Sahim, one of the hairdressers, made me feel terrible and disrespected as a client. She huffed while cutting my hair, silently judged me with the way she looked at my hair, and did not make me feel heard as a client. Honestly, I wanted to cry sitting in that chair. David is an incredibly talnted artist who took my broken hair and transformed it into a lovely new style. My daughter went in for a haircut to donate her hair (and had been growing it for some time). Her entire life she has had one one-length hair and had done so to make these kinds of hair donations. Stylist (Daniel) took it upon himself to give her massive layers without asking, the shortest being chin length. The layers are a disaster and completely uneven. Caution to anyone going in - you need to be extremely specific and overcommunicate to the stylist. It goes without saying to avoid Daniel. I can't believe a stylist would do something like this without specifically asking the client. I've been going to the same stylist for years, but for many reasons (don't work in the neighborhood anymore, have to book way in advance and/or take time off work, price), decided to try Jon David since it's close to home. My daughters already go there and have been happy with their cuts. I ended up booking an appointment short notice (few days in advance) for a Saturday with Tina. So, I have the worst hair! Completely straight and super fine/then making it incredibly difficult to do anything with. I relayed this to Tina and she managed to give me a cut where the layers look good, giving it more fullness than I usually get with haircuts. And she's super fast too! Plus, I appreciated that she didn't try selling me a bunch of products without me asking. Honestly, she didn't put any product in my hair at all or try to style in a way I'd never be able to replicate, which was very different for me. Finally, I think I must have gotten the best scalp massage during my shampoo I've ever gotten at a salon. I don't remember the young lady's name, but she is the best. If I had one little criticism (it's really no biggie!), it would be nice to have water/coffee/tea offered. Granted, they aren't as expensive as other salons, so I get it. But given the nice salon vibe they have going for them, I think it would go a long way. Maybe they do that for longer appointments though? read more

Aseen is AMAZING. She cut and colored my hair. Got it EXACTLY the way I want. She gave an amazing scalp massage and so professional and sweet. She wasn't too chatty and took the right amount of time to do my hair. I've been to sooooo many salons and I'd say she's THE BEST. I truly hope my experience won't change next time. I can be harsh with my reviews as I see fit but she definitely deserves the 5 stars. Despite having a myriad of guests under his care, David Bakir gave me the same attention and quality of cut that he would have if I was the only one in the salon. The cut took around 10 minutes which is exponentially more efficient than most hair cutters around today, and I can't recommend Jon David Salon and David Bakir enough. read more

I've tried so many places and asked for simple framing and some finning on ends and always end up with just flat straight line in best cases in worse of course uneven lines. But Aseen did really good. To complete, she wasn't chatting and asking endless questions in trying to establish some kind of connection, instead she was focused on getting me the best results which I so appreciate. I made an appointment a week in advance to come in on a Saturday at 10AM. I was a little hesitant at first because I have been getting a haircut from a friend over the last few years, but she recently move to another state and I needed a trim bad! When I walked in the receptionist was on the phone, but she still made a point to smile at me and whispered to write my name and phone # down. She then asked me to have a seat and I only waited a few minutes before Ellie came over and introduced herself. I sat down in Ellie's chair and told her exactly what I wanted which was just a 2 inch trim with long layers. Pretty simple, but you'd be surprised how many stylists have messed that up before! I was then brought over to have my hair washed and it was fantastic! The woman who washed my hair did a great job and it was truly relaxing! While Ellie was styling my hair I inquired about a Brazilian Blowout, which she then explained the process. I usually hate asking about other services because they really try to push you to spend more $, but this wasn't the case with Ellie. She answered everything I wanted to know without pressuring me to make another appointment. When Ellie was done styling my hair I was completely blown away. This was by far one of the BEST hair cuts I have ever received. I will continue being a customer come see Ellie every time! I highly recommend her!!! read more

I was looking for a salon in Springfield for a simple haircut but I was going rather short so I wanted someone who was good. One of the things that I love about this salon is the ability to check out the stylists on the website. I called and made an appointment and was able to get in within a couple of days and they were extremely flexible when I needed to reschedule. The day of my appt i ended up getting Erika as my stylist. She was warm, friendly, and gave me exactly the haircut I needed! Last year I got highlights at this salon and after the first wash I didn't like the result so I contacted the salon and they re did it, maybe thats why they got something against me and when I went in June this year again the completely messed up my hair. The stylist was on their highest level but didnt pull my highlights all The way down resulting in very visible stains and multicolors. the color looks so messy I don't even know how to describe. Also asked for a haircut and not only got cut more than I asked for, left and right side are completely uneven. Horrible experience, will not be returning. read more

So I recently came back here after a long absence. Hoping to get a decent men's haircut and assumed things would be fine. David (presumptive owner) was the stylist. My appointment was 1/2 late even though I was on time. David kept wandering off with distractions and when he did cut my hair it ended up being possibly the worst cut I've had in 20 years and they charged me $34 for the pleasure. The salon looks nice but that's not important to me. Walking out of there and now growing out another bad haircut makes me mad. The quality of Sports Clips with a much higher price is a ripoff. i'm honestly not sure what happened because the first time i went to get a haircut here i had an amazing experience and my stylist was super communicative and made an effort to understand what i was expecting but the second time i went i was so unconfident and unsure about the service i was getting. first off they got my appointment type wrong, they thought i was there just for a wash and dry. i had to awkwardly ask my stylist if i was going to get my haircut because she took me to the bowl and then took me back and immediately started drying my hair. it didn't feel great when i attempted to show my stylist 2 photos of what i was expecting and she just like glances at it and asked me zero questions about anything, which made me so nervous my entire haircut that she was going to cut it wrong because she didn't ask me what i wanted out of my haircut. at the end she didn't screw up my haircut but it doesn't look any different either...? i understand they're a more "budget friendly" salon but my expectations were set so high first time i went and then the second time was the complete opposite. i'm just glad she didn't botch it, but it honestly didn't feel great paying the money i did for such a mid experience read more

I had never been to this salon before, but the Yelp reviews were good so I gave it a shot. And boy am I glad I did. David is AMAZING!! Not only is he a top notch stylist, he's so friendly and personable. I could totally see myself laughing over a glass of wine with him. I needed highlights and a cut. David perfectly did both. I'm so happy with how it turned out. I've been in VA for 17 years and hadn't found a stylist who wowed me until today. I am a client for life. You must know that you cannot tip on a credit card. I requested an appointment online and was booked a few hours later with Erica, who did an absolutely amazing job on my hair. I hadn't gotten my hair cut in over six months, and I've been growing out an awful dye job for about two years now, which was finally ready to be chopped off. She did an excellent job during the consultation trying to figure out exactly what I would need to fix my hair and get it back to looking natural without dying again. I told her what I wanted (hate the dyed color, want to chop it off, cut layers to get as much off as possible without losing length), and she was really clear with me with what she was going to do. She also recommended using a toner to help with some of the brassiness of the ends. She let me know about the cost of the toner ($25 more) and how much more time I'd be there (15 minutes) and stuck to that. I left the salon with a great cut and was receiving compliments for the rest of the week. I've hated my hair and the process of getting rid of the damage from a few years ago, and this is the first time in years I've actually liked my hair. Thank you so much!! As for the rest of the salon, it was really clean, the receptionist was great, and the shampoo/scalp massage was really relaxing. I'll definitely be back to see Erica again! Just one note, though: can the salon consider attaching purse hooks at the stylists' stations? There wasn't a good place to put my purse without feeling like it was in someone's way. read more
