First off, I instantly loved the vibe of this strip center location that's not too far down from Trader Joe's. This location is pretty solidly accessible with nearby accessible parking, appropriate curb-cuts, and a layout that I had almost no difficulty maneuvering. In case it's not obvious, Penzey's Spices specializes in spices. They also offer online ordering (free shipping with $49+). I have to admit I'm no expert when it comes to spices. I'm also not the most adventurous eater due to a fragile system. However, I've been venturing out of my comfort zone lately and I got lots of ideas from my visit to Penzey's. I have no idea how many spices they carry. It's a lot. I found the prices quite reasonable. I found items that I thought "I want to try that" and I mostly found the prices at such a good point that I would be willing to give it a try. Of course, some are more than others. That's life. Employees were friendly. The overall energy of the place was light and hopeful. They also offer gift boxes, trial bags, and accessories. However, when it comes down to it this is really a spice store and boy do they have amazing options. I believe in terms of corporate that Penzey's is based in Wisconsin. I'm just grateful they're here. They add such a spark to the Castleton area, and they seem perfect as a companion to the nearby Trader Joe's. It took me way too long to get here. It won't take me that long to get back.

Just pepper alone they probably have a dozen different flavor variations. We have over 80 spices in our pantry. Some of our go to are Frozen Pizza, it takes a Jack's frozen pizza to the next level. Yes, they do actually have little cauldrons available for purchase, but they also have lots of crystals and gems, books on yoga and wellness, incense and holders, oils, jewelry, clothing, smudge sticks, tote bags, a few foods and beverages and lots more. The retail store is small but they carry a lot of goods made by local craftspeople and purveyors. You can tell that every single item on display has been carefully considered and lovingly chosen. The place smells heavenly, the lighting is lovely, and the air is peaceful in here. It's a nice place. I want to come back and attend one of the yoga classes that they offer each week. They also offer meditation classes, sound baths, reiki and other services.

She helped me figure out what I needed to put some "oomph" back in my step - we "A" types often need battery-charging. As I don't do caffeine in any form, this is a particular challenge for me. I left with a great liquid, whole-food vitamin here (it's the best shade of green, all the more to freak people out with!), a holy basil supplement for keeping the cortisol under control, some probiotics, "no aftertaste" fish oil capsules and a few other things.... I can definitely tell a positive difference how I feel after just a handful days. Plus, I like the fact that I am taking an active part in my own health without relying on stimulants or drugs of any kind. The store gives generous discounts on large purchases - the more you buy, the more you save :-) Even if it did not, I would still be a fan and I will still make the trek down here once a month or so to get what I need. This is more than a "vitamin store" and the knowledge of the owner, who has a degree in nutrition, is excellent. Plus, she is not pushy, starts you off slowly and explains things very well so you don't get home and freak out about what to take at what time and so forth. My favorite frozen meal so far is the Eggplant with Beef meal, and the turkey meatballs look great as well. I ordered on a Monday and got it hand-delivered at my door by the owner that Friday.
