I've been going to the same stylist for years, but for many reasons (don't work in the neighborhood anymore, have to book way in advance and/or take time off work, price), decided to try Jon David since it's close to home. My daughters already go there and have been happy with their cuts. I ended up booking an appointment short notice (few days in advance) for a Saturday with Tina. So, I have the worst hair! Completely straight and super fine/then making it incredibly difficult to do anything with. I relayed this to Tina and she managed to give me a cut where the layers look good, giving it more fullness than I usually get with haircuts. And she's super fast too! Plus, I appreciated that she didn't try selling me a bunch of products without me asking. Honestly, she didn't put any product in my hair at all or try to style in a way I'd never be able to replicate, which was very different for me. Finally, I think I must have gotten the best scalp massage during my shampoo I've ever gotten at a salon. I don't remember the young lady's name, but she is the best. If I had one little criticism (it's really no biggie!), it would be nice to have water/coffee/tea offered. Granted, they aren't as expensive as other salons, so I get it. But given the nice salon vibe they have going for them, I think it would go a long way. Maybe they do that for longer appointments though? read more

My daughter went in for a haircut to donate her hair (and had been growing it for some time). Her entire life she has had one one-length hair and had done so to make these kinds of hair donations. Stylist (Daniel) took it upon himself to give her massive layers without asking, the shortest being chin length. The layers are a disaster and completely uneven. Caution to anyone going in - you need to be extremely specific and overcommunicate to the stylist. It goes without saying to avoid Daniel. Aseen is AMAZING. She cut and colored my hair. Got it EXACTLY the way I want. She gave an amazing scalp massage and so professional and sweet. She wasn't too chatty and took the right amount of time to do my hair. I've been to sooooo many salons and I'd say she's THE BEST. I truly hope my experience won't change next time. I've tried so many places and asked for simple framing and some finning on ends and always end up with just flat straight line in best cases in worse of course uneven lines. But Aseen did really good. Went in for blonde highlights ( roots done and brighter blonde) for my daughters prom. Came out with dish water color hair and my daughter heart broken. They insist they HAVE to put toner in hair to even out color yet it turned hair brown/gray. Went back and they put a rinse in to lighten it. Could not tell a difference. I made an appointment a week in advance to come in on a Saturday at 10AM. I was a little hesitant at first because I have been getting a haircut from a friend over the last few years, but she recently move to another state and I needed a trim bad! When I walked in the receptionist was on the phone, but she still made a point to smile at me and whispered to write my name and phone # down. She then asked me to have a seat and I only waited a few minutes before Ellie came over and introduced herself. I sat down in Ellie's chair and told her exactly what I wanted which was just a 2 inch trim with long layers. Pretty simple, but you'd be surprised how many stylists have messed that up before! I was then brought over to have my hair washed and it was fantastic! The woman who washed my hair did a great job and it was truly relaxing! While Ellie was styling my hair I inquired about a Brazilian Blowout, which she then explained the process. I usually hate asking about other services because they really try to push you to spend more $, but this wasn't the case with Ellie. She answered everything I wanted to know without pressuring me to make another appointment. When Ellie was done styling my hair I was completely blown away. This was by far one of the BEST hair cuts I have ever received. I will continue being a customer come see Ellie every time! I highly recommend her!!! read more

I was looking for a salon in Springfield for a simple haircut but I was going rather short so I wanted someone who was good. One of the things that I love about this salon is the ability to check out the stylists on the website. I called and made an appointment and was able to get in within a couple of days and they were extremely flexible when I needed to reschedule. The day of my appt i ended up getting Erika as my stylist. She was warm, friendly, and gave me exactly the haircut I needed! So I recently came back here after a long absence. Hoping to get a decent men's haircut and assumed things would be fine. David (presumptive owner) was the stylist. My appointment was 1/2 late even though I was on time. David kept wandering off with distractions and when he did cut my hair it ended up being possibly the worst cut I've had in 20 years and they charged me $34 for the pleasure. The salon looks nice but that's not important to me. Walking out of there and now growing out another bad haircut makes me mad. The quality of Sports Clips with a much higher price is a ripoff. Last year I got highlights at this salon and after the first wash I didn't like the result so I contacted the salon and they re did it, maybe thats why they got something against me and when I went in June this year again the completely messed up my hair. The stylist was on their highest level but didnt pull my highlights all The way down resulting in very visible stains and multicolors. the color looks so messy I don't even know how to describe. I cannot recommend Irena, or Jon David Salon, enough. I am one of those types of people that forgets to get their haircut and then realizes that its been six months since my last cut. I had recently moved to the area in September, and getting my hair cut had been the last thing on my mind. I had an upcoming event for work that I wanted to have my hair styled for, so I figured it was time to begin my search. I turned to Yelp for help and thankfully I found Jon David Salon. When I called in to make an appointment I was asked for which stylist I wanted, so I let them know it was my first time and they then made recommendations based off of my hair type and what I was looking for. I have tons of thick, straight hair and wanted to have my hair styled with "old hollywood soft curls" so they recommended Irena, saying she was one of their best for styling. I arrived just on time for my appointment, signed in (they have you fill out a little ticket, almost as if you were placing an order) and was seated in their waiting area for all but a minute before being taken to have my hair washed. Irena was the one who took me there, after she asked why I had come in that day. I explained to her how I needed a cut and was looking for the specific type of style to be done. The only time I waited around was once I got into the hair washing chair. It seemed like they had two dedicated women washing hair, one was currently helping another client, and the other one seemed to be finishing her break, or maybe helping out somewhere else. I waited less than five minutes, and then I received the most delightful and perfect head massage/ hair wash ever. Very gentle, nice warm water, but also a great neck/head massage. After that I went back to Irena's station and she confirmed with me how much I wanted cut. She was great, didn't seem overly eager to cut off way too much (which can sometimes be a concern), she even asked if instead of a whole inch, if I wanted to just cut a half inch. That was perfect to me, and she also kept my long layers, not pushing to cut some crazy style into it. She did comment on how since I have such a deep side part, that the one side of my hair was much longer compared to the other side. I had quite honestly never noticed until she pointed it out, but it was obvious once she did. She offered to even out the sides for me, once again, not being pushy about it. I went for it and I'm glad she mentioned it, because I am sure it was like that since probably my last two hair cuts. Once we finished with my hair cut she let me look at it in the mirrors and give final approval, which I was grateful for. After that, we moved onto styling. Let me just say that my appointment was for 3pm, and my event not until 6:30. In the future, I know to now make my appointments for more around 12 or 1 for a 6:30 event, which is not a negative reflection on Irena or the salon, because they really wasted no time on me, I just now realize how long it takes for my hair to get styled. Irena worked for about two hours on my hair, meticulously curling all of the layers to achieve the look I had asked for. When it came time to relax the curls, the back of my hair fell flat. She immediately pointed this out and didn't even give me a second to complain, she was already displeased with the fact it fell and was already working on putting in new curls to fix the situation. Thankfully she didn't have any appointments sooner (she said the salon gave her lots of time before her next appointment, knowing mine could go long) but eventually her next appointment did come in. She did not make me feel like it was my problem, but had someone else send her next client to get their hair washed while she finished up with me. Irena made sure I was pleased with my hair, and gave me so much attention, checking to see if it was exactly how I wanted. I was over the moon with my style! I have never gotten exactly what I had asked for in the past, and she delivered 100%. If it didn't take two hours, and so much effort, I would wear my hair like this everyday! I could not thank her enough, and I made sure to tell the people working the front desk how pleased I was. As I was checking out they gave me a 25% off coupon for the next appointment, which I thought was a nice touch. All night long at my event I got so many compliments, and I felt so flawless thanks to my hair. It gave me such a confidence boost! I posted photos to Facebook from the event and my friends were just as in love with my hair as I was. Unfortunately, they all live far away otherwise I would be recommending them to come check out this salon too! I plan on returning (in probably six months) for my next hair cut, and I will definitely be back when I need my hair styled next. Not only is he a top notch stylist, he's so friendly and personable. I could totally see myself laughing over a glass of wine with him. I needed highlights and a cut. David perfectly did both. I'm so happy with how it turned out. I've been in VA for 17 years and hadn't found a stylist who wowed me until today. I am a client for life. You must know that you cannot tip on a credit card. Wilma's a really nice woman and will be as talkative as you want her to be, or not. I'm not too much of a talker when I get mani-pedis, so she fit the bill. I was pleased with the results and Wilma's attention to detail. The price ($68) and the results are pretty much what I expect in the area, so Jon David will not be my go-to place, but it definitely makes my "one of many mani-pedi places to go to" list. Ask for Sara France Coursey if you want color or highlights- she's the best! Sara has been doing my hair for about 10 years. I always receive compliments on my partial highlights and cut. This place can be expensive, but it's worth every penny. I've never had a bad cut from Sara or bad color. I've recommended quite a few friends here who always went "home" to get their hair done and they all converted to Sara. The place is always clean and well kept, they offer you water or tea when you sit down and the staff who wash and blow dry your hair have always been professional and friendly. read more
