First time visit, LOVED IT! I have not read any other review for this establishment. So I'm going right to it. Loved it! It was very chill on the patio as I was there for a couple of hours. I enjoyed the perfect Rickards Red (turtle style) a few times. I ordered the Bison Meatloaf and had no regrets! The meatloaf was not heavy in any respect. The gravy was light and savory, my taste buds found no faults. But! Most importantly was the service. Fast and comforting. The staff I engaged with were pleasant and just my time there all the more enjoyable. The bison meatloaf was a recommendation that I would happily endorse to anyone. I definitely look forward to another great experience on the patio with the wonderful service staff. I'm bad with names, but you know who you are, thank you very much!!!!!! We came over as an 8 person strong group for dinner on a Saturday night. There were lots of spots available so they were able to accommodate us easily. The menu is pretty standard Canadian fare with salads, sandwiches, burgers, and entrees like pastas. There was a tasty sounding salmon with mango salsa that I was wanting to try but with a salad instead of its original accompaniment of rice. My server was really helpful and suggested that I order the Caesar with salmon, and he'd have the kitchen add on the salsa. My base Caesar was pretty sauced up with croutons and bacon throughout. Towards the bottom of the salad it was pretty saucy. The salmon was okay. It was simply pan fried and thoroughly cooked but not yet to the point it was dry or anything. The mango salsa was a bit disappointing. It was tiny cubes of mango, onion, and some chili peppers which I ate around. The mango wasn't that sweet and didn't have a lot of its signature flavour. They carry Coke products here but a few us that ordered pop noted that it seemed watered down. Our server changed halfway throughout service and our new waitress was able to help us out with no issues. Nice service but the food was mid. read more

Called for reservation day before then called on day of planned dinner to change the time and they didn't have the reservation. They took down the new time and confirmed via text. The restaurant has plenty of parking in the plaza and is clean and spacious. TVs playing sports and casual ambience. Service was friendly, food was good and arrived in a timely manner. After bombing out at Harpers for food, and downtown Oakville being a literal ghost town, we headed to my Oak-Villager's other hang out. Yep. A Turtle Jack's. A place to remind us of how cottage life would be if we could afford a place in Muskoka - or just another reason to put out cool Muskoka Chairs everywhere! Low expectations were set in my mind but surprisingly, I had a pleasant time. The server was really great, but the best was just having a conversation with all the people in the bar area. We all were having fun watching the rest of the Leafs game where Kadri finally came out of his scoring slump! Go Blue! The location is much like all the other places that have opened up over the past decade. Huge Bar/Lounge area served by gals in tight outfits. A dining area where they can accommodate the less rambunctious people or kids. The food is passable. Between the beers and more beers, I thank my palette for going to sleep so I can get some sort of food in. 2.5 for the meal. +1 for the service and fun with the locals. Cheers. read more

You know, sometimes there is just nothing better than hitting up a local chain restaurant and enjoying a classic buffalo chicken wrap. That's exactly what Turtle Jack's is for me, a BCW destination. I've stamped my passport more times than I'd like to admit. No really, I've never tried anything else on the menu. !!!! I have just been informed by myself that sadly the BCW is no longer on the menu at my local TJ's and so I guess part of this review is turning into a memoriam. It was a quality wrap for the price. Fresh tortilla, chicken fingers tossed in your choice of sauce (hot honey for me), lettuce, cheese, ranch, tomato. It was all accounted for. A side of regular or sweet potato fries, come on! A dream! I miss it and love it and will cherish the memories. Onto more important things - this location is fairly open concept, clean, and close to home. They renovated a few years ago which really brought in the 'muskoka, but make it fashion' vibe. You can tell they focused on being a great place to watch a game. The bar area was more pronounced, so you can even catch a glimpse of the screens from the dining room. They have a pretty extensive drink menu, and circling back to food for one minute now that I've had time to process the sad news above, the food on the menu does sound amazing! There are so many options here for everyone in your group. I have also never had an issue with them making substitutions. Overall, a great location, vibe, and place and I can't wait to sit on the patio once we are able to! read more

Two of us attended the evening of Dec 16. The mains were very good. Bison Meatloaf and a seafood fettuccine. Delicious. No complaints. I had asked that they come out a good half an hour after the appetizer and they came out about 5 minutes after so that was a bit disappointing but not as much as the appetizer itself - Beef Nachos. The description is an utter misrepresentation. It was basically a dry pile of chips with maybe 2 tablespoons of ground beef and perhaps a quarter cup of melted shredded cheese. I took home most of them and was able to rehabilitate them with a proper amount of cheese so that they at least stuck together. read more

Warning - I ordered chicken fingers from Turtle Jacks tonight (@Dundas). Ate one, fine. Ate another, it tasted like chemical poison. Like cleaning product. Spat it out everywhere. My nose and throat is currently on fire and I feel sick. Called Turtle Jacks to let them know - I was super polite. The manager proceeded to act as though I'm lying. Did not apologize, just refused to listen. I told him above all else, I'm actually most annoyed with his poorly trained response. If a client calls and says their chicken tastes like cleaning product - there's probably something wrong, and to not debate or question the client. Perhaps he needs explore further client complaint training, to avoid clients from posting on YELP etc... I'm actually going to puke now. read more

Turtle Jacks is my go to for take out. I've never had a bad meal until tonight. I ordered my usual meal of chicken finger dinner. The chicken pieces were small, overcooked and dried out....not at all what I'm used to from this restaurant. its a pity especially as we try to support our local restaurants durint these trying times. I'm not sure if they have a new chef or if it was just an off night, but it may be sometime before I decide too give it another try. I decided to go to turtle jacks in oakville.....it was alright. I didn't pay for the dinner I guess which is why 3 stars are where it's at. The service is amazing. The waitresses were really friendly and helpful. Well what about the food? Appetizer: we had chicken rolls and they were so amazing: delicious, fresh, and the sauce was phenomenal- I highly recommend! I had the Atlantic salmon It came out very fast which tells me it was cheaper quality because good things take time to make. It was very mushy and soft. It was served with plain rice and a poor excuse for 'seasonal' vegetables. * not worth $22 more like $15..... My friend had the 'big wing dinner' he says it was overall good but tasted like there was more batter than wings. So overall the service was wonderful and the appetizer was yummy. If you are looking for a bar atmosphere and a quick fix this is the place. If you are looking for a meal that costs as well as it tastes then try elsewhere! read more

Wednesday night at this restaurant was busy but not too busy. There was no wait at the door. We were led promptly to our table. The wait for a drink order was a little longer than expected based on how busy it was. Staff did their part to up sell on drinks. Dinner was hot and correctly made. The cheese dip is nothing to write home about. It's mostly cream cheese and thawed spinach. Lacks a richness you would expect from a good cheese dip. Comes with options of a crunchy tortilla or soft naan bread. Burger was decent. Fries we typical of a place like this, thawed from frozen. We ate at Turtle Jacks Oakville for my son's birthday. Service was terrible with our waitress Madi and the food was mediocre and overpriced. Ordering off the children's menu we were not offered the free drink or special toy that is included. The fruit slices were visibly rotten and the adult meals were just ok. Having been asked and telling them at the time of reserving that it was for a birthday for my 10 year old i thought they might bring out a little something or at least mention happy birthday but nothing. Disappointing to say the least and definitely would not recommend or go back. read more

I don't know about this place. The concept location, etc is good in theory but over the past yeah my experience is just meh. Every time my husband and I go here winter spring or summer, the service is always slow, the mixed drinks are weaker than normal, the food is either sub par, cold, or undercooked, and the customer service is just minimal. On top of that, this place has spotty wifi, is not dog friendly (apparently you can only have tiny dogs, no average or mid sized dogs allowed) - and the patio lacks uniform or organization. The past two times I was sat we got our food or dinks after people that were sat after us. Like I said, nice, clean and good in theory but it's not worth it if you don't have a good experience. read more

We used to be regulars about 1-2 years ago. We started going because we live near by and needed a place to make evenings more convenient once I went back to work after my mat leave. We brought out 1 year old and almost every time, sat in Erin's section. She was great! She understood just what we needed as a young family. She knew our regular order and would rush a little snack of something out to our Toddler. Meals didn't last long with him. The last time we went, we sat in the wrong section and couldn't be served by Erin. A man served us, and may have been a manager. He did NOT seem to understand our needs. The restaurant was nearly empty, meaning no excuse for slower than usual service. Our toddler started to cry. He was hungry. The man came to our table and when I asked if he could bring out even just a little bread for him, he responded condescendingly, "don't worry, your foods on its way" and proceeded to show us what worked to settle his kid(s) by taking out his phone and playing an Elmo app. He obviously didn't notice that we have phones too and make a conscious effort not to have them out at dinner, and not to use screens as a form to settle our children. I work in a child development field and feel very strongly about that. As soon as his food arrived, much later, our son was quite happily eating. But that encounter left a bad taste in my mouth. Just ate there for Valentine's Day lunch. Great menu, and a really friendly server. He noticed when I dropped my fork and was there in a flash with a new one (without me saying anything). Pretty impressive. They also didn't make me feel weird for sitting there (without ordering) for 45 minutes while I waited for the rest of my group to show up.
