Beware!!!! In process of small claims court! Owner Emily Stewart came to my home and collected a total of 24 bags of clothing under a Business relationship! She then proceeded to tell me that after sifting through the clothing, only four totes were able to be processed through her store. She then donated the rest of my clothes WITHOUT my consent and then told me the rest of the clothes would not be profitable. I asked her to return what was left. What I received was 2 bags of the 24 that left my home and none of the most valuable items. ! She stole from me! If leaving consignment items, the owner not the friendliest nor gives you time when taking your items. She sells them for pennies tbh. And seems what I drop off is less than what's sold but items I don't see in store to take back. I dropped off a good amount of great items and got $27? Seriously? And because of the unfriendliest feel like you're bothering her, you don't even want to inquire about getting items back. It's enjoyable as a buyer as prices fair but consigned, nah. The female sole proprietor (Amy) is insulting rude and disagreeable . she does not allow any questions about why she is not accepting your items. If you ask a question her face gets distorted and she becomes rude and insulting The young woman with the black hair is very nice polite and helpful. When I first came into the store, it was nice, had a decent selection of non-clothing items. No real treasures though, so if you're looking for that, don't bother here. I was an employee at this store for several months, minimum wage of course, but was asked to do things outside of the job description, such as walking the owners dog, running errands for her, dropping off unsold and unclaimed items to the Salvation Army. I did them because I'm a nice person and honestly needed the job at the time. Fast forward a month or two, I was told they no longer needed me anymore because I didn't risk my life to come in during a blizzard (called to let them know, but of course no answer). the owner was a jerk he was swearing at me and called me trouble and told me to leave. I was asking about something I gave to him to sell and when I asked if it sold he got rude with his language. He sells your items on Facebook and not in the store and you don't get anything back if you give ten on your sheet your lucky to see 2 sold. He likes to take advantage of older women and scam them. Missing 3 pairs of very slightly used name brand shoes that I cannot believe we're not sold. I cannot prove anything so I will chuck it to experience. Next time I will drop off one or two at a time so you can track whether it has been sold or not. This is a nice shop with items from multiple sellers. Items come in fairly regularly - no extreme deals but often some very good niche items. I've picked up some nice kitchen items, and an inexpensive wooden dresser that someone had repainted red from them (this later was around $60 to $75 at the time). I like what I've found there and the people running the place are friendly. It's not a huge shop and it may not have what you are looking for, but it's worth a look as often it surprises me with what it has. read more

Main Street Consignment & Thrift, open your bathroom when a customer requests to use it!!. Did you know: it is a $100 fine in Massachusetts if you don't open your bathroom for someone suffering from any sort of chronic/bowel disorder. No one should have to get graphic about their needs, if they are asking to use the bathroom, then they need to use it and you should be understanding of that. Someday someone is going to leave you a nice little present in your dressing room and you'll wish you opened the bathroom door!! read more

What I love about this place is that it is huge and full of great quality items, not junk. It is also clean and not cluttered. Plenty of parking in the parking lot. They consign 50/50 unlike some other shops that are now doing 40/60...shady, i know... They have everything: jewelry, books, clothes (not outdated), furniture, misc. housewares, dvd's, cd's, some small antique items in glass cases, sports/trading cards, old postcards (protected in plastic sleeves!). A good amount of items were new with tags/in box and most everything was in like-new condition. It has been open since May 2009. Nice store, neatly arranged and fairly priced. Mostly non-clothes items, which I like. This isn't the type of store where you will find a hidden treasure though. First off, read all the reviews for this place before making the decision to go. That includes all the "HIDDEN" reviews, which are the more recent reviews, and not shockingly at all, they are 95% extremely negative. And consistent in what they say, and I agree with them completely. I've been stopping in here every so often for years, when I'm in the neighborhood. I can't help it, I'm a thriftaholic. But this place is seriously the pits and 100% it is because of the owner. She is rude, snooty, and just an overall toxic presence. Occasionally I will find something that I want here, but more often than not, I leave empty handed. A lot of knick-knacks and the clothes are mostly outdated and overpriced. I was in here the other day and I noticed yet again that the dark haired young lady who has worked here for years seems seriously afraid of her boss, and is always running around like a chicken without her head because I'm sure she's nervous coming to work everyday. I need to, and pledge to, take a permanent break from this store. I just no longer feel comfortable giving this owner a cent of my hard-earned money. I have been in thrift shops all over...including snooty shops in Winchester and in NH. I have never experienced one like this shop. Where do u people shop that you do not think this place is dirty!! To boot - it smells. Owners are rude...do they think they are running Hermes???? I also took top of the line stuff there...they refused most of my items but did take a blouse which they claimed they got $5.00 for....I got $2.50. A waste of time trying to trade there...you do better online. I have not been in that crappy store since but go by it alot and want to throw rocks at it!! I called last week to see what the procedure was for dropping off stuff as I had never done it. I believe I spoke with the owner and she said just to come in any time before 4 no appointment necessary. I asked what they take if only clothes. She told me that they also take household items and were only taking fall/winter stuff. I brought in 3 boxes of clothes..she looked at the top few items and told me that there is nothing she would take and held up a sheet and asked if I had one. I said no I called and they said just to bring the stuff in. She told me that it is donation stuff. I asked her if she looked thru the stuff and she said it isn't sorted and I'm not wasting my time. I told her noone told me to fill out a form or sort when I called. There are new with tags LL bean shirts, Columbia ski jacket, hollister, converse that she didn't bother to look at. I was bringing stuff back to my car and came back in and asked for my box and she told me she put it on the curb!! This was the owner I confirmed and she was extremely rude and basically told me no one would ever tell such things. As a potential CONSIGNER, the management is rude, condescending and snobby. I brought in some high end designer merchandise after discovering this shop and the owner RUDELY told me she was going to PASS. Excuse me? Her reasoning was that ONE item was a little dirty while the rest were PRISTINE. She also mentioned that there needed to be at least $50 in merchandise, so she wasn't interested. I had an authentic leather COACH BAG in the mix that was in great condition!! I have no idea how anyone who makes a living reselling other peoples discarded crap has the nerve to be such a snooty B*%$h! I left there with such a horrible taste in my mouth and had to take a moment to realize that without any consigners she will be making 50% of NOTHING. Also, the policy is that THEY set the prices. Sounds like a scam to me. I bet they put $10 price tags on high end merchandise, pay the consigner $5 and then sell it online for the price its worth. I will never, ever, ever step foot in there again. I think the worst part of this was her snooty attitude. As if she were the QUEEN of all things second hand. MAIN ST CONSIGNMENT & THRIFT -- As a consignor, I brought in 15 items. Labels included were Loft, Lucky Brand, Nautica, and other misc. labels. All 15 were rejected. The owner said they didn't need any more clothes. I did bring in a pair of hardly worn beige jeans that were Chaps which would make a nice staple for someone on a budget. She brushed me off with a snooty attitude and said they were from Kohls. I wouldn't mind if she (the owner) had high end clothing there, but she doesn't. In fact, what I saw was lesser nice things than what I brought in. I decided to go to another thrift store in a neighboring town and that owner was much more professional and took all but 2 items which was fair. The owner in the neighboring town had more high end items as well. This snooty attitude from this woman was not the first time I was on the receiving end of this from her. Who needs this treatment? Their clothing consignment is somewhat limited but each item is in great condition and well priced. I found many great pieces there and many more that I wanted to get! They've even got the accessories you need too like jewelry, belts, shoes, and purses. They've got a huge selection of DVDs, knick knacks and kids stuff. Also, the furniture peices ranged from vintage to conversation pieces to standard items. The store is so neat, not cluttered at all like most that I've visited. On my last visit there, I heard the owner talking about sports memorabilia. I'm not a huge collector but for those of you looking for that, this store might be worth a trip. read more

I have to tell you Joe the owner, helped me tremendously. After losing my Dad unexpectedly, who was a hoarder, I was given his name by a friend. I had been tasked with cleaning out a 2 family home packed to the gills with stuff. I didn't know where to begin, I was so overwhelmed with grief, living an hour away and family/job to take care of. Joe came to my Dad's with his truck and two team members and they carefully packed and inventoried the items. They were very respectful and asked what I wanted them to take and made sure I had approved anything before it went out the door. I was provided checks monthly and was able to cover the expenses incurred from cleaning out the rest of the house. I don't know what I would have done without their help. read more
