From the moment that I walked in the door I immediately felt welcomed. I was offered a drink and did not have to wait at all. Monte greeted me and we discussed the haircut I had in mind. Salon is great...hate to leave one star but Heather Myung-Jones a stylist there is an emotional nightmare and deserves one star. Very short on patience , frustrates easily and lacks compassion. I consider myself very easy to get along with but last week I received a text direct from her NOT the salon but her directly after I had to cancel and reschedule an appt where she said and I quote" if you are not sure you can make it to your appt. do not schedule" followed by more info about the strict cancel policy that they let slide for me apparently. First, I don't need anything to slide. I didn't even know they had a policy. Second, how about waiting to see me and speaking to me politely about it since you know me and don't know what I may have been going through. The point is, I think her frustration should have been handled differently rather than lashing out at me. When I let the salon know about it, the following day I received another text from her letting me know she was cancelling future appts. No self reflection, no attempt at reconciliation. Just her narcissistic way of getting the upper hand I suppose. She cancelled me out with no consideration for me at all. I don't even know how it was allowed to get this far. read more

I gave my wife a shampoo and styling as a gift after she was discharged from the hospital. Even though she was temporarily in wheelchair, Salon Monte's staff couldn't have been more gracious and welcoming. I first met Monte and Claudia more than 20 years ago when they were stylists at Red Door in Tysons. Claudia has been my stylist ever since. She is superb and the best I've ever met at color. I had my hair colored a beautiful strawberry blonde by Claudia and it looks amazing!! I have been to every fancy salon in DC and none of them compare. My daughter is a huge fan of Say Yes To The Dress, and we booked an appointment with Monte as a special reward. I had no idea what to expect- I had never seen the show, but it was surprisingly awesome. Monte is a truly kind and generous person. He talked my teen out of super-expensive highlights- showing her that her hair already looked like the picture- and he gave her a treatment that made her hair shine. Not worth the money. Staff members are not exactly friendly. The women who do the shampooing are brutal. My scalp hurt afterwards. I told one woman she was hurting me, but she didn't seem to care; kept doing what she was doing. I went to check out after my hair color and the dude at the front desk said, OK, color and blow dry. I was standing 2 feet from him and my hair was soaking wet, I had opted not to have a blow dry. Is it too much to ask to look at the person you are checking out? And all three times, he asked me, what did you have done today? I told him, and he turned to check with the stylist. Ignored what I said. Acted as if he didn't believe me. And it took forever to check out. I stood there while the front desk person entered something on the laptop, and entered something else on the laptop, entered something else on the screen. I had a simple, one-charge service, why so difficult to complete the sale? Would not go here again. read more
