Tonight was very windy and snowy, however we were not going to miss a chance to experience Moxies, and we're all happy we did( still on business travel). Very busy when we arrived however we were sat quickly. The appetizer was slow coming out, but the delicious flavor healed that rapidly that was a very nice spicy tuna roll. My entree was the Short rib beef dip, so tender flavorful, and the dip complemented it perfectly. Lively atmosphere and great service. Definitely on my list when I'm Toronto. read more

The best ambience! This place honestly has such nice vibes. We went while a game was on and the whole space felt so lively and fun, The decor is also really cute. The food itself is just okay in my opinion. Nothing bad, just not super memorable. But their brownie? Always hits. I literally come back here just for dessert because it's that good. Was in town for a work trip and this was the location that they took us to dinner at one night. While, the menu is fairly extensive with plenty of options for vegan or vegetarian. I did find that a lot of the meals that were offered felt a little heavy when I just wanted something light (and not a salad). Our server was pleasant enough, but it did take a long time for us to get our meal. I feel this is fairly common with most Canadian restaurants, a dinner that really should only take about an hour - hour and a half seems to always drag to almost 2 to 2 1/2 hours due to speed of the kitchen and or service. I opted for the vegetarian curry. It was rich in flavor but there was a lot of it and I was only able to eat half of it. read more

I came with with a few friends for a going away lunch. I came here before so I already knew what to expect. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing and you get this nice vibe from the staff. So onto the food. I decided to get the steak frites and of course I had to go medium rare. It came with a chimichurri sauce which was a little sour with a kick. I'd say the flavours were very nice and blended together. The thing is, the meat quality wasn't the best. The steak felt incredibly tough and you really had to chew or put a lot of force when cutting through it. My friend got the chipotle mango chicken, and she told me it tasted very good. But same thing, the chicken meat quality was pretty dry. In short, it tastes good, but the quality is lacking. We ended with some dessert and of course the brownie is a must get. I came in on a sunday evening around 5pm, it wasnt busy, the host was able to get us seated as we walked in. The restaurant is very clean, and the lighting/ seating was perfect. The Food was great 10/10, the chef ( not sure what his name was) was a gentleman, he brought over our brownies and made sure that everything was okay with our food. The reason why i'm rating 2 stars, is because after eating our meal (party of 4) the server HELEN asked us if she could "get us out" if we weren't ordering more. Easily the worst Moxie's I've been to. For starters, the lounge was severely understaffed. One waitress was assigned to take care of our section, which had multiple big tables and let to very slow wait times for everything. I don't blame the waitress at all, as she was alone. Where I do blame her is when I asked for my nachos to be "put under the broiler for longer", as the bottom layer of cheese was not melted (as you can see in my photo). I said broiler for a reason, yet what I got back was a disgusting mess of molten cheese with oil separating out, and soggy nachos - they just threw it into the microwave... The nachos are one of the only good things about Moxie's, yet they managed to screw that up. I wouldn't come to this location. read more

My fiancé and I had the best experience here a few weeks ago. They're mask exempt friendly. The entire staff here went above and beyond to provide the most amazing service here. I ordered the Sirloin Steak with Chimichurri sauce. I asked for medium-well but when I got it, it was more medium/medium rare. I didn't want a replacement but rather just cook it more. The manager Stephen apologized right away and offered me a soup or salad while I wait for my food. When my new steak arrived he apologized again and said the steak was on the house. I was floored. I told him that was really kind of him and I really don't mind paying as it is such a minor mistake. He said "no please, it's on us". We had such an amazing conversation with the staff and Stephen after. We truly felt welcomed and accepted. The food was also amazing and the atmosphere here is beyond perfect! We understand we won't be able to come here for awhile due to the v passports and we know this mandate is not their fault. But we will definitely support this location even for take out. Moxie's has a standard for atmosphere and service .. but the food falls short. The restaurant felt posh and cozy. It was a darker dim feel. There were even screens above each urinal in the washroom. Wait staff were also friendly. They were fast, I had a large group and they had four different credit card machines going when we were paying individually. The food was subpar. I tried the Beef Dip sandwich with fries. It was a bit bland. No real taste to it. There was no flavour to the roast beef and pretzel bun. Our server wasn't the most talkative guy--not asking how we were doing tonight or anything like that. I guess he's not into chit chat, he also seemed a bit of a rookie. We ordered wine from the list of 20 choices and he brought it over right away. For dinner we ordered chicken and ribs. A person from the kitchen brought us the entrees, but wasn't that friendly. Upon tasting the small thin boneless chicken, it didn't seem that is was cooked fresh, and was far too salty, though the ribs were piping hot, and fall-off-the-bone good. The potatoes that came with it were nice and hot. The coleslaw wasn't anything to write home about, tasted a bit dry and sour. For dessert we ordered the dark chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream on top. The warm cake underneath the cold ice cream was just perfect. Beautiful patio! Due to covid, I'm glad all seating was nicely spaced out and that all waiters wore masks. Our wait time to be seated was around 10 minutes which is great since all patios seem to be fully booked these days (we went on a Weds which probably explains the short wait time). Moxies has some of the best nachos! They actually use real cheese and it's layered which is so important. Their guac to go with the nachos is also delicious. Calamari, burger and fries, also equally delicious. Hands down the white chocolate brownie, one of my all time favourite desserts aka the holy grail of all brownies, never fails me! Came here for what we thought would be a quick tasty dinner. We called prior to determine the wait time, it is the holiday season. Fortunately there was not a wait time and when we arrived we seated promptly. Great because I was hungry. Now if you've been to Moxie's, you are familiar on ambience and menu. Therefore, I will skip it. Service was prompt, the waiters and waitresses were cheerful and greeted us and guided us to our table in the dinning room. A server approached the table, he announced that our server is on break and he'd be taking care of us temporarily. Good time!! We ordered two sodas (pop) and calamari to start. Drinks were fine, the calamari was disappointing! There was a puddle of oil it was displayed in. It would appear that when they 'dropped' the calamari in the fryer, it did not drain long enough or at all before plating. This causes the calamari to get soggy. Ohhh our server returned from break. She introduces herself and checks up on the table periodically. Refills on drinks are provided. Our main. Loaded burger with fries and the beef dip with ceaser salad. The loaded burger plate was done right , just slightly above room temperature. Which is upsetting. The beef dip was cold along with the sauce. The salad had brown pieces of lettuce. Great food, great service! We often come here with a big group of co-workers. The atmosphere is great for after-work drinks (Hello Bellinis!) and apps. And can I just say, they have gorgeous washrooms! The food is great. Everything is super tasty. The tuna comes almost rare with well...searing. The cucumber ponzu emulsion is delicious and the salad itself has its own dressing too. Paired with a glass of their house Pinot Grigio, it was a delicious dinner. The service tonight was by Nikolai (sp?) and he was very attentive and professional about the whole experience. Service was good but not exceptional, and the food was tasty but not phenomenal. But I still recommend. A good place to grab some food with clients or friends! Colleague ordered a bunch of apps and I think they try to do too many 'twists', re: nori chips with guac, bruschetta with the tomato and cheese topping, both in separate mason jars. We also had calamari, boneless ribs, and chicken wings. I only tried the chips with guac, "bruschetta", and calamari, but none of it had much flavour. I ordered the mustard salmon and the salmon itself was ok. The accompanying veg (beans, tomatoes, potatoes) all were bland, yes even the potatoes. Service was attentive because we were dining in a large party AND ordering drinks. So of course, waiter came around often. I wouldn't expect too much from the food, it's Moxie's. This would only be a place I'd go if it was someone else's suggestion or a work gathering, but it's not on my list of places to dine out. read more

Celebrated my 25th birthday during the holidays and left unsatisfied in the lack of birthday service. You'll understand why when you get to the end of my review. We had a large party of about 15 people for dinner. Service was average but the food was good according to most of my friends. I enjoyed my Caesar salad, and lobster and shrimp linguini. The wait staff knew it was my birthday because it was mentioned when I made reservations and it was obvious during our stay. My boyfriend had to ask if they had any birthday treat to hint that I should get one. Afterwards, the server came back and just plopped down my birthday brownie by just saying, "this is yours." There was no candle or birthday greeting. One of my friends had to awkwardly begin by singing happy birthday. Furthermore, the birthday treat was added to our bill. I wouldn't recommend celebrating your birthday here if you're looking to feel a bit special. You'll get the opposite. read more

Had dinner here and probably fair to say I was disappointed. The calamri starter was the best part. It was both tasty and no-greasy. Good job! However, the menu seemed stale. I had the ahi tuna salad and while the quantity was more than adequate (thanks) the taste was not evenly spread. Moreover, the carrots were a in place as was the taste. No biggie. The waitress was completely tattooed up and down her arm and we did not feel so well. On the other hand it is better here than in the kitchen. Tattoos are a magnet for hepatitis and I prefer (if I must) the tattooed person serve the food than cook it. I am sure people have good reason for being unhappy with their skin and bodies and wanting to change it, but I do not like sighting it. Visited this Moxie's location for the first time, after some fun filled mini putting in celebration of my sister's birthday. The menu is decently sized with quite a few options to choose. The prices are on a bit of a steep side but Moxie's being a ''nicer' restaurant it's not unusual. I got the chicken quesadilla which came with a salad and corn chips. My husband and I also shared the Bruschetta. The food was okay, really nothing to brag home about. The quesadilla was on the burnt hard side and the corn chips had no flavour whatsoever. Our bruschetta was pretty good save for the HUNKs of feta on each piece.. that's right.. HUNKS, not small crumbly pieces that you normally see on bruschetta. Service was lack luster, we waited for our food for almost an hour after ordering. The waitress forgot my sister's drink order, she had to ask twice. This visit was.. Eh.. okay nothing special. I got medium and the wings don't come with ranch or veggies because of the special but each are an extra dollar if you wanted. The bartender was very nice and was attentive. Moxie's has a good selection of food. What impressed me was the grilled vegetables that came with my steak. (By the way, the steak was cooked well-done and not burned, so it still was very edible). The vegetables included some very flavorful Brussels sprouts. Maybe they are not your favorite, but you might change your mind after eating these. But if not, you have some other choices for sides, including good roasted potatoes or a decadent twice-baked potato. read more
