She has been cutting hair in Northern VA for over 20 years and has a loyal customer base, and it is easy to see why! She not only gives great haircuts - she makes it a personalized experience. She would frequently start the visit with hairstyle suggestions if I wasn't sure what I wanted, sometimes showing me pictures she saved when thinking of me. Even before COVID 19, she would frequently try to schedule her customers so that you would be the only person in the studio during your haircut. Now she has increased her cleanings and social isolation since she takes COVID 19 seriously. Finally, her prices are extremely reasonable for the exceptional and personalized experience she gives. I recently brought my 18mo old daughter for her first haircut and Natalie did a fantastic job - no crying or tears! Natalie has experience cutting children's hair too and even have my daughter a "certificate of first haircut". I love that! I will be bringing my family to Natalie as long as she is still cutting hair!

The two sisters brought out toys to keep our 8-month-old daughter & 2-year-old daughter entertained. We all got haircuts, including my 2-year-old who had never had a haircut before. Natalie let our daughter sit on daddy's lap & put a bright cartoon cape on her instead of the regular black one for adults. When she was done, Natalie gave her a candy & 1st haircut certificate. She also put my daughter's first hair clipping into an envelope for me to keep & warned me when she was about to cut so I could get the first haircut photo. The place was very clean, modern, & nicely decorated. These sisters seem to have a lot of regulars because there was a constant flow of people coming in after us.

I had my hair styled and my makeup done for a special event. I don't remember her name but the mid-age woman did an amazing job. Only downside is that she has an accent, doesn't know much English so it was a bit hard to explain what I wanted but thank goodness she had a good selection of hair styles in the book. And for the makeup, it wasn't my idea. I didn't even know they had that service. It was a full face and gosh, I looked glowing and my face looked flawless. I was impressed! I have been going to Joi for years and have had long hair, short hair, medium length hair, light hair, dark hair.....she has great recommendations if you are looking for something new; she makes everything look so natural and stunning (and she makes sure the styles are easy to maintain, woohoo)! She's introduced me to some great products as well. I used to use random drug store shampoo, but now I use this organic shampoo that makes my hair so much healthier (I didn't even realize it wasn't healthy before, but have noticed such an improvement). And I know I just raved about Joi's talents, but Joi's personality is just as beautiful as her craft! It's always an enjoyable visit to her salon! Highly recommend!

The downsides: You have to pay for whatever you order in full or you wont get booked. I was more than willing to overlook the glaring spelling errors on her website and hoped that the lack of attention to detail there did not extend to her service. I have natural hair, and Joi gave me a blowout and style. It left a lot to be desired. Unfortunately, I am not so gracious to overlook unwanted impositions on customers. The owner, Joi, never disclosed that she has a dog (an adorable poodle) on premises and that it has a full free range while clients are present, including jumping on their laps. This is very inconsiderate to some customers. Those of us who have allergies, fear of dogs, or a simple preference not to be around any animal that isn't their pet, our desires are clearly disregarded by Joi not asking our permission or informing us before booking. I was also dismayed watching her style clients who have relaxed hair and also having to smell the burnt hair and burnt product. She had people waiting and waiting under the dryers and kept me waiting almost 45 minutes because she was not ready for me. While I go out of my way to support my fellow African American business owners, I will not recommend or return, but I will say to anyone reading this far down, to make your own choice and judge the results yourself should you go to Joi.

They're nice and the work is quality However the inconsistencies with pricing when you call and request pricing versus when you get in there, it's very problematic. I called last Thursday to get the pricing of how much it would be to touchup my perimeter braids on the phone. The young lady who said her name was FiFi stated it was $80 for bow hole knotless touchup the entire perimeter of my head. I get in there today and a woman who also claims her name is FiFi, but doesn't remember speaking to me states that it's 155 to redo the perimeter of my head stating l that only the front is $80. I tried to explain to her several times. That's not what I was told on the phone when I called I also explained what I was told on the phone and I stated that at this point it didn't matter because I had already taken my perimeter braids down so I had to pay for it regardless this woman goes back-and-forth with me about how there's no way that could've been stated and trying to discuss in-depth with me. What I paid on my previous appointment when I was there a month ago when when I was getting my hair done. She wasn't even there the whole day. I asked her twice if we can move forward I also asked her why she was discussing a hair appointment from a month ago. This woman wanted to argue with me about how she claimed to tell me the price, but doesn't remember the phone conversation The manager ended up getting involved and she gave me a discount 125 which is fine. I don't have a problem with the price of 155 I simply was explaining that wasn't what I was told the other one and men wanted to argue with me so bad about this even going so much just saying that she wasn't lying and I stated I never said that you were what I'm saying is I wasn't told. I also asked three times if I could just start my hair and not go back-and-forth with her, she made a scene in that salon and it was very rude and it was very unprofessional. The problem I have is when you call the prices are inconsistent. Then later on she told me it was gonna be an extra if I wanted four strands of bow hole left out versus three when the last time I was there and I paid 260 for my hair done that is the way that they did it. Three strands left out in the middle four on the top and no one charged me extra. Then she tells me that the Hair is extra cost again when I was there a month ago nobody stated here was extra cost nor did they pay so every time I go in here which is now twice the story is different at this point if you go, just make sure you get confirmed pricing. I'd also like to add that nobody in that shop after this whole ordeal said goodbye to me like they had said every other customer with the exception of the lady who was braiding my hair so when I left, it's pretty clear that they were all upset because I told that woman that she did not give me the correct pricing over the phone because she didn't. And I still end up paying $150 because I tipped my braider $30. Which was never my issue. My issue is the lack of consistency with pricing in the Rood nature in the ordeal. I went through while simply trying to get my hair done.
