The GOAT Tavern in Roanoke has a solid neighborhood tavern vibe and is an easy place to stop in, especially if you're solo. I came by on a Saturday around 1pm, sat at the bar, and one thing I genuinely loved was that it wasn't packed at all. Plenty of seats were available, and the atmosphere felt relaxed instead of hectic. *WARNING* Parking here is going to be a pain, but it's nothing the restaurant/bar can do, just be aware if you are not local and are prepared to deal with it. The bar has a handful of on-tap options and your basic mixed drink choices, so it checks the box if you're just looking for a straightforward drink with your meal. If you're coming in to watch a game, you're covered, plenty of TVs are mounted throughout the place so you can catch whatever sports event is on. Food-wise, it was a mixed bag. I started with the bottlecaps as an appetizer, but they lacked breading and flavor. It felt like they were just cut and flash-fried. I ended up putting them on my burger since the sauce was forgotten, and honestly they worked better as a "fix" than as a standalone appetizer. Big bonus points too for fresh-cut jalapeños in the appetize For the main, I ordered their signature "GOAT Burger," and the burger itself had a great taste. You can tell the patties are hand-made, which is a big plus for this area and really should be the standard. So thank you for making a burger the way it should be!! A couple things kept this from being a higher rating, and they feel like things that can improve with time: kitchen speed and quality checks before food goes out. My order was simple, one burger, and the sauce somehow didn't make it onto the burger at all. On a named/signature burger, that sauce is part of the point. Overall, I'll be back to try them again as they get the groove going. The foundation is there, and with a little more consistency in the kitchen, this could easily move up a star.

Well, let me tell you...THIS place is really nice. Mother's Day, my daughter and I visited another establishment, first, for celebratory Bloody Mary's, and it was cringy and more like watching paint dry, out come out drinks, which were horrific... We left after 1, and on the way home, stopped by The Goat, more out of curiosity, needless to say, THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Tiffany, the bartender, made awesome drinks, and had a wonderful personality! The establishment is new, nice, clean and inviting. We will be returning soon to check out the food, the bingo and the bands! 10/10

This place rocks! Food was fresh and delicious! Kelly the bartender was super nice. Love the vibe and all the tv's. Also very clean.

Love this new addition to Roanoke! Food was delicious and very fresh. Lots of tv's and great music in the background. Prices super reasonable and servers very friendly.

Food is good. Solid 8.5/10 bar food which is what I was looking for. Onion rings are 11/10. My issue is with mgmt and online ordering. Online ordering is via Slice. Email and text alerts stated food would be ready bw 739-754. I arrived at 7:40. Food wasn't ready; no problem. At 7:54 noticed a message that came in moments earlier stating my order was ready at 7:51. About that time the manager asked if I've been helped. I showed him the message saying the order was ready. His response, "oh that's through Slice; it will be a few minutes." Then walked away. For a new restaurant trying to get a foothold in a competitive area, I at least expected an apology. The server I initially spoke to (who was great) told me the kitchen was backed up and just got my order. Food was ready by 8:04. I guess they were in a rush to get it out and left a bun off my burger. If you order takeout, you may want to call in vs order online. I'm chalking this up to new restaurant hiccups. The food is good enough to return. I'll update the review if they remedy online ordering.

    Tilapia special

Ambiance was nice but music a little too loud. But maybe because we were sitting right under the speaker. Greek salad was nice. Fresh lettuce and just the right amount of dressing. My tilapia special had good simple taste. My only complaint is it was too small. Whenever I go out to dinner, I tend to have leftovers this time I was left feeling a little hungry still. Fries of my meal were very nice. Crispy n warm. They seem to have really nice lunch specials. I will try that next.

Combo#3... the food was delicious and service (Kelly) was great!

The food was delicious, and server Kelly was great! I would highly recommend The GOAT Tavern.

While other servers seemed more focused on socializing with regulars than doing their jobs, Taylor stood out immediately. She stayed engaged, checked in at the right times, and made sure everything was handled without needing to be asked twice. That's not luck--that's professionalism. She brings a mix of intelligence and humor that makes the experience better without being forced or over the top. More importantly, she executes. Orders are right, timing is right, and the overall experience feels intentional--not neglected. If you're going to Rowdy Cowboy, don't leave it to chance. Ask for Taylor by name. She's an asset to that place, and based on what I saw, she's setting a standard others there aren't meeting

My Overall Rating - 3 1/2 Stars (5 Stars if you only care about service) Atmosphere - It's pretty electric. There is a large bar in the middle, tons of bar seating, and during my Thursday visit for lunch, it was packed. The vibes are good, and tons of TVs are showing sports. If you have an XY chromosome, this is your place. 1 Star. Service - Rowdy Cowboy is known for having great servers who are very friendly (and nice to look at). All tables were taken, so I sat at the bar. The bartenders were fast, efficient, and very friendly. They got my order wrong, but I don't care. Their friendliness made me not care. 1 Star. Food - Look, if you're here, you're not here for the food. I started with the Steak Frites. The steak was super tender but lacked seasoning. The shoestring fries were awesome and made the perfect pairing to the steak. I ordered the Brisket Sliders but ended up with Wagyu Sliders. I didn't mind because our bartenders were so friendly, but the sliders were just ok. Remember, this place is not known for the food. 1/2 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. Rowdy Cowboy knows exactly what it does well, and believe me it does it well. In fact, out of all the restaurants in this genre, Rowdy Cowboy has the friendliest staff. Yes, I will be back. 1 Star.

No big deal, except the rest of the wait staff kept stopping by talking. It literally took them 12-15 minutes to pour a beer and here is the kicker, the place was NOT busy at all. Waitress was not really focused on us and seemed un phased when I asked about my beer. I've been to other restaurants in the area and the owners actually greet you in their establishment.
