Yikes! A lot changed since last time I was here…read more When you walk through the front door, you'll swear you're on the set of "Hoarders." There is stuff everywhere. You can barely make in through the aisles. I'm not sure what is available in the front room - if there isn't a giant stuffed animal blocking your view, there are boxes in the way. You want to see the jewelry in the front case. You can't. Too much junk in the way. If you make your way into the front side room, it is pretty tidy in there. That's where you'll find clothes, books, and puzzles. I checked the price of a paperback book - $2. Puzzles were between $2 and $5 (some new). If you make your way to the back room there is kitchenware and kids' toys. A used cheese grater that was originally $9 was marked $5. Too much for this cheapo. A vintage looking electrical appliance was $75. I don't know what is was, but that seems way too pricey for any small kitchen appliance. I was interested in some of the china, but it was packed in too tight with coffee cups ($2) dangling from hooks in front of them. Removing a plate would be like playing Jenga with glass blocks. They need to have a sale and get rid of some of the junk that is just in the way. People can't buy things if they can't see them. Do like other thrift stores and figure out a way to identify how long something has been on the store floor, and then automatically drop the price after a month or whatever. I know you want to make as much as you can for the charity, but if people can't see what you're selling, they won't buy it. If you price it too high for your clientele, it won't sell either. You can't raise money for the charity by just hoarding stuff! I do want to point out that the women who work here are very nice!

A friend suggested this trip because she is searching for inexpensive, antique looking jewelry to incorporate into her wedding theme. I did some research and suggested the flea market in Lawrence, since it is open Saturdays as well as Sundays. We met for lunch in Methuen, which is a bit of a drive for each of us, and then made our way to Lawrence. The flea market building was relatively easy to find based on the pictures posted on their website. There was a dollar entrance fee, which I sincerely hope goes toward a worthy case. The flea market was a huge disappointment and not at all what we expected. Aside from a handful of unique booths (if you consider incense and beanie babies unique), the whole building was covered in knockoff purses, cheap jewelry, and random electronic devices. Not sure who thought a sane person would pay $2 for a VHS tape, but those items were alive and well. We walked around every booth at least twice, but left empty handed. Even if I wanted to buy a fake Coach wallet for $5, how could anyone deal with an inside zipper that doesn't open or close?! I hope to see what else the New England flea market scene has to offer. For someone who drove out of their way, the Lawrence flea market was a waste of time. Hopefully there are better days ahead because it can be a great experience.

We recently visited this shop after anxiously waiting to after friends visited early fall. They raved about their experience while visiting. They said they were made to feel wonderfully comfortable as if at home. Despite being a second hand store, they said they were treated to personal touches offered in high end boutiques. I wish we could say the same but can not. It was a frustrating experience after our long drive from Rhode Island. Novices should research products and know fair prices before buying. There are certainly some unique pieces but mostly carry glassware, primitive tools and clothing. I believe this is a consignment store which might explain the erratic pricing. I don't believe they offer discounts. I am certain they do not for seniors. However, there is mention of a shoppers reward program in fine print on the receipt. Some merchandise is marked reasonably low, which is always nice. Other items were priced unrealistically high. Most of what interested us was not price marked at all. We eventually stopped asking because we felt bothersome. Also, they seemed to gauge our level of interest and knowledge before offering a price. It has the essence of a used car sale. We were told the staff are very personable, extremely helpful and highly knowledgeable. Our expectations were for a completely different experience. The man who works there tied up our time by talking. Far too much. As a result we got a parking ticket. I understand his eagerness to share his "knowledge" had not twice informed him we are versed on the specifics of that item and wanted to continue to browse, while were becoming short on time. It was difficult to disengage as he obnoxiously continued to spew half accurate facts in his attempt to educate us. The store is very dirty. Not messy but dirty. They clearly don't practice covid safety sanitation nor cleaning in general for that matter. Some areas were neat and tidy but it's mostly disorganized and uncategorized The smell of the store was unbearable. It smelt of stale cigarette smoke and sewage. . They did offer the chance to try on clothing in the toilet room wth the glass windowed door. We contemplated it but decided to pass. The store is located in a questionable neighborhood. I later learned there is a nearby recovery shelter which explains reason for the addicts loitering around the building. A couple of which seemed to be well acquainted with a worker hung around inside the store by the register and didnt appear to be shopping. It was an uncomfortable situation as we were paying with cash. Overall, it was not a complete waste of a trip. We did find a few unique collectibles for a fair price. They do carry some great finds if you allow yourself time to search. It's a deceivingly large maze of a store with multiple rooms. I would recommend this store for its merchandise but I give it zero stars for our overall experience. We always trust our friend's recommendations and unsure how we had two entirely different opinion. My hope is that we caught them on an day. We later learned there are many antique and vintage shoppes in the vicinity. It's worth a visit if you are in the area or passing through. We would not plan a trip with this store as our destination again.
