The wife and I are fans of trendy truck food and small up-start eateries. We rarely visit larger, well-established restaurants, even those with good reviews. But in walking around Stewart, the wife noticed the Quinoa and Butternut Salad which she had to try. We were glad we did. The meal starts with fresh bread and butter. We had the Southern Dip Trio as an appetizer, and 2 salads. The food was generous and tasty far beyond our expectations. In fact, there was so much food we were very glad we didn't order an entree. The staff was courteous, conscientious and very efficient. The presentation of the food was tasteful. The dining area, table and seating were very comfortable, and exceptionally clean. We showed up in T-shirts and shorts without a reservation and were welcomed right in like family. The only down-side is that this place is pricey. An appetizer and 2 salads came to $39 without the tip. But based on the overall quality of the food, quantity, service, and ambiance we were happy to pay it. The prices are in-line with what they deliver. Smart patrons will share a salad and entree. You'll still be stuffed to the gills, but be left with a much more reasonable bill and not have to deal with a carry home box. read more

After searching for the perfect spot in Stuart, I chose The Gafford and it did not disappoint. The food was excellent, the server perfect. He understood we didn't want to rush but also checked in enough so we felt cared for. His knowledge of the wine selections made for a perfect paring for my husbands meal. My wife and I have been going to this restaurant since it was the Flagler Grill. Owners changed, Chef changed, and obviously, the menu changed. In spite of all that, this place has not lost its appeal. The atmosphere is quaint, although it can get a little on the noisy side, the food makes up for it. I just love the Fried Chicken. read more

We made reservations for a party of three not knowing what to expect. Overall one of the better dinners I have had anywhere - period. I had the Filet which was out of this world and would compete very well with any high end steak house. Other guests had the swordfish special which was prepared to perfection. This place is the best kept secret in Downtown Stuart...foodwise. The crab cakes are all crab meat and top quality. The tuna tartare is a work of art. The salads are served in a chilled bowl and very generous portions. The carrot cake is a must !! The wine list is awesome and the liquor served is a generous pour. The bar area is quaint and charming. The only drawback is that the dining room needs a facelift. Just tables thrown together all over the place and lacks ambiance. Best to be seated in bar area. We went for happy hour based on Yelp reviews. Arrived at 5:30. Apparently, the happy hour food menu is from 4-5:00. The happt hour wine and beer were very limited and kind of low end. Since we were already there we decided to order food. We started with the Roasted Parmesan Cauliflower, it was amazing. My husband had the meatloaf and I had the roasted sweet potato for dinner. The meatloaf was an A+, it came with super fresh green beans and excellent mashed potatoes. The sweet potato was really good, I'd give it an A-. I will for sure return to The Gafford and the Roasted Cauliflower with a glass of wine is a perfect dinner for me. My husband says he would definitely have the meatloaf again. read more

The Gafford is a great place to stop in for a great meal. I have been in there a couple of times and have been empressed with the menu and service. The menu is fresh & simple overal great features that fit the area. The Crab Cakes are to die for. You can walk into the place and tell it it is well ran with an owner that is on the floor shaking hands and welcoming every guests as you would welcoming you into his house. The service staff is relaxed well trained, knowledgable and very engaged with the guest to ensure everything is perferct. It has been each of my recent visits. We made a reservation on line got to the restaurant and was told they were booked. The manager told us a table would be open soon and the hostess came out and told us there booked again. We left not going to go back. I think some one costs the gafford some money. read more

Wonderful food and a but just a bit pricey compared to local competition of equal standards

While the food is good, I just cannot keep returning to place that has bad service. In my most recent trip to the Gafford, we were told by a waiter and the hostesses that the bar was first come first serve. All the bar tables were filled so we waited around until one opened up. However, as soon as one opened, a waitress told us we needed to get out of the table because someone's had been waiting for it. When we told her that the policy was first come first serve she yelled that we needed to leave. On other occasions, we've dealt with extremely slow service, incorrect orders, etc, and unfortunately, I just can't recommend going here any more. Don't waste your time - go to district 41. The food and the service is better. read more

I always have the best food at the Gafford. Everyone is so nice. I love the atmosphere.

"Was" our favorite place. Use to go there weekly. Last few times the food was not cooked the way we ordered; and the manager just did not care AT ALL! So much for loyalty to repeat customers. It just seems to be going downhill. The staff was nice and apologize for the bad experience. We haven't been back and don't think we will. This was our first time at The Gafford. There are two dining rooms. We were seated alongside the kitchen. Our waiter, Trevor, was the ultimate professional. The wine list was pricey but we chose the BT Alexander Valley which was $42, one of the least expensive. It was very, very good. We shared a Caesar salad. Chilled and tasty. I chose the local swordfish with crab and bernaise. Absolutely delicious. My wife ordered Mabel's fried chicken, the chef's grandmother's recipe. It was boneless and the best fried chicken we've ever had. We chise chocalate mousse cake for dessert, and it was really good. We will most definitely return soon. read more

Very solid American place. Slightly upscale and you should definitely have a recommendation. Everything we ordered ranged from good to great. My beef rib was totally unique and absolutely delicious.
