Fun bar arcade idea!! This is an arcade with a room full of vintage arcade games pinball machines and skeet ball downstairs and Nintendo, play-stations and sega upstairs! Drinks are a little pricey but all the games are free once you purchase drinks. We went with our adult kids after a dinner out, fun spot for drinks after dinner. Loved that there was a good sprinkling of all generations there. Service was a little disappointing, I'm middle aged now and bartenders were far more interested in servicing the 20-30 yo. THE ARCADE GAMES ARE FREE! Super fun time. Just opened today, and things seem wonderfully smooth from a consumer standpoint. Fast/casual handhelds menu, which makes sense- cause who wants greasy joysticks? Saw two paninis come out, they looked delicious. Full bar, the drink menu is broken up by spirits, which I really like- it makes it easy to pick out something to try. Had the Ms. Pac-Man flight and was glad for it. Great place! The bar lives up to the name of "Garage Arcade Bar" with colorful painted oil barrels as tables and awesome lighting, games, and couches. Great selection of drinks, music was loud enough to vibe to but not so loud you can't converse with your people! Very open and well layed out. read more

I really am thankful for this place here in our city. Great place to visit and reminisce. I played so many of these games in the 90s during my college years. I like the vibe of this place. Drinks were priced just right and I respect the efforts of the staff. Handful of games were out of order. That was disappointing but the ONE game I wanted to play was down, in need of reset, and the bartender didn't have a clue. Educate your people how to reboot the machines. The novelty is the arcade. Website doesn't say 21 and up. Absolutely no one in the place and the one employee hollered "21 and up" when I brought my teenager on. This is a very cute barcade that has free skeeball(!!!) and a nice selection of old games from my childhood. Clean bathrooms and interesting drinks. Saw signs for bands/ parties also. Politics of the owners aside, it's an arcade so I had to go take a look. The first floor has the arcade games, pinball, skeeball, and a full bar. The second floor has 3 screens and home game consoles, and some more seating. It's not clear how close this place got on their Indiegogo campaign, but it looks like the games suffered more than anything else. I would guess that none of the games on the floor were newer than 1999 or 2000. Almost a quarter of the games were out of order, and not all of them had signs. I hope that means that those games had just broken that day, and hadn't just been sitting there. The out of order signs suggest that you should donate money at the bar if you want to see a game fixed. Not a good sign (pun intended). On the plus side, the building looks beautiful! More local business should be painted up by local artists. Places to sit your drink everywhere; and the bartender was really busy, but quick and helpful. Ultimately, I don't see this place lasting through the next year. Hopefully another barcade will open before this place closes, otherwise it may be a while before we have another one in South Bend. read more

We were excited about this place, as it reminds us of The 'Cade in Bloomington. The drinks are unique and creative, but the wine selection is poor (good wine is important if you want your wife to approve of any bar with video games as the main attraction). I don't know what the plans are for adding games, but while they boast of many very very old classics, some of the late 80s games that everyone really loved are absent. If they were to add more of those, it would really be a special place. I look forward to seeing it progress read more

I've only been twice and each time has been a pleasure. First time, we ordered food and it came out fairly fast. The drinks were good and the grilled cheese with bacon was yummy. I've only gone once, but they were honestly too busy for me to be able to play more than a couple games. A decent amount of the games weren't turned on due to needing repair. It's a small space that gets very warm and there are not many places to sit. The drinks are pricey due to the games being free, but I'd honestly rather pay to play the games if it meant more availability, because the lack of access to the games doesn't encourage me to buy more drinks. read more

I'm going to leave a 5 star review only because I'm from the twin cities, and I want to support arcade bars around where I grew up. However, they do not deserve it since their pinball machines have not been serviced in ages, and are continuously on free play since they assumed they wouldn't be the big cash crop from the gaming side of this industry which I think is a big mistake. Now, if you actually play pinball, they have some great tables that that I have not seen elsewhere like Hook, Taxi, and The Getaway, which is a Bally classic that I was so excited to play! Unfortunately the flippers don't work on all of them. Other fixtures on the table don't work like the bumpers on hook but long story short, this is not a great arcade bar. They disrespect these awesome, rare/limited machines, as well as their clientele by just putting them there and not giving any fucks about them. BUT! It's an ok bar with a newish excitement to it, and an ok vibe! I hope someday to return and play a full and competitive game of pinball on of these very cool machines! read more

The Garage is a fun, creative, essential new place to hang in south bend! It has a great selection of cocktails and beers, as well as reaches out to the more sober community with mock tails and plenty of alcohol free options! The games are free, and when you walk in you feel almost as if you have gone back in time!!!! I love skee ball and ms Pac-Man, but it was also awesome to be able to play Mario kart upstairs on their big screens!! I will definitely be frequenting here again and again! The Garage is a great place to hang out after work, the free to play arcades are definitely nothing short of amazing. However, it does get extremely crowded as the Garage is a smaller building. Plus the two times I've been here so far, I've had to wait 15+ min for a drink just due to the amount of volume. Check it out! read more

This bar was a rip off. All the drinks were short on alcohol and our group shots were all uneven with basically no alcohol in them, plus they were $4.00. Lastly, the bar tenders were very rude and it took a very long time to revive our drink orders. read more
