The two things I was disappointed in were that they didn't have waffle fries anymore (had them on our 1st visit) and the avocados weren't ripe enough. I wanted the avocado burger, but the server informed about the avocados. So luckily I was able to order something else, and not have to find out for myself. We LOVE the Happy Hour 26oz $5.50 beer! Our first visit I was really craving a buffalo chicken sandwich. They have one but the chicken is grilled, and I really wanted it fried. Then I noticed another chicken sandwich that is fried, so I asked for that one with buffalo sauce and they delivered. My husband had the New Orleans club it first visit and he loved it. This was my first and last visit. Before coming in, someone in our group called the Roanoke location several hours ahead to confirm they would have the World Cup game playing with the audio. They confirmed it would be on with audio. We arrived around 3 p.m. and watched the first match. Service was slow, but we stayed for the second game. We had about 15 mins into the 2nd World Cup game before they changed some TVs and the audio to the UFC prelims, they even took the Rangers game off of the only two TVs playing it before that game was over for karaoke. When we asked the manager if the soccer audio could be turned back on, she said they had to go with whoever was requesting the sound the most. That was frustrating because our group wasn't the only one asking for the World Cup audio, and we'd already been there for hours. As we were speaking with the manager another woman came over requesting the same thing as us. I understand the manager had to make a decision, but I don't agree with how it was handled. The Facebook post promoting the restaurant to watch the soccer games (which has since been deleted) advertised UFC but never mentioned karaoke. This was our first and last time ordering from Goat Tavern & Pizza in Roanoke, and unfortunately both the pickup process and the food fell short. We ordered straight from their website and were originally given an estimated time of 9:53-10:08 PM. That got bumped by text to 10:19 PM. We'd chosen curbside pickup and were told to call when we arrived, so we did at 10:27 PM -- no answer the first time. On the second call, we were told the order wasn't ready, would take another 15 minutes, and that we'd have to come inside to grab it anyway. So the quoted time kept sliding and the curbside option we picked didn't actually happen. The food didn't turn things around. The Avocado Burger was a letdown mainly because the avocado wasn't ripe: hard and tough to bite through so we pulled the slices off. The burger was OK, nothing special. The fries it came with were soggy, although the separate extra order of fries we added were good, which made the soggy ones even more disappointing. We were at The Goat all evening with several people specifically to watch the World Cup games. The staff had told us they would keep the game on with sound, but halfway through the last game they switched the audio over to the UFC fight instead. When we asked what happened, we were told it was because "the majority of the crowd wanted UFC." That simply wasn't true. In fact, many people left because of the decision. We were later told it was the owner's call. What made the experience even worse was how our concerns were handled. We weren't yelling or causing a scene. We simply expressed that we were disappointed after being told something different earlier in the day. One of the bartenders responded by calling us "assholes," which was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. We understand businesses have to make decisions that won't please everyone, but don't make promises you don't intend to keep. And if customers respectfully voice a concern, they shouldn't be insulted for it. Unfortunately, this experience left a really bad impression. It was one of my favorite places and most frequented that I brought many people to but we won't be back. read more

The GOAT Tavern in Roanoke has a solid neighborhood tavern vibe and is an easy place to stop in, especially if you're solo. I came by on a Saturday around 1pm, sat at the bar, and one thing I genuinely loved was that it wasn't packed at all. Plenty of seats were available, and the atmosphere felt relaxed instead of hectic. *WARNING* Parking here is going to be a pain, but it's nothing the restaurant/bar can do, just be aware if you are not local and are prepared to deal with it. The bar has a handful of on-tap options and your basic mixed drink choices, so it checks the box if you're just looking for a straightforward drink with your meal. If you're coming in to watch a game, you're covered, plenty of TVs are mounted throughout the place so you can catch whatever sports event is on. Food-wise, it was a mixed bag. I started with the bottlecaps as an appetizer, but they lacked breading and flavor. It felt like they were just cut and flash-fried. I ended up putting them on my burger since the sauce was forgotten, and honestly they worked better as a "fix" than as a standalone appetizer. Big bonus points too for fresh-cut jalapeños in the appetize For the main, I ordered their signature "GOAT Burger," and the burger itself had a great taste. You can tell the patties are hand-made, which is a big plus for this area and really should be the standard. So thank you for making a burger the way it should be!! A couple things kept this from being a higher rating, and they feel like things that can improve with time: kitchen speed and quality checks before food goes out. My order was simple, one burger, and the sauce somehow didn't make it onto the burger at all. On a named/signature burger, that sauce is part of the point. Overall, I'll be back to try them again as they get the groove going. The foundation is there, and with a little more consistency in the kitchen, this could easily move up a star. read more

The GOAT Tavern opened last week and they have it dialed!!! I've been in three times already, yes, it's that good. I've had the gyro, the burger, and the wings, all delicious. The bartenders and waitstaff are super friendly and remembered my name when I came in the second time. Really made me feel welcome. They have all the games with their 15 TVs and the music is great! Well, let me tell you...THIS place is really nice. Mother's Day, my daughter and I visited another establishment, first, for celebratory Bloody Mary's, and it was cringy and more like watching paint dry, out come out drinks, which were horrific... We left after 1, and on the way home, stopped by The Goat, more out of curiosity, needless to say, THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Tiffany, the bartender, made awesome drinks, and had a wonderful personality! The establishment is new, nice, clean and inviting. We had a party of 8 & the foods we got were...Chips with queso & salsa, (queso was awesome, but salsa was extremely spicy...be careful!), Philly Steak sandwich, chicken quesadilla, Fried mushrooms, shrimp basket with onion rings, burgers, waffle fries & a gyro sandwich. Everyone was raving about the food & the portions were very generous! The waitress/bartender (Becky) was AMAZING! Food is good. Solid 8.5/10 bar food which is what I was looking for. Onion rings are 11/10. My issue is with mgmt and online ordering. Online ordering is via Slice. Email and text alerts stated food would be ready bw 739-754. I arrived at 7:40. Food wasn't ready; no problem. At 7:54 noticed a message that came in moments earlier stating my order was ready at 7:51. About that time the manager asked if I've been helped. I showed him the message saying the order was ready. His response, "oh that's through Slice; it will be a few minutes." Then walked away. For a new restaurant trying to get a foothold in a competitive area, I at least expected an apology. The server I initially spoke to (who was great) told me the kitchen was backed up and just got my order. Food was ready by 8:04. I guess they were in a rush to get it out and left a bun off my burger. If you order takeout, you may want to call in vs order online. I'm chalking this up to new restaurant hiccups. Ambiance was nice but music a little too loud. But maybe because we were sitting right under the speaker. Greek salad was nice. Fresh lettuce and just the right amount of dressing. My tilapia special had good simple taste. My only complaint is it was too small. Whenever I go out to dinner, I tend to have leftovers this time I was left feeling a little hungry still. Horrible experience with a takeout order today. We ordered burgers from The Goat Tavern website which detailed all the ingredients that came on the burgers. None of the ingredients as described on their own website came with the burgers to include the bacon & BBQ from the bacon & BBQ burger. Why would I have to Ask for the bacon & BBQ if that's the burger I'm ordering?? No lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle as described for EVERY burger on THEIR website. We also ordered Cheddar Jalepeno Poppers. They were filled with cream cheese. The title states "Cheddar". No cheddar. Further, the manager argued when we called to complain saying we ordered from a third-party which we did not. We ordered directly from their website & drove to pick it up. No Doordash involved at all. Who knew we needed to check EVERY container to ensure the order was correct when we pickedit up. The manager yelled at my sister & was incredibly rude. All in All one of the absolute worst experiences. Food sucked & the manager took No responsibility. Highly advise All to never patron this establishment. read more

Came back again. Had the Cajun sub. Have no idea why it's called a Cajun sub as all it is turkey, ham and cheese with lettuce . Nothing Cajun about it. Not even does it have the spice. Sandwich good but it's a ham / turkey club with cheese. They now have waffle fries again but this brand is mushy yet crispy after cooked. Don't know the identity of this place. They claim one thing on the menu but deliver the most basic item. This place just seems to have good beer. All the items on the new menu are about 20% more than what it use to be. read more

She was fantastic. we sat outside while everyone else was inside. She was at our table every 10 minutes asking if we were good...did we need anything. Friendly, pretty, and good at her job. Apple Maps has the address wrong, other than that I had no complaints. Legitimately one of the best burgers I have had. I came on a Thursday at 12:30 and there were only a couple people in here food came out fast. Staff was awesome and super friendly. All in all I give it five stars.
