While I can't say I frequent The Fresh Market, I have come here somewhat regularly enough that I'm…read moresurprised I've never reviewed this SoBro grocery staple that feels perfectly located. The basics: The Fresh Market is a chain started in 1982 by Ray and Beverly Berry in Greensboro, North Carolina. It is still North Carolina-based and remains a somewhat modestly sized chain at 161 stores nationwide. It was very much modeled after European markets and shopping here is, quite simply, a warm and immersive experience. It's luxurious, however, it's actually a very simple market and I'd honestly never be able to shop here and get everything that I needed. I live a simple life. Not that simple. In 2022, Cencosud, a Chilean retail company, acquired a 67% stake in the company. From 2021-2023, the chain was named the best grocery store in America by USA Today. Now then, back to the local scene. The Fresh Market is unique in that it has an attached garage along with its street-level parking. There are accessible spots along the front and an automatic door. The floor plan seems to be wheelchair friendly and I was pleasantly surprised by employees actually being available and enthusiastic. Cash registers were actually nicely arranged. While there are end caps here (those enticing areas next to a cash register designed to get you to buy one last thing), they aren't cluttered and are surprisingly pleasant. I had the chance to stop in before an event at Jazz Kitchen across the street. The Fresh Market is best described as a specialty grocery store rather than a more full-service one. They offer easy meals, fresh foods, restaurant-quality meet/seafood, premium produce, baked goods, deli platters, and more. They also carry flowers. While I didn't really find what I was looking for, everything I found made me smile. It made me realize how much I wanted to return when I had more time to really explore it fully. Everything I saw really seemed to emphasize quality. This location is one of four in Indiana with the others being in Fort Wayne, Evansville, and Carmel. Since I wasn't able to find what I was looking for, I have a hard time going with the full-on five-star review. However, I'll add the disclaimer that I was rushing due to time constraints and very much look forward to returning at a time that allows me to really explore shopping here as it's close to my home and so incredibly pleasant. Grocery shopping usually stresses me out. Here? It actually relaxed me. Four stars for now. I'm sure I'll be forking over that fifth star in the future.

Had I known that, I never would have placed a large order. I was bothered by numerous text messages about items that were allegedly unavailable. My husband returned to the store and located all the items that were missing from our order. If you cared about customers, you would not use Instacart or would, at the very least, advise customers that their delivery will likely be bothersome and incorrect. While we have been your customers for years, we have decided to take our business to Fresh Thyme.

Last night my family and I visited The Old Spaghetti Factory to celebrate my mom's birthday. The…read moreatmosphere was incredible, and the food and drinks were absolutely wonderful--everything we ordered was delicious and really made the night feel special. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the rest of the experience. From the very beginning, our waiter came across as disengaged and uninterested. When he first approached the table, he literally tossed straws onto the table with no greeting or acknowledgment. For a split second, it felt like we were at Dick's Last Resort--except without the humor. While he did take our drink orders, there was a noticeable delay, and when he returned, he only brought waters and soft drinks without any communication about the rest. The interactions throughout the night felt rushed and inattentive. When taking our appetizer order, he moved on to another table immediately without checking if we needed anything else. Later, he briefly returned, pointed, and said "this?" to confirm the order, then left again. One positive note--he memorized all of our orders without writing anything down, and everything came out correctly. That was genuinely impressive. I understand that service jobs can be mentally taxing, and I truly empathize with that. We were also a party of seven and requested multiple checks (4-5), which I recognize can be more complex and time-consuming. That said, the overall lack of attentiveness and professionalism was still disappointing, especially for a special occasion. With food and atmosphere this strong, the service should match.

This was our first trip to this Old Spaghetti Factory in lovely Downtown Indianapolis…read more The entrance was so neat! It is a glass surrounded foyer reminiscent of a turn of the century store front. The aesthetic and ambiance is very dark moody almost speakeasy looking. Candelabra's and velvet everywhere! We had a reservation for 815 pm on a Saturday night, it was very busy and we were seated promptly upstairs in the very cozy bar area. Our waitress was kind and attentive, all items were delivered quickly. We ordered the lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo, and a chicken Alfredo with mushrooms for my husband. The lasagna was delicious! The sausage was excellent inside of it and the noodles were al dente. The fettuccine Alfredo was oh Lordy, good!! Very buttery creamy and decadent. My husband loved the chicken on his Alfredo, he said the flavors were great. We were offered dessert to go after the meal. That was so nice as we were stuffed! The ice cream was delicious! Pricing for 3 people for 3 course meal was 77 plus a tip. I would recommend this really neat restaurant for families, parties or date night, and will definitely return!
