Great place to find real bargains, especially when they have sales. Sometimes their original prices are way too high - often, more than you can buy new at TJMaxx, etc.!! Also, shoes are often priced higher than you can buy new....but on sale they sometimes are a bargain. We used to shop at the Framingham Savers and their prices are much more reasonable! read more

Yes, make sure you examine the items carefully for cracks, breakage, stains, and so on. Check prices carefully since a lot IS overpriced --whoever prices stock does a poor job. Folks look for bargains and do NOT want to pay 95% of retail for used. Yes, dirty worn-out pair of shoes tagged $14.99 just because they are "Rockport." Also, Savers/Danvers no longer bags your purchased items unless you pay 10 cents per bag! Their policy is that they do NOT refund your money. You must put the return amount towards another purchase at the time you do the return. Return "returnable" items within 7 days. Today I returned a tagged sealed bag item that contained 2 shoetrees. After opening it at home, I saw that they were 2 left feet, which was NOT noted on the sealed bag. Since I had to make another purchase, I bought 2 other items. The longhaired male cashier (didn't get his name) gave me a lecture on why Savers is doing the right thing by charging for bags. That policy is not advertised anywhere in the store Remember, Savers is a FOR PROFIT organization and NOT A CHARITY. All their merchandise is DONATED. Saver's contribution to its charity partner is so NEGLIGIBLE that they will NOT divulge the percentage/amount even when you ask them [management] directly. For example, investigators found that in one state Savers gave less than 0.082% of revenue to its charity partner. You pay good money for donated items AND now you pay for the bag. No wonder Savers is aggressively expanding.They compete with longstanding NONPROFIT thrift stores that devote most of their revenue to the needy. According to trade journal Chain Store Guide Savers is one of the nation's 5th fastest growing retailer. After spending YEARS going to Salvation Army on Route 1 in Saugus, I have to say that "Sally's" is no longer an option: They lack the amount of jeans they used to carry; no longer have decent (if any) bedding items, and the prices have gone WAY UP on furniture. SAVERS, on the other hand, is GREAT! LOTS of clothing, in all sizes, but happily in larger sized jeans (YAY!) and for the reader in your life, they have tons of books. The prices are good for a THRIFT STORE, and while some are a bit higher than I would expect for used items, I am quite happy going here. Best buys: Books, clothes, nick-nacks, electronic cookware. This review is about working there not shopping there. My son recently worked here. He was fired for needing a week off for Boy Scout Camp. Yup.....they wouldn't let their employee get time off for Boy Scouts...... They asked him when he started working there if he did sports or had other time commitments, he told them then that he needed time off for summer camp and a couple of weekends when the scout troop went camping. He's the senior patrol leader and has to go on these trips. He has never missed a single day of work, never showed up late, never called in sick, left early if they didn't need him (to save money like Walmart does to their employees), stayed late when they asked him to, drove the manager to the bank when the manager's car was broken.....basically did everything right. So he tells them one month in advance that he needs a week off for summer camp and they say no you will have to quit! So they made him fill out a letter saying he would quit. I was wondering why they made him quit and then I figured it out, if they fired him he could collect umemployment, and some of the money for unemployment comes from them. Nice trick to play on a teenage kid who has done everything they asked of him. So I look up information about the company, it's run by a private equity investment guy, he's a wheeler-dealer real estate guy. Nice. Now I'm wondering just how much actually goes to charity and how much this guy is funneling off to do real estate deals......... read more

I went in here shortly after they opened. I won't be going back. The place was really, really dirty, and they sell used underwear. I feel like that's enough said, but I'm still not done. I had to give this 5 stars to bump up the overall rating! I think savers (comapred to other thrift stores) is clean and organized. The clothes are in the correct sizes and sometimes color co-ordinated. I don't find this at marshalls! I shop at savers to help the earth. I try to buy used clothes so that it cuts down on too much materialism in general. Great for my kids. THey all got "new" winter jackets for $5 each. They must have cleaned up their act because when I went recently the store was clean and orderly. I was impressed that everything is on a hanger, not just thrown into bins or jumbled all together. They even have dressing rooms and I agree that this location is way better than the West Roxbury one. The prices aren't dirt cheap, but fair for what you get. My boyfriend bought a designer dress shirt for $10, but it was brand new. He also bought a piece of crazy artwork for his office for $3.99!! read more

let me tell you......i love "savers" at the endicott plaza in danvers.....as a "big & tall" man, i have found brand new clothes for only a few bucks......jeans that would cost me around $50. bucks retail, i have found at "savers", brand new for $7. or $8. dollars. i have found beautiful, brand new mens' sweaters, long sleeve tee shirts and summer wear at big big discounts.....i found a brand new south - pole christmas sweater for $5.99. !!! the service at "savers" is good, i really dont need help with anything, but the employees' seem friendly and helpful....i will continue to be a loyal customer....... read more

I think that the folks calling the Danvers Saver "gross" or "dirty" have never been in another thrift store. Seriously, its not bad. It doesn't smell, and everything is organized and relatively cleanish. I don't shop there for clothing much, and their furniture selection is rather puny, but the linens and curtains are super organized and abundant. They also have a great selection of small home goods and decor. If you want to hit the strip mall of cheap goodness, head over to Danvers and visit Savers, the Job Lot, and A Shade Down all in one go. read more

I look forward to saving a buck time from time. I usually do my discount retail therapy in a Salvation Army or such but now I've discovered Savers. If I shop on a Tuesday I get 30 % off everything, this stuff is not junk and it's clean. I have had a couple minor issues and Managment was fast to respond in a professional and corrective manner. The profits go to many worthy factions from small grass roots organizations to helping out our Veterans. I came here for the first time and I have to admit, I like this place much more than Goodwill or Salvation Army. Although their furniture section is very small, their clothing selection is huge. I also like that they sort the clothing out by it's sizes, making it much easier to browse. Prices are very reasonable and with the various discounts they offer, the deals get better and better. I found the store to be very organized and clean. Salvation Army in Saugus is very dirty and they don't put size tags on their clothes, nor are locations marked by size. Prices aren't always very enticing. Disappointed to see the ORIGINAL tags on "new" items CHEAPER than the Savers price. I've frequently found [clothing & household] items at other stores [Marshall's, Target] CHEAPER, or not much more, than the same at Savers. Also found the SAME item next door [NEW] at Job Lots CHEAPER than the USED one I just saw at Savers! Who's doing the pricing? Obviously someone who doesn't know what stuff is worth or selling for elsewhere. Hey, these are donations. Folks shop Savers for a bargain. Get it? "Savers." Apparently not. Though this is probably one of the smallest Savers stores in this area, it's also one of the most unkempt. Check clothing for stains and damage. Merchandise tends to hang around for a long time. On one visit, there was a sweet chemical smell and strange residue on some merchandise (shoes). We were told it was bug spray. Nice to know they're taking precautions, eh? ... and that the "fragrance" you're inhaling is a pesticide! We've had better experiences shopping at other Savers stores and attribute this store's woes to the staff's lack of professionalism and very obvious lack of enthusiasm for their jobs. read more

This is not a review for Savers in general. I love Savers and my fiancé used to manage one. This is a review for this particular savers. We had a terrible experience recently. At another Savers the cashier gave us the coupon cards for spending x amount of money but only put one stamp on each card but with the receipt we could show we spent enough for all of the cards to be filled up. My fiancé spent a few hours going through clothes for my son and trying them on and then when she got to the checkout the cashier told her they would not honor the coupons and accused her of trying to "steal money" from them by trying to use them. She left the store and went to the original store (Saugus Savers) and they apologized for a bad experience at Danvers and gave her the discount with an extra 15% off for her trouble. Good customer service wins every time. Please remember that. And never accuse a customer of stealing. read more

Nothing out of the ordinary for a Savers. This is one of the smaller locations. Their shoe selection is small, on shelves alongside clothing racks. Like any other thrift store it's hit or miss. Nothing significantly negative to comment on that would keep me from returning. read more

After getting rejected from Salvation Army in Saugus for a van load of goods that was "too OLD" we called this Savers who said they would take it all! The employees seem happy and chat together (always a good thing that speaks volumes for management) and keep the store clean and organized. I've seen some of my donations nicely displayed and it makes me feel good to see them going to homes where they are wanted. The goods may be donated but the store has a hip vibe and the merchandise is definitely kept fresh. They are always inundated in new merchandise so they can cherry-pick the best to put out. I understand that this is a for-profit enterprise, but they figured out a way to make giving and buying fun with incentives for both (punch cards and sales). Good for you, Savers- keep it up! read more

I bought a delightfully hideous old suit jacket here for $10. I also bought a beautiful, pristine Ralph Lauren blazer for $10. Like all thrift stores, it is hit or miss. However, unlike most thrift stores, Savers had all jackets at least organized by small, medium, or large and had shirts organized by size. It's obviously a thrift store, but that should be obvious going in. It was nicer than I expected and exceeded my expectations. read more

Great location, plenty of parking. Wish I could go higher than 2 stars, but that's being generous. Never find anything at this Savers & the prices are high. The store is tiny & the pickings are slim. On my last trip I looked for organizational stuff & thought I was lucky to find large plastic storage containers (not Rubbermaid). They were quite beat up & the prices weren't much lower than what they sell for on sale elsewhere. Housewares, handbags, and shoes were equally disappointing. They shouldn't take in shoes in such poor condition & many of the brands were cheap (Old Navy, etc) to begin with. Lots of dated Liz Claiborne & plastic stuff in handbags. Wish they'd move to a larger store & improve the quality. Then again, I can just imagine the prices they'd charge. read more

I went to Savers on Thursday to buy blankets, sweatshirts, hats and mittens for some young homeless people who live in a tent. Earlier in the week, Savers gives a 30% discount, which would've helped me greatly since I'm on a very limited budget, myself. Because I live quite far away from this store and was driving even farther to deliver these items, I wasn't aware that I'd gone on the wrong day. I begged the manager to give me the discount even though I was there on the wrong day, and that I'd never ask again since I knew now which day to go to save money. The manager was too cheap to give me the 30% discount, and although I'm grateful for the 10% discount he did give me, I still feel that he could've done so much more. I don't think this guy has any heart for the homeless. I told them that I had lots of things to donate, but I won't EVER donate to this store now. I hope he never knows what it feels like to be homeless and have people turn their backs on him, but you know what they say about karma. read more

this store is terrible!!!!!! the staff " kids" working there are rude and not very helpful. the prices are ridiculous, they have gone way up since they opened. They used to have great items, jewelry ect. when they opened and now JUNK!! They get the stuff for free and mark it way up?? the stuff has to be filtered before it goes to the floor. I saw some workers hiding purses and shoes and then going back to get them at their lunch time break. , i saw them act so rude to an elderly person when trying to return something. They dont have any good jewelry anymore they must be taking it before it goes to the floor??? WOULD NOT GO BACK THERE AGAIN!! what kind of people do they hire there anyway???I am an elderly women trying to get some nice things for my grandchildren i wasnt treated very nice, I have scene them treat people rude in there, THE STORE IF FULL OF JUNK!!!!!
