If you have curly hair, you HAVE to go to Natalie. She does this "dry cut" which I have never seen offered anywhere else. Basically, she cuts your hair while it is still dry to make sure that she is working with your natural curls. She asks questions throughout the process to make sure that she's meeting my expectations. I loved how it turned out. She took off quite a few inches, added curly bangs, in addition to a golden bayalage. It was a big change for me, but I love it! After almost 40 years (yea i just aged myself), I'm so thankful to finally find a stylist who knows how to cut, transform, and style curly hair! read more

If you value your time and good customer service, do not go to this salon. They charge you for late appointment cancellations which is totally fair - it's lost revenue for them. However, if they are running way behind schedule they don't seem to recognize the negative impact on the customer. I have been a client at PR Partners for over 20 years. I recently switched to a stylist at the old town Alexandria location. I made an appointment for the middle of the work day because that is all that was available. I took vacation time to get to this appointment. I arrived a little early and waited in the reception area. Twenty minutes after my appointment was scheduled to start, I approached the reception desk to ask about the delay. The assistant came to get me. I was seated next to the stylist who was still cutting the previous clients hair. Five minutes later I walked back down to the reception desk. I explained to them that the delay was too long and that I had a meeting that I was afraid I would miss due to the extensive delay. I spent $35 in uber rides to get to and from the appointment only to have to leave because the stylist was so far behind schedule. I emailed them when I got home expressing my disappointment and asked that they contact me to reschedule. I got no response from the email. The following day I called them and asked to speak to the manager and was told she would call me when she returned to the salon in two days. She never called me back. I always give a business the opportunity to make things right before I rate them on Yelp. This place couldn't even return my phone call or my email. I will not return here. Very disappointing. I hope they learn to improve customer service. read more

Natalie is the BEST hair stylist I've ever had, and trust me... I've tried a bunch! It feels SO good to have a go-to girl for my wavy/curly hair needs. Natalie listens to what you want, triple-checks your desired lengths before cutting, and has incredible attention to detail while styling your hair. She is impressively good at bringing bounce back to your waves/curls and defining every strand, ensuring it's frizz-free. Aside from being a skilled hair stylist, she has outstanding customer service and is just a down-to-earth, genuine, kind and beautiful woman inside and out. Selfishly hoping she never moves. read more

I cannot say enough good things about my curly cut with Gabby T. today! Also, not only is she talented, she's super kind and fun to talk to. Highly recommend seeing Gabby read more

I moved to the dmv just under two years ago and was very worried about finding a dependable stylist whose work I also loved. After going to Natalie at PratPartners, I have never thought about going anywhere else. Not only is she so kind but she is amazing at her job. I made sure to book an appointment with her specifically to make sure that my hair for my wedding was everything I wanted it to be. I was beyond pleased. I have recommended my friends and family go to her as I am so confident that they will have a wonderful experience. I'll never go to another stylist while I live in the DMV. Katie has a laser focus and a passion for hair; I loved the way I looked and the way the rainbow colors made me feel.   Katie has a vibrant personality (much like the color she creates) and was very enthusiastic about helping me with my vision. She dyed hair extensions for me, and I had my longtime hairstylist install the weave. I have received so much positive attention, and people keep stopping me in the street and giving me compliments and kudos. Pandemic note: You complete a form when you arrive (using a QR code) and get a temperature check. The staff is wearing masks. I felt very safe and can't wait to go back for more colors! read more

Natalie is amazing!! She asks questions throughout the cut to make sure she's giving you exactly what you want. She also gave me some super helpful tips on how to care and style my wavy hair. I went in for a curly cut (usually more expensive) and because she was running late she charged me for a normal cut (such a steal). It's hard to find someone who does a good shag cut (especially on wavy hair) and Natalie killed it. Best haircut I've ever had. And she offered me drinks and snacks :) read more

I've been a customer of PR at Partners in Chantilly for years now. Since I moved to Alexandria, I wanted to give their Old Town location a try. I was referred to Casey by my old stylist. I'm always hesitant when I try a new stylist because you never know what you're going to get! I was pleasantly surprised. She was really pleasant, listened to my likes/dislikes about my hair and helped me figure out how to fix a bad haircut I had gotten a few months earlier. I left feeling MUCH better about my hair. She did a great job on my cut - it was even and well done. What a relief! She also did a glaze for me to tone down my brassy ombre. She knew just what to do and it looked great. BTW, did I mention $60 for a cut and $15 for a glaze? Great price. I'll be back! read more

April!!! I mean, look at this mane! She's given me new life, plus she's interesting and hilarious. I get a great look and excellent company when I see her. The prices are a bit more than you might pay elsewhere, but it's worth it. The stylists are on-trend and they're excellent at setting new clients instantly at ease. Anyone whi could take my pandemic hair and return it to something of its former glory deserves a medal, but someone who does it with flair and makes me enjoy the experience...that person deserves cash. read more

PR At Partners - Old Town Alexandria - Fresh color! - Hair Salons Near Me - Alexandria, Virginia

Harmony is the best! I saw her about 5 weeks ago for full babylights with some balayage, toner, and cut. At our consultation she was very thorough and took notes to make sure she understood exactly what I wanted. She also took time to explain the salon policies, pricing, and maintenance plan, so when I arrived for my appointment there were no surprises. Harmony is very warm and super friendly which is so nice when you are spending 3+ hours at the salon. She really makes you feel like an old friend. The color turned out absolutely beautiful, and was expertly blended. I had my second appointment for a toner touch up today, and I couldn't be happier. Harmony recapped our last appointment and helped me decide the right shade for winter. I wanted something a little darker and she blended a gorgeous chocolate-y brown with some gold undertone. She also educated me on all the fun we can have with toning different shades. During the appointment Harmony helped me schedule my next appointment so I can keep up with my toner and trim maintenance. Finding the right colorist/stylist can be a challenging and stressful process. I'm so happy I found Harmony, and would highly recommend her. read more

I had the worst hair color and cut appointment of my life here. I came here out of convenience since I live in Old Town, and I also have been to the PR Partners in Shirlington and had been happy with my stylist there. I let the reception recommend a stylist, and I ended up with Makida. I asked for a balayage and a trim. I had gotten balayage with two different colorists prior, and I just asked for an update to it. I have long, full, dark dark brown hair. Usually it takes a lot of layers and a lot of hair product for a colorist to apply to my hair, and I honestly think she had gotten tired and decided to quit midway through. She got very sloppy and the color was applied inconsistently (some spots concentrated, others not) and there were parts were you could see a straight line across my hair where the straight brush had applied the chemical. Not only that, but the product had soaked through the cape and had gotten onto my black sweater, also lightening and lifting the color from it. Finally, for the hair cut, I asked to maintain a layered cut, shaped around my face. She literally cut straight across the bottom. By the end of it, after 3-4 hours, I felt bad for all the time she had spent on it and was just glad to get out of there. A few days later, I just could not deal with my splotchy hair color and called them about how unhappy I was. They ended up refunding me for the color. My friends told me that I should have asked for the money for the cut and the cost of my sweater too. But I felt so bad about the time she had spent on me. I ended up having to go to a salon in Georgetown to get it fixed. It cost me about $300 to fix my cut and color, AND all of the trouble to run to Georgetown and the hours it takes to process color. I admit, this happened probably three years ago, but I still remember it and use it as a cautionary tale about going to a new hair colorist without personal references. read more

Love Pr Partners! I've been coming to see Connie for my hair highlights/bayalage for years now and she's the absolute BEST in the biz. She's so sweet, does exactly what you ask, and it always turns out AMAZING! I know Connie has a ton of regulars and it's really easy to see why. Mikida is my new haircut stylist (recommended by Connie) and also did a fabulous job. I'm extremely picky and only trust certain stylists to do my hair so I won't be changing stylists anytime soon. PR has moved locations once in the last few years and have a bigger space now. It's nice, clean, and the staff are all incredibly friendly. Highly recommend PR partners, especially Connie and Mikida! I followed Harmony after meeting her at her previous salon. She is welcoming and warm from the moment you meet her. My first haircut with her I let her know I'm trying to grow out my hair and I left the salon very happy she really respects the fact that I didn't want a lot of length taken. I've recently got my color done with her also and I love the dimension, brightness, and most importantly the integrity of my curly hair (I went platinum once and my curls were GONE). The salon atmosphere is also amazing. I love all the plants and awesome decor. Overall, always a great experience. read more

I literally love Natalie. I've been looking for a hairdresser for years that I could trust with my curly hair. Natalie listened to my ideas and concerns and gave me exactly what I wanted. So glad I found her 10/10 read more

I came here for the first time this weekend. I haven't had a hair cut in a very long time and wanted to donate my hair to Pantene's Beautiful Lengths. I was referred to Katie from one of my friends who had been going to her for years. After checking out her Instagram and reviews on Yelp I booked an appointment. Katie is a pretty popular stylist so I had to wait a few weeks to get a slot that would work for me. My appointment was at 11:00 on a Sunday which was when the salon opens so I didn't really expect there to be a delay already since it was the beginning of the day. However, I did have to wait about 15 minutes after my appointment time until I was brought back which was kind of a turn off. There was also some sort of scheduling conflict and it seemed that Katie was working on a few people at one time and bouncing back and forth. If I hadn't been referred by a friend I would have felt a little differently about this considering it was my first time with Katie and I was doing a pretty drastic cut. However, Katie did a very thorough consultation and listened to exactly what I wanted, got a feel for the texture of my hair and talked me through the cut before doing anything which made me feel very comfortable and relaxed since I was cutting off 12 inches of hair!!! The cut and style she did was awesome. I really appreciated the time she took to explain step by step how to do the style and showed my different alternatives. She also recommended products throughout which I really liked and it was great that PR Partners carried these products in the salon because I ended up buying them there and taking them home with me since I liked them so much. I have gotten SO many compliments on my hair. I think Katie did a really awesome transformation on me and I am looking forward to coming back and continuing my hair styling at PR Partners! Yelp Tip: If you visit their yelp page you can get a $10 coupon off your first hair cut if you have never been to PR Partner before. There is also no where on the receipt to leave a tip so you will need to get cash out before hand to tip your stylist!! read more

I rarely ever write reviews, but PR at Partners is worth it - I was recommended the Olde Town location by a friend who used to work there, and she specifically suggested Natalie for curly haircuts. I have now been to Natalie several times, and each time she cuts my hair exactly how I want it (and sometimes better than how I pictured haha). It's hard finding someone who cuts curly so well and so affordably, and she gives excellent advice for maintenance and care. She is also very kind and makes each experience feel personal. I would give this a zero is a zero star was available. First, their online booking is not accurate and they had to call me to reschedule. They were able to book me for the same day I had originally planned. Sadly for them, I showed up, leaving work two hours early to make it to the appointment, only to find out they had cancelled on me and did not bother to let me know. Instead I had received a text asking if I was confirming and I said yes, then they confirmed my appointment. They did not accommodate me with anyone else in any of the other days I was available. I lost two hours of work pay plus parking and these people did not even bother to make sure I was taken care of. read more

I've gotten a balayage, gloss, and haircut here a couple of times with Katie. She is amazing and really listens to you on what you're envisioning. I have been looking for a friendly, not overpriced salon in the area and I'm pleasantly pleased with PR at Partners. I made an appointment with Anna(who I found on Instagram) and was immediately comforted by her long history and her previous work. The salon was well-kept and nice and quiet. I LOVED Anna's work and her personality. She was friendly, but not overly talkative(which can often be a problem in a salon). After growing out my hair for over a year and with summer here, I decided to chop off my hair and go shoulder-length. So I simply called a week in advance, the staff was super helpful and assisted me in booking an appointment with Casey. This location is great, it's right in old towne, but definitely keep an eye out for their blue and white sign so you don't miss it. The salon itself was small, but tidy and for a Friday afternoon they weren't crazy busy either which I prefer. I was pleasantly greeted, signed in, and offered water/coffee/tea while I waited. After the stylist finished with her prior client, it was time for my appt. Casey was great, I told her what I was thinking and she evaluated my hair, and even brought out a book of examples to show me what would work best for my curly hair and we got started. Since I was cutting so much off, she first cut it to a little longer than my shoulders and then confirmed with me if I liked it or if I wanted to go shorter, I proceeded to go shorter, but I appreciated that she was working with me to get the look I wanted. When it was cut she also gave me two options, 1/2 a blowout or a full blowout with flat ironing. Since my hair is naturally curly, it made the most sense to do the 1/2 blowout since I normally air dry my hair and was looking for something low-maintenance, again she was awesome at providing me reasonable options && I love my hair! I definitely recommend Casey && I'll be sure to go back to her. (= Bonus - the company has a referral program and gave me 2 little cards I could share with friends to save $10 if they try out the salon and that can save me $ on mine too. I think that's a great deal ! read more

Molly is so fantastic. I had an overgrown bob and while I usually get a pretty quick cut, this one took a while and it was so worth it! She took time to let me check out her progress and course correct, as well as recommend some things (don't wash your hair everyday- your scalp will thank you!). She didn't push any products, but they smelled so good and felt really nice so I bought some that she recommended when asked. I'm excited to try a new cleansing conditioner and styling creme! This is a true Old Town gem! I was referred to Casey by an old colleague of mine back in 2012, I think? Whenever she walked in, she had THE PERFECT hair. You know, perfectly coiffed and layered the way layers should be after working a hellacious 12-hr shift in a busy ER. Right?! I made an appointment with Casey and was happy with the way she asked questions about my lifestyle, what I for work, what hairstyles have I had in the past that did/did not work for me. We played it safe with layers. I've had them for so long and I was comfortable with how to style it. She gave suggestions on what we could possibly do for future appointments. I went in again for another visit, then another with the same request. She nailed it every time! Finally, I mustered up the balls to try something "new". I ended up with an angled bob that was stacked beautifully in the back. All 9" of the past swept into a dust pan and in the trash... along with my ex-boyfriend! I felt so liberated and light! Then, we took that grown out bob and turned it into an asymmetric bob. I felt f***in awesome and tried different shapes of lipstick to compliment the newer version of me. We went with color, experimented with bleach and glaze, and also an angled lob. Remember those suggestions from my first appointment? Yeah, we tried most of them and once again, nailed every look!!! Sadly, I moved across the map to LA and can't see her as often as I want. But when in the DMV, she's always one of the first to play catch up with and she's the only one I trust to do my hair. I'd fly approximately 3,000 miles for her. Now THAT is what you call "loyalty"! Oh, and she knows about all my sh*t. LOL. They say your stylist is also your therapist.
