I've lived in Southern Maryland, Northern College Park, and now Washington, D.C. and still make the trip to this salon in Virginia for my hair. Number one reason- they care about your hair. To the point where they will give an honest opinion when needed, and advise against certain styles/hair trends if they believe your hair is not in the best shape for it- even if that means that they are loosing money. They give great trims and will make sure not to cut off more than you ask. They put a lot of care into how they handle your hair, and have THE best advice on home remedies for damaged hair. Don't believe me? Take one step in the salon and take a look at their regulars, their hair speaks for itself. This a no-frills type of a salon that specializes in roller sets. From what I've seen, they do not blow dry your hair while wet - which I appreciate as it cuts down on the heat damage. Instead they do roller sets and allow your hair to dry under the dryer. This method works really well for my sisters and I as it cuts down on the direct heat on our hair and adds body. After your hair is taken out of the rollers you have the option of wrapping your hair, flat ironing your whole hair, or just flat ironing the roots. I'm sure there are other styling options but these are the only styles my sisters and I have tried. *Bonus - they have someone at the salon who specializes in threading and waxing, she's terrific. They accept card, but use cash when you can.

I explained that I was only five minutes MAX behind schedule due to the parking situation, but what concerned me most was the lack of accountability here. No one informed me that the stylist was behind schedule when I checked in, and no updates were given to me while I waited. But the most disappointing, and concerning part was the attempt to shift responsibility onto me rather than simply acknowledging the delay. As a business owner myself, I believe accountability and transparency are essential. When a business can't take responsibility for its own scheduling issues and instead blames the customer, it raises serious concerns and makes me question the ethics and how this business might handle more serious issues, and for this reason, I hope to encourage their management team and any potential clients to reflect on how important accountability and honest communication is!
