The store is very depressing, when I walk in and get looked like I'm a thief although I am far from that. The workers here (esp the older demographic are so rude). When trying to exchange a pair of shoes that didn't fit my daughter, they told me I couldn't bc they were too dirty??? Maam, they are USED like 90% of everything else in this place? The rest of them just seem miserable and unhelpful when asking for prices for items that do not have tags. I don't write negative reviews very often. However, I feel it is warranted and perhaps necessary after my experience at the Wilmington location over the weekend. This store needs a major overhaul. It felt dirty, disorganized, and extremely overcrowded while simultaneously having fewer good/quality items compared to other locations. The store layout is poorly designed and racks/shelves are not regularly maintained by employees (items thrown about, on the floor, obstructing aisles, etc.) making it very difficult to navigate the space and shop. Many aisles are too narrow, cramped, and crammed with stuff. Customers were getting frustrated with one another as no one was able to get by anyone else or really "shop." Perhaps my biggest complaint was how completely outrageous the prices were at this location. The prices in several sections/categories were ridiculously high and did not seem to reflect the overall demographic of shoppers at the location. I could not believe some of the prices I saw throughout the store - especially on jewelry, furniture, and items kept in the case. I have shopped at Savers for YEARS and am the first to acknowledge that their prices have gone up across the board. However, the pricing at this location was unlike anything I had seen at any other location - completely asinine and unwarranted (see photos). Especially when you take into account the fact that all items are donated for FREE these prices seemed GREEDY and unreasonable. It's one thing to see high ticket prices at a high end and curated shop. However, it is another thing to see these types of prices at a disorganized and unkept Savers location. I really hate to sound mean but I think this location desperately needs a visit from the higher-ups. If they want to continue asking the outrageous prices that they are, then they need to do some serious work to improve the store and enhance the overall shopping experience at this location. read more

I stopped by after work to drop off some bits and bobs, and while dropping off, i noticed a gorgeous wooden table that had been donated outside. I asked Rich if he knew roughly when it'd be on the store floors so I could hopefully come back to pick it up. low and behold he offered to price it up for me right then and there! i was so grateful ! he even managed to hitch it up inside my tiny sedan. he went above and beyond. now me and my gorgeous new drawing table are home safe and sound! On august 18th the rudest employee working behind the jewelry counter frightened my children, he was also rude gave us dirty looks, and walked away while i was asking to see a watch and seemed irritated by my presence, also trying to say we couldn't grab a shopping cart from outside the door while carrying a heavy electronic stereo, saying i had to walk out of the exit door where the registers are making it look like i stole the item and had to walk all the way around people just to get a carriage, and the next day i was told i couldn't pass my friend the keys to the car to put her items away while she was standing in the doorway and said that "it wasn't an exit" while two other people walked behind us and didn't say anything to them. I highly recommend this Savers! I had accidently donated a table, and by the time I contacted the store, it was already packed on the trailer for storage. The two female managers ( one was named Julie, and the other I'm unsure) were both extremely patient and helpful with getting it back for me. The prices here are disgusting, twice as high as the TJ Maxx across the street (where the clothes are NEW and they don't get them DONATED for FREE.) The pricers should be ashamed of themselves. I used to work production at a thrift store and I literally would've been fired if I priced things the way they do here; this location needs to replace its whole management and production team if this is how they work. Someone on the Nextdoor app also posted about finding a roach here... you can't be trying to sell SHEIN dresses for $75 while your back room is crawling with roaches. I am deeply appalled by how I was treated today at Saver's. I came in this afternoon to leave a bunch of items (binders, books, backpacks, shoes) in the Community Donation Center donation box at the entrance of the store. Since I had a lot of items to donate, I placed all of them into three separate disposable bags, and placed the bags into one big reusable tote bag for ease of carrying. After dropping the three disposable bags into the box, I left the store only to be stopped by an employee coming from the checkout who asked me if I took the tote bag I had in my hand from the donation box. I tried to kindly explain to her that the bag I was holding was just a container for the three bags I just donated but before I could finish, she tried to take the bag away from me. She then told me that "all donations need to be in a bag" which I obviously did; I even went back to the donation box to show her that my donations were in bags. She did not apologize or anything; I only received an half-hearted apology once I came back to the store a few minutes after to confront her. Her excuse was that there were people who would come into the store to steal the donations, but if the store was so worried about that, then: 1) why would you have a donation box at the entrance of the store that isn't being constantly surveilled by a worker? 2) why isn't the donation built in such a way that once you put something in the box, you won't be able to get it back, like a Salvation Army donation bin with a lock? I came to Savers with the intention of contributing out of goodwill, only to be wrongfully accused of theft (of a simple tote bag even, how dumb is that?). I'm hoping that my mistreatment wasn't due to my race, as such discrimination would be deeply disheartening and unacceptable. I've been living in Wilmington for the past eight years and often come to Saver's because they have great books at a low price, but I think that it will come to an end after today. read more

Many of the clothes for the high prices could be purchased new for the same price at Old Navy or Targrt. There are no true bargains here, perhaps, for used sporting items or decoration. What a fun and responsible place to shop. It's always surprising to walk around in savers and see what gently used things you can can find. Like other thrift stores it's like a treasure find game here, but based on the things I've found, it's closer to a consignment shop experience than a junk store. There are many high quality items & larger variety than other places. Recently, I wanted to decorate for a tea time themed quincena party so I visited and to my delight I found beautiful tea cup sets, extra tea pots, baskets and even a Louis 14 style armchair for the guest of honor. Usually though, I visit Savers to get denim clothing items for my kids: I can find the brands we like in great condition for a fraction of the price I would spend buying brand new and they definitely make it through the few months that my growing kids wear them. I appreciate that I can save a few bucks, I'm not creating more human waste and the kids look great. Savers is generally pretty organized and clean; although the bathrooms and fitting rooms could use a little TLC. True to their name, they have promotions every so often, plus a rewards system to save even more. I like that they offer seniors a discount one day each week. The only thing outside of the opportunities to tidy up, the only other thing that I don't love is that the donation center doesn't allow drops outside of business hours and even turns away certainly categories of items when they are full. Even though I'm not fond of these items, they are understandable, minor in nature & would never hinder me from visiting the store. read more

I went here with my wife, and the manager thought that the coat that she had taken off when she had come in was the stores coat. Telling her that she needed to pay for it. I had to show the manager that my wife was wearing the coat when she was walking in. And then we had taken photos in a completely different area with her wearing it. It was utterly ridiculous. When the Wilmington location first opened, it was a 5 Star thrift store. That's definitely not the case any longer. Want to find mall brands with holes and stains for way too much money? Mugs and dinnerware with cracks and chips? Shoes that reek of mildew? This is the place. Would you like to buy broken things, only to be told you can't even make an exchange because it's not a clothing item? Welcome! How about being sneered at and mocked by angsty Millennials when you ask to speak to the manager? I've got you covered. It's as if they think every other item is Gucci or Louis Vuitton. Savers, I have news for you...they aren't. Stick to being a thrift store with thrift store prices. Seriously, this location is grossly mismanaged, with criminal mark-ups, useless items being peddled for profit when they're donated to begin with (read: minimal overhead costs), and rude employees. I Love Savers, I dont know how else to put it, I just do. I have recently had weight loss surgery & I am flying through sizes like a crazy person and in my mind I cant spend that much money on clothes when Im only in them for weeks at a time. So I found Savers & OMG... I have been very lucky on several trips, I have been to all the Savers in the Eastern Mass, NH area over the last 6 months & this is one of the best ones. Everytime I go I get items that still have tags on them & are brand new. I have been very lucky in this store. Its clean, nice staff, never a crazy dressing room wait.. Just a good store with good finds (they are hit or miss I must admit) but I do like this Savers much better than others. read more

I feel like Michael Keaton in Mr. Mom "You're doing it wrong!", every time I attempt to donate here. Why must donating be so hard? The ever changing drop off rules along with that area being staffed maybe 50% of the time makes me want to throw my donations straight in the trash. Please put a self service donation bin in or around the front of the store. I'm tired of having to deal with the staff or lack thereof. As far as shopping, I find some decent things here... but it's pricey for a thrift store that gets all its inventory for free. I only shop when I have a coupon as many things are priced at or even above new. It's funny to see Dollar Tree items here for double what they're selling for next door. I am glad that they accept almost anything, as Goodwill and the Salvation Army can be picky to the point of being ungrateful. I have donated clothing, bedding, lamps and household items to Savers and I believe this organization is wonderful. However, I have seem used items for sale in Savers at prices that are compatible to new store items for the same price.The retail stores offer so many coupon incentives that many times they are the better deal. Your inventory appears to be abundant and it seems to me that if you want to move the inventory, you need to lower prices to clear it out. read more

It used to be a decent store. Now they put broken stuff on the shelves. And the price stuff like it's a goddamn antique shop. I don't think they remember what the term thrift store means. They overpriced junk in it sticks around forever so it's their weeks after I first see it. They should price the stuff to move meaning since they don't pay any money for the items they sell they should sell everything for a couple bucks each. Then obviously they would make more money. But no it is so mismanaged that they put crazy prices on everything then nobody buys it. Update 8/23/2020: I found a vintage comic book in mint condition which I thought was about a dollar and a half overpriced. Then I saw the Price sticker on the back rendering it completely worthless. It's just common sense vintage paper products like comic books newspapers magazines postcards you don't put a sticker on them stupid.And as far as COVID-19 pandemic, The Wilmington savers price gouging practices are alive and well. Savers - Comic - Thrift Stores Near Me - Wilmington, Massachusetts

I have been shopping at savers, goodwill and other thrift stores for several years. at Goodwill, Salvation Army, Habitat I do because it's for a good cause. At savers because I can find items hard to find these days (also at the other stores), but it's a publicly held, for-profit thrift store so I have mixed feelings about the concept. I have been inclined at stopping going to savers more recently, for two reasons: 1) their prices are way high compared to other thrift stores, 2) the savers near me, in Wilmington MA, has a very rude staff, who go above and beyond to make your shopping experience an unpleasant one, like they hate their jobs. From the guy who puts newly donated items away, to the guy who puts new items from the back to the front of the store, placing then at any empty spot. Except for clothes, all other items seem randomly placed on shelves. They could be selling more if buyers knew where to find what they are looking for. But the worst is the multiple employees kept in the front by the cash registers, not actually ringing each customers but doing it in a way, in the worst possible manner. I personally feel harassed when scanning items, with questions like: is this coat yours or ours, take it out of the cart and put it on so we know it's yours, did you scan this (pointing at something I just put back in the cart from the counter). They have random items placed in plastic bags and hung by the wall. Many of them have holes on it. I bought one that had, and the lady asked me if all items were already in it. She stayed next to me the whole time staring at every scan. This has happened several times. I hear the same from friends and family members. If Savers' policies require these employees to be this rigorous, why not just make all the 5 or so workers they have by the registers to actually scan, instead of being rude to customers. I have been a very good customer of the savers in Wilmington MA, but I don't need to shop and be disrespected. read more

Savers is a place I like to stop at occasionally to look for incredible bargains, because believe it or not, they always seem to impress me. I come up to Wilmington once per year for a full weekend, and always make a point to check out the area before I make the long trip home each night. Last year, I saw the "SAVERS COMING SOON" sign on this former Staples location, and was eager to come. So inadvertently, this year I stopped in. While the size of the store is large, and it is filled to the brim they are geared towards clothing. While every thrift store has a section of clothing, the section here was extremely large, and the sections of furniture, house goods, technology, books, board games and other stuff of that type were limited. I don't normally buy clothing from Savers because they normally look raggedy, old, and overused, but some of the stuff here actually wasn't bad. They had some newer stuff, some that didn't even look worn previously. Still prefer doing my shopping at Sears but others may find this place to be a goldmine for clothes. There were three registers open and each of the lines were increasingly getting longer. This place must be giving that musty Salvation Army down the road a run for it's money (that place is so disappointing). Overall, I like this Savers, but wish they opened up the furniture, house ware, and book sections. 4 stars. read more

I love every Savers. It's where I do the majority of my shopping. I have occasionally even bought shirts or pants that don't quite fit then had them tailored for $15, still much cheaper than buying new depending on the item. The Wilmington location is a good one, they seem to have a good sporting goods section in particular. read more

We moved to MA two days ago and had some things to donate. I called, told the person answering the phone what we had, and she said yes, they would accept these items. I asked how late they were open, she gave me good directions, and I said we'd be there in a few minutes. We arrived around 3:00, pulled up to the drop-off area, and it looked like a dump truck of household goods had just spewed stuff all over the sidewalk there. I called out several times at the door, and no one was there. Finally someone came through, and we started giving him our donations. He then told us they weren't taking any small furniture that day. Why? Because they only take it T-F. It was Monday. I said I called and was told to bring the things over. Nope. We went into the store, got the manager, and she told another worker to accept the item. We left again to get the car back up to the drop-off, and this second worker started yelling at me that, yeah, they'll take it, and now it's a fire hazard. What? How can a 2' tall metal drawer unit be a fire hazard, and what about the PILES of flammable goods all over the sidewalk and intake room? He was VERY rude, and the other worker wasn't any nicer. We will never donate here again, unfortunately. read more

This store has raised prices significantly. Items in furniture and electronics are not at all competitive with other thrift stores. Clothing prices are up as well. $18 for used jeans and 17 for a used shirt are just too high. Donations of good stuff and volume of shoppers down.
