Beautiful young lady at the entrance catalog my reservation, which i was later told you don't really need it. They are doing one more day tomorrow from 1pm to 3pm, im definitely going to bring my mother in. Their collection was huge n beautiful. They had all the paintings im used to seeing from him n then many more of the ones i never seen. They have a new "to us" section of his collection of pop art posters. Just groovy n gorgeous colors, that bring the still images into another realm of perspective beauty. I really wanted to walk out with a few but im no where near the bank needed to do that lol. But i have gone full wild n walked out of auctions with his work before. To those that don't know? In most art auctions there's FREE booze. And this girl right here has gotten very very very VERY! "INSPIRED". I was speaking to one of the nice ladies in the show room about the last time i got "inspired" i won 3 guessing, matching n hidden treasure games in that Art auction. So i had 3 bottles of champagne with me n they went WOOOSH! Disappeared, like an act of magic. All I remember is that im the proud owner of 8 paintings. Lol among them was Petter Max and another gentleman i love. They invited me for another night of crazy Jez but although i did go I didn't add to that collection. Do i regret it? The first one no the second night? Yes omg YES!! I saw 5 of the paintings offered to me at the time weren't over the 5k mark. I saw them in this gallery over 15k ouch! I wanted to cry but a las Jez D Wild will one day find herself in another one of these auctions. Back at the gallery; I loved the displays n how they setup the art Exhibit. They had a charming greeter n one of the main most seen paintings dead center. Lady liberty. I love what he did in order to get the fund needed to save the Statue. It's what made me love his art more. Towards the left they had their painting framing counters, consultations n my favorite part, the Bar! Lol i only had a cup of wine to spice up my "inspiration" lol oh it work beautifully! I seriously felt the vibe with the groovy music playing and the beautiful art. I saw the ones i own at x2-x3 times what i payed for my collection. I fought temptation head on! I seriously wanted to walk away with 3 but even with the 12 month pay plan it would hurt my shenanigans money. Another time it's the best advice i got for myself. I think i would've walked out with a print or poster if they had it for sale. I didn't see them n my anemia was kicking my butt so I forgot to ask. I really loved my visit. The staff is kind and professional. Well verse in the craft n if u checkin through the app they give you a voucher for a free consultation on framing your art to. I would definitely come back for future exhibitions. The smell of oils n thinners really made me miss my days as a student of the arts. I think its time for me to return to my craft. Thank you so much for waking my muse up. Blessings to everybody n have a wonderful night!

The artists that work the gallery have always been very ice and friendly. There is one particular artist whose work I fell in love with, Apatx Latorre. Yea, there's a lot of strange stuff, but it's always a welcoming environment and it's always fun to stop in and see what the artists are working on. It's interesting to see that the place is actually a For Lease storefront that they managed to negotiate using and paying for utilities until the space is filled, because it's in a really great spot in the heart of Ybor. It looks like they constantly have different art openings, which they keep updated on their website and Facebook. We managed to be in the area when they had one of their Second Saturday "art walk" nights, which was neat because it coincided with the Castle's Steampunk party so everyone was decked out in their best gear. It's always packed on those nights (probably because of the free snacks), but it's fun to stop in if you're in the area!

The clean, open design creates a really effective exhibit space but also allows for a flow for the crowds that gather for special events held here. Neatly tucked away from busy Florida Avenue, the building can be easily missed but just look for the steady stream of people who show up for whatever may be happening within its walls. A recent display of Theo Wujcik's work (he is a master painter and printer who calls Tampa home) placed large scale paintings on two walls and small, delicate drawings opposite the big colorful canvases. An artist friend who accompanied me to the opening night of Wujik's exhibition seemed as enchanted with the space as she was with the work displayed which tells me art is definitely at home here.

They do occasional art shows/events - last night was a conceptual event with mixed cassette tapes and individually printed tee shirts as the stars. Less of a serious gallery for sure, but the vibe, the artists involved, the space - all the type of arts scene space that makes me very happy. Instant fan.

Johnny has been our instructor on more than one occasion and he's always so thoughtful with his instructions and so patient with everyone, It's always easy to reserve a wheel via text or phone call, which is recommended on busy weekends and evenings, but you can also drop in. There are several wheels in the studio and tables for adding the finishing touches like handles or other accents. You'll photograph your piece to locate it after it's been fired then return about a month later to glaze your piece. Make sure to paint three layers or the color will be super faint. If you're unfamiliar with the area, it's easy to drive past the turn to the location, but it's easy to get back on track by going around the corner. There's only one bathroom for visitors, so if you're there for a performance, you'll be in line during intermission. They do offer simple beverage and snack selections, too. It seems to channel some of the spirit of Covivant, Experimental Skeleton and other spaces that have disappeared over the years. As a perfect illustration, it hosted the gorgeous little nutshell of a solo show: "How the Ghost of You Clings" by Kym O'Donnell. That alone earns five stars from me. Two thumbs up!

Admission was only $12, plus they honor reciprocal museum membership associations. On display during our visit were two different exhibits. In the larger gallery, Tim Smith's "The Hutterites: In the World but Not of It" was a fascinating & touching documentation of these self-contained & self-sufficient colonies that sprinkle the NW US & western Canada. The other gallery featured photographs submitted by Tampa Bay area students for a juried competition in "Through Their Lens: A Journey of Self-Exploration". Both exhibits were outstanding! The museum offers a small gift shop with an eccletic selection of photography-related items and iconic concert poster reproductions. Plus, some vinyl records, photography books, and other small souvenirs, were available for purchase. Also on display, but not for sale, were vintage cameras behind glass on a couple of shelves. Though small, the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts was a great visit as I thoroughly enjoyed both exhibits. I'll note that the two bathrooms were very large & also featured a photograph in each.
