I usually love shopping here. I brouse when I'm in town. I was in earlier this week, shopping at all of the new Fall Arrivals. And I overheard the employees talking very poorly about a consigner and the clothes they brought in It broke my heart for the poor person thinking they were going to have a positive experience consigning their clothes ( which were pretty nice I may add )!! I talked to my friend who lives in Andover, as I'm retired and don't live there anymore and she said this is a recurring pattern according to other consigners. Just a bunch of female employees who gossip as soon as the consigners leave. Why are you talking about the people who are giving you your livelihood?? It's not only rude but unnessacary. Like another comment mentions, this is not Rodeo Drive. It's a consignment store. Be nicer humans!! Ugh read more

Consigners Beware! I believe their "contract" is not exactly legitimate. i will never consign there again nor will I ever shop there .

I absolutely love this place! The staff are so nice and helpful. The owner May is very accessible as well. They will help you get that special piece you're looking for! From $10 to Thousands for a rare Chanel purse, they've got it all! I've been redoing my wardrobe over thanks to Chic Boutique! They also do 3 shopping videos a week which you can buy the items! Good place to shop, but not to consign. I decided to write this review after reading the others and wanted to add another perspective. I've come here as a shopper and (mostly) consignor. As a shopper, I always found the staff friendly and gracious. The shop is well organized, though as one person said, most of the interesting stuff is a size 0. They sell only women's clothes, and strive towards the high end. While they have lots of Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, and Eileen Fisher, the Chanel - Prada - Burberry and other lux designers is what's out front. Clearly this is where one gets the bigger discounts (relatively). They have good sales too. I got a great Theory dress for $9! As with any consignment store, it's hit or miss, but I feel they do a good job trying to have goodies at every price point. As a consignor, I've been disappointed. Their practice of a 60 (them)/40 (you) split on each sale is standard, but they have a policy of retaining all items priced under $50 that don't sell. I find that to be a non-competitive practice. The rationale is that they have 4,000 consignors and cannot dedicate the manpower to tracking down unsold merchandise to give back. Ok, I understand, but don't make me take a loss because my item didn't sell. Come up with a win-win solution. I have found through experience that most of my clothing and jewelry doesn't sell, and that in the end, I loose more than I gain. My losses include brands like Lululemon, which has stellar resale value everywhere. Given that there are plenty of resale options out there, including places like Material World where you mail in and get paid upfront, or The Real Real where you get 55% of each sale, it's good to spend some time considering the right fit for your items. To illustrate, I recently picked up a bunch of unsold clothing from Chic, sent them to Material World, and was immediately compensated a bit more for those items than if they had sold at Chic at full price. And they were off-season to boot! Simple and quick, they way it should be. While I like Chic and would leave the door open to consign with them in the future, I will be extremely judicious as to what items I bring in. read more

So...My family has been coming here for a while...My family has also spent alot of money here...Taking into account it has become a sort of tradition to go out for breakfast then stop here every Saturday afternoon. Needless to say we have purchased as expensive as a pair of Chanel Heels for $400 to as low as a vintage pair of heels for $29. The prices aren't that low for a consignment shop but bring $40 and you can find a Banana Republic shirt. The purses are OVERPRICED as I can get a Michael Kors brand New in the outlet for $40 bucks less that this place offers them in a used condition. We have enjoyed coming here until the situation below... A Saturday afternoon, We were in the store and they all know who we are as we are loyal customers and we go a lot...I had my 3 year old son with me and my daughter. All of sudden my son needs to use the bathroom...So I kindly ask one of the girls if I can use a restroom...She looks at me and says there is a bathroom 3 streets down at Starbucks or Brueggers Bagels (Mind you this is New England and it is 25-30 degree weather)...I then tell her "oh! It is not for me it is for my 3 year old son" she then says "ummm, I am sorry there is not one here"...So I ask her if she has to use the bathroom at Starbucks too when she needs to go, she just walks away. I go up to the front desk and ask again because it is for my 3 year old and they do not have the same stamina to hold on as an adult, The lady then says I am sorry we cannot let him use the bathroom... HOW CANT YOU LET A 3 YEAR OLD USE YOUR RESTROOM?? I understand if it was for me, I can hold it...HOWEVER, FOR A 3YEAR OLD SON OF A LOYAL CUSOTMER YOUMAKE A CONSESSION AND YOU HAVE A MANAGER TAKE THEM BACK TO THE RESTROOM WAIT FOR THEM THERE AND BRING THEM BACK! I completely understand the need to watch all of your inventory in the back but this is why a MANAGER would escort a customer back. In this case, They were not helpful at all and I had to take my son elsewhere. I was very irate at this point. I returned to meet the rest of my family and told them the situation...Needless to say we will not be spending any of our hard earned $$ here any longer...Good Luck with that place if you or your children need the restroom. Soooooo pretentious and ridiculously overpriced! The kids employed there have zero work ethic and seem to think they're working in a Beverly Hills boutique instead of a USED clothing store. Slide off your side-saddles and learn how to treat customers before you lose them all. read more

Sooooo..... I went here not too long ago to see the newly renovated space. It is a lot larger, and is well layed out. They even have a little resident dog there! I think it belongs to the owner. Anyways, I browsed around quickly as I had some time on my hands after running errands in the area. I saw some nice jewelries there, but definitely priced higher than expected. Higher than what one would find on ebay. The store definitely has some great selection from all sorts of labels and well organized, but the place could use better pricing points. Stuff is used, prices are not very comparable. They carry men's apparel, which is a plus since a lot of consignment shops do not carry men's. From what the employee said, it's still a struggling area as it is not expected in these shops. I dropped one more star for lack of greeting in the store, and lack of interest from some of the employees. lol ... one of them was more interested with her hair and clothes as she stared at herself in the mirror touching her hair and looking at her outfit. Ok, I did find it funny to see this, but at the same time, it showed me that they were bored and/or more into their self. Great storefront, great selection, not so great prices, and not so great customer intereaction :/ ... it really could have been a tough long day, but this is the retail business... where customer satisfaction is a key to driving success in that field! Maybe next time, I will stop in on a weekend to see if the other employees are more on top of their stuff working with their clientele! :) read more

I have come here a couple times and every time as a customer and not a consigner. They always have a great amount of options at all different prices. They have everything from shoes to prom dresses to purses. Everyone is always very nice to me when I go there. Their $10 rack sales are always awesome as well. The only thing I wish was that since it is a consignment store, the prices for more high end items would go down a bit more. That is the only complaint though. Wide range of sizes and prices! Would definitely recommend!! read more

I stopped in today and I believe the woman I spoke to was an assistant manager. Within our short conversation I think she looked me up and down 5 times like I was something she scraped off her shoe. Seriously honey, you're not on Rodeo Drive, you're selling other people's used clothes. Get over yourself. read more

I have both purchased from Chic Consignment and I am a consigner. The items I have purchased were wonderful. Chic takes great care to deliver quality and designer products. As a consigner, I have had a great experience. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Chic gives back to the community by having many charity events. I am sad that I did not know about this place sooner. I feel like I've wasted 2 years of potentially amazing buys! Can you say never used Cole Haan leather bag for $68.Still had the new leather smell. Tiffany ring for $78, Tons of Coach bags. Half off the sale items. Amazing Designer selection and amazing quality stuff; everything looks brand new and never worn. There were a number of items that had original tags- so they were brand new. Overall great place: so fun, friendly, amazing barely if ever worn labels for dirt cheap. I'm in love. read more

Went in to consign some (very nice, expensive clothing) and the deranged, housewife store associate immediately began berating us about how the clothes need to be on separate hangers (the slacks we had were on a multi-hanger) and that "we don't accept some of these labels" (L.L Bean, chico's, Dior, Dolce). And that "inventory is just too high for us to accept black slacks". She just didn't like how WE looked in the store and wanted us out as soon as possible. Never going back again. read more

I have been going to this boutique since it was in it's original smaller space and it just keeps getting better!! I recently purchased a virtually brand new Coach bag, gorgeous black pebble leather for $80! Then I grabbed a new wallet for $23 with the $95 price tag and it is the best wallet I have ever found!! I have also consigned several items there and the process has been painless....drop off the item and then just pick up the check! The staff is always friendly and more than accommodating with any questions, suggestions or opinions on how an item fits or accessory looks. Great shop!!! read more

Chic Consignment is the ultimate shopping experience. There is something for everyone and the staff is knowledgable, friendly, and give true feedback while shopping. This is not your typical consignment shop where you'll find grandma's old sweaters. I've purchased things from H&M to free people but have also seen brands like Chanel and Burberry. The nice thing is is that you not only get all types of clothing/brand names (including shoes, active wear, and accessories) for a fraction of their typical retail price, you get to try them on, feel them, check the fit, all the things you can't do online shopping. Do yourself a favor and stop by on your next girls weekend or if you're looking for THE dress for that occasion. You won't be disappointed! read more

The shop itself was lovely. It looked more like an upscale boutique than a consignment shop, but I'm guessing that's because it's located in downtown Andover surrounded by boutiques. Unfortunately, there was an air of snobbery displayed by both the employees and the patrons. I felt like I was shopping in Gucci not a consignment store. I would neither return nor recommend, unless saving money on designer duds outweighs an unpleasant shopping experience. read more

Would appreciate friendlier customer service since they do offer a wonderful selection of high-end everything, from bags to shoes, and everything in between. I've spent hundreds there, and truthfully expected more from them in regards to friendlier service over the phone. I called to ask about a product, which I was planning to pay for over the phone, and was shocked with the briefness of the associate who answered. I felt like I was being bothersome by keeping them on the phone and they were too busy to speak to me. Instead of realizing I was about to make $400 purchase and inquiring on how they could further assist me, they cut the conversation short and told me to have a great day. The owner, Lisa, is much friendlier. I would hope she'd want employees that are at her level of professionalism. My advice, don't bother calling about something online, you'll have better luck as a walk-in. Appreciating a loyal customer is very important in the business industry. If they didn't offer such a great selection (the reason I gave 3 stars instead of 2), I'd probably stop shopping there after that rude incident. However, I hope it does not happen again. read more

Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Not one associate even acknowledged my presence. I was planning on spending a decent amount of money there on some thrifted designer products but apparently if you aren't dripping in Gucci you aren't welcome. 10/10 wouldn't recommend. The selection of clothes and accessories is ok, but the customer service is awful! The owner was defensive and rude when I asked about consigning some items. There was a salesperson working on the computer at the time and all she said to me was "what do you want"? She never greeted me, smiled or looked up to acknowledge my presence. The prices are very expensive and not what you would normally find in a consignment store, even with designer brands. On the positive side, it was nice to find items with the tags still on that had never been worn. I felt uncomfortable walking in and was glad to leave. read more

I love consignment sort of shops, but wasn't completely wowed by this particular one. They did have a "large" selection of clothes for the most part. However, their prices weren't exactly reflective of being considered "used." I'm all about getting a great deal, so I'd rather get new items from 6pm.com instead of paying a similar price for used. Their bags were incredibly expensive, and lack a larger name selection. However the employee was nice and inviting and the store was well located. read more

I've consigned with them in the past. They are usually my last resort if I find that I am not having much luck selling my luxe items on ebay. The ladies here are friendly and enthusiastic and seem to love their job. Took a star off because I felt they priced my mint goods pretty unreasonable and feel I should have made more. Would continue to work with them though it's been awhile they sell pretty fast. They have a great selection of pieces for everyone and interior layout is beautifully well designed. read more

Love this place! May, the owner, has been hosting videos three times a week during the Covid-19 shut down. They have been three hours-ish a week where life almost seems normal. My sisters, cousins, and I watch and text each other on a group text. (Two sets of sisters, with Moms who were sisters.). We have all bought items at all ranges of pricing. May is really great at offering different price points including "aspirational" items for some of us. It's so much fun to see what people buy and to just see the wonderful artistic luxury items. Before the epidemic, I probably visited at least once a week when I was in the area. It's the kind of place you want to visit often to find those great surprise pieces. I got a Coach leather coat, a Lafeyette decorative leather coat, and lots of other amazing great quality items at very reasonable prices. I have a big walk-in closet in my apartment and now I love to just walk in there to look at some of the items I've purchased, even if I can't wear them out yet. Chic Consignment has reinvigorated my interest in fashion as an art. I used to love fashion when I was younger but had stopped paying much attention. Please support this small business! They have provided great customer service and strong community building during this difficult time. read more

DO NOT consign your stuff here!!!!! They underprice it and take 60% of the money earned. I consigned my $300 Lilly pulitzer dress there brand new worn once and just dry cleaned (which they made me do) and they only sold it for $67 and gave me $20 out of it. You're better off selling your stuff on postmark!!! read more

Since I actually live in Andover, I always drive by this place and see the wonderful window displays, but it wasn't until last week that I actually went inside to see if they had any nice potential prom dresses in my size. My friend actually bought hers there last year for an awesome price. I just looked around briefly because I didn't have much time, but I saw a great selection of everything ,especially designer jeans and bags. However, I didn't see any prom dresses that really spoke to me. But then I convinced my mom to come with me again today, just to check it out. So we looked through the formal dresses on the rack (there was this one short dress I LOVED but I didn't have an occasion to wear it to) but I didn't see any in my size that I liked. Then I turned around to look around the store and hanging next to Maggie (the nicest saleswoman!) at the counter I saw this gorgeous purple long dress. I immediately tried it on, and it was a perfect fit! When I looked at the tag I was super surprised that it was La Femme, which is a rather expensive brand (I actually liked a lot of their dresses, but they ranged from around $300-$500 - a little more than I was willing to spend). BUT they were selling this dress at only $75! Such a good deal! Just amazing. So of course my mom let me buy it on the spot, and I am beyond ecstatic with my purchase. Definitely a great place with shockingly low deals. And I hear they're expanding into the space next door while also starting to bring in different sections, like men's, children's, and furniture! I think they're opening around the beginning of April? I will definitely be returning! :) read more

Snobbish store sales people and they make you feel uncomfortable. I'd rather shop at saks fifth.

This is an awful consignment shop. why you ask? The retail staff is so rude to those bringing clothes in and to customers. I have been both. I have very expensive clothing I cannot wear. I went to the back of the store where one of the sales people asked to see my clothes. Oh no we cannot take this, that...on and on...Another retail person (with her nose in the air) came over and wouldn't you know...I thought I was with the Queen of Sheba...Now since I have been in outside sales...i know the value of customer service. I could not stand them anymore and said so. One of the staff helped me out to the car....while doing so...I said..."who trains you?"..."why do you act you are doing the customer a FAVOR?...ended it These gals do not make 300 dollars an hour..they are there because they have to work. Step off with the attitude. Their clothes are banana republic...j crew.. and way over priced. You are not getting a deal. I will never step foot in that terribly run consignment store..they should take a training like my idol store...Nordstroms..AWFUL AWFUL BEHAVIOR read more

I have been here a few times and it is a hit or miss. I purchased two theory blazers for under $20.00 each and they fit great. I've consigned here a few times and both times the service was fine. On seperate occasions when I've been browsing, I wasn't welcomed or treated as I would of liked. The ladies there seem to pick and choose who they want to be nice too which is a big turnoff. While I have enjoyed shopping here in the past, I was disappointed on my last visit to hear staff talking badly about some of their consigning customers. I wasn't even near where they were chatting and could still hear them venting about how someone came to drop of clothes without an appointment over the weekend and their items were not up to the stores' standards. ("if you are going to come on a Saturday, it better be gold...") Seriously?? Would seem that keeping customers and continued receipt of designer goods for consignment would be the most important thing to keep this store running.... won't work if your other customers can overhear this sort of chatter!! Will make me think twice about consigning or shopping here again. Snobs. read more

Just stopped in today for the second time. I had a horrible experience the first time, the owner, Lisa, and employees, were very snobby and treated me like I was trash, but I figured maybe this time would be a better experience. Boy, was I wrong. I waited for fifteen minutes at the counter while the owner and an employee talked with another costumer-- I don't understand why both of them had to assist this one costumer. After the woman in front of me left, both of them continued to talk to each other and ignore me. They were very rude. Horrible costumer service. It's snobby people like them who give Andover a bad name. I'm trying to spend money in your store and you act as if you are better than me. I would never go here again. read more

I shop at Chic Consignment regularly. I have to disagree with the comments about the girls who work there. Not only are they super professional and helpful but stylish and fun. The selection here is incredible and I have to say the prices are extremely cheap for what you are getting. A lot of items are new with tags. There is much better pricing on the higher end items than the lower! If you are looking for big names cheap, this is the store for you.The store presents beautifully and is clearly run by people who understand the retail business and appreciate the customers. I have never written a review before. I have to say that I am extremely disappointed. I brought in a Michael Kors purse for consignment. The women that helped me was great. She asked me how much I was looking to get out of this purse. The retail of the purse was $400.00. I told her I was looking to get $90.00 to $100.00 she told me no problem. She explained the price they would sell it at was $155.00. The way it was explained to me was the store took 40% so that would hit my range of what I was looking to get. I received an email that my purse had sold and I could pick up a check. I go into the store and have a check for $59.00. I asked for clarification she went out back. Then came back with my contract and said I must have misunderstood. When I told her that I will never be back and that I will not recommend them to any of my of my friends she proceeded to tell me to have a good weekend and walked away. I know how it was explained to me especially since the first lady I dealt with asked me what I wanted to get out of it. So if you go there make sure that you know exactly how much the store will be getting. After this experience I will not be going back nor will I recommend it to anyone. read more
