We went for a late dinner on bc a Saturday night. If you want a quiet dinner for two, that's not the time or place. With no carpeting or separation between tables, every sound carries. There were loud people/groups and you heard them. Which is great if you're with friends and want a party atmosphere. The $10 cheese bread appetizer was ok - nothing warranting $10. My braised beef in Yorkshire was amazing, tender, and crisp Yorkshire. Husbands burger was good he reported. Apparently no dessert menu. Our server was fantastic - upbeat, friendly and attentive. We had to wait rather a long time to be seated, as did every patron after us. In some cases exceeding 5 minutes. This unfortunate young lady appeared unhappy with her lot - and wasn't very welcoming. read more

I had supper this evening at Duke & Duchess ... it's located at the end of a strip mall just off the 401. There is a sign in the window that says they have entertainment Thursday to Saturday. Whoohoo! I asked the "hostess" what the entertainment tonight was (it's Thursday!) and she had no clue what I was talking about. She didn't know they even have entertainment at all ... FYI, I checked online and they apparently have entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. I ordered Butter Chicken with garlic naan. It wasn't very good at all. I had ordered it medium-spiced and it was bland and kind of flavourless. Plus it wasn't hot so it may have been sitting around for a while. The naan was greasy and not very naan-like. I wouldn't order this again. The service wasn't great either. My server didn't seem to enjoy being there. Plus she left my finished plates on the table for a long time after I was done. Walked in there today for a beer . Six brown guys . Place has about 20 people in there . Only two seats taken at the bar . We are told they cannot serve us as they are busy ! We said we only wanted one beer and we're told they did not have the staff to serve us ! Disappointing tbst in 2022 I am not getting served because I am brown . Waited outside and saw people walking in and not coming out .... Guess they are getting served ! Disgusting! read more

Tried to support this restaurant with a carry out order. Was on hold listening to restaurant noises for over five minutes. I was in parking lot and still on hold when I decided to enter the place and let them know they lost my business! This place is asking to fail!! read more

As the previous reviewer mentioned, I too had a long stint at the nearby Homewood Suites and this is the only restaurant/pub within walking distance. Quaint little pub, it was a rainy Sunday evening so the Pub was quiet and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Ordered the Mediterranean burger, it was good not great. Had the Maple Blondie dessert-not good, maybe bad. All in all, its a Pub. Go for the drinks and the vibe...if your priority is fine dining head to Hespeler Road... Cheers! xoxo, ja read more

Good little pub within walking distance of the Homewood Suites that I stayed in while in Cambridge. Staff was friendly. Lots of beer on tap and the food was good. Had the beer-battered burger which was pretty tasty. Came with fries and nice thick gravy. Lots of TVs with different sports playing. Wasn't too loud either. Would go back for a pint or some pub fare. read more

I used to frequent this place a lot. Hadn't been in a few years. I don't live in the area but I sometimes work close by. I used to love the food and Guinness! A coworker was friends with the owner, but as I said I hadn't been in a few years. Upon arrival I found the same great atmosphere and still had great beers on tap. First time in town in over 3 years and I ordered the wings and Shepperd's pie. The meal was awesome. I still love this place, mostly because of the convenance location to the hotel. read more

Had toad in the holes. Was so disappointed in the sausages. A Scottish pub not serving bangers, what a shame.

To start with the bad first. At this point who serves hamburgers that have been over processed and frozen? Other than that the bacon blue cheese burger was loaded with blue cheese and crispy bacon. The calamari was good. I like how they paired it with a sweet Thai chili sauce vs a marinara or cocktail sauce. The sweet potato fries were excellent with their jalapeño ranch sauce. read more

Waitress was friendly, and we didn't wait long for our order. Our main meal was ok but the nachos were exceptional!

Wow that was some terrible service last night. We had more people in our group than was expected. The server refused help when another waitress offered to take orders. Food should not be delivered to one of our five large tables when she had not even taken the order of others. This was unacceptably greedy of the server especially as we heard her turn down another server's offer to help take orders. I realize people moved around when we wouldn't all fit in the reserved party room. An experienced server would take individual's names and continue with the separate cheques/ ordering. It's easy to ask a table "hey anyone know where Kim is?" rather than asking over and over "who had the wee burger?" I arrived at 5:45 pm and left at 9:10 pm. My friend and I each had 2 pops. My free refill glass remained empty the bulk of my stay and was empty while I actually ate. I was the last person to receive my food at our table of eight people. They were more than half done their meals when I received mine. No apology for the lateness....just a relieved "Good everyone has food in front of them" from the waitress. My goat cheese burger was excellent. I tried my friend's British poutine which was great. I upgraded my fries to mac 'n cheese for a cost. It was absolutely disgusting. The pasta was "scoobie" noodles with a milky broth in the bottom. There was zero visible cheese and it was tasteless. The waitress never came back to ask anyone how the food was at our table. It took me a while to flag another server down to send back the mac 'n cheese. I was completely done my meal when replacement fries arrived. When we asked a different server if she could ask about getting our bills she came back and told us we needed to walk through the crowd to the other end of the restaurant to our server at the terminal as "it's easier for her to do the payment there as it's confusing". I guess it was too much to print off all the bills in readiness to hand out to customers. It's much easier to scroll through each bill while I watch her try to find mine. My bill also had to be fixed as the extra charge for mac' n cheese had to be removed. For the first time in my life I wanted to tip zero and was not able to. I could have been missing something but the handheld would not allow me to put in zero. The waitress got an undeserved 5% tip. read more
