I would give less than one stars if I could. Zero stars. This place takes anything decent and puts it in a separate blocked off section with ridiculous pricing. The entire store is priced higher than the items are online, and most are in worse condition. There is no saving here. An employee named Amanda C. was very rude just because I asked for the price of a book that didn't have a tag on it. She told me to ring up my other items and she'd meet me at the self checkout kiosk with the book. I said that I wanted to know how much it was before I decided whether or not to buy it. She looked at me like I was annoying her and gave me attitude when telling me the price. Don't go here there are better thrift stores with nicer employees. read more

My sister and I have come here a few times utilizing the 20% off coupons you get directly after donating. The lay out follows other Savers location but the abundance of options can vary. Organization isn't the best but I do still like to check it out every so often. Staff are usually friendly and parking is easy with plenty of spots. read more

This savers used to be ok. Now they price their stuff like it's some boutique vintage store. It's a rip off. If you're looking for a deal, don't go here. Also they are FOR profit but try very hard in their marketing to look otherwise. Don't donate money to them - they just claim it as a tax deductible donation. I was on a shopping g expedition to as many savers as I could visit in one day, looking for jackets or sweaters mostly. I enjoy spending less for better quality products because the economy is tight and savers always has great items, this was my second stop. This store is located in a highly trafficked parking lot with a lot of large known stores like market basket, job lots, Starbucks. This savers was garbage however. All of the clothes were yucky, really outdated, holes, peeling outer fabrics, and smelled rancid like vinegar. The store felt grungy and unkempt. Some lady and her rude daughter had two really fat ankle biter dogs in the store (right as the announcement stated no pets allowed except service dogs). The clientele here were interesting but the clothes felt really bad. Left without buying and won't be back. The other savers within 30 minutes drive have much better selection. read more

Needs better customer service. There's this grouchy old lady at the registers (short grey hair and she was wearing a peach shirt). I asked if they had any bags and she goes "well no does it look like we have the paper bags?" And I just stared at her blankly because I was dumbfounded, then she proceeded to tell me "we have reusable bags" and I look at her "okay where" she pointed in the opposite direction then walks away. Like you can't grab me one real quick. I didn't want to leave my purse in my cart and just walk away WHILE I was checking myself out. Like thanks. There was also this girl that got her ring stuck in the coin slot and she was obviously having anxiety about it and after they got it out and left, THE EMPLOYEES started talking about her and making jokes on how stupid people can be! Like I get it, it's late and you want to close but talk about customers in the back room not in front of other customers. Makes me not want to go here anymore. Afraid I'll have an off day and get made fun of by employees. Only two stars because I at least got some cool stuff. read more

The prices keep going up. And although they do allow exchanges, the lack of fitting rooms means I'm not going to buy something without knowing whether or not it fits. Started shopping here in 2017 and they are jacking up the prices for everything now, it shouldn't be like that because all of the stuff they have , was donated to the store. Gentle Giants out of Wilmington, Charlestown and Beverly, MA did an outstanding job for our 3000 sq. ft house. They packed and wrapped and they moved us out on time. This place honestly used to be really great, but now it's just an overpriced garage sale. Before, you could find really good clothing and items at really affordable prices and thrifting was actually worth it. Now, everything has gone up exponentially, they sell virtually worthless things like old sewing machines for exorbitant amounts "because they're antiques" (never mind the fact that there were 50,000 produced per year for forty years) and have adopted frankly pretty shady practices. I was there recently and noticed that they've started separating suits, selling pants and jackets separately; they've even started breaking up what are clearly sets of things, like a Nintendo Wii and its accessories, for separate (insanely high) prices. The worst part is being forced to use self checkout. So to recap - they get almost everything for free, have virtually no overhead, break up suits and other (very obviously) sets of items for an even greater profit, mark them at stupidly high prices, and then ask you to work without pay. Honestly, I'll probably keep going because there are occasionally really great finds, but the whole place and their practices just rub me the wrong way. By the way, Savers (as a corporation) not actually a charity, they've been sued over that. It's a $2,400,000,000 for-profit corporation which overall donates about 8% to actual charities. Yes, that's almost two and a half billion dollars in annual profit with 8% going to who they convince you you're donating to. read more

Even if you head in at the end of a busy weekend, there is something great. There's always great brands - J Jill, Talbots, etc. Some designer gems like a gorgeous Trina Turk dress. Always well maintained shelves and racks. Friendly staff. Great deals. Oh, and always some Vera Bradley for your friends and family who may collect it. lol I can totally understand why other reviewers were kinda "skeeved" from going inside thie place. It's not a stretch to imagine that around every corner might possibly be a sleeping, homeless person. But, as they say in the hood, IT IS WHAT IIIIIS. When you go to Savers, you're going there to SAVE, not be pampered, or eat, or lie on the ground, so they're not focused on cleanliness which makes it seem less artificial. But, think "Salvation Army" or "Morgan Memorial/Goodwill"... it just has that feel to it except a tiny bit ickier. I took some pictures that I'll upload in a minute so you can see what it's like inside. You might see some people in them, too. Most of them walk around in a semi-dazed, "Night of the Living Dead"-style manner, like people wandering the halls of a mental institution. I'M NOT KIDDING. I just walked around snapping photos with my Iphone and no one seemed to care. I didn't want to stay to check prices, but I'm sure you can get some really inexpensive crafty stuff in here if you're a crafty, knick-knacks kind of person. But get this: 1. They sell books and DVDS; yet they are flanked by GOTBOOKS which specializes in dirt cheap books by the bazillions; and DVDs by the mazillions; 2. They sell lots of cheap stuff, in general, yet they are flanked by Ocean State Job Lots which specializes in tons of cheap stuff, so why "Savers" opened here might have more to do with trying to syphon off traffic from their neighbors advertising efforts than it does with them having anything of significantly better value to sell. 3. The only two sections I thought had serious potential in Savers were: a) The games/puzzles section; (see pics) b) ornate pillow section; (see pics) Savers is worth a one-time walkthrough just to see if you can salvage something from there but, otherwise, GotBooks, Ocean State Job Lot, Salvation Army and Morgan Memorial/Goodwill have 'em absolutely beat. read more

I never leave reviews for anything but feel compelled to do so. I enjoyed shopping here for years and always find great things. I drop a good amount of money every time I do shop here. The employee who works here "Susanna" is obnoxious. I mistakenly scanned a $5 off $10 coupon when I spent $50. I had a save 20 percent off of $40 coupon I wanted to use instead since that was a better deal. She said "I don't need this right now I am trying to close." The time was 8:30 they close at 9:00. She also complained about me saying I am taking up the machine when she is trying to close the store and I was "wasting everyone's time". She did this in front of everyone in the store. She had to void my transaction that is all she had to do. I work retail myself hate to get anyone in trouble but I feel she should not be talking to customers in this manner. Needless to say I will not be shopping here anymore because of this rude obnoxious employee. read more

My 87 year old mother and I were treated to one of the WORST retail experiences that we have ever had, today, at Savers. Ineptitude, rudeness and demonstrations of emotional volatility all raised to a new art form! The manager was sweet, but ineffective. She asked for help from a colleague, who "knows more than I do" per the manager. This young woman was not only incapable of helping, but was demontrably rude to my mother...while suffering through this clown show, we were treated to the arrival of "Marquise" (sp?) who was rude to both of us, repeated himself incessantly and was pedantic, at best. When I asked what was at issue (this was during the check-out process) I was told, by each of these persons that "I don't know..." But Marquise did qualify his curt remarks with a snide suggestion to my mother "If you get charged twice, you let ME know...." What a treat, disgusting CS and a roving pile of antisocial personality disorder....aka Marquise...YUCK! read more

I used to shop here every single week but due to their ever increasing prices, declining quality of merchandise, filthiness of store and ever changing policies on what is exchangeable I will not be spending my money here anymore. They don't even tell you until you waste your money! Not fair and no reason for it! That's one of the only reasons I ever preferred them to other thrift stores. Now they won't get my money anymore for their garbage. They don't even contribute to charity anymore and are a multinational corporation that I regret giving so much of my donations to thinking they were a charity. I know that it will seem silly to review a second-hand store at 4 stars, but really, this is a great place for second-hand goods. I was there a couple of weeks ago, and maybe they've cleaned up since they first opened, but I was not grossed out at all. I went looking for maternity clothes, because I feel that buying maternity clothes new is pretty much a waste. I found a TON of great stuff, all at very reasonable rates. All of the clothes were very clean and some even still had the tags on them! I found items from Target, Old Navy, Motherhood Maternity, Gap Maternity, etc. It was a decent variety, and I will be going back. The prices were very reasonable - $6 or $7 for pants and $5 - $7 for tops. Compare that to the $20 - $60 I would have paid new, and I think I got quite a good deal. Additionally, I went to check out the jeans section, you know, for October, after I've lost the baby weight, and in my size alone, there were a TON of jeans options. They were organized by size, but not perfectly. Every non-designer brand you could imagine was represented. They were all in good shape, and if you're willing to dig, I am sure you could find a pair that you love. All for well under $15. I saw some of the higher-priced jeans at about $12 and the lower-priced jeans at $8. I know that some people have problems with second-hand goods. If you are that type of person, then you really shouldn't come here. It is not for you. Also, I agree with Geoff, they shouldn't offer second-hand underwear. That's just gross. It is for the person that has an afternoon to kill, is willing to wear second-hand clothing and is willing to search for a good buy. Granted, you may be able to find these items on the clearance rack at Kohl's, Target or Old Navy for the same (or even lower) prices. It looked like kids' and mens' clothes had potential, as well. I would not recommend going to furniture, as the selection was very slim when I visited. Of course, it's always hit-or-miss with this type of place, but The Salvation Army in Saugus has a much better furniture selection. Note, they take donations and they claim that most profit goes to a local charity (Big Brother Big Sister Foundation, according to the website). But, they are a company, not a non-profit. read more

I wish I lived closer!!!!!! I frequent the W. Rox Savers but it is gross, items are often dirty, partially broken and/or falling apart. Also, W. Rox is much more expensive (for inferior goods...) Okay, I admit. I LOVE Saver's...and even though I'm giving the Danvers location two stars, I KNOW that I WILL be back. I usually come to this store about once/twice a month. I've waited to leave a review until I've come here a handful of times, and I just cannot give this location more than two stars. Most of the time when I come here it's around 7:30-8:30 at night and usually there's 3 or more employees yelling across the store and generally just goofing off with each other. I don't know...it just makes me really uncomfortable, like i feel as though I'm in their way or something?? Hope that makes sense. The prices here also seem more expensive than the location in Saugus which is about 15 minutes away. Examples: 12.99 for a USED toddler track jacket, 3.99 for a USED Carter's Child of Mine onesie (the Walmart brand of Carter's FYI). Whoever is pricing the children's shoes has NO idea how much they sell for on resale sites or other secondhand stores. I also was gonna buy a pair of Vans for myself until I looked at the price tag- 24.99- I can get them BRAND NEW and on sale for that price. Savers needs to start getting real on their prices or they are going to lose a lot of business. read more

I love this place. I don't shop here for clothing as others do. Instead, I seek photo albums, books, DVDs and furniture. Sometimes shoes. Savers is a pretty cool place, and the employees are fine. I've never had a problem. I have to say though that people tend to let their children roam free, and it gets to the point where i find myself stepping carefully over little hands far too often. Stuff is cheap. Duh. But it's finding soemthing you've been searching for forever for cheap that makes any visit worthwhile. I've found some incredible items. I love the photo section, where you can buy really nice frames for $2 instead of the regular retail $10 (seriously, $10 for a 4"x6" frame? Who does that?) I especially love the statue section. You can find the most horrifying, scarring, racist, sickest stuff there. I've never bought any, and never will. You need to go and see to believe these things. There's your homework assignment: go to Savers and tell me what treasures you find there. For you hoarders out there, Savers of Danvers will take your unwanted stuff. As long as it's clean and in good condition, they will take clothing, toys, books, DVDs/VHS, lamps, furniture, sport equipment, shoes, yarn, etc... I've donated like three tons of stuff, and I love that there's a good place that will take it and not just toss it. I've seen my own shoes and furniture there multiple times. Why won't anyone buy my coffee stained junk? Seriously, though, Savers is cool. I look for any reason to go there. In the past I'd have given Savers 5 stars but not anymore. It's always been dirty but that was okay with me so long as the prices were cheap and I occasionally found a decent deal. Sadly I haven't found a really good deal here in awhile. Some of the staff are pleasant and others... the exact opposite of pleasant. I really dislike being called guuuurrrrrl and there is one employee that insists on calling me guuuurrrrrl every time she rings me up. It's not sassy or fun it's annoying. Many idiots leave their children unattended playing with the toys in the back of the store. I dunno, perhaps the store should put up signs suggesting people don't do that, but jesus I've seen at least one of the registered sex offenders from Beverly in Savers. Back in college my buddies and I would go to the local Savers over in New Bedford (stay classy!) for Halloween costume ideas, but eventually we found it to be a place to buy hilariously outdated t-shirts and sports jerseys, as well as odd toys, drinkware and such. It was a pretty awesome place for college kids with a little bit of cash flow. I am sad to say that the Danvers Savers is nothing like that. It's pretty small, the selection is weak, just a lot of promotional t-shirts from local stores from what I can tell. It just lacks that funny "charm" that the New Beffah location had. read more

Yes, five stars it is. I got a Craftmans power sander here new in the box for under $13.00 bucks because I had a $3 off coupon. The best part was that I had been looking for a power sander, but I was holding off because decent ones are pricey. When I saw the price I could not believe, it felt like theft. I have also found a STX Lacrosse stick, a fancy rolling bag, and awesome pair of mesh puma sneakers all or $10.00 or less here. Lately the prices have been very high considering all items are donated plus this is a for profit enterprise. They do donate to some non-profits but if you do any research you'll see it is a very small fraction of what they take in. Also, the donation punch cards used to give you incremental 5% discounts for each hole punched, up to 30%. Now the card is not worth anything until you punch all 6 holes. Also, the card expires in 3 months rather than being good until the end of the year. Double whammy to the consumer. I'll be looking for other places to donate and shop. read more

After moving to the North Shore I was somber that I would no longer be a few minutes drive to the Nashua Savers- when I found out there was a Danvers location, I had to check it out that night! I went on a hunt for sweaters, although I only ended up buying one as they were a bit pricier than I remembered Nashua being ($6.99 for the majority). Still an awesome deal! When I walked by the furniture and luggage section I couldn't help but spot a large faux leather suitcase in great condition. $5? Yep, it's coming home. What I did notice, though, was that the jean selection seemed small. I don't believe I saw any for smaller sizes. Obviously, stock changes based on what gets donated, and it's at no fault of the store. Still overall a great location, I'll definitely be back! read more

I enjoy a good thrift store. I am a graduate student so money is always tight. I'm also conscious of how fast fashion affects our planet and used clothes really make a difference. I went in for the Labor Day sale and I got a bunch of great workout cloths, some jeans, and a dress. You need to go in with nothing in mind- I wanted long sleeve shirts for the fall!! Oh Savers, I love that you have SO MUCH to choose from and that your sizes are (generally) in order, and you have new stuff all the time. I have hit the jackpot here many many times, so I can't justify giving less than two stars. However - there is NO EXCUSE for the complete lack of competence (and often flat out rudeness) of your staff! I don't expect much, it's a thrift store and a chain and I'm sure your employees don't get paid enough to care, but it's pretty terrible and I could give more examples than there is space to write here. The employees make you feel like you're a nuisance and you're in their way. Nearly every time I've been here an employee has butted in where I'm browsing, not to hang just one or two things, but a whole rack of them, pushing hangers toward me, sometimes asking me to MOVE!Today I had an employee give me a dirty look and shake her head at me because she had to go around my shopping cart with her huge cart of things to put away. There is a woman who manages the fitting rooms sometimes, usually on Tuesdays, and I know this because I go a lot and every other day you can walk right in to the fitting room without having to deal with her, but if you go on a Tuesday she will ask YOU if there are price tags on the things you have. Sorry, that's your job lady, I don't get paid to tag or check for tags. This same lady once yelled at me through the dressing room door when I had brought a cart in because my toddler was happily sitting in it. Apparently you are not allowed, under any circumstances, to take a cart in to the fitting room, but there are no signs saying so. The check out process is longer than it should be and often the employees will try to have an awkward conversation with you about something or, even worse, they'll be yelling over the customers talking to each other about what they did last night or something like that. The people working the check out will also put up a CLOSED sign at random intervals and walk away, even if there is a very long line at their register and only one other register open. One more thing I must add - the prices used to be fair, sometimes great! It's all USED, some very used with holes and tears and stains so buyer beware, but their pricing is now inconsistent and sometimes ridiculous. You will find a brand new high end shirt for $2.99 next to a very used Target brand one priced higher then it costs new at Target. More often than not they're asking WAY too much.
