This is your average college bar/pub, right across the street from SUNY Morrisville (I'm not quite sure if this is a good thing or not, being a nursing student I've gotten pretty buzzed here several times after a test on Monday, I know one of these days one of my professors is going to walk in and see me drinking heavily when I have something very important due the next day) college life at its finest...... The Fort is a pretty chill spot. The bar tenders are cool, they have lots of seating, pool tables, jukebox and all that. Wing night on Mondays 6:30-10 $.50c wings and they are the best wings! I love the honey barbecue. The Reuben sandwich is good too with sweet potato fries MmmmMmm one of my favorites. Also, try the Mac salad. Everything seems like it's homemade here. I've yet to try their soup but everyone says its bomb. Ya can never go wrong, they really make some killer food! Only reason why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is because sometimes it takes a while for our food, even if were the only ones there. I would call this a bar, plus. So it seems to mainly be a bar, with all the locals tipping one back. But they do a little more than just the normal pub fare. They have a billiard table. But it is quite dark inside even with the lights on. & watch your step! read more

Firstly, I have no clue what her name is, but to the wonderful lady working Monday night on the night in making this review, kudos to you. This woman was the only server in the place, and managed all her tables and the patrons at the bar very well. There was a rude customer at the bar who ended up yelling at the lady for not finding his ticket quick enough for him, had to much to drink, and they kicked him out. Literally everyone else in the place was the most kind and caring and considerate people after, asked her if she was alright, and the two cooks working even helped her bring out food for a big table afterwards. Because of all of those things, the wait for our food was a little bit, but oh so worth it. Not only did all of the people in this bar supporting this wonderful lady restore my faith in humanity, but the food was amazing. Best chicken quesadilla I've ever had, and ever will. Veggie burger (9.6 out of 10) the fries were 7.5/10 lost in pool but other than that Log Cabin vibes were good ! Grab a pint Service 10/10

Overall good place, the bartender was helpful and polite. Everything is fair price I believed. The food was good overall and the sizes are proportional. I've been numerous times and will continue to return. There is a juke box which is usually playing and a bit loud but I don't mind that but if you want peace and quiet it is not the place for that lol. read more

In a small agricultural college town with limited options this bar/restaurant stands out. Serving pizza to burgers. The place looks old but it's large and they do a good meal. The pizza was delicious greasy cheese pizza that hit the spot. I will frequent this place when I camp not far away. read more

Nice spot I came across today. Looks like and old roadhouse yup of place, very cool looking. It was rather empty inside but I sat down and Hannah grabbed me a Murphy's stout. My beer was served in a plastic cup which I understandable with COVID but it was nice and cold. I ordered a Miller lite after and again, cold beer. I got the fried cauliflower and fried pickles from the dollar menu and not were underwhelming so the 3 stars. Not much taste and I'm guessing they were frozen. Fish fry and cold beer is as Friday as Friday can get. The Fort is a staple of Morrisville. The atmosphere is delightfully backwoods but the food quality I would put up against anyplace anywhere. Insane how cool this place is. We came in on a Saturday with our son who goes to Morrisville State College and plays Ice Hockey. They have Log Walls and Tables that look like trees. If you see the logs on the outside you know you are at the right place. The bartender was awesome. She was so nice and you could tell she really liked her job and the customers there. Even though she was really busy waiting on the bar and the dining room ( which is pretty small) she still found time to talk to us. We had burgers all 3 of us had different ones with great toppings. They were cooked the way we wanted and were deffinetly homemade and HUGE. The price you couldn't beat either $9.00 or less with homemade chips too. Our son said that Mondays for Wing Night and Wednesdays for Karaoke are really busy and sometimes you have to wait for service but otherwise it is a great time everytime he is there, and they even offer to do team events which is great also. I can tell you we will be going back after his next homegame and I can't wait to try something else on the huge menue. P.S. for any other Morrisville State Student Parent's, the owner is wonderful and if you buy a Gift Certificate for your kid to use she will even send you a reciept if you would like so you know they spent it on food and not beer. read more

Worse service we ever had. Came in on a sat night. With a party of 12. Not one of us got a drink as we stood there waiting for 15-20 minutes. Then when we would call the bar tender over after waiting that long we were told it will be awhile. When there wasn't even that many people there. The bartender called us all trailer trash and she doesn't even know us. Bitched about a 10 dollar tip off of just My bill no one else's. So my girlfriend exchanged some words with her about how rude she was to demand a tip bigger than she was already getting with the horrible service they supplied. Then she threatened to charge everyone's card that was with me 20% tip and told us to get out. We will never go there again. I went to the fort once on their special "wing night" And have never had to wait for food longer in my life. The waitress was rude and the prices were way to expensive for the low quality of the food. As for the establishment itself, it had a rustic vibe to it, and even went the extra mile because it was dirty and gross. Food was okay at best, nothing to write home about... My wife had the Philly cheese steak and it was average. I had the chicken parm. The chicken was pretty good, cooked up nice and crispy and tasted good and there was plenty of nice gooey cheese melted on top... however the pasta underneath could only be described as a hot mess... we'll over cooked and not enough sauce(hardly any at all). The garlic bread served with the meal was simple, but good. I inquired about the nice little salad bar and was told that it would bean ADDITIONAL $7.50 i if I wanted to add it to my meal... I declined. Our server seemed either preoccupied or newly trained but was having a hard time communicating with the kitchen, the cook came out and clarified order tickets several times and was not very attentive to our needs and those of the other Patons on the dining room... With the other options available a short drive away, I believe it will be a while before we return to The Fort. read more

Love this place!! I've been several times having been a student at the college with families after our lacrosse games and with friends. Ive never had a comaint about anything I've eaten, and they have a great variety of things on the menu for such a small place. It may not be fast paced, but sometimes we just need to slow down and enjoy it. Homey, fun atmosphere where they separate the bar from the restaurant well. The Fort has two areas, the bar with stone fireplace and dining room with large screen TV, with a large wall opening between them. The Fort Burger is the best burger in the county. The wings, pizza and Friday night fish fry are also very good. Clam chowder that is on the buffet is excellent. Service is a little on the slow side but the food and prices make up for this. Walked in on a Thursday afternoon and had to wait 15 minutes for a bartender. The local regulars mentioned it was the slowest staff in the area but only bar in town. Finally she showed up and acted like i was ruining her day by being there. An hour later my burger finally showed up, no clue what took so long as i dared not to ask the bartender. Was traveling through, stopped for a drink with a group of friends, none of us got served for several minutes, two girls bartending completely ignored the entire group I was with. She proceeded to call us "trailer trash" right in front of us. Constantly complaining about her job. Went outside to smoke every other minute stating "if I dont go out and smoke I'll hurt someone" complained about her poor tips, even though her attitude was horrible and her service was shit. Was traveling through here on a business trip, looking for a place to have lunch. Lots of cars parked out front so assumed it was good. Turned out cars park there for college next door. Very friendly/talkative staff. Kind of homey. More bar than restaraunt. Had the rebuen which was not bad. Would have been interesting to check out on a Fri or Sat night with a band playing. My experience was pleasant. The wood structure created a tavern atmosphere that can't be matched. In spite of the 15-20 min wait time my burger and fries were quite delectable. They also have $1.00 billboards tables to play while you wait. Overall the food was solid and it will be tough to find a place better than this in the area. read more
