Food was great and the staffs were super friendly! We ordered the bacon wrapped mushroom meatloaf and the fried chicken sandwich, we cleared the plates! It is very close to our hotel and we saw the Wednesday wings night poster, will come back!!

Gord and I had supper this evening at the George Hamilton. It's in a 160-year-old building and according to one of its window's, it's Hamilton's oldest pub. It was fairly quiet when we got there. But within an hour, it was jammed with a waiting list because of the Garth Brooks concert across the street. Gord and I both ordered Fish & Chips. The fries and fish were good. Page was our server and she was friendly. Even when it got really busy, she still took excellent care of us.

    yummy appetizer we loved it

We went here for dinner due to the fact it was close to our hotel. The service was excellent and you could tell it was under new management. They are trying to give the downtown a new look and name, and we think we should always support that. Although we are from out of town, we wanted to help this new owner get the respect he deserves. Our appetizer was wonderful and the drinks were nice pours for Canada LOL, but our dinners were not the best, sadly they were out of what we ordered but we understood since it was an off night and they wanted to have fresh. All and all it was a very enjoyable meal. There were regulars at the bar, and the whole vibe is nice.. We liked it better than the other well know place right down the street.... Check it out if you are in the area. The manager Bruce Cale was very nice chatting with us, and he had a genuine appreciation of preserving the downtown area of Hamilton, I wish him all the luck and we know it can be done... Being from Southern n Cal we have seen it done in Sand Diego and many other cities.. Best of Luck...to the GH

The old look and feel was a great atmosphere to eat and drink. The new look and feel is just simply better. We stumbled across this place once and it was good but now it's great! We order the Flatbread Pulled Pork appetizer and it was something different but real tasty. It had a strong bbq sauce taste but still amazing. To eat, one of us had a burger which was amazing. A chicken sandwich dripping in sauce in a crispy bun. Also with lettuce greens and tomatoes. A must have. I ordered the Chicken and Goat Cheese Wrap and within the first bite, your mouth explodes with the sudden and strong taste of Portuguese goat cheese. A very filling wrap, especially with a specialty fries and a appetizer before hand. Very well done wrap and neat. Not to many sauces causing the wrap to stay in place. The music at the bar/restaurant is all controlled by an iDJ. A subscription based music player the has no adds that anyone can add songs to the playlist for a super small fee. Just watch out for the bar regulars who don't have a good taste in music and love Steve Miller over Fleet Wood Mac or the classical sound of The Beatles. (THEY WILL ARGURE OVER MUSIC FOR 15 MIN and think they are doing a "bang up job")

The bartender was by far the friendliest bartender I have meet to date inCanada. It's definitely a pub. But two thumbs up..

I pre-ordered the Chicago Special over the phone at 4:30 pm with a pickup time of 6:30 pm. That should give them more than enough time to cook the pizza. They told me that a deep dish pizza needs 30 minutes to cook. When I went to pick up the pizza, a staff member told me it's almost ready and asked me to pay. A few minutes later, I heard my name being called. She told me that they made a mistake and served my pizza to a table. I could see she was upset about the error. She was so kind and said they would remake another one for me on the house and that I could also keep the pizza that was for the other table. That, to me, was ultimate customer service along with the repeated apologies. The 2 deep dish pizzas were definitely deep, like the ones i tried in Chicago. They were filled with tomato sauce, so if you love your tomatoes, you would be in heaven. I look forward to my next order.

THE FOOD: Lentil soup: - The lentil soup was amazing. It was bursting with flavour and one of the best lentil soups I have had in a long time. It was both gluten and dairy free. Falafel - The falafel was the best falafel I have ever had! It was crispy and served with hummus. I really like how the falafels were heart shaped. The presentation was really nice and I would come back to enjoy these. Chicken Platter: My fiancé ordered the chicken platter and he really enjoyed it. The platter comes with salad and hummus. He found the chicken super tender and the salad was delicious. Both of us had hummus and found it robbed mediocre. Halava: - The halava was super sweet and made with pistachio. It tasted delicious and it was the perfect way to end our meal. Would We Return? Absolutely!

Upon entering Tomah I was immediately greeted by the young gentleman behind the counter. I was free to sit where I pleased. He immediately brought water and a cup of tea complimentary. The tea was amazing, full of flavor and sweet. I only ordered Syrian Shwarma and requested an additional drizzle of pomergranate syrup and an order of Muttabal and asked if that was enough and should I order more. The waiter, insisted I try the kibbeh and would bring me one. The food came out promptly, first the muttabal which I can say might be better than when my Syrian mother in law makes it! The Shwarma came out and that was amazing, it was juicy and the spices and dressings where perfect. To my surprise the waiter brought out the lentil soup, kibbeh and falafel to try. The were delectable to say the least. The ambiance during the lunchtime was quiet, however after some time Arabic music was put on, and wasn't too loud, but just right as background noise to enjoy while you eat. The cushions were a Syrian style of sitting with arm rests almost like pillows. I will be back, and I will recommend anyone to come here and get a "Taste of Syria"!

Our server was great, but unfortunately, my pasta was undercooked (not al dente). When I pointed it out, the server was apologetic and offered to remake it, I declined as l didn't want to eat alone, so l shared my husband pizza. (which was very good). The real issue began with the bill. We were charged for the uneaten meal, and when we questioned it, the server said he would have to speak to the manager. The owner stormed over to our table. He was defensive, insisting he'd served 8 other portions that night without issues. When we mentioned we were regulars and l told him the pizza was good, he said l know. Then he actually crumpled up the bill in front of us and walked away. He came back with a new bill and told us to "try other restaurants in Hamilton that would suit us if we just wanted to sample food" I was shocked by this response and asked him about customer service. His response was " I'm the owner of the restaurant, I can do what I want". We were upset by the lack of basic customer service. We paid our bill and tipped our server (who did as fine job), but we won't be returning to a place where the owner treats loyal guests with such hostility.
