I want to start this by saying thank you so much to our amazing server! We were her last table and even though we walked in 30 minutes before close, she treated us like her first table. The lighting is soft at dinner and with the decor makes for a cozy and bit romantic atmosphere. Tables weren't close to each other and everything was clean. The food was spectacular! Not pictured is the white Cajun shrimp or the crab. Both were good but the crab was to die for!! Personal favorite out of all pictured is the risotto. It was on special the night we went and still talk about how this was the best dish.

The waitress my wife and I had for anniversary did an amazing job!! She was quick to check in and gave us our space once the main course was in front of us. The food tasted great and we sat outside for the evening.

This place combines an a great cozy atmosphere with great food and interpretation of a new American cousin . The service was fast and friendly , we were seated in fast , and food came out tasting fresh . Menu is shareable friendly . While it may be out of the way , I definitely recommend trying this hidden gem .

The Fork at Agate Bay is a wonderful little spot off the beaten path. It is well worth the drive from Bellingham, Lynden, Everson, Maple Falls, or Sumas to experience this family friendly spot. The service is always given with a smile and provides great recommendations. The food was delicious, fresh, and the menu rotates depending on the season. This was the first time I ever had grits and they were amazingly good. The special was good but next time I would add a hearty protein like andouille sausage. They take reservations and during the busy summer season you will need them.

This is my favorite restaurant in my area! The food is amazing, the service is amazing, the Bloody Mary is amazing, and they are kind to my kids whenI bring them. Word to the wise - if you want brunch get there early. They can run out! Pros: - delicious food, lots locally sourced - great aesthetic - kid friendly - genuinely nice staff - takes reservations Cons: - none

We had a beautiful afternoon at The Fork. The outdoor seating was nicely spaced (so necessary right now in the pandemic--and we learned they are going to expand it and keep it open as long as possible weather-wise, including with heaters.) The surrounding plants were so beautiful--hops, huge green hydrangeas, a green Japanese maple which was sweetly lighted with fairy lights even though it was a sunny afternoon, a lush vine running across the fence, and pots of herbs that we watched one of the staff come out and cut for cooking. So fresh! We loved our server, Jessica, and got to meet one of the owners, David--both very cheerful and helpful. All the staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful! We asked Jessica what she personally liked from the menu, and she happily gave us some good things to choose from. We'd been here once before and died over the shrimp and grits (and, this time, I watched someone wolfing them down from afar--plus the ling cod fish and chips looked and smelled fabulous). But we wanted something different so we went with the Three Little Pigs pizza: tasso ham, pork cheeks, red onion, jalapeño and pineapple. Jalapeño tends to vary in heat--and I can do pretty hot. But the one on ours was a little scorcher! But, happily, it was NOT integrated into the pizza (as in melted into the cheese and impossible to get out), but, rather, was one large round per slice, so it was easy to save ourselves! So thoughtful! The pizza was a good one, generous with the pork and pineapple. And I do appreciate their wood-fired technique and very nice crust. I was extremely intrigued by the idea of the watermelon/heirloom tomato salad. It was advertised as being dressed with a citrus vinaigrette--which I couldn't actually discern, but that was fine. It was also dressed with feta cheese, mint and basil. On balance, my tastebuds didn't really appreciate the watermelon/tomato combo--but I loved the combo of the watermelon and feta! I will do this at home! My partner recalled that, the last time we were here, we raved about the Caesar. "Really?" I wondered, eyeing a different starter of crab soup. But he talked me into it. Oh, he remembered well! This is one of the most lovely and best Caesar salads ever. Very fresh, perfect dressing--perfect to my tastes, anyway!--capers and white anchovies on the side. Lovely... We liked the wine list and were very happy with a Gruner Veltliner. But, for me, the huge winner of a beautiful experience (well, I was the lucky winner, actually)--but where I am headed with this is homage to their Silver Beach Margarita. It's not your traditional Margarita, which I would have been very happy with--it has tequila and lime for sure. A couple of fancy things are added--but the brilliance was the grapefruit juice. Incredible combination. Soooooo refreshing. A new go-to drink for me. All-in-all, a great experience and excited to go back.

we ate here with some friends for dinner everyone's dinner was good and enjoyed by all I am deducting a star because my bouillabaisse was short on the crab legs, there were three small legs and the clams were quite small, and for $42 I expect a lot more than what I got also part of that one star deduction is the prices are quite a bit higher than similar restaurants in town. I think the premium is so the well to do people on the north side of the lake don't have to drive into down for a nice restaurant.

Cajun White Shrimp &3-Cheese Grits were yummy

We tried The Fork for the first time the other night, and we're in love! We can't wait to go back for breakfast (or lunch) (or dinner again). My only complaint was that it was chilly, but I find that I'm often cold in restaurants, so I've learned to prepare for that. So, not a big deal. To start with, we got cocktails. Hubs got their house-made Irish Cream on the rocks, and I got a Flatliner Martini, one of their featured drinks, which is like an Espresso Martini but also contains that Irish Cream. OMG! It was so good that I got another one with dessert. Hubby got the Cajun White Shrimp & Three-Cheese Grits, which was wonderful. I got the Fried Green Tomatoes w/Goat Cheese & Remoulade. Unfortunately, they were out of goat cheese, so they served mine with some grated Manchego instead, and it was delicious. However, I look forward to trying it again when they have goat cheese, and I'm sure it will be even better. For a main course, Hubs got the Pan-Fried Catfish w/House Made Dill Fettucine & Corn Cream, which he really enjoyed. I got the Baked Ziti Spring Vegetables & Cajun Corn Cream, and I liked it a lot. It was a gigantic portion, by the way. For dessert, I got another Flatliner, and a piece of cheesecake made with a saltine-based crust and some kind of cherry or betty topping (I can't remember). Hubby got 2 scoops of house made ice cream: one was black cherry (which he raved about), and the other was chocolate peanut butter (which I found amazing). The atmosphere was warm and cozy (despite the chilly temperature). Our waiter was delightful. The view was lovely. This place is a winner!

After a few years absence, we finally made it back to The Fork - happy to be here!! Our waitress is extremely knowledgeable and attentive, sitting outside to enjoy the day. Decent jazz for the background music Ordered some fresh oysters, served with their house made mignonette- yummy!! Wildcat Cove oysters. The house mignonette is served in a bottle with an eye dropper - brilliant. We both ordered the burgers - seems odd - but what wonderful burgers (harder to make this well than a steak IMHO). Really nice to have a scratch made burger, a cold IPA, and fresh oysters on a day like today! Everything is scratch made here. Grind their own beef for the burgers, make their own condiments and bread.

The dining room was elegant yet cozy, with great lighting. The staff was also very friendly and our waiter was very helpful in aiding our choice. We ordered the Focaccia bread, the salmon momtadito and the tonnarelli as our entree. The focaccia was the only dissapointing item as it was very basic in my opinion, which isn't bad but just nothing exciting to write about. The appetizer, the salmon montadito, was probably my favorite item of the night. It was served on focaccia bread and drizzled with a truffle honey butter and sat upon a mascarapone yogurt. It was elegant and it was incredibly flavorful. The sweetness of the truffle honey butter was a great contrast to the salmon itself, and all melted together to make an exceptional appetizer. The tonnarelli was a pasta dish we split and was also very tasty. The pasta itself was a thicker spaghetti like pasta served with plenty of crab. It was tasty and it satisfied and I'd likely order it again as I will be back when my sister's visit. All in all, a great restaurant to spend a nice night right in the heart of Bellingham!

I had the tuna melt (yes it's not necessarily a breakfast food but I don't think there's such thing as a bad time for a tuna melt) and my breakfast buddy had the eggs benedict with avocado. While I do love a standard tuna melt, I did thoroughly enjoy Bishop Block's version, which is extra dilly on thick focaccia. Their focaccia is awesome, and the whole thing feels incredibly indulgent. I have a big appetite generally but this tuna melt actually broke me. I actually saved half of it for lunch later, which actually makes the $22 price of the sandwich seem reasonable. I got mine with fruit, which definitely helped to cut the richness of the sandwich. My breakfast buddy really enjoyed his eggs benedict and actually said it was the best one he'd had ever. Granted, he rarely eats an eggs benny so who knows if he can even remember the last time he had one. Either way, it was really good. Is it $24 good? Maybe not on a regular basis, but as a treat, sure. Service here is friendly and welcoming, and food comes out fast. Definitely a must visit for breakfast in the area.

We assumed the French Toast would be a smaller portion, but we were pleasantly surprised it was huge! It could easily be shared between two people. The breakfast was also a generous portion and could easily be split as well. Everything tasted fresh and was absolutely worth it. The French Toast practically melts in your mouth, and the breakfast was just as delicious. The service was wonderful too. Our server was attentive, kind, and made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely a must-try brunch spot. We'll be back!

To get to The In Between, you simply go through the main entrance to the Sirens Pub building, but instead of heading into the pub go up one flight of stairs. We checked in at the bar and seated ourselves, and then were quickly greeted with menus and water. We very much got the sense that while the folks here take cocktails very seriously, they don't take themselves overly seriously. There's no unnecessary pretense, and no need to be an expert to enjoy your time here. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, which made us feel so at ease. That plus the comfortable space, dim lighting, and perfect noise level (not eerily quiet, but no so loud that you couldn't have a conversation with the person in front of you) made for a lovely experience. We each nursed a delicious drink -- a mezcal cocktail for me and a straight up spirit for him (we enjoyed that they feature local producers!) -- while enjoying each other's company and the excellent atmosphere here. The gold and art deco furnishing with the varied lighting and green-gold wallpaper, along with the unexpectedly detailed wood carvings under the bar were great. Back in July 6 I made a reservation for tonight (Sept 11) for a table of 4 at 7:15pm through their website (via OpenTable). I was very much looking forward to dinner this evening. Yesterday I even received the "let them know you're coming" confirmation email to confirm my reservation - which I eagerly did. Imagine my surprise when I get to the restaurant tonight and there is a handwritten sign on their door saying "Closed Friday and Saturday for a private event". How could they be closed after I was able to make a reservation months ago AND confirm it just yesterday? Also, there was no private event happening - the doors were closed and no one was inside. I'm now left with nothing on a Friday night. (More on that in the PS). I decide to call and at least let them know that I had a reservation and can't imagine why they took my reservation. I fully expected to be leaving a voicemail but to my surprise a child answered the phone. Confused, I asked if this was Oystertale and the voice said "Yes"; figuring that perhaps this was just a young-sounding person I went ahead and explained my situation. In the middle of my explanation someone else came on the line who sounded like an adult woman, and I could hear the child trying to explain what was happening in the background, and I thought "What's happening here?" I started all over and re-explained my situation to the woman on the phone. Did she apologize? No. Not once during the entire conversation. Instead, the first things she said was "Did you make the reservation on our site or something else?" I replied "Through your website" getting annoyed that there wasn't an acknowledgment of the predicament I was in. Then she said "Well, we're trying to use Square instead of OpenTable." And I said "Clicking on the reservation button on your website took me to OpenTable to make the reservation, and I confirmed it yesterday. Just wanted to let you know this." There was silence on the other end. Literally no reply for seconds. At that point I was more than a little annoyed, so I left my name and phone number and said "thought you should know in case there are others like myself" and hung up. Look, maybe I can understand if the reservation system was on the blink, but this is a $50 - $100 a table place! How could it have gotten so bad to never have been notified by a "top tier" restaurant. Second, there was never an apology or acknowledgement of the terrible situation that left me in. Third, why was I talking to a kid on the phone?? And lastly, how many other people were in my situation? With this kind of experience it's hard to trust OysterTale. I'd expect a place of this caliber to have their reservation system rock solid and to apologize when speaking to a patron live on the phone. PS. We went upstairs to DownRiggers and they were graciously able to seat us in the bar area (on a Friday night!) and it was delicious and we ended up having a lovely evening. Thank you DownRiggers! Yes, I left them a great review. PPS.

I also live in Washington DC (one of my favorite tapas places there is funnilly also called Bodega) and it is very possible tapas here is different from what I am used to. I haven't had tapas elsewhere in Victoria or anywhere else in Canada. I also wonder if I would have preferred its sister restaurant next door. I asked the hostess what the difference was and she said the one next door was more of a sit down family restaurant. And, to that effect, all of the indoor tables at Bodega were high tops, which I find uncomfortable, so we had to sit on the patio. The ceviche here is incredible. A standout. I have had ceviche in many places over many years and in many countries and types of restaurants, including places that just do ceviche. This may be my favorite ceviche ever. The next most impressive dish we had was a squash with pepitas and other toppings. I asked what kind of squash it was and they said they didn't know for sure because it comes from the chef's mother's farm so it can rotate. On the one hand I find this incredibly charming. On the other hand, I asked because I have dietary restrictions and cannot digest patty pan squash. They assured me it wasn't that, but their inability to tell me exactly what it was didn't engender confidence. Luckily, chatgpt was able to identify it from a photo and it was one that I know is safe for me. We ordered gambas al ajillo, which is normally one of my favorites, and I found it underwhelming. Just not very flavorful. Also I am used to it coming out in a ceramic baking dish or cast iron but this was just in a bowl which seemed odd and may contribute to why I found it less flavorful. Patatas Bravas were solid but also hard to mess up. My husband got some meat items that I didn't eat as a pescatarian but he enjoyed them. And my least favorite dish was a dish featuring albacore tuna, egg and tapenade. I normally love all three of these things and was intrigued by the fact that it was albacore vs ahi or yellow fin or some other fancier type. I ended up finding the tuna dry and tough and the olive tapenade and hard boiled egg offered a lot of the exact same types of flavors and it just wasn't a very pleasant dish to eat in my opinion. Other people might love this. I dunno. I also found service here a little chilly. This is a hard thing for me to rate because I am aware that there are significant cultural differences between Canada and the US and servers in the US are unusually effusive and attentive, in extreme cases to a point of being overbearing, whereas in Canada servers may prioritize not interrupting or getting in the way over being chatty. But even compared to other restaurants we visited in Victoria this felt a little frosty, especially when it came to my dietary restrictions. I very much got a vibe from multiple people that it was weird for me to ask questions about what was in the food or about the restaurant. All in all this wasn't bad. Other people seemed to be enjoying themselves. I think it is a very distinctive style and ambiance and it is going to be a match for some customers and not others, but I personally prefer something with warmer ambiance and more accessible dishes.

My meatball sandwich was okay, missing something. Capri sandwich I was told was good. Ambiance was nice, rustic and not too loud. Overall a good experience.
