Today I got just the right lamp I needed. read more

I really should give this a 2 star review but they do help charities so that's good. My complaint is that the clothing used to be more plentiful and loads of selection and choice. Now it is sparse and expensive, no real sales, no interesting stuff no bathroom no parking kind of just Meh now used to be fun and loaded with interesting finds now just pricier and no real joy in the treasures here oh well read more

Bootstraps is a true gem. About 90% of my wardrobe, all of my furniture and jewelry, and about 60% of my houseware comes from this store. Inexpensive, high quality items always, and employee and volunteer working conditions are excellent, unlike Savers which is a modern day sweatshop at best. The profits go directly back into the community and the services they provide, which are as extensive as they are laudable. You won't find a better outfit than Beverly Bootstraps. read more

There are no words to describe how much I love this store. Every single time I go I find something totally fabulous. I have not yet purchased any furniture but they do have some spectacular finds. Aside from the fact that they have incredible deals on items that are once in a lifetime treasures, the people that work there are super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend a trip!!!! read more

I've always loved going here to get furniture, great find especially if ya trying to make ends. However lately their prices for furniture have sky rocketed. And I noticed they're marking wood furnitures with " antique ". I understand that the proceeds there goes back to the community, but 200$ something and up for a bench that looks like it's about to fall apart ,is bonkers, especially when everything is donated. Edit****** Other then that they have great condition furniture. Some might need a little t l c! Wide selection on house wares, lighting, some random household items; blankets, rugs, yards of fabric, etc They also have designer sections for clothes. They have kids, men's , and women's! Ohhh and jewelries, watches. Swing by for hidden gems. Staff are wicked friendly, they're all volunteers I think. Give this place a chance! If you follow them they have sales once in awhile. It's a hit and miss with this place. But definitely worth going. read more

It's been great having Bootstraps in Beverly! Each time I've gone in there, I have found great deals and the staff has always been very helpful, asking me if there is anything they can assist me with. Most of the time I'm looking for a specific item, and they are quick to help me locate it, or they have offered to set something aside for me if an item comes in that fits my criteria. I especially love the fact that they're a community thrift store, and all donations are made to help the less fortunate. I think anything we can do to help make Beverly a better place to live and do business in deserves a 5 star rank~ Thanks Bootstraps for helping your community inside AND outside your store, keep up the good work! read more

You never know what you can find in this gem of a shop. Always go through store slowly and look in the nooks and crannies.

Good place to get cheap stuff especially for the college students in the area. Not the world's greatest thrift store but far from the worst. The staff is friendly and the store is pretty clean. read more

I'm giving 1 star based on lack of customer service. I have dealt with lack luster customer service in BB before, but yesterday's was noteworthy. My husband and I asked about purchasing the chair and other furniture that was in the process of being "staged" in the window. We inquired about it (we would have purchased 3 pieces of furniture from that display) and were told that they "might" be available in 2 weeks. Now, I understand marketing, and I understand the value of making a nice window display- but I don't understand a non-profit thrift store refusing sales to maintain some kind of curated look. Instead, why not be flexible and swap out other items that may not be selling as fast, and style them so that people can better see their value? I hope BB considers a more flexible and customer service focused approach going forward. People do not typically go to thrift shops to wait weeks for the possibility of something to be available. Please consider your consumer. Further- I wrote of my concerns on their FB page and they removed it. Again- please improve your customer service. I will find other chairs, of course- but the overall experience leaves a bad taste in my mouth. read more

What a great thrift shop! I shopped for baby clothes to fit a baby doll that I gave my foster granddaughter.

Clean, well organized, quality clothing, unbelievable deals, and helpful staff. You could ask no more of a thrift store.

I have been able to outfit my kids and myself in clothes that are beautiful and affordable here. Everything over $2 is 50% off during these tough times. Ocassionally yes, there is somebody working who is somewhat cranky, but who cares? Also a good boutique section, housewares, furniture. Very well organized. I come here weekly! read more

First off the only reason I put one star was because I could not put 0. At 12:18 on Sat I went to the door to walk in only to see someone waiting at the door turning potential customers away saying the store was closed. I almost walked away as well but i noticed the sign said open til 12:30 so I walked in. I wanted to take a quick look at the store and see if there was anything cool I could find. Right as I walked in I was told the store is closing. I told them I would be quick and continued to look around only to be told by another worker that I need to get in line or leave in a rude tone. I was going to buy a seinfeld salt and pepper set for $20 but I was so upset with the service that I left.I will never step foot in this store again. read more

They get tons of donations so fresh goods are constantly moving in (and out) of the shop. They even have a Free Stuff shelf with a variety of stuff when its been on the shelf too long! I've found a lot of good and useful things here that are a lot cheaper than getting it new at say, Walmart or Target. The last time I was there I noticed some of the older cashiers were rude sometimes, so watch out. read more

some one needed to write an authentic review about this place. the prices are insane, especially on vintage items. honest to god. (examples) $80 for an used baseball glove that sells/worth maybe around $15 broken guitar, cracked body and a broken neck $150 silver rings $15-20 that sell everywhere else for, I.e. eBay and actual thrift stores for around $7 to 8. ext... although, if you are looking for second hand socks and under ware, you might get an a bargain. read more
