He ordered the mac and cheese which he didn't like it as much as the one downtown. i ordered the hub chop salad and it was very good but the added chicken was very dry. The balsamic vinegar salad dressing was overpowering the flavor of protein even though i didn't even use half. The service was moderate. Hot food came faster than the salad. Also our server was good she didn't come interrupting us too much. It wasn't busy even though it was about 12:45 p.m when we arrived. It didn't feel like a pub, more like a quiet casual restaurant. I've been to pub half a dozen times with the old management and have always had a great time. Went this past weekend for the live music which was great. Problem was there was no room for dancing. Servers seemed new and they would not let you pay per drink, only run a tab. End of the night the bill was wrong and they added a mandatory 18% tip. Would not attend again. read more

Needed to grab a bite to eat when visiting family after a long day of shopping so decided to pop in here because the sign said it was also kid friendly. Staff is super friendly, the feta bruschetta was DELISH, and the crostini that came with it was perfectly prepared- toasted but not so hard that job break your teeth and not soggy. The kids meals were also a great a great deal and there were a good amount of options. We ordered a Mac and cheese, and a pasta with tomato sauce and they both came with some veggies, a drink and either and ice cream or a popsicle for dessert. My husband ordered a burger and I ordered a salmon sandwich. Just to note, if you are from the states, like we are, they only cook burgers to well done which is apparently just a country-wide custom. Not a biggie for us but interesting because we never knew! Lots of people watching different sporting events, which was nice because inside they had a bar setup as well as sit-down tables and a really nice patio outside. Thought we would try trivia tonight. Great experience ! Service not so much. "Acting " manager and the Toast system used in house caused us to split bills and not be able to tip a custom %. Very user unfriendly. Having to go back and print a receipt and server carry two terminals is not customer friendly. BLK Swan needs to do much better. Service continues to suffer. Used to be much better. The old menu was great and had a lot of options that disappeared under the new owners: Cajun Egg Rolls, Spinach Salad and regular specials to name a few. The new menu is overpriced and lackluster. It's also a crapshoot as there is no consistency. Order a buffalo wrap one week and it is amazing, the next week It is terrible, I have received food that is still frozen. The people and the events are great but please fix the food. read more

This was one of the most disappointing experiences I've had in a very long time. The Mister and I stopped in after hearing that they had an open mike nite on Sunday's so we decided to give it a go. We were seated immediately and drink order was promptly taken. We both ordered a pint of beer that arrived flat and watery. I'm not a fan of sending anything back but had to in this case. Don't mess with my beer! The gentleman I spoke to was extremely understanding and quickly replaced our drinks with a different brand without question. My second selection was still not right but I choked it back anyways. We ordered some food to share, that wasn't horrible. Potato soup was hot and thick but it seemed as though the bacon in it were bacon bits?? Like the kind out of a bag?? Potato skins were mediocre at best and I'd have to say that the wings were the highlight. The breading reminded me of Popeyes chicken slathered in hot sauce. A little heavy on the sauce but manageable. I would not recommend this place for the food, and will not be returning. read more

I just got kicked out from the Black Swan restaurant here in Alton Village because my baby was crying!! We've been going here for 2 years now, and they just changed ownership. As soon as my baby started crying, I took her out to calm her down (and I do get it, crying babies get annoying) and right after she was okay, I went back in and found the bill and a few take out boxes and the owner asking me to leave. So just as the owner suggested, people with kids, please go to Mc Donalds!!! I felt so disrespected and discriminated... Its really sad that a place that we enjoyed here in our neighbourhood as a family has an owner like this now.... read more

This place has become a favourite of mine whenever I go into Burlington on business. Good food, atmosphere and friendly staff. Clean and inviting. It's located at the very edge of town, in a somewhat quiet area. I hope more people discover it and help them stay open for a long time! read more

I went to the black swan for the .50 cent wing night, and had a rather disappointing meal. The restaurant was not completely full. My boyfriend and I ordered 20 wings, and a plate of sweet potato fries. He ordered a bottle of beer, and was brought a pint. The waitress never once came over to refresh our drinks, and since we waited approximately 40 minutes for our food, my glass was empty by the time it arrived. We watched tables who had sat after us be served before us. One of our baskets of wings was cold. I had asked her to refill my glass when she brought our food, and she didn't. We never got our dipping sauces/vegetables. The restaurant's atmosphere was nice, and the food (although cold..) was good- but the service left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I recently had the opportunity to pop into The Black Swan in Burlington and boy am I am glad I did. It was Sunday night and it was their weekly Jam night and the place was hopping. First thing i liked about the place was that the tables were nice and spaced out so you don't feel like you're on top of someone. Once I found a small table on the bar side I was greeted by the bartender asking if I was interested in a menu and something to drink. Believe his name was Greg. He was super friendly and was attentive throughout the night. Nice start to the evening. I ordered a drink and looked through the menu for something to eat. I wasn't too hungry so I just ordered some fries which I was told are hand cut in house. Being a french fry self proclaimed aficionado I've got to say these are some of the best I've ever had. Over the course of the next 90 minutes or so I listened to a great mix and range of music from the jam band and people who are invited to get up and sing and play. Was a real treat to see so many talented people do their thing. I just wish I had more time to stay and enjoy the full night. Another thing I want to compliment The Black Swan on is their wine options and beer selection. You wont have any trouble finding something here. I can recommend without any hesitation The Black Swan and will definitely be back. You can tell the place is well run and the staff reflect that. Unfortunately there is not "no star" option because this place does not deserve even one star. My first experience at this pub was not the greatest. We went there because a friend of mine recommended it since she lives in the neighborhood. While the food was Ok I thought the service was poor. We were a group of moms with kids on a summer weekday afternoon. The place was nearly empty, maybe one more table beside us. The waitresses seemed annoyed to having to serve us and one of them made a rude comment about one of the kids standing near the door, not blocking the door or anything, just standing there. Well, now I read a story about a mom who was kicked out of the restaurant because her child was crying, not only that but the owner was a total jerk handling the situation, and even suggesting that families with kids should go to McDonalds. It is appalling to hear something like this. Burlington is a family-oriented city and this behavior should not be tolerated in any place really. We are a family of 4 and will definitely not be going there ever again. McDonalds is on our list for sure, as are other pubs in the city that offer not only great food and great service for everybody including families. read more

This is my favourite new bar. Located north of Dundas in Burlington, you can watch the most amazing sunsets from the patio. I usually go for the trivia Wednesdays which are a laugh riot (the trivia DJ Mark loves us) and the waitresses make us feel like we're at home. read more
