Outside seating on a nice night
    Karl A.

Wanted something with flavor that was healthy and found it. A big plate of curry and rice that is perfectly spiced and wonderfully cooked. Sitting outside on a nice day life couldn't be better.

What a well rounded (no pun intended) menu at The Globe! It's an incredibly small diner with some indoor and outdoor tables - we were fortunate to get an outdoor table and the weather was perfect. Staff were very kind and attentive. Ordered both soups to try and I preferred the 15 bean a bit more, but thought both were phenomenally savory and flavorful! My bf got the korean bbq bowl at a heat of 2 and was very pleased! We def would return if in town again (visiting).

First of all, the guy who owns this place is the nicest guy, enthusiastically described and suggested dishes to us, and introduced us to his favorites. He warned us hot was going to be hot-hot, so we ordered lower than the spice level than we normally would and the food was plenty spicy. This place is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. It's right on the UW campus and has a few tables inside and outside. We had fried chicken Tibetan dumplings, and I could have eaten a whole order myself, crispy and stuffed full of mildly spicy, flavorful minced chicken. Our curries were amazing. Like, I still think about them amazing. I don't live in Madison, but if I did, I'd eat here once a week.

I love this place! The Indian tic tac curry and Thai coconut curry were noted as one of the most popular items and I can see why! I would suggest ordering a higher spice level if you like spicy food (; Service was friendly! You order at the counter and they bring it out to wherever you're sitting. The ambiance inside is small but they have a lot of outdoor seating. I highly suggest sitting outside when it's nice out!

We've walked by this place many many times and never really paid attention to it until we saw some reviews so we decided to give it a try. Given it is a super tiny space we waited until summer to dine here at one of their outdoor tables. One problem with that idea was that on a hot sunny day their outdoor seating has no shade so we ended up eating inside (with minimum AC). Fortunately it was early and not too busy. You order at the counter. And I don't think they had any alcohol. I ordered the Korean BBQ pork bowl and my wife ordered the Korean chicken tacos. Both were big servings and very delicious. We noted that we should have ordered the Tibetan dumplings which everyone else had ordered and were prominently mentioned in other reviews. Next time. An interesting mainly Asian menu. My tastes are narrower than my wife's and she saw many other items to order on another visit. We will be back.

This place is BUSTLING! And for good reason. We ordered the Indian tic tac chicken and grilled Korean bbq with chicken. Both were delicious in their own right. I will say the spice level was quite high -- we did a 4/5. The burn felt good but perhaps a bit too high for us.

    Chicken Tibetan dumplings

We went for a late lunch. The restaurant is small but it has outdoor seating. There were plenty of people taking out as well. The server seated us as well as took our order. The service was quick. The food was delicious. We were offered additional rice for our curries free of charge. I would recommend this for anyone interested in quick Asian fusion that tastes great.

I could eat here everyday lol it's that good !!! Great family own restaurant in the heart of madison! They are always so kind, caring, and diligent with each and every customer. I love coming here and telling people about it. I have had the afghan korma curry with chicken level 3 spicy and it's delicious every time ! Their indian tic- tac curry, cajun jambalaya, grilled korean bbq, chow mein noodles, and samosa's are few other favorites of ours. Great place to take out or dine in. They offer indoor and outdoor seating! Go check them out ! Tell em jessi sent you... and grab a Thai tea on the way out. (:

Such a neat experience here! we picked our own level of spice. We loved the nice slow building heat of the Korean BBQ. The spicy sauce around the Tibetan dumplings was surprising & worthy returning for!

Cozy little place with authentic dishes. I had the veggie bento box and the Thai coconut curry spice level 3. Very spicy but delicious. I will come back next time I'm in town.

Delightful cozy spot with a handful of indoor tables and counter seating, plus outdoor seating. The dumplings are to die for.

Creamy Curry Noodles and Japanese Teriyaki Noodles
    Yun C.

The noodles that were used were not the right texture for curry or teriyaki flavors--this was what turned me away the most. Chicken in the curry noodles wasn't the best, either. The service was quick and attentive, which is a plus. Outdoor seating is nice (particularly in the evening) and what I would prefer over the indoor.

One has a window into the bakery area and the grandkids enjoyed watching the pastry chef work her magic. Parking is in the street or the small adjacent parking lot. While the location is accessible, the dining areas are a bit tight for a wheelchair. However, those at the tables would be happy to make room as needed.

This is a great vegetarian sandwich - I'm not sure if it can be made vegan. The kid's turkey sandwich is really nice and comes on a freshly baked roll with a generous side of fresh fruit-it doesn't come with mayo or another spread, so you might want to ask for. The bread was delicious and I was sad, but not surprised, there were almost no loaves left for purchase. The only negative was the greens served with the sandwich. The mixed greens were fresh, but had almost no dressing or any other veggies or toppings included.

But if you were open to just having a nice casual dinner in a retro easy place, this is it. My fiance and I went to meet up with some friends from out of town and from a list of places I wanted to try, they chose this one. Between the two of us, we spent about $60 for this meal, which I suppose now adays is on par with what you can get away with. We also left with half a sandwich because honestly, these guys are huge! -Hot Beef Sando with Cheese (extra): this was a massive sandwich, packed with flavor. The ah jus was on the side and needed for dunking. It hit the spot, was a messy affair, but was very good. The meat wasn't melt in your mouth, it was actually quite dry, but the mix of everything together and the dip made it good overall. - Chili Cup: well spiced, super small cup and charging a dollar for each addition of onion, cheese, and sour cream is murder. Pass on the fixings, the soup doesn't need it, but it's not something i'd get again as it wasn't knock out of the park good. -Homemade Orange Soda: this was great. Be warned though, its the same slaw on the pulled chicken...which speaking of: -Pulled chicken sandwich: It's their meat americanized fusion version of a banh mi. I know they have a vegan one on their menu, but this one felt less like a sandwich. The spices weren't quite asian tho and was interesting with the slaw. We could tell a lot of thought went into the design and flow of the evening. Every dish was beautifully presented, flavorful, and full of creative twists on classic favorites. Like the strawberry tomato soup and the corn blueberry ice cream. The bison and other meat dishes were perfectly done and high quality. t's clear that the chefs take pride in crafting dishes that are both inventive and approachable, with local ingredients. I was also happy to find out they'll box up any courses you can't finish, which is great if you want to plan ahead for what to eat and what to take home. Already hoping I can get a reservation to go back.

I have been WAITING to come here and I was not disappointed. Honestly, if you want to try Nook (and…read moreyou should if you can) I would go in with no expectations and just experience it -- meaning stop reading this review after the first paragraph because it might give some spoilers. To start, reservations. They open a few months in advance at midnight on the first of the month... sucks for anyone not usually up at midnight but worth it. I locked in my reservation date at 12:03am, a coworker was also trying to get a reservation for the same month and it was sold out by 12:06am when he tried. So, know your date ahead of time, click refresh constantly starting at 11:59pm, and Godspeed! Now to my experience. I'm not usually wild about the 12course restaurants you see in Chicago or New York. The space is uppity, the people are obnoxious, and the food is... usually just fine. This is truly a Madison and a Wisconsin spin on that pretentious kind of environment, and it is so down to earth. It's a personal experience with the chef and staff that you can't get in the big city. They explain each meal and often would tell you where the ingredients came from nearby... sometimes the chef's backyard. There is one seating per night at 6:30pm and everyone is sitting together. The plates are served individually to each person, and technically there are six 2-person tables assembled together about 3-4 inches from one another to make a sort of single long table. I'd sort of been picturing one single long table, but this worked just fine. My party of 2 was near the middle, so it was fun to be able to have some inclusion on conversations on both side of the table.  And the food. Wow. Continuing the Wisconsin spin on a 12 course (this being 13 course) meal, these are not tiny plates. While each one is not a solo big meal, they are larger than I expected and I was legitimately full after course #4. And we hadn't even gotten to the "mains" at that point! They do box parts of the meal up for you if it's conducive to leftovers. That gave me dinner the next night as well. So pace yourself, and if it's something that would function as leftovers, try it and move on. I did the wine pairing with it, and they were also generous pours (9 of them) -- consider an Uber. I'm not a wine-o, but I figured when in Rome.... go all out. The wines actually did complement each meal really well.  This is a unique experience of fine dining you WILL not get at the fancy restaurants. If you are a foodie, this is a must. It's super low key, come as you are. We had people at our table in hooded sweatshirts and people in nice dresses as if they were ready for the symphony. All were welcome and nobody was judged. The chef is hilarious, the staff is so much fun and I was laughing constantly. They are truly part of the experience almost as much as the food itself. If this in in your budget, it is worth the stress of getting a reservation. Bravo. Oh, and if it's not obvious -- yes, the food is incredible.
