A cup of clam chowder sick, and creamy a good number of clams very good.

Well, this was a little treat. It's under new ownership. Mike, the owner was there. This is a new venture for him after leaving Northern California. His wife grew up here so this is terrific. New name great location on the wharf. Service was terrific. I had a cup of clam chowder. It was chuck full of clams and rich and creamy. My server was delightful. She may be Slavic, but she was so petite and so sweet. I am very happy.

Calabrian Prawns

The food was amazing, the views are nice, and the service was great! I got the Calabrian Prawns and Linguine alla Arrabbiata with Prawns and both were delicious. My hubby got a bowl of clam chowder and the fish and chips which were very tasty as well.

This is the pretty view and boardwalk leading up to this amazing date night restaraunt.

Perfect Tuesday Night Escape My husband and I stopped in on a sleepy Tuesday night after strolling the Old Monterey boardwalk, watching the sea lions and boats go by. With the great weather and a gorgeous view, this spot was too good to pass up. We saw it was new and had to try it out. The vibe here is super chill -- exactly what we were looking for on a quiet weeknight. I ordered the ravioli and an Aperol spritz, and both were fantastic. The ravioli was rich and comforting, and the spritz was the perfect refreshing pair. Oh and by the way. Giant portions. Great service. Great drinks, good food, and an easygoing atmosphere with a view to match -- we'll definitely be back. This is a sweet romantic date night spot in Monterey. We had a great time.

Seafood linguine special!

We had a wonderful fresh and hot seafood dinner. The Seafood linguine special with Rock Cod, shrimp and clam with a great light sauce was delicious

Lobster ravioli and seafood pasta special

Had dinner last night and it was excellent! Food was really good and portions were large. Ambiance was nice with great harbor views. Family friendly or also perfect for a romantic date. Our server Paul was great and very accommodating. Glad we gave them a try, I would absolutely eat here again!

We were in town for a wedding, found this place on OpenTable, where I was able to make a reservation. From the time I arrived, it was smooth sailing. The hostess was professional and efficient. She got us to our table quickly. Service was also prompt and on point. The restaurant is clean and beautiful, not too loud, nice date night ambience. Finally, the food!!! Wow, just wow! My husband and I shared a salad, a couple pastas and clam chowder. The chowder was the best I'd had in Monterey on our trip-the most tender clams, inspiring even. We had the Gorgonzola gnocchi with apples and pecans. Delicious but strong flavor-was grateful we were sharing. And also the carbonara-absolutely delicious! I am spoiled with good food often and also love to cook. I can tell you the ingredients are fresh and quality and the kitchen staff knows what they are doing. Very grateful to have found this place. Don't miss out!!

From the very first bite, you can tell when a kitchen takes pride in its craft, carefully selecting high-quality ingredients and preparing every dish with passion and attention to detail. What truly makes this place stand out is that excellence goes far beyond the food. The service is impeccable, the atmosphere is welcoming, and every detail is thoughtfully taken care of. From the kitchen to the dining room, everything reflects professionalism, care, and a genuine commitment to creating an outstanding dining experience. As someone who understands the restaurant business from the inside, I appreciate the dedication it takes to deliver this level of quality consistently. This is the kind of place that reminds you what great hospitality should be: exceptional food, outstanding service, and attention to every detail from A to Z. Highly recommended to anyone who appreciates authentic quality, excellent service, and a restaurant that truly cares about its guests.

Overall, I'd give Osteria Al Mare a 4.5/5. You have the option of dining indoors or outdoors facing…read morethe oceanfront. Service was friendly and professional. The dining area was well lit, very clean and has a homey vibe. As for the food... 1. Complimentary Bread Basket (2/5) The bread was OK - it seemed like it's store-bought bread rather than made in-house, so really nothing special. The butter that comes with the bread is cold, which made spreading it on the bread difficult. As such, it's really nothing special. It's still a nice complimentary appetizer, so I won't let this affect my overall rating. 2. Clam Chowder (5/5) One of the best clam chowders I've had. Don't let the look of this zuppa turn you away; it may not look super white like the traditional clam chowder soup offered elsewhere, but the taste says it all. It's super light and creamy rather than thick and filling. You can taste the sweet clam flavor within the soup without the soup tasting seafood-y or getting the rubbery chunks of clam. It's perfectly balanced with onions, carrots, little chunks of potatoes, cream and a combination of herbs and spices. 3. Fritto Di Calamari (5/5) I'm not a huge calamari fan, but Osteria Al Mare knows how to make Calamari right where even I enjoyed this dish. The calamari was fresh and cooked to perfection - no rubbery-ness or toughness in each chew. Each calamari was lightly battered and fried to the perfect crisp. It's coated with just the right amount of salt and pepper to give it that peppery, savory goodness. It comes with sides of fresh lemon wedge, lemon aioli-like sauce and tangy tomato/marinara sauce. I like lemon and citrus flavors, so adding on freshly squeezed lemon juice and dipping it in the lemon-aioli sauce was just the perfect combo for me. 4. Squid Ink pasta with Mussels (3/5) The pasta is black from the squid ink. You don't taste anything "seafood-y" within the pasta itself. It's just dyed into the black color from the ink, so don't let the look deceive you. The pasta was al dente. The tomato sauce was light and tangy. Unfortunately, the mussels were not fresh on the day we came, so it kind of ruined the dish. 5. Pesce del Giorno (5/5) AKA - "fresh catch of the day" On this day, it was lightly breaded sole fish that's again, cooked to perfection. Super fresh sole fish that's tender and moist. The breading was not heavy. It's served over a bed of baked sweet potatoes, carrots and spinach. Squeeze on some fresh lemon juice for extra citrus zest. Each bite was delightful.

Was friendly, quick, and efficient. He knew the menu, made suggestions, and was overall fun despite it being a busy night. I ordered the black squid ink clam pasta and it was really good! Noodles were perfectly al dente. Great sauce and a good amount of clams! It was slightly too salty, but nothing I couldn't handle. I also ordered the grilled octopus. Disappointed it was only one tentacle, but the flavor was great. It was tender! We had a party of 10. David and the other servers made it a great dining experience. No messed up orders and when it came to paying for our tab, David handled it well. Gratuity added for parties more than 6 and they do not split checks. They will take as many forms of payment, which was kind of confusing.

Started off with CALAMARI as the appetizer no crumbs were left it was great and cooked perfect. When ordering the special I chose that wasn't on the menu was the CARBONARA, It has shrimp and bacon I also added on some onions as well. Let me tell you, This was the absolute best pasta I've had in A WHILE I loved this pasta it was cooked perfectly and my boyfriend really loved it as well. The carbonara needs to be an updated addition to the menu. It's definitely a must order for pasta lovers!! My boyfriend ordered the SMOKED SALMON PASTA he absolutely devoured it, I tried it out too and it was super tasty. I loved everything about the food and it was just a reason to come back and try out more. Our service was great appetizers came out perfect timing as well as entrees, Everything about my experience was great I am indeed coming back!

The crab ravioli were huge, filled with crab meat and the sauce had a hint of sweetness to it. It got quite filling as we were eating it so pizza to pair with it was perfect. The diavola pizza was also delicious, the crust was perfectly crunchy and bouncy. It had a slight spicy kick to it to balance out the savory. The spicy salami on it was very good too.

Their apps are the strongpoint at Little Napoli: my niece loved the truffled gnocchi. The garlic bread, calamari and meatballs were good too. I got the lamb osso bucco and my fiancé got the cioppino and added on the spaghetti. The portions here are very healthy. I could barely touch my osso bucco, but thought it was ok. The mashed potatoes were fluffy and creamy. The osso bucco was actually way better leftover two days later when it all melded together. The others thought their entrees were alright too, I didn't try them even though they offered. :) You'll be stuffed, but get the dessert anyways! We got a creme brûlée which was creamy and nicely caramelized, but the big winner here was the Carmel bakery brownie. So rich and decadent! Service was friendly and quick. Street parking only. I'd come back for apps and dessert.

A young man standing outside invited us to take a look at the menu--at first we declined, but something pulled us back, and we decided to give it a try. We're so glad we did. We were the first guests seated and were welcomed by a wonderful server named **Garret**. From the start, he was charismatic, friendly, and absolutely hilarious. He offered us garlic bread (though it wasn't available during happy hour) and soon brought out our two pizzas: one pepperoni and one prosciutto with arugula. Both were delicious. The crust was thin, flavorful, and perfectly cooked--not crunchy, just right. Garret was not only attentive but also great company. We were visiting from Seattle, and he went out of his way to suggest local places for us to explore, which we really appreciated. The restaurant itself is beautiful and was decorated so nicely for Christmas, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. Between the amazing food, the lovely setting, and Garret's outstanding service, our experience at Cibo couldn't have been better. We highly recommend trying this restaurant--and if you're lucky enough to have Garret as your server, you're in for a fantastic experience.

They asked if we wanted another egg instead. I declined. The latte and cappuccino was really good. The French toast was mediocre and not worth the price. We opted for fresh fruit on the side and received a bowl of cut pineapple and blackberries that were not good. I can see why this place was empty on a Saturday morning. Not sure how they can be out of food for their breakfast items with only a few options to choose from. Don't think we are planning on returning.
